BLUE SCREEN Error - Log Attached

Jun 1, 2005

I've seen blue screens maybe 5 times in the last few months, but never on a cold startup. It was turned off totally for several hours, and at startup I got "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. FILE_SYSTEM If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Technical information:* **STOP: 0x00000022 (0x000202EF, 0x824A2D28,0x824A2C70,0x8257E620) I killed the power, restarted, and got "Windows was unable to start successfully, etc.", on a black screen. Using 'last known good configuration', it then started normally. Perhaps not coincidentally, my Norton 2002(updated) was acting up again last night. A few days ago I could not get "Autoprotect" turned on even after a reinstall, then it mysteriously started working after one of many reboots. Last night "Autoprotect" quit again, and every attempt to engage it brought a Script Error message I could not get past, but after a single reboot, it started working. After the "Last good configuration" startup today, "Autoprotect" was off again, but after two tries brought "Script error", I was able to get it working simply by checking the "Autoprotect" box. I had another thread here regarding the Norton, titled "what did I do to my Norton", if referring to it helps any. This blue screen business first appeared before SP2 was installed, but I have never been able to connect it with software installations or anything else I have done. My uneducated opinion is that I have had something out of whack for a long time, but have never had someone babysit me through a long enough process to find it. Blue Screen Error - Hijack Log Attached

Jan 4, 2005

My son was online and went to some site that told him to install something to access the site he was trying to reach for playstation codes for a game or something arrrrrrrrg He clicked the x in the corner but it proceeded to download something and installed anyway. I immediately went to the control panel and add/remove and tried to get rid of it but then my computer restarted and I got a fast blue screen... From there... well let me just say its been miserable and it restarts everytime I even try to open my windows folder or regedit. I did manage to get it to search for all files and folders created at that particular time and I deleted every file created during that short period. Spybot wont run for a second and then it restarts my system again and no online virus scanner will run it just locks up or restarts my system. Did some more searching and deleted any unrecognizable files created today and now my process list is clear of all but the one savedump.exe When my computer boots back up to my desktop I get a windows box that says a serious system error occurred and then a second one right after that one. Its running now but I dont know for how long and I dont want to stay on the net cause I dont know if someone has ahold of my system or not. I managed to get hijackthis to download and ran it and this is all it shows. I know a couple of the files are apropos.exe and cxtpls but I cant find any of them in my system or registry now. No searches have found any more files since I deleted the last ones. I have a savedump.exe in my process list that was never there before until this happened and it wont allow me to kill the process in spybot. I started in safemode twice but it still wont allow me to do anything without rebooting as soon as I get close to finding the little booger. Thanks for any help you can give me. logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0

Blue Screen Error/Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER?

Jan 8, 2007

Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.
Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.

Error Message Blue Screen With C000021a Fatal System Error Logon Process

Nov 22, 2008

i had XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. After receiving a recent download from microsoft, upon restarting, I get the blue screen of death with this message; STOP: C000021a (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)

I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.

Blue Screen Error Bring Boot Selection Screen - Reinstall Operating System

Nov 12, 2009

Encountered a Blue Screen of Death error. The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

Can't Start XP: After Loading Screen, Blue Screen Stop Error

Oct 5, 2010

Toshiba Satellite running on windows XP

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.

I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.

I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x83306788, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

I even tried using this http://forums.techguy.org/6669592-post28.html to get to chkdsk At boot, F12, chose CD/DVD, but still nothing, I even tried disabling boot from +HDD, FDD and LAN from the bios setup menu to see if it works and this is what I got, it just keeps going on and on unless I enable boot from +HDD

Hang At Loading Screen - Blue Screen Error On Reinstallation

Nov 18, 2006

I couldnt start up windows. It would hang at the windows loading screen and go no further. So I was told to try a repair-install. And thats where even more trouble has started. So I started to repair-install. During the Windows Install setup, it gets almost to the point of being completed, but gave me a blue screen error STOP message at around the "18 minutes left" mark. During "Registering components". It would do this every time at the same spot. So I searched a bit about how to solve the problem. One suggestion I found on the interwebs was to try it with only one stick of ram installed, I have four overall at 2gb. So I tried that, next time I boot up to the comp, it loads up the bios, and then goes to the black windows loading screen with the loading bar, then starts with a blue screen saying "Setup is being restarted" So I figure its restarting my windows installation since it never was completed, after that message, the screen goes black with a cursor, and stays that way forever. I immediately put all the ram back in, and no luck, same thing. I tested each individual ram stick, same thing, just goes black. So now, I can't even seem to re-install windows. Did my hard drive just crap out? Some hardware issue? Im already thinking about buying a new fresh hard drive, installing windows on there, and just moving all my files from the old hard drive over to the new one. Though that would be a pain, I really want to save my current drive! And all the data on it.

