When ever I try to open my Recycling Bin it immediately crashes and gives me an error.
The instruction @ 0x93ac18fb referenced memory at 0x2eb000b. the memory could not be read.
This also happens when ever I try to search something through the sidebar or start menu, except I don't recieve any sort of error. I have tried deleting the Recycling Bin in hopes it might solve the issue, but it seem's to have no effect. I have tried it in safe mode also and it still occurs, nor does anti-virus pick anything up.
As of a few days ago, none of the apps in the "windows" menu will open. My Store also will not boot. It opens, animates, and closes. I've tried many solutions, none of which have worked. *Note*: My resolution has not changed. It is still 1366x768.
Solutions I've tried: 1. Changing resolution: fail 2. Running "sfc /scannow" in CMD in admin mode. Result: stops at 53%, says it it unable to fix corrupted files Also tried opening the .log file. Says I'm not an administrator, when I have set my profile to admin. (I am the only user) 3. Clean boot, attempted to "sfc /scannow": fail 4. Using Microsoft account and local account. (I used a local account originally and tried switching to an MS account. This did not fix it.) 5. System "Refresh": says it is unable to complete refresh after reboot. 6. UAC was not changed, although I tried playing with the settings. Did not work. 7. My Anti-Virus has not been modified in any way. No firewall should be affecting this. 8. This happens on any internet connection.
I really do not want to resort to restoring the computer to factory settings.
I'm trying to keep the windows 8 start screen open on one screen and have the other open to the desktop, but any time I click an app on the desktop the 2nd screen with the Windows 8 start screen minimizes. Is there any way to change this behavior?
I created a vhd file and cant put it in the recycle bin because every time I try it says Cant open file because it is open in System, I try again but it doesn't work. I've just lost 400gb of disk space!
I'm having random freezes on my Windows 8.1 64bit computer.
I built a custom PC last year and everything is working well until it is around 6-10 months old. Random freezes started occuring. I tried doing reformat but the problem does not go away. Figuring that it may be the problem of Windows 7, I upgraded to windows 8.1 and also added a SSD to use it as a primary drive. 1 week into windows 8.1 and SSD the problem started occuring again, sometimes even when I'm just browsing the internet without viewing videos.
-windows 7+1TB HDD(OS), having a crash -upgraded to windows 8.1+128GB SSD (OS)+1TB HDD(secondary drive), having a crash
I turned file paging off on my SSD and allocated 8GB of virtual memory to my secondary drive. When the crash happens, no BSOD occurs, my screen just freezes and I'm forced to do a hard reset. When there is sound playing while the crash happens, the sound will keep looping until I did a hard reset.
On a windows computer, running the official Windows 8, 64 bit software, silverlignt crashes in the XFINITY site. No problem running Silverlight for NETFIX. Any updates/ Reported the problem in the pre-release version. someone suggested I go back to Windows 7.
I had deleted some items and decided to restore them.
When I open the recycle bin, I can see the files for about 2 seconds and then it seems the system crashes and refreshes/restarts. As soon as it opens, the little blue circle is there spinning.
I tried pinning a Recycle Bin tile to the tile screen and it does the same thing, whether I am in desktop mode or tile screen.
I have tried clicking on "restore all files" quickly when the Recycle Bin is open, but nothing is operable.
I have rebooted, I have checked for updates, and cannot fix it as of yet.
I have a problem that started yesterday. Every 30 seconds Windows Explorer (not the browser) crashes, then restarts. I run Xmarks within FireFox, I thought this was the problem because Xmarks as of yesterday asks me every 40 seconds if I want to sync my bookmarks, if I choose cancel, Windows Explorer will crash then restart.
When Firefox is closed, Explorer continues to crash and restart, almost every 30-35 seconds. I have Windows 8.1 up to date, with all the latest updates, FireFox is up to date. As of writting this post, Windows Explorer has crashed and restarted (5) times.
My Sony Vaio Tap 11 (model: SVT1121C5E) runs very unstable ever since I bought it about 3 months ago. Almost every day the system crashes, sometimes multiple times. Sometimes with prior bluescreen, Windows colleting data and then stopping at 100%.
