Attached External CD Rom Results In Error Number 39?

I have a vaio PCG - 9G5M which has an internal CD reader - i wanted to record DVDs so i brought an external DVD writer - this did not come with any software but the shop gave me Nero version 7.I tried using this but try as i might it wouldnt work - then suddenly the computer stopped recognising the external AND internal disc drives - on the hard ware manager it states that the drivers for these devices are either misisng or corrupt - error message number 39.
I uninstalled the nero. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and uninstalling - turining off - and then trying - always the same message I had a techno guy come and look at it but he buggered up the internet and couldnt get it back - the only thing I could think to do was system roll back - i got my internet back but nero is still there - only this time i cannot uninstall because it states it cannot find certain databasesso, i am left with no internal or external disc driver and half of nero which i cannot shift

I just recently had to do a system rescue on my hp machine. One issue i have run into is the computer will not boot up if the external HD is connected. This was not an issue prior. The drive is a fantom external drive and is connected by usb.

Last night I connected a friend's HDD to my PC so he could back-up some files onto my PC before he formatted his.He did that,and then insisted that he needed to format it ASAP,so he did so using my cables.So I turn my PC on later I find that most of the contents of my desktop are missing,and that several Apps are as well.I look in C:Documents and Settings and notice a new profile called "TEMP" alongside my normal profile with many of My Documents and personal settings for apps. For some reason, my PC loads up this TEMP profile only now, as opposed to my normal one.

Today I've been receiving a Windows error warning of a power surge on the USB hub. This warning continues to pop up (and block document windows) even after removing all USB devices. If I click on the error, I get a dialog box reporting that one USB device is drawing too much power through the hub, and it lists 5 USB ports with one highlighted as the problem device. It instructs me to remove the device and click the Reset button.I have three problems with this error. First, from the dialog box there's little way for me to determine which physical USB port is the problem, so I have to unplug all devices. Second, doing as instructed (disconnecting the devices and clicking Reset) doesn't clear up the problem, as I immediately get another warning.

As of recently, I have reinstalled windows XP with service pack 1(Repair Installation) over my previous installation of XP with sp2. After doing so, I promptly attempted to download Service Pack 2 from Windows Update but all that happens when I access the Windows Update site is that it keeps asking me to download their "new software" and after it does so and registers the software the following message is displayed:

I am having problems with windows and graphics. I recently upgraded my computer to an Athlon 64 3500+ with an Asus (ATI) X300 PCIe graphics card. I've seen blue screens maybe 5 times in the last few months, but never on a cold startup. It was turned off totally for several hours, and at startup I got "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. My son was online and went to some site that told him to install something to access the site he was trying to reach for playstation codes for a game or something arrrrrrrrg He clicked the x in the corner but it proceeded to download something and installed anyway. I immediately went to the control panel and add/remove and tried to get rid of it but then my computer restarted and I got a fast blue screen... From there... well let me just say its been miserable and it restarts everytime I even try to open my windows folder or regedit. I did manage to get it to search for all files and folders created at that particular time and I deleted every file created during that short period. Spybot wont run for a second and then it restarts my system again and no online virus scanner will run it just locks up or restarts my system. Did some more searching and deleted any unrecognizable files created today and now my process list is clear of all but the one savedump.exe When my computer boots back up to my desktop I get a windows box that says a serious system error occurred and then a second one right after that one. Its running now but I dont know for how long and I dont want to stay on the net cause I dont know if someone has ahold of my system or not. I managed to get hijackthis to download and ran it and this is all it shows. I know a couple of the files are apropos.exe and cxtpls but I cant find any of them in my system or registry now. No searches have found any more files since I deleted the last ones. I have a savedump.exe in my process list that was never there before until this happened and it wont allow me to kill the process in spybot. I started in safemode twice but it still wont allow me to do anything without rebooting as soon as I get close to finding the little booger. I've found it a tricky problem to search for as it could come under many problems such as Windows menu corruption etc. Anyway the picture attached shows the problem the best, Basically a lot of my menu options (new folder etc) have gone and been replaced by either placeholder or some random numbers. this also effects my right click options. I'm on a Windows XP 64bit Dell workstation, that is connected to a server using Windows Server 2003 and have full access. It happens while browsing network folders as well as local folders which is why i believe it to be a windows problem.

