Periodical Movie / Music Choppy Playback In Windows 8
Oct 4, 2013
This is a problem I've encountered on 2 totally different devices. The first was a stationary self built computer, and I figured the problem had to come from compatibility issues, maybe some kind of internal arguments between drivers and hardware, so I returned to Windows 7 and thought nothing more about it. Win 8 was still pretty new back then.
Then about half a year ago I bought a Fujitsu UH572 with Windows 8 pre-installed from the factory.where around every 20 minutes there's a 5 second window with choppy playback of sound, no matter which player used. VLC, Google music, youtube, Gom player etc..
This issue is far beyond ridiculous, considering Win 8 is meant to be Microsoft's big save, re-inventing the hole user experience on PC. So far I have next to nothing bad to say about the years I've spent using Win 7 x64, in contrast to Win 8 which so far has given nothing but anger management issues.
I have added music(.mp3s) or sound effects on my videos no problem on Movie maker..
But i am having a bit of a problem now it keeps on saying ''error adding Music starts after the last(photo or video)'' in project. i have tried it and it still won't work doing.
And i was putting sound effects or music in the middle or and the start of my videos and in fact i have added a sound effect today before it kept coming up with adding music error.
The mp3s (and sound effects) are not corrupted.
Why am i getting this adding music error all of the sudden? How do i fix this stupid problem?
I have to delay posting my video since sunday(upload day) for my Youtube Channel now i will have to do it again for another day and i have been working very hard on this video.
I upgraded from Win7 to Windows 8 (both running the MS Media Center) and it's created a problem with music playback . It used to work fine, but now I get random stutters. Sometimes it goes 10 or 15 minutes without any problem, but often it's more frequent than that - and it's very, very annoying. The system runs an AMD A8 APU, Gigabyte A75M UD2H motherboard, 4 GB of RAM and Win 8 Pro with MC. I use the audio on the motherboard (Realtek HD audio) and output is via SPDIF to a dedicated DAC (brand is Rega) and then to a Denon amp. I've had no problems with audio from DVD/Blu-Ray, TV (via TV tuner card) or when streaming TV programs via the internet. Music is my prime use for the media center.
By the way, I've tried upgrading all the drivers I can, eg downloaded latest drivers from Gigabyte website, AMD website, Realtek website, Linksys website (for WUSB600N wireless network adapter). There is a newer driver for my TV tuner card (KWorld PCIE dual tuner PE310) available via MS update but last time I tried updating drivers for that card via MS update I lost all my TV channels and had to roll-back and re-scan them to recover.
I have an older MC system (running an Athlon 64 ) which I also upgraded from Win7 to Windows 8, and it seems to have no problem. It uses analogue audio out to an external amp.
I've read that Windows 8 has DPC latency problems and that can cause audio stutter. I downloaded some software which measures the latency, and it was showing a consistent value, in the "yellow" range - which seemed to mean it was slightly higher than ideal but shouldn't have been a problem. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the software now, or where I found it(!!).
I am trying out Xbox Music and a Lumia 920. I am downloading songs from Xbox Music and creating playlists, but it never shows up Windows 8 desktop. When I add songs and playlists on my desktop, they show up on the Lumia 920.
Using the Windows 8.1 music app, I have properly setup my library to load from my second HDD, but it only loads 80 artists out of over 120. All my music is properly tagged and in Artist/Year - Album/ folder format.
I deleted my music from my music app and cannot re-add it. The files were added automatically the first time, but now the app won't add them. Can I refresh the cache for the music app or what can I do?
I have a Windows 8 computer, HP 110-017cb. Here is a look at it online with some of its features and specs: [URL] .....
Now the first problem that I have been having for awhile, is that it randomly disconnects and reconnects to and from the internet. My computer requires an ethernet cord, and it is never unplugged. I have tried different ethernet cords and blown out the ethernet ports on both the computer and the modem, and I cannot identify the problem. It is not the modem as my brother plays our PlayStation 3 online with an ethernet cord and he never gets disconnected.
The other problem I have had is that recently when I watch videos or listen to sounds, the audio gets choppy and distorted, and the whole computer slows down. The most that has ever happened while I was on the computer, was that sometimes I would watch videos online and the video would freeze but the sound would keep playing without a problem. The sound itself has never been distorted before until this problem.
