I have an MSDOS application (point of sale) which works well in XP, except when it prints the ticket. It lasts approx 20 seconds before it decides (XP) to print the rest of it. If I close the application, it prints it immediately. Does anybody know how to force it to print immediately?

I have periodically had this problem: Program: C:Pogram FilesInternet Exploreriexplorer.exe, This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Now I get it numerous times a day, and sometime IE-XP just shuts down for no reason. I apologize if this is a duplicate thread-got tired of searching.

I open the cd drive (for one of the CDs), double click on setup.exe, and get the following annoying message:
"The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."
However, I also have the option of pressing ignore. When I do, it does the exact same thing as close So I really don't have a choice of opening the program. I really would like to use these CDs.
I have tried using the windows compatibilaty tool, but still the same thing happened. How should I get them to work? Also, old files I download from the internet also have this problem.

Using WinXP-Pro-SP2 on a Dell XPS Gen2 running at 3.4GHz with 2GB RAM. Ever since I upgraded to SP2, command mode hasn't worked properly and it's driving me bonkers. Symptoms:
(1) Many of my BAT files no longer function properly. E.g. a simple BY.BAT with only EXIT in it does nothing.
(2) Every command entered, other than DOS built-ins, gets the response: 'C:Documents' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file... and then sometimes the command executes and sometimes it doesn't.
(3) Good old 'DOSKEY' no longer works at all. I cannot get DOS to repeat the last entered command.....

I believe has to do with my Windows Installer. I've noticed that whenever I turn on my computer, this pop-up message from Windows Installer comes up on the boot up as Windows is done loading all of my programs. Also, this pop-up message comes up when I try to install certain programs, such as Blackberry Desktop Software, and then immediately terminates the install from there on out. The message says exactly as follows

My husbands PC won't boot.the welcome (but without the welcome messege) and then the following error occurs"The Application failed to initialize properly (0x0000142) click OK to terminate program"We have no idea what this could be (the only recent changes made to the PC is a wireless connection, which was set up almost 2 weeks ago, so i am thinking that this isn't connected to the problem now?)....or how it has happened. My husband has tried to boot in safe mode and the welcome screen appears (again without welcome messege) and goes no further.

I recently tried to reinstall windows xp, but the installation was interrupted and left me with a partially installed windows on my hard drive. Now, whenever I try to install again, it gives me the error: NTLDR is missing. I made a msdos boot disc to reformat my drive such that I can try installing windows again. However, I have two hard drive (one for windows and programs and one for storage) and I don't know which one is which letter. How can I find this information, so that I don't accidentally wipe my storage drive?

I know somewhere this has been answered. Unfortunately, I can't find the solution and I'm at my wits end. When I boot my computer (just started about a week ago) I get the following 3 messages: 1 Title of boxed message is 16 Bit MS-DOS Subsystem:
A. Inside this box it says C:Docume~1MikeSt~1Locals~1Tempvcrxfile.exe.The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. Choose close to terminate the application.
B. I close it and then I get another similar message with after Tempmssjfile.exe. I close this application and get a third message.
c. After Tempsylgfile.exe. I close this application and the computer is fine and working okay.I've tracked the files to be located in my Temp folder %temp%, and I can delete them, but once I reboot the computer, the automatically come back. I've tried even in safe mode, but no success.I havn't loaded any new programs, but like I said it just started after downloading some Microsoft updates.
