Internet Randomly Disconnects And Choppy Audio
Aug 7, 2014
I have a Windows 8 computer, HP 110-017cb. Here is a look at it online with some of its features and specs: [URL] .....
Now the first problem that I have been having for awhile, is that it randomly disconnects and reconnects to and from the internet. My computer requires an ethernet cord, and it is never unplugged. I have tried different ethernet cords and blown out the ethernet ports on both the computer and the modem, and I cannot identify the problem. It is not the modem as my brother plays our PlayStation 3 online with an ethernet cord and he never gets disconnected.
The other problem I have had is that recently when I watch videos or listen to sounds, the audio gets choppy and distorted, and the whole computer slows down. The most that has ever happened while I was on the computer, was that sometimes I would watch videos online and the video would freeze but the sound would keep playing without a problem. The sound itself has never been distorted before until this problem.

I am running Windows 8 on a Dell Inspiron 3520. At random moments, the internet disconnects. Sites do not load, however it says I am still connected to the network. I have to manually reconnect to my network for the internet to work again. This is quite frustrating. The other laptops I have (and have used for many years) do not have this problem, so I believe it to be a problem with either the OS or the hardware.

Sometimes when I am working on my laptop doing whatever it just disconnects me out of the blue. It shows this stupid icon and says that there are no connections possible:
At first, I did not know what to do so I just began doing some random things on the network center. Then I figured out how to solve it:
First open network center
Then, Open adapter settings
Disable your Wifi network card
Next, Enable it again
And then your internet connection is back again
Now this works fine on short term, it takes like less then one minute.

So, I installed Windows 8.1 x64 from the Windows Store yesterday and now my QB-35US3 Hard-drives keep randomly disconnecting and connecting again. I had no problems before the upgrade. The bay is connected via USB 3.0.
I attached the SF Tool files.

I've tried three mice, Logitech G400, Razer Deathadder 3.5 and a random Logitech wireless but the problem remains.
I haven't found any coincidents when i run a specific program or game. Sometimes it goes a day or two without incident and sometimes multiple times a day. I have run several Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Avast scans but they did not find anything.
I have also ran a "sfc /scannow" and the "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" to fix. I have tried the current drivers for every mouse, tried without drivers and tried to uninstall all drivers all let Windows install them itself.
My specs:
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
System Manufacturer: Acer
System Model: Aspire 5750G
BIOS: InsydeH2O Version V1.21

Whenever I load up Starcraft 2 or TombRaider for example, games that go full screen on my PC, I lose my internet connection. When it comes to Starcraft 2, You need an internet connection to play. I don't know what to do and I've been trying to google up a solution without much success. I have Windows 8 Home Basic and a Netis WF-2117 Wireless PCI adapter.

I'm loving Windows 8 Consumer Preview so far. However, my internet connection (Cable/LAN/Hikari Fiber) is disconnecting after 5 or so seconds. I'm using a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (on an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard).
The system is dual booting with Windows 7 and that connection is perfectly OK. To get it to work again (for 5 seconds) I have to disable and re-enable the controller, and sometimes it seems necessary to delete the connection and set up another one.
Fortunately my connection is fast so I was able to stubbornly update a few small files via Windows Update by reconnecting many times, with a few % progress each time! Non of those updates were related to the connection hardware or this issue though.
So far I've tried (numerous times):
1. (The above update procedure, in case of hardware updates.)
2. Disabling and enabling the controller, and setting up the connection again.
3. (Swapping the drivers with Windows 7's, and then back to the originals.)
4. Re-installing Windows 8
5. Searching Marvell's site for driver updates.
6. Searching Asus's site for updates.
7. (Connection Login and Password are correct)
Points of note:
a. Windows 7 (dual boot) is connecting fine.
b. This is a hobby, so basic stuff should have been covered.
c. The timezone, date and time are set correctly.
This motherboard is very popular, and I don't see similar issues online, other than maybe wireless ones. I wouldn't have expected things to be too different from Windows 7. I'm expecting it is a simple driver issue.

Well there's this game that uses HTTP protocol for everything. I built a new computer with Windows 8.1 Pro as my OS and whenever I try to play the game my internet ends up disconnecting. (connection from my computer to the router, the router itself doesn't disconnect)
This never happens with any other game, my internet never disconnects from anything else at all really. Whenever I open the game, try to download and view another user's replay or just in general try to do anything from within the game I end up disconnecting.
I'm using the exact same router/internet that I was using on my old computer (although a new network adapter, same model though) which was running W7 Ultimate. It's making playing the game very frustrating considering it needs an internet connection to officially submit any kind of scores you make.

