Windows 8 - Using Movie Maker To Edit Video (MP4 H.264) Files
Apr 17, 2013I have been using Movie Maker in Windows 8 to edit video (MP4 H.264) files. How to burn movie to disc. I have dvd burner software but can't load movie to it. How I might do this? If not possible any alternative video editor/burner software.

Jan 6, 2013Virtually every file shows read only when I right click on it and choose properties. In uncheck read only, then click apply and choose applies to all subfolders and files. Windows appears to change the properties (a window opens up and a green progress bar fills). But if I click OK and close properties, when I look at properties again, they are shown as read only again.
This happens both when I am logged in under my user name, as well as if I log in as administrator.
The only difficulty it's created so far was when attempting ti embed a cover art JPG into an MP3 file in my music library.
Windows 8.1 - Transferred Files / Can't Turn Off Read Only
Jul 2, 2014I have windows 8.1 on a computer I am just trying to start using. However, when I transfer any of my personal files from the old computer they all end up as read-only. I try to change them, but they always revert back to read-only. The directories in the new computer are classified as read-only also, and cannot be changed. How can I solve this?

Apr 1, 2013When I launched movie maker it would not start. I tried reinstalling but no luck. Heres a screenshot. I've already also tried installing the newest video card driver too.

Apr 30, 2014I'm using the latest version of WMM and been having a strange issue. I am using muted MP4 videos and an MP3 song. When I start the video at the beginning, it would play differently then it would if I started at a certain clip. For example, if I start the video at the title screen, and then it went into the next clip, it would play slightly behind compared to starting the video at the clip. I know I should use a better editor, but free ones always has adware.

I like to make "movies" with Movie Maker of my pix and scrapbook pages, etc. and I create an annual slide show for our ACS Relay For Life. Downloaded Windows Essentials because I like and am most familiar with Movie Maker.
Created a new project, added jpgs, added mp3s. Worked fine................and then it didn't. Jpgs are still there, project is saved, looks like music is there, but no sound will come out.
Live Movie Maker Error Adding Music (MP3)?
Mar 25, 2014I have added music(.mp3s) or sound effects on my videos no problem on Movie maker..
But i am having a bit of a problem now it keeps on saying ''error adding Music starts after the last(photo or video)'' in project. i have tried it and it still won't work doing.
And i was putting sound effects or music in the middle or and the start of my videos and in fact i have added a sound effect today before it kept coming up with adding music error.
The mp3s (and sound effects) are not corrupted.
Why am i getting this adding music error all of the sudden? How do i fix this stupid problem?
I have to delay posting my video since sunday(upload day) for my Youtube Channel now i will have to do it again for another day and i have been working very hard on this video.

Jan 22, 2013I need my Movie Make to work. It worked just fine when I had Windows 7, but now (As a Windows 8 user) when I try to save anything the system says it is trying to repair the problem and then kicks me out.
I only really use Movie maker for the trim tool and a few other features, as it is so easy to use. However, I have an enormous file that will not compress any further. I need to trim it in order to send it but Movie Maker will not allow me to.
How do I fix this? Is there another option? Why is Movie Maker not compatible with 8?
Periodical Movie / Music Choppy Playback In Windows 8
Oct 4, 2013This is a problem I've encountered on 2 totally different devices. The first was a stationary self built computer, and I figured the problem had to come from compatibility issues, maybe some kind of internal arguments between drivers and hardware, so I returned to Windows 7 and thought nothing more about it. Win 8 was still pretty new back then.
Then about half a year ago I bought a Fujitsu UH572 with Windows 8 pre-installed from the factory.where around every 20 minutes there's a 5 second window with choppy playback of sound, no matter which player used. VLC, Google music, youtube, Gom player etc..
This issue is far beyond ridiculous, considering Win 8 is meant to be Microsoft's big save, re-inventing the hole user experience on PC. So far I have next to nothing bad to say about the years I've spent using Win 7 x64, in contrast to Win 8 which so far has given nothing but anger management issues.
Audio :: Movie Maker 2012 On Windows 8 - No Sound
Jan 13, 2014I was happily using Windows Movie Maker 2012 on Windows 8 for several days, when all of a sudden the sound stopped working. Whenever I try to play a clip from a video camera, a former project, or a finished movie file on my computer, the video plays but with absolutely no sound. I have tried putting in mp3 songs, and those do not play with sound either. I can see and single out the audio tracks to clips, but I cannot hear anything. Sound on the computer is working fine, and the clips play in Windows Media Player and other media players. I have tried uninstalling Windows Movie Maker and reinstalling it. It worked initially, but I waited a few days and tried again only to have the same problem occur.
(P.S., I did try Windows Movie Maker 6, but it does not accept certain movie file formats that my video camera uses, so I went back to WMM 2012.)