I recently migrated to Windows 8. My music collection stumbled along the way and I had to re-fetch artwork for a few albums in WMP. I also set it up in iTunes. My default app for MP3s is WMP. As you can see below, artwork only appears when in the folder view (which somewhat defeats the purpose of libraries in the first place). I'd prefer to sort them by artist, with album art displayed without a folder, as it should and as it did in Windows 7.
Art appears in folder view but not artist or album view.
On a related note, I recently added many new MP3s to my collection. When I opened Xbox Music for the first time afterwards, it seemed to be downloading art to add it to my older albums, all of which have art. Then the process was somehow interrupted. I believe I closed the app. Then, when I opened it again, none of them had art.
I had recently replaced my HDD with SSD, So I had backed up & erased all the personal files including music, videos etc from respective folders, Actually there is no files other than system files, programs, softwares in the SSD now, I had done disk cleanup, defrag , clearing of temp, prefetch folders etc before starting the cloning everything from HDD to SSD,
After replacement, now I could see all my collection of songs/music in the Now Playing section of Music App (Modern app), No music files are actually present for me to locate in any of the folders when I go through for explorer,
I'm not able to play the music files by clicking it from Music App , & when I delete it from there by right clicking it - temporarily goes away but returns when i close the App and opens it again..
I had unchecked & checked the indexing option in the Music folder (File Explorer) - properties & restarted system, checked, But still all the music files are listed in the App, how to clear the music file listings from the Music app permanently which are not really present in the system?
Just acquired my first win 8 laptop. I had a loaner win 8 and hated everything between the computer and OS. I really like this Lenovo but im still having issues with win 8. Mainly this computer and the rental one seems very bogged down. Everything from social media or streaming etc even scrolling down this forum page has such a Lag or delay. Is this typical for win 8, can i do anything about this?
the lag is a delay. everytime I would scroll down a page it would have a delay, or if i stream a video (I use chromecast) it is delayed and choppy. My Win 7 Laptop had zero issues like these.

When I launched movie maker it would not start. I tried reinstalling but no luck. Heres a screenshot. I've already also tried installing the newest video card driver too.
System specs are : OS: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit Processor: Intel Pentium CPU 3.40 GHz 3.41 GHz RAM: 4.00 GB Video card: ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series DirectX: DirectX 11
I'm using the latest version of WMM and been having a strange issue. I am using muted MP4 videos and an MP3 song. When I start the video at the beginning, it would play differently then it would if I started at a certain clip. For example, if I start the video at the title screen, and then it went into the next clip, it would play slightly behind compared to starting the video at the clip. I know I should use a better editor, but free ones always has adware.
Relatively new laptop, Toshiba Satellite P75-A7100. Windows 8, getting used to it.
I like to make "movies" with Movie Maker of my pix and scrapbook pages, etc. and I create an annual slide show for our ACS Relay For Life. Downloaded Windows Essentials because I like and am most familiar with Movie Maker.
Created a new project, added jpgs, added mp3s. Worked fine................and then it didn't. Jpgs are still there, project is saved, looks like music is there, but no sound will come out.
I need my Movie Make to work. It worked just fine when I had Windows 7, but now (As a Windows 8 user) when I try to save anything the system says it is trying to repair the problem and then kicks me out.
I only really use Movie maker for the trim tool and a few other features, as it is so easy to use. However, I have an enormous file that will not compress any further. I need to trim it in order to send it but Movie Maker will not allow me to.
How do I fix this? Is there another option? Why is Movie Maker not compatible with 8?
I was happily using Windows Movie Maker 2012 on Windows 8 for several days, when all of a sudden the sound stopped working. Whenever I try to play a clip from a video camera, a former project, or a finished movie file on my computer, the video plays but with absolutely no sound. I have tried putting in mp3 songs, and those do not play with sound either. I can see and single out the audio tracks to clips, but I cannot hear anything. Sound on the computer is working fine, and the clips play in Windows Media Player and other media players. I have tried uninstalling Windows Movie Maker and reinstalling it. It worked initially, but I waited a few days and tried again only to have the same problem occur.
(P.S., I did try Windows Movie Maker 6, but it does not accept certain movie file formats that my video camera uses, so I went back to WMM 2012.)
I have been using Movie Maker in Windows 8 to edit video (MP4 H.264) files. How to burn movie to disc. I have dvd burner software but can't load movie to it. How I might do this? If not possible any alternative video editor/burner software.
I need to edit some bass fishing videos but when I dragged the videos into windows movie maker and let them play, the bar moved but nothing was shown in the preview box.