Blue Screen - Stop Error Screen When Gaming

Apr 7, 2006

I have seen a similar problem posted previously on this forum. But after reading it i think this is a different problem, so, here goes: I recently bought a new graphic card: Radeon all-in-wonder x1800xl. Installed it on a clean system (did a reformat before i installed). The problem occurs after usually 30-60 minutes of gaming (so far with oblivion, black & white 2). The game freezes for about 30 sec and then goes into blue-screen mode.

The message is as follows:
Kernel-Data-inpage-error stop error screen
then there are a lot of numbers etc.
I have sometimes noticed a slight change in fan noise prior to freeze (speeding up)
After reebot everything's back to normal.........

Reports USB Hub Error, But No Hub Attached

Aug 8, 2005

Today I've been receiving a Windows error warning of a power surge on the USB hub. This warning continues to pop up (and block document windows) even after removing all USB devices. If I click on the error, I get a dialog box reporting that one USB device is drawing too much power through the hub, and it lists 5 USB ports with one highlighted as the problem device. It instructs me to remove the device and click the Reset button.I have three problems with this error. First, from the dialog box there's little way for me to determine which physical USB port is the problem, so I have to unplug all devices. Second, doing as instructed (disconnecting the devices and clicking Reset) doesn't clear up the problem, as I immediately get another warning.

Blue Screen Error Due To Screen Or Speakers?

Apr 10, 2010

Recently we've been getting "Blue Screen Errors" on our Windows XP. The most common one is called "Blue Screen error caused by a device or driver." Since they mention a likely hardware or software problem, I suspect our computer screen or speakers might be to blame. A couple months ago, we hooked up a screen and speakers from different brands. I think the screen's brand name is Westinghouse and the model number is LCM-17v8, and I think the speakers brand name is The Digital Experience inc., Model number gem 2.0 USB.

We've also gotten other error messages along with this one, such as "Address a problem with your computer", also strongly suggesting a problem with hardware, and "Troubleshoot a problem with your audio software". Is it possible that the screen or speakers may be incompatible with the computer, resulting in these errors, or would it be something else?

I've not installed any new hardware in the last week nor any major programs. I've got no spyware (according to spybot). Norton windoctor reported a missing msvcr80.dll (i realise i can't just add this .dll back into my system...plus I'm told it's a necessary .dll for office 2007 and .NET 2.0)
Any idea what my problems could be??
PS: the attached jpegs shows the errors windoctor comes up with

Blue Screen Error?

Jan 5, 2009

I have XP Media Center on my desktop and got a BSOD the other day. Unfortunately, I didn't copy the error code on the BSOD down. Now, whenever I try to open IE or iTunes or just about any program, the cursor just stays in the 'working' mode and the computer never does anything else. I can't even restart it via the Start menu. I have tried to do a system restore, but the pc freezes just when I click on 'next' to start the restore. I've even tried the system restore in safe mode with command prompts and got the same result.
I ran Spybot, Ad Aware and AVG in safe mode, but they did not pick up anything. Not sure if that is relevant to my problem... Is there any way I can force the BSOD so I can get an error code? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing my problems?

Blue Screen Error?

Jul 15, 2005

I was away for about 2 weeks and left my computer on. Judging by the
virus check log, on the 30th June my computer crashed out. When I
returned I rebooted and set it up so that it went to the BSOD to give
me an idea what was happening.
In the last 3 days I've had about a dozen crashes. The first few went
to BSOD with various messages (page_fault_in_nonpaged_area,
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal, etc.) I looked up the message but
nothing applies, since the computer was untouched during my absence.
I thought maybe memory was corrupt - I have 3X 512MB slots filled. I've
used each memory block in turn and each time I've experienced a crash,
so I'm not sure about that any more - can all 3 be corrupted?!?
Plus I'm now crashing straight to total death now (black screen,
unresponsive, tho computer-power light still on) rather than BSOD. The
crashes come irregularly - sometimes in 5 mins sometimes in a couple of
hours. They "kind of" correspond with heavy CPU load but not always.

Attached External CD Rom Results In Error Number 39?