Feb 12, 2014I have a dell venue pro. I rented a movie on the pre-installed video app (xbox). I opted to download the movie so I can watch it remotely. I got a download error because of low disc space. The c drive is low on memory but I have a completely empty microsd card with more then enough room for the movie. How can I make the app download onto the msd card instead of the main drive? The app itself has no such option in the settings. I've tried to change the pathway but the app still seems to want to download the the c drive first.

Sep 13, 2013My prior pc had some major issues (win7) while I had an external WD backup drive attached. During my troubleshooting I had reinstalled win7 and hooked my backup drive back onto the system. At the time I had not taken the time to restore or take ownership of the backup drive/files. It ran fine for a while with backups occurring regularly when finally it had major motherboard issues at which point I gave up and purchased a new Dell PC with Windows 8 (one I'm using now).
After setting it up I proceeded to connect the external backup drive and restore the folder I really needed as it contained all the photos, files, music, etc from the old pc. After doing so I was able to open/view the files that were backed up on my old pc AFTER I had reinstalled win7 but could not view the older backed up files/images etc. I then used the take ownership steps in this tread but this did not appear to work either. When I attempt to open the restored files/folders from my prior pc that are older I only get a default image of the Windows 8 icon for that file. get access to all my backed up files?

Jul 22, 2013Because I don't want Flash Player Utilities running at startup I have renamed the 2 files that run at startup:
C:WindowsSystem32MacromeFlashUtil_ActiveX.dll
and
C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlashUJtil_ActiveX.exe
Somehow they got created again. The ones I renamed are still there but somehow the original files are back in the folder again.
I want this disabled! There are no references to this in any of the 'Run' registry entries and I don't see a Service for this either. How to prevent this annoying piece of garbage from recurring?

A file on the volume is no longer reachable from its parent directory. The parent file reference number is 0x2000000000002. The name of the parent directory is "". The parent index attribute is ":$I30:$INDEX_ALLOCATION". The file reference number of the file that needs to be reconnected is 0x400000003db80. There may be additional files on the volume that also need to be reconnected to this parent directory.
What is wrong (my personal analysis):
To me, it seems that for some reason there is one (all the Event Viewer details point to similar error) corrupted / missing Windows (System) file that is causing this, but what the file(s) is/are.
Other symptoms on my laptop is that after loggin in and using whatever app (Windows delivered or 3rd party), the whole laptop jams totally for say 30-240 seconds and all apps go to "Not Responding" state untill Laptop recovers AND I can continue using my Laptop "normally".
What has been done trying to fix that:
SSD disk has been changed (image from previous SSD copied back) -> no solution, error remainschkdsk /F /R -> no solution, error remainsSFC /scannow -> no solution, error remainsdism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth -> no solution, error remains after a few bootsTRIED using Windows 8.1 "Update & Recovery -> Refresh Your PC without affecting your files" -> Inserted the Lenovo "Operating System Recovery Disk Windows 8 Pro (OEM Activation 3.0 Required)" BUT Windows did not accept that DVD claiming "The media inserted is not valid"... ???Ended up calling Lenovo Support and they instructed me to order the Recovery DVD from Lenovorecovery.com -> Waiting that to arrive...
So how to solve this (prior proper (?) the Recovery DVD arrives)? I would absolutely NOT want to re-install everything from scratch...

Mar 31, 2013Recently I refreshed my laptop to make it faster(and to remove the viruses/spyware). Before I refreshed it, it has Sony exclusive programs like the VAIO smart network etc. I backup it both manually and with file history. I found the Sony programs and copied it to my computer. The problem is, how do you install it again? I cant find it in the search tab nor I dont know of I can still open it but I know that it is in fact complete. How do you think I should install it and as much as possible I dont want to use the file history method!

The more I read about backups, files, settings and disc images I get more confused. I see that if I don't do it right and my computer crashes, I may have not saved what I needed.
First should I use the software supplied with the Seagate drive? Or use Windows?
Do all my files need to be in the libraries folder to get saved? Like documents, music, pictures and videos?
