My PC Specs, Dual Core, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9600GT. Whenever most of the games I try to play, they crash at their launch. Its not with games like GTA Episodes from LC or PoP:Forgotten Sands, games such as NFS:Carbon also has these problems. I remember that games such as NFS:Carbon used to run even on my old pc which didn't even had any graphic card.

I had gotten BSODs before, but RARELY. Now recently, at least once a day I've been getting this BSOD "DRIVER LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO" (something like that)
Okay so I seem to have this problem with every single PC game I try to play. Basically I'm just trying to focus on possible causes of the problem. When I start a game up, let's say Age Of Empires III, as soon as the intro video comes up I hear some weird clicking or ticking. Then I can play as usual but with the clicking popping up every once in a while.. Then usually after a random amount of time the game will freeze. OR I can actually quit the game and do somethin else for a while but somewhere down the road - my PC freezes.
This happens with every game, more often with more taxing games on my video card. Now I know clicking is usually associated with HDDs but I just dunno about that. I have two HDDs and for example. I had Pirates installed on HDD 1 and had the problem so I wiped the drives clean and installed WinXP and Pirates on the other drive and had the same problem.

I open a new page or file my pc opens a new window which is no big problem but my task bar quickly fills up, it never used to do this. I also have a problem when I play certain games the resolution gets adjusted and when I shut the game down items have disappeared from my desktop, to get them back I have to adjust resolution to make icons large, drag items to side of desktop, then adjust resolution back to normal. View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i put my computer in standby or hibernation...about 75% of the time, when i bring it out of said state, i can use instant messaging, play online games, my internet works, but not my internet browser. neither firefox or IE works, it acts just as if i was offline. my second problem...is when using a program that opens an HTM or HTML file inside itself (counter-strike, anti-virus, just about anything), it asks me before it opens it, and if i click ok, it opens it in my internet browser, and i have no idea why. this gets REALLY annoying, especially during online gaming when i can't see in-game guides to do things, and it opens up 3-4 dialog screens before every single game.

After playing for a LONG time, the game briefly paused and I saw some visual artifacts, textures were all messed up etc. But I loaded a savegame and it worked fine after that. (I admit it, I had tried overclocking my GPU but that was over three weeks ago and I reset the settings back to normal.) Then, after about an hour, I used alt+tab to check out a walkthrough, then alt+tabbed back and it took much longer than normal to get back into the game...

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever i try to play some of my video files (.avi, .mpg. wmv. etc) my shell and media player will both crash. For shells i have tried both bblean and standard explorer, media players i have tried are windows media player, winamp, and bsplayer. It dosent actually crash the program, it just brings up the little "this program needs to close" thing. if i drag it to the side the video will continue to play (somtimes). somtimes the videos wont load at all.

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i go to Start,Run,type msconfig, i get the error message:Windows cannot find msconfig.Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.To search for a file click the Start button and then click Search; same thing happens ,I do have msconfig in the computer and the path is: C:/WINDOWS/pchealth/helpctr/binaries. Same path for the Help & Support.
I `m aware that there is not reference(or key)for the above subjects(msconfig-Help & Support) in the registry and i`m not confident enough to alter it, so
EXTREMELY ANNOYING problem I'm encountering... I'll turn on my PC and 1/3 times nothing will launch. What I mean is, I'll click on a shortcut and the little cursor will display the thinking symbol as if it's aunching, my HD (or cpu?) will click, then nothing. Nothing happens. Every single application is like this, including a Ctrl-Alt-Delete, I can't even launch task manager, or My Computer... NOTHING. Everything that is open currently works fine though, I can browse places in firefox, change songs in winamp etc. I just can't launch new applications or shutdown my computer. I'll go to start -> turn off computer -> shut down, and nothing happens. I have to manually force restart my PC everytime this happens and it's really getting bothersome. I don't know what to do guys or what could be causing this, I really don't want to format
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt doesn't seem like any of the posts that I've seen have the same detailed characteristics as my situation. Whenever my computer is started and logged on, a few minutes go by, then the message "unable to launch restart.exe" pops up. Once we hit the OK button, everything seems to be fine. So it's not a big problem, but it's kind of a nuisance.
As I said previously, I have read MANY other posts regarding this error, but it seems everyone was having much more serious problems regarding this message. This computer seems to run just fine after we hit the OK button on the error message. FYI... this is an HP computer, running XP Home Edition, P4 2.93 Ghz, 1 Gig ram, Ad-aware is installed, and Norton Internet Security 2006, both of which are fully up-to-date and scans have been performed. All standard windows disk utilities have also been run. I don't know what else is appropriate to tell you. I do have Hijack This installed and have run it once... but at the time I wasn't registered for any of these help forums. If needed I can run it again and save the log file for someone to assist me.
I've had this problem for a couple of days. Every time I start a game like portal or team fortress 2 svchost.exe starts eating cpu. This goes on for a couple of minutes and suddenly svchost goes back to normal cpu usage.
I have 7 different svchost.exe processes in my task manager, 3 system, 2 local service and 2 network service.
I've downloaded process explorer and the svchost that takes all the cpu has the PID 1412, dunno if that info makes any difference but sounds important.
I've searched for svchost.exe to see if there are any more that could be possible viruses but i only found the one in /windows/system32/
I have no idea what could be causing this problem... Also, I apologize if there already is a solution for this in another topic. Didn't find any when I searched.
i tried to move firefox (safemode) to my quick launch bar and 2 things were created, a shortcut and something else. i deleted the shortcut but i can delete the other one. heres what it says.

Microsoft wouldn't give me any kind of answer. They just blamed it on the manufacturer. So, here goes: I've been trying for 2 days now to get the windows xp activation wizard to launch. I've tried the "accessories>system tools" shortcut, as well as the "run> oobe/msoobe /a" method countless times. Neither work. The pointer becomes an hourglass for 2 seconds like it's going to open the wizard, but nothing happens. I've opened the task manager, and sometimes the "msoobe.exe" process will appear for no more than half a second before disappearing
View 1 Replies View Relatedexplorer kept hanging and crashing so I decided to uninstall Explorer 7, when I did, it never completed the uninstall. Said some files weren't found and couldn't complete it. NOW I cant get it to load at all the only browser I can get to work is the one on my real player. When it tries to launch I get this box that comes up and says c:WINDOWS/system32cmdexe I cant get the sytem restore to work either. Tho every scan I've run syas the system is fine. IT is not obviously. I am running XP home edition service pack2, with all the latest updates