Occasionally the device shuts down and automatically restarts.Sometimes the screen becomes black and the device can be turned off only by holding the power-button for a few seconds.
I'm running Windows 8.1 and all the current device-drivers, bios-update and Windows-updates are installed.
The event-viewer has some "Event41, Kernel-Power" entries in the category "critical such as following:
I'm getting quite regular BSODs and crashes, previously I was getting crashes from AMD 14.7 beta drives so I swapped down to the 14.4 drivers. Now I'm not getting BSODs from atikmdag.sys, but I'm getting BSODs from what looks like ntoskrnl.exe. Additionally sometimes my computer will freeze, the display will show a static image, and the computer won't respond to keyboard/mouse input. Sounds can be heard to play as normal indefinitely (I haven't left it for more than a minute so not sure how long it would continue). This suggests to me that it's a display driver problem.
Here's the list of BSODs as shown by BlueScreenView:
Highlighted in blue are the crashes before changing drivers.
This is my dxdiag, I'm running an A10-7850k, 8gb corsair vengence pro 2400mhz, fm2a88x-itx+ and an 840 evo ssd.
I can upload any requested dump files or information.
I couldn't use SF diagnostic tool because I don't have .NET framework 3.5 installed, and when trying to install it I got error code 0x800F0906, and following all of MS's instructions failed (could still connected to update server, just not for .NET 3.5, using install media failed probably because 8 is different to 8.1).
This is what BlueScreenView calls a "minidump" (this is for the most recent crash shown above. I'm not sure if this is any different from what SF Debug collects).
I encounter really frequent bsod crashes (3-6 every day) with various errors on my relatively new notebook - Asus G750JH-T4080H. these include:
INTERRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED TIMER_OR_DPC_INVALID DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
Additional info: They mostly occur when in windows, browsing the web using firefox. only very seldom they appear during gaming. i also have to admit that i made recent changes to registry (regarding "The server {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." errors in event log/viewer") because of another problem (but the bsods were already there before that changes, but maybe not so frequently).
I just installed the new 8.1 windows updates, 30 minutes later new bsod appeared (uploaded current Diagnostic Tool zip):
I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. I have normally used bluetooth on my HP Probook 4730s this days with my bluetooth headset. Now I have installed Office Remote Controller Add-In for Office 2013 Pro and since then I was not uble to turn on the bluetooth. I don't believe it's because of this Add-In for Office 2013, but I don't get it what could be wrong. I also can't make a system restore on any date.
When I go to PC Settings and go to Bluetooth, PC Settings just freeze or crash. I have updated bluetooth drivers and that doesn't solve the problem. Reinstalling my Windows is not an option in this moment, because I am working on a lot of projects and it will eat my time if I have to install Windows, Visual Studio, SQL Server and Office again.
Been trying to run fifa12 in windows 8 for a while without success. Initially it asked for .net3,3.5 framework and i installed it. Still its not working. It enters the gamescreen and crashes out in few seconds. The setup menu gives direct3d .net framework exception. have also updated the dirctx runtime.
I sometimes experience crashes when playing some games, which is perfectly normal and I can understand that no program can ever be 100% crash proof, but I have noticed some really annoying behaviour during and after a crash.
With many games, when they crash from a full screen window they often cause the window switching behaviour to stop working, starting task manager to close the program is nearly always impossible because I cant switch to it. Any error dialogues, with important information, cant be viewed because all I can see is a blank black/white window, which cant be closed or interacted with in any way.
Often I find myself struggling to close a crashed app, and resort to logging off or even restarting sometimes.
Things I try that rarely work:
-Trying to even switch window. -Trying to use task manager. -Right clicking on the taskbar icon to close (doesn't close the app when pressed)
How it is caused and is there anyway to get rid of it?
Every time I go to control panel and then hardware and then to touchpad settings I get a crash after making whatever change I want and clicking OK to finish and close. I don't know what the shell common dll is or why it fails but it gets old.
When I turn the wifi on the system crashes and keeps restarting utill i turn it off , also i tried refreshing the pc , it says files are missing and cannot do so ...