I have a wireless router and am connecting 2 phones (wifi) and 1 PC (ethernet). The PC is running Windows 8 and has two User Accounts (I'll call them "Business" and "Personal").
Since setting up the router, the phones have connected over wifi without problem. If I log onto the "Personal" user account on my PC, it connects over ethernet, and the phones still work with wifi.
However, if I log my PC onto my "Business" user account, the PC says it has connected to the Home Hub via the ethernet cable, but there is no internet connection. It also causes the internet connection on the phones to drop (sometimes the wifi goes down completely, sometimes it says it's connected to wifi, but there is no internet). I don't think it's an ethernet problem either, as I connected my PC wirelessly instead of with the cable, and the same thing happens.
The PC only ever does this on the "Business" user account, the "Personal" account works fine (I'm using that now). Looked everywhere to find a solution, I assume it's something in the settings, rather than a router issue. Can't find the answer anywhere.

I've had this laptop over a year now, and just recently I've noticed when I leave it on a while and come back, either the audio of the entire laptop will die, or online videos just won't play. After restarting it goes back to normal until a few hours later when it happens again. I'm not sure what to do here.

Occasionally, my audio will randomly disable itself (as in, the volume doesn't change but the audio is muted). Additionally, whenever my audio turns off, any video or song (as in, youtube videos and songs from iTunes and Zune) slow down dramatically. So, I cannot "watch" text either, because the video is playing at around .25x speed. Whenever it does happen, it is normally after I unplug my headset, but it doesn't happen every time I unplug it. Finally, it is beginning to happen more randomly. I will be watching a video and as soon as I pause it, the audio disables.

When i try to record from my sound card the volume will randomly go up and down when i try to replay it.
When I try to record from my microphone in the microphone input port it gives an odd problem. Whenever I sustain a note it begins to record just fine but after about 2 seconds the volume adjusts down to about 20% of the original and continues to record. It does this in multiple sounds recording software programs. I have skype turned off and no other microphones hooked up. In the communications tab of the sounds menu I have set it to 'do nothing' but this had no effect. It seems like there is some sort of auto volume leveling thing going on but I cannot find where it would be. I have an HP desktop with beats audio not sure about the sound card otherwise.

So recently the sound on my machine will randomly stop working- no apps produce sound, Chrome doesn't, not even the system sounds. I posted about this on another forum which told me to check for hardware changes in the device manager, but that doesn't seem to be working, or at least not consistently.
From what I can tell, the sound won't cut out if it's playing. It will only stop when there's nothing playing at all. After that, it just comes back when it feels like it it seems. I've tried updating my sound drivers and everything, nothing is muted, so I'm at a loss.

Okay well this happened like 2-3 weeks ago, i have an extremely annoying problem.. The sound of my computer would randomly stop working for some reason.. Not only that, but when i watch youtube the video or any video it won't load and it would literally pause or freeze.
To fix this i would have to disconnect/reconnect my headset or disable/enable my headset through the sound control panel; when i do this, it seems to fix everything, as the sound would come back and the videos would load back up and work normally again, but in 20min or 1hour the same problem would occur again and i would have to do the same process over and over again..
My OS is windows 8.1
And my headset is a Logitech H540

This is a problem I've encountered on 2 totally different devices. The first was a stationary self built computer, and I figured the problem had to come from compatibility issues, maybe some kind of internal arguments between drivers and hardware, so I returned to Windows 7 and thought nothing more about it. Win 8 was still pretty new back then.
Then about half a year ago I bought a Fujitsu UH572 with Windows 8 pre-installed from the factory.where around every 20 minutes there's a 5 second window with choppy playback of sound, no matter which player used. VLC, Google music, youtube, Gom player etc..
This issue is far beyond ridiculous, considering Win 8 is meant to be Microsoft's big save, re-inventing the hole user experience on PC. So far I have next to nothing bad to say about the years I've spent using Win 7 x64, in contrast to Win 8 which so far has given nothing but anger management issues.