Windows Movie Maker 2.6 freezes and stops responding when I make an audio track shorter. What can I do? And I want to use Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for some simple stuff sometimes, because other video making softwares are too difficult for some simple stuff many times...
how to delete music from music app i delete all my music from my pc but when ever i open the music app it stream my music back wth i want to delete everything start from scratch
I have a very fast internet connection and video plays fine on all media players on my machine with local video files and internet video but when I try to play video files from a storage drive on a shared Windows 7 machine on my home network the video will play fine for a few minutes then buffer some, then play choppy. It is very intermittent. Also when I open the Homegroup and click on a shared computer (I have several on my Home Network) it will give me an error message saying that the share is not available or cannot be found but if I wait approximately 30-45 seconds and try it again it will usually open the share. I have seen a lot of posts concerning Networking issues in Win 8, is there no fix because from all I have read it seems to be hit and miss. I really would like to get this issue resolved as this throws a monkey wrench in my plans for a HTPC.
I just got the BSOD while watching a movie. I had this problem even while gaming, but seemed to be solved by lifetec. Today I got another BSOD while watching a movie. I just made a rar file with a mini dump file into it.
I have just interviewed a client using the webcam recording function of movie maker. I'm now back to review and edit the video and I don't hear any sound..! I tested it with a short 5 second video of myself before I left and everything was fine.
HP Laptop WIN 8, Does NOT play back any videos!!!!!!
I've sent my friend different video formats, but he can not open any of them.
Does he simply need to remove FLASH, and re-install the program....Does he also have to go into Flash settings, if there is one, and change to ALL FILE TYPES, like Windows Explorer has in it's tools, or settings? he and I also have DROPBOX, but without a player, he still can not play any videos.
What should he try next? He's not that close to me, and doubt if he knows how to download new programs like FLV, or another kind of program to work with this HP Laptop, or even go into ADD/REMOVE programs and delete the FLASH PROGRAM. If you need the model. I will get that shortly.
Does it also matter if he's using the ADOBE FLASH, or NOT? I'm not sure what his laptop has.
I use pinnacle Studio 15, so I can convert almost any video to a format, but playing on all computers can be challenging, with not everyone having the same video players. Mpg, Avi, .Mov, Quicktime, Flash
Today I was playing a Facebook game, and I had Youtube playing a song. I scrolling down the Youtube page to see what other songs it recommended to me and my PC crashed. After the computer restarted there was a problem with my video card drivers which was causing everything to be viewed at a different resolution. This led me to believe it was a problem with my video card drivers. Therefore, I checked ATI's website and they have a newer beta driver so I installed that. I was curious to make sure the BSOD was a video card driver issue so I fired up bluescreenviewx64. Its saying the crash was caused by tcpip.sys driver.
When listening to any sound source like Youtube or BBC iPlayer the quality on this Windows 8 machine, HP Pavilion, is ok. If I record the music on either Audacity or Windows sound recorder the playback sounds weird like the speakers were under water. Tried changing levels but no difference made.
The volume for media playback is way to low in windows I have tried everything from disabling enhancements, I also have installed SRS HD audio software also with low volume.
An audio booster, or anything that would boost SRS Audio output. I also after using the default driver provided by Windows 8, updated to the newest Realtek HD driver, and still no difference.
I have a dell venue pro. I rented a movie on the pre-installed video app (xbox). I opted to download the movie so I can watch it remotely. I got a download error because of low disc space. The c drive is low on memory but I have a completely empty microsd card with more then enough room for the movie. How can I make the app download onto the msd card instead of the main drive? The app itself has no such option in the settings. I've tried to change the pathway but the app still seems to want to download the the c drive first.
It's been a while but I just got a blue screen and The only thing I've done was install movie maker and I read that might be the cause, it baffles be because that's about the only thing I've changed in the last month with no issues.
Media Player 32bit will prompt a window with "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file." and when I click web support, the code in the title is the error. I've installed a codec pack for Media Player and Media Player Plus, these haven't and probably shouldn't cause playback errors. The 64bit Media Player plays back all MP3s so I've resorted to using that currently, but it means I can't play FLAC files etc.
In the SF thread I initially started, with every MP3 that plays on VLC, it won't always state the codec information, and it's not related to which tracks play and don't on the 32bit Media Player. I've also attempted removing ID3 headers to no avail.