I have been having stability issues with my system in my sig. I've recently swapped out the motherboard to the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2. The system passes 10 tests on Intel Burn Test on maximum and also passes tests on Passmark Burn In Test. However, when I run OCCT the system will test for about 1 hour and then crash no bsod or restart just become unresponsive to any commands.
Aside from Prime 95 do you know what else I could try to test my AMD 8350 CPU with? The CPU is running at stock speeds and at default settings within the BIOS.
My Sony Vaio Multi-Flip has been causing a lot of pain recently. A couple of months ago, it was making a lot of noise (which apparently came from the fan) but the problem resolved itself and has rarely occurred in the last 2 months. The engineer said at the time, that it was most likely a fan noise (as opposed to the HDD).
However from the last few days, the laptop shuts down out of nowhere (without a blue screen). This happened 5-6 times consecutively the first time, after which I was somehow able to do a system restore to a couple of weeks earlier, to see if it might have been a software issue. That temporarily seemed to fix it, but a few days later the issue is back. It happens every now and then (say once or twice a day). The laptop just shuts down completely in a snap. What might be causing this? I have an important business trip coming up and the last thing I want is for this to happen when I am in a client meeting.
I notice my CPU temperatures are normally between the 55-70 degrees on average usage, so I wonder if replacing/cleaning the fan is the way to go?
Also, every now and then, I hear a "beeping noise" and I notice this is usually when I lift the laptop up or tilt it slightly, while it is still running. This is shown as a critical error in my event log, with error source "Kernel Power" and error description " The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
DM Log collector results attached as SF Doesnt seem to be working for me on Windows 8.1. The greens status bar doesnt go past the "u" of "lunch" text above it despite waiting for ages.
it crashes randomly (no BSOD, just a total crash with a weird lag sound). And when it does, I restart it and I check my CPU temp ... it's around 55C so I guess the problem ain't overheating.
Weird thing is it crashes when I'm not doing much (listening to music on Itunes, browsing on chrome) ... I don't play much games, but it never crashed during one.

So yeah I know my graphic card is old ... could it be the reason?
i bought a new laptop (HP Envy m6-1140sg) some weeks ago. I have Nortin Internet Security installed.
I wanted to try out that NIS Trial Reset because HP Laptops have NIS already installed. I rebooted my Laptop into safe mode with Network and then started it. I accidentally chose to Purge my NIS. I didn't know what purge means. . I opened the Trial Reset app again and chose to revert my trial to 60 days. Then it disappeared. I rebooted my laptop in Normal Mode and then tried to open NIS. But it didnt come up. I uninstalled NIS and then I noticed this:
When I try to open the Explorer on the desktop, the screen would just go blue and then Explorer closes itself. 2. When I right click a shortcut or anything the screen also goes blue. After the screen goes blue it would go normal again.
PS. I can only open Explorer when i open it through an other shortcut. ex. I got a shortcut to an directory (C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XaerosoftAirbus X ExtendedDocumentation) That is the only way I can open Explorer, but as i said, the screen will go blue if I right click anything.
I often have 3,4,5 sessions of File Explore open at once. [old habit] I can use the keyboard to copy/paste, etc with no problem. But if I use the right mouse click to "copy" or check Properties, or anything else, file explorer freezes for a few seconds, then closes. In fact it closes all sessions and shows the default Windows screen [as if just booting up] and finally all the icons reappear. It takes about 15 seconds for the screen to return to normal.
Replacement mouse does the same. Right click works perfectly inside a file, like to copy text, etc, and inside every other program. Only in File Explorer does it totally crash, no matter if only one open or many.
KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE, it happens while i try to play games on Steam and also while watching Youtube videos. Really, it happens a lot while i just do everyday task. I don't know what the problem is but I have the dump files. I did RAM test and I downloaded all drivers; everything is up to date.
When I import videos from my cameras (.mts and .mov), MM crashes at least four times while editing a clip. I can import the videos, and then MM prepares them, as it did on my Win 7 computer.
I seldom had crashes on my Win 7 laptop, using the same cameras.