Just acquired my first win 8 laptop. I had a loaner win 8 and hated everything between the computer and OS. I really like this Lenovo but im still having issues with win 8. Mainly this computer and the rental one seems very bogged down. Everything from social media or streaming etc even scrolling down this forum page has such a Lag or delay. Is this typical for win 8, can i do anything about this?
the lag is a delay. everytime I would scroll down a page it would have a delay, or if i stream a video (I use chromecast) it is delayed and choppy. My Win 7 Laptop had zero issues like these.

For some reason quicktime files are choppy and jittery during playback in Windows 8. I have the latest Quicktime installed with no other codecs.
I tried playback in the quicktime player as well as in adobe products (premiere, after effects, etc.).
Here's a preview of what the playback looks like: [URL] ...
The same rotating star video plays fine on my windows XP machine.

I have a very fast internet connection and video plays fine on all media players on my machine with local video files and internet video but when I try to play video files from a storage drive on a shared Windows 7 machine on my home network the video will play fine for a few minutes then buffer some, then play choppy. It is very intermittent. Also when I open the Homegroup and click on a shared computer (I have several on my Home Network) it will give me an error message saying that the share is not available or cannot be found but if I wait approximately 30-45 seconds and try it again it will usually open the share. I have seen a lot of posts concerning Networking issues in Win 8, is there no fix because from all I have read it seems to be hit and miss. I really would like to get this issue resolved as this throws a monkey wrench in my plans for a HTPC.

I recently upgraded my OS from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, and everything seemed to run normally. I have to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, which isn't a problem at all. However, whenever I plug in the battery charger, the ethernet connection stops working, but I can still connect via Wifi adapter.
I can't use wifi most of the time, so this does bother me a lot.

I've installed 8.1 on a PC from the store and then one of my three internal drives, my data drive, would intermittently connect / disconnect. I was not able to find a solution so I recovered my Win 8.0 installation from a backup and now everything works well again. I'll try to reinstall Win 8.1 in a few weeks - suspect it's a bug that Microsoft will eventually squash. I also Installed 8.1 on two laptops from the store with no problems - however they do not have additional internal drives.

I have been having trouble with the WiFi connection on my laptop for quite a while now. It used to be that it would simply disconnect from wifi for now apparent reason, but I changed a few settings and now that seems to be resolved for the most part. I have a new problem though. The wifi tends to disconnect for just a couple of seconds occasionally, and then fix itself. It wouldn't be a problem, but the interrupt is usually enough to kill my Skype calls (which I do a lot of) or any VPN connections I am on (which I also do a lot of). What would cause a momentary interruption in wifi?

I have Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit activated using kmspico. For some reason, every time I wake up my computer, it disconnects it from the Wifi and when I try reconnecting it, it won't reconnect, then I had to restart my computer to connect it again successfully. This never happened on the computer's previous Os's.

About a few days ago I tried copying some stuff from my old laptop to my new one with my Toshiba HDD (750GB). Some are large sizes.
At least 2 files were corrupted and from then on out, I've been having issues with the external. The folder it was in could not be deleted. I tried EVERY possible way to delete it (it SEEMED to delete all the files when i did but it says there are still files in it). I ran all kinds of checks and defrag fixes and I assumed everything was fine (files showed up...) But now I can transfer files FROM it but not TO it. Once in a while I'd be able to get some stuff onto it but then it disconnects and says that the file I'm trying to copy from my laptop (both laptops now) is not in its location. Then the external HDD disconnects then reconnects. And I am having that folder deletion problem again.
EDIT: now I'm having issues transferring FROM the external.

The problem I am having is that the SD card disconnects after a few minutes of no activity, I then have to take it out of the tablet and pout it back in. I then have the folder in my C Drive again. How do I prevent the SD card from disconnecting so that I can use it as additional storage?

For Christmas we purchased an all in one Dell Inspiron, along with a new Toshiba LED TV. I just recently figured out how to use the TV's mediashare function, playing video/audio files from my Dell's hard drive.
Prior to the update to Windows 8.1, there didn't seem to be any issues. However, since that update, we'll be watching a video file (several, it doesn't seem to matter what the file is) and the file will stop playing, and a message saying connection was lost will pop up. When I then check the computer, it shows it has "limited connection" to the home network, and I'll have to disconnect and reconnect before we can start watching again.
From what I can tell, it ONLY happens during mediashare use, and never during normal computer usage.
