i have been trying to play a game on my dell and the game is halo the game minimum cpu speed is less than 800MHz and this ones is 3,000 the game still laggs all the time even with all of the other programs closed and i am thinking i have too many running processes .... i think i have about 40 normally running is this too many?and how many need to be running for the game and the computer to run without any thing else?
I was given some info to try which I tried to no avail and then someone told me to do a Hijackthis scan Could someone please at least check out this log and see if the problem lays there as I cannot play any games etc as they are totally unplayable even if they are really old or I turn all the specs as low as possible.
I have had problems playing games online, never used to. I am having trouble downloading messenger on a site I am on. I had erased some things not sure if thats why. Someone said something about my java or something. I do not know how to check if my java is still installed or if working properly. I have a emachine . Its XP2000.
I was playing a game normally... After playing for a LONG time, the game briefly paused and I saw some visual artifacts, textures were all messed up etc. But I loaded a savegame and it worked fine after that. (I admit it, I had tried overclocking my GPU but that was over three weeks ago and I reset the settings back to normal.) Then, after about an hour, I used alt+tab to check out a walkthrough, then alt+tabbed back and it took much longer than normal to get back into the game...
I am a WoW player, and I haven't been able to play in a while because my computer that has good enough specs is broken!Every time I turn on that computer, it brings up a screen that says to pick what you want to do:Safe Mode Safe Mode with Networking Safe Mode withCommand Prompt Last Known Good Configuration Start Windows Normally (Defaultly Selected)It says you can use the up and down buttons to select one, but it won't work for me.
At any one time I have approx 60 processes running, even after just booting up my computer. Although I am not a computer expert, this seems like too many to me. I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me if this definitely is too many to run at once, and if there is some way I can post a list of the running processes and have someone with more knowledge help me get rid of some of them.
Win Xp, Dell and cable connection When I do ctrl>alt>del, it shows 17 System processes running. Are all of these necessary? Also, some of the other running processes i recognize, i.e. firewall, IM, anti-virus, but some of them I don't have a clue what they are. Is there a list somewhere of what should/shouldn't be running necessarily?
How many & what processes are necessary to start and run xp. Some maintanence programs that tell me how many running processes are there is around 20 to 30 processes. Which I think is slowing down the boot up of my laptop.
Shutting down my extra processes. I am trying to boost my framerates while online games. I have no idea which ones to stop and which to leave running. Does anyone have a system for doing this? I forgot how to post what I have running.
I'm running XP. I did an Ad-Aware scan and removed some tracking cookies. It also stated that I had 29 running processes. How do I find what is running to help speed up my PC, and also; which are essential? I have dial-up AOL. It's running like a horse-drawn computer. How can I get it up to at least steam-powered.
i'm having a lot of lockup probs while playing call of duty multi. xp2400 gigabyte nforce, 512 corsair, maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm.in task manager processes i'm running almost 120,000k is that normal ? is there a way to post my task manager processes readout?my hijack log is clean, running spyware blaster, avast a/v, roboform, zone alarm. and a temp monitor.case is clean and all 4 fans are working. heatsink is clean.core temp normally runs around 113 f but saw it get up to around 150 once.
Okay so I seem to have this problem with every single PC game I try to play. Basically I'm just trying to focus on possible causes of the problem. When I start a game up, let's say Age Of Empires III, as soon as the intro video comes up I hear some weird clicking or ticking. Then I can play as usual but with the clicking popping up every once in a while.. Then usually after a random amount of time the game will freeze. OR I can actually quit the game and do somethin else for a while but somewhere down the road - my PC freezes. This happens with every game, more often with more taxing games on my video card. Now I know clicking is usually associated with HDDs but I just dunno about that. I have two HDDs and for example. I had Pirates installed on HDD 1 and had the problem so I wiped the drives clean and installed WinXP and Pirates on the other drive and had the same problem. 1GB Corsair Barton 3200 9800 Pro Omega Drivers 120GB + 80GB HDDs MSI K8-n72 delta-l mobo
Does 66 running processes seem like a lot? I cannot seem to find a thread regarding this. (I'm sure there is, stopped looking after 45 minutes) It doesn't seem to slow my computer at all. I AM running quite a bit on here as far as spyware, virus scans, webshots, etc. It's also a media center 2004 computer with all the trim so there are quite a few windows processes on there. Even with AOL running, my computer is only using 430MB of RAM and I have 1GB.
I open a new page or file my pc opens a new window which is no big problem but my task bar quickly fills up, it never used to do this. I also have a problem when I play certain games the resolution gets adjusted and when I shut the game down items have disappeared from my desktop, to get them back I have to adjust resolution to make icons large, drag items to side of desktop, then adjust resolution back to normal. Fujitsu Siemens, Windows xp, MCE 2002, sp2.
My son wants to play an online game called Americas Army. but he keeps getting kicked out for inadaquite OS privalges it has to do with anti cheat software they run so they say i have to give him administrative privalge on my pc but i only want him to have a limited account cuz with admin he can change my user password and check my personal files witch i dont want if i have to give him admin can i lock him out of the account user area so he can not change passwords???
My PC Specs, Dual Core, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9600GT. Whenever most of the games I try to play, they crash at their launch. Its not with games like GTA Episodes from LC or PoP:Forgotten Sands, games such as NFS:Carbon also has these problems. I remember that games such as NFS:Carbon used to run even on my old pc which didn't even had any graphic card.
I'm using Windows XP, amd athlon XP2.5, 1.83 Ghz with 512 RAM and kindda old graphic card. ok ok .. its GeForce 4. My PC hangs quaite often and i dont play any games. We are using intranet in my campus and i'm not sharing any files either.
My system is locking up when I try to play games or stream media. I recently loaded Norton internet security on my system and thought that may be the problem. However I disabled it and I still get a lock up.
When i put my computer in standby or hibernation...about 75% of the time, when i bring it out of said state, i can use instant messaging, play online games, my internet works, but not my internet browser. neither firefox or IE works, it acts just as if i was offline. my second problem...is when using a program that opens an HTM or HTML file inside itself (counter-strike, anti-virus, just about anything), it asks me before it opens it, and if i click ok, it opens it in my internet browser, and i have no idea why. this gets REALLY annoying, especially during online gaming when i can't see in-game guides to do things, and it opens up 3-4 dialog screens before every single game.
I'm currently using an Esystem laptop that other than the odd error beep will not play music file or sounds on games.I needed WLAN driver a few days ago and you helped brilliantly, supplying me with the file.
Checking in Windows Task Manager/Processes I have three entries for SVCHOST.EXE - all three under User Name are shown as SYSTEM Is this correct and if not, what should I do about them?
What process(es) are absolutely essential to leave running for computer to operate? And if the DAW software requires a process to run for use, will it "launch" that process upon starting the program?I have 45 processes running right now when I boot normally. I'm thinking of partitioning C: drive to be able to boot into "audio" mode where all but the most essential processes are stopped and therefore all resources are dedicated to DAW software. Never had to partition a drive before, I figure it's not all that hard.
on my PC cidamon.exe is running twice & many other programs which i am not aware are also running as shown in task manger. The count is 40 at the moment when the PC is just booted.Ideally speaking we do not need to plug & play all the time with device similary we are not doing many things for which windows is ready in default mode .Can we not reduce this payload on windows ?
