Aug 19, 2006When i put my computer in standby or hibernation...about 75% of the time, when i bring it out of said state, i can use instant messaging, play online games, my internet works, but not my internet browser. neither firefox or IE works, it acts just as if i was offline. my second problem...is when using a program that opens an HTM or HTML file inside itself (counter-strike, anti-virus, just about anything), it asks me before it opens it, and if i click ok, it opens it in my internet browser, and i have no idea why. this gets REALLY annoying, especially during online gaming when i can't see in-game guides to do things, and it opens up 3-4 dialog screens before every single game.

Aug 15, 2006Lately when I have gone to play java games, at sites like pogo and some other I have not been able to do so. As soon as the game starts to load, the browser crashes. I have both Firefox 1.5.0.6 and the most recent version of IE and the same thing happens in both cases. It has always worked before, and no changes have been made to the system recently. I have SUN Java and it says it is the most recent version when I check for updates.

Oct 11, 2005Okay so I seem to have this problem with every single PC game I try to play. Basically I'm just trying to focus on possible causes of the problem. When I start a game up, let's say Age Of Empires III, as soon as the intro video comes up I hear some weird clicking or ticking. Then I can play as usual but with the clicking popping up every once in a while.. Then usually after a random amount of time the game will freeze. OR I can actually quit the game and do somethin else for a while but somewhere down the road - my PC freezes.
This happens with every game, more often with more taxing games on my video card. Now I know clicking is usually associated with HDDs but I just dunno about that. I have two HDDs and for example. I had Pirates installed on HDD 1 and had the problem so I wiped the drives clean and installed WinXP and Pirates on the other drive and had the same problem.

Mar 18, 2007I open a new page or file my pc opens a new window which is no big problem but my task bar quickly fills up, it never used to do this. I also have a problem when I play certain games the resolution gets adjusted and when I shut the game down items have disappeared from my desktop, to get them back I have to adjust resolution to make icons large, drag items to side of desktop, then adjust resolution back to normal. May 14, 2003A DV device is treated like any other removable storage in XP and you get an autoplay prompt when you plug in the camcorder. When I bought my DV camcorder I installed some software that came with it. The software sucks, but before I came to that realization, I had already made it the default for DV autoplay.The problem is that once you select an app to autoplay, there is NO WAY to change it unlike with other removables (where you can right click on it and change it in it's properties). Trust me, I did a LOT of research online and could not find any way to do it.Finally, after a careful search through the registry, I figured out how to disable DV autoplay entirely.ALL the autoplay handlers are stored in this registry folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAutoplayHandlersHandlersIfound the app that was being autoplayed when I plugged in my DV camera and deleted it's entry. Now NOTHING autoplays when I plug in my camcorder which is just the way I prefer it. I'm sure there's a more elegant solution that allows you to reset the autoplay so that you can select another app, but this solves the problem for me.

Oct 21, 2009OS : windows XP Pro sp3Problem : We have a machine that has lost Scanner and Camera wizard from autoplay a few days ago after we moved this PC from a local Workgroup to a Domain. After moving it to the domain with the new user, we copied the Windows profile from the old local user to to the new domain user. We currently do not have any group policies configured to disable auto play. When I log in with the username into the old local account the Wizard pops up fine. It is something related to the user/profile change. When we plug the camera into the computer autoplay works and recognises that the camera has pictures but there are no options to transfer pictures in the pop up box. i have tried a a few reg edits , we do not have Real Player, No luck with Windows autoplay repair wizard either.

I went into the setup and set times to limit how late they could be on. When the time comes that they should be shut off the router disconnects them and then reconnects them shortly thereafter. I have it set to shut off at 9:00 p.m. and turned back on at 8:00 a.m.. I am using a Linksys systems router.

Apr 16, 2005whenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.