I have previously used my Canon Pixma MP 130 printer on my computer, Its spec XP, Microsoft Office 2003 Internet Explorer and FireFox. However after running registry cleaner I found out I'm unable to scan, copy on printer. I decided to uninstalled printer software before reinstalling, the installation went through except for MP Navigator, since then have ran the InstantShield Setup Launcher but each time error Number 0x80040707 Description message appear. I click OK twice then message the software cannot be installed on your operating system.

we installed the Microsoft Fax process on an XP Pro PC. It is setup only to send faxes and works great most of the time. However, every once in awhile, it will stop sending faxes even though there are faxes still showing in the Outbox of the Fax Console and Fax Monitor shows Ready to send. What we do see in the Fax Monitor's more>> window is that the last fax said that the fax did not answer, fax was cancelled after about 5 minutes of sitting there trying and it requeued the fax. It then shows a message of Fax Device Error.There is nothing in the Event Logs showing that there is a device problem. Looking at the Printers and Faxes in the Control Panel show the Fax is Ready.

I was asked to work on a laptop that was having issues staying on, I finally fixed the power switch and got the thing running. It started to boot and then I got the error "C:WINDOWSsystem32configsystem is corrupt or missing" And then it rambles on about the recovery console, thats fine and dandy and all but the problem is that this machine was from compaq -_- so the recovery console was built into a secondary partition.

When I was reconnecting my hard drive, I mistakenly put the jumper in the wrong position and limited the HD capacity to ~30 gigs, so a lot of files went missing and some programs malfunctioned. Then when I figured this out and put it back in the right position, the system wouldn't boot up because"ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted".

When ever I start or restart my computer, this message box pops up and it says, Error loading C:sindowssystem32stlbdist.dll The specified module could not be found.I am running Windows XP Home. I upgraded from Windows ME. I know that that is not the cause. I just thought I would mention which OS I have. I think this showed up after I uninstalled Limewire, but I'm not sure.

I have just installed a Samsung CLX-2160 on my Dell Dimension 5150 PC,which runs Windows XP Media Centre.As soon as the PC started reading the installation CD, it crashed with the following (taken from event viewer):The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0x804f106f, 0xba4fbaac, 0xba4fb7a8). A dump was saved in: C:WINDOWSMEMORY.DMP.
I rebooted with F8 and chose last working config.After a little enlightened guesswork and advice I removed my old Dell 725 printer driver(which had started giving an error message on startup). Now I could load the Samsung driver etc and the new printer works.However, XP still crashes whenever I reboot normally I can still bring up a working system with F8 as above (but I have to reload my PCI card drivers again - 2 port serial and sound card - for some reason)

About 6 months ago I installed a 500-Gig Maxtor External HD I use as a "back-up" source.When I first installed it, it worked fine. Then I had a system crash and had to re-install WindowsXP Pro. Now this external drive is not recognized. A drive icon is also not displayed in My Computer. In System Hwde Devices, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to the (Maxtor 500-Gig) USB Mas Storage Device. I have made several attempts to uninstall this drive and re-install it but the same identical message appears each time: Mass Storage Device Not Recognized. I'm also getting a Code 39 error code informing me that the drivers for this device are either missing or corrupted. Some time ago I was told that I would have to uninstall and re-install Windows XP Pro if I wanted to correct this issue. Is this true?

I just installed windows service pack 3 and now I'm having trouble with my external hard drive. when I go to My Computer, and click on it, it says it can't be accessed because of an I/O error. It's a Western Digital MyBook.

My problem is a result of a long series of attempts to fix a corrupt Windows registry file. A few days ago I booted my laptop and received a blue screen error: c0000218, relating to a corrupt Windows registry file. Windows could not load. After a lot of searching online I found a way to manually replace this and four other related files from the c:WindowsRepair folder using the command prompt.
This process seemed to work and Windows began to load. I then received a lsass.exe error saying something about invalid passwords. My laptop began an infinite cycle of restarting itself. I looked up the lsass.exe error and people seemed to think it was unrecoverable. As my hard drive was reasonably small (100g) and had been showing some signs of problems I decided to just buy a new one. I went out and purchased a new 320g 2.5" hard drive along with a 2.5" USB drive enclosure and another 1g stick of RAM......

An external hard drive. When it is on & I try to boot,I get the following error : Invalid system disk Replace the disk, and then press any key I then have to turn off the external & press any key to get it to boot. Is there a way that I can boot with that external turned on. Some setting I need to change perhaps? I have an E-Machines computer about 2 years old.

My XP SP2 is not detecting any new printer attached. Both parallel and USB ports are not being detected. When I connect the printer and reboot, its like nothing at all has happened. The PC sits there finished booting, calm and quiet. They were being detected and installed some time ago. I suspect it might be a window corruption.. or some registry problem. Is there any way to refresh the windows registery so that it will start picking up printers again? Other devices like memory stick, external hard disk etc. are being picked up and working fine with USB