Apr 23, 2006

I have a vaio PCG - 9G5M which has an internal CD reader - i wanted to record DVDs so i brought an external DVD writer - this did not come with any software but the shop gave me Nero version 7.I tried using this but try as i might it wouldnt work - then suddenly the computer stopped recognising the external AND internal disc drives - on the hard ware manager it states that the drivers for these devices are either misisng or corrupt - error message number 39.

I uninstalled the nero. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and uninstalling - turining off - and then trying - always the same message I had a techno guy come and look at it but he buggered up the internet and couldnt get it back - the only thing I could think to do was system roll back - i got my internet back but nero is still there - only this time i cannot uninstall because it states it cannot find certain databasesso, i am left with no internal or external disc driver and half of nero which i cannot shift

Menu Error - Corruption - Attached Picture

Apr 2, 2008

I've found it a tricky problem to search for as it could come under many problems such as Windows menu corruption etc. Anyway the picture attached shows the problem the best, Basically a lot of my menu options (new folder etc) have gone and been replaced by either placeholder or some random numbers. this also effects my right click options. I'm on a Windows XP 64bit Dell workstation, that is connected to a server using Windows Server 2003 and have full access. It happens while browsing network folders as well as local folders which is why i believe it to be a windows problem.

Random Blue Screen Error XP

Aug 30, 2009

I'm getting random blue screen crashes, sometimes my system runs for hours, other times it crashes repeatedly and takes multiple attempts to boot. (Sometimes after crash won't boot or load windows and there is a black screen and I have to turn the power on/off a couple times and it will boot after a few tries.) Also tried updating bios but can't figure out how since I don't have a floppy anymore. I've read that this could be memory/hardware or driver issue, but can't figure out how to get to the root of the problem or fix anything. I'd like to be able to fix this without reformatting my main drive.

Can't Reformat Pc - Blue Screen Error

Aug 1, 2008

I'm working on a friends Dell Dimension E520 with SATA HD w/ 512Mb RAM, Pentium 4HT. He said he couldnt' get it to boot and at first it didn't but I finally got it to boot but only for a few seconds. I suspected a virus. I want to wipe the drive and reformat but I'm having trouble with that. I installed the drive in another pc and was able to format in there so the drive itself is good. Here's what happens...I put in the Windows XP Pro disk and it finally boots to the CD BUT as soon as it loads all the drivers I get the blue screen saying the pc had to shut down to protect it from damage error code 0x0000007B. And that's as far as I can get with it. I also put in another hard drive and it does the same with that one also so I'm certain it's not the hard drive anymore. I've checked both HD and Memory test with windows utilities. I was very fortunate to get that far but that was only once. The error code is 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x806357F1, 0xA3243988, 0x00000000) when I got it to boot into Windows (just once only).

Blue Screen Error On Startup

Jun 13, 2009

Recently, my computer would boot up and there would be double blue lines flickering on the screen. Sometimes, there would be a box of flashing lines that followed the cursor. Eventually, my computer would stop booting up, and I would get the blue screen with the following information: Page fault in nonpaged area
Stop: 0x00000050 (0x9A4878F4, 0x00000000, 0x8052B6CC, 0x00000000)From what I have read, this could be a software or hardware problem. I downloaded Memtest and ran that many times over long periods, but it did not find errors with my RAM (or at least what it could test). Reading that it could be something in the registry that is no longer valid or corrupted, I downloaded CCleaner, ran it, and fixed the errors. Still no resolution to the problem. I have scanned for viruses and malware using Symantic Antivirus, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and SUPER Antispyware, but it found nothing out of the ordinary. I am not sure if my registry is corrupted or perhaps the RAM on my video card is at fault, but the laptop starts up fine in Safe Mode and works well (making me think it is not the video/graphics card). I would like to know what I could do to fix my problem short of wiping out my system and reinstalling the operating system.

Blue Screen But No Error Code

Feb 3, 2006

When I start my computer (WinXP SP2) if fires up but hangs with a blue screen after I log in with my user name and password. I don't get any sort of error message; just a blue screen. I cannot do anything but turn it off. Not even the mouse will move. This happens everytime I start the computer.I have a Peer to Peer LAN connection between the above computer and another one running Windows 2000. If I connect via remote desktop from the 2000 computer to the WinXP computer it logs me on everytime and I never get the blue screen.I wonder whether anyone would have any idea how I can fix this as I don't want to have to keep RD to the XP computer from my 2000 computer.
