I just used sfc scannow and it said that some files were unabled to be fixed.
I have attached the logs.
Right now I can't open any metro tiles, so
I have done sfc/ scannow a few time and cannot fix the corrupted files. I was wondering what can I do to fix all these problem?
Here are the CBS file. Been looking at a few thread and it seems that uploading this file will be useful.
Code: CBS.txt
I've been trying several things throughout the day and I have had no success in fixing the corrupted files. I have ran "sfc /scannow" several times (even in safe mode). I have also ran "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" before and after "sfc /scannow" to no avail.
I am running Windows 8.1, I tried booting from my Windows 8 Pro DVD but whenever I tried to run "sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c: /offwindir=d:windows" I would get an error: Windows Resource Protection could not start the Repair service". How I can fix this without doing a clean install or refresh?
CBS.log (txt file)
When i run the sfc /scannow command, it always stops at 52% and gives an error that some system files are corrupted but can not repaired.
Some extracts of the log:
2013-04-04 12:45:13, Error CSI 000003be@2013/4/4:10:45:13.220 (F) basewcpsilmerged
tu
tsystem.cpp(2155): Error STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND originated in function Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation:irectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile expression: (null)
[gle=0x80004005]
So i think it as to do with partitions? But why the scan always stops at 52%.
bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500.
Tried this command because of Fallen Samurai Shogun 2 not working onmy windows 8 x64 enterprise. Says command not recognised.
So I tried. SFC /Scannow
Said the windows resource protection could not start the repair service.
So I checked services: Windows module installer. It was set to manual already. It was not running though. I pressed Run. And tried again SFC/scannow.
When I run SFC, I get "Windows Resources did not find any integrity violations", however when I run DISM, I get the message "The component store is repairable" and "Could not locate source file" messages. This seems to be inconsistent - is there something I should do, or is it normal? Just trying to understand the results when I run these.

I followed the tutorial on this site for scannow. When completed (no errors), I typed exit at the command prompt. I have only a blank screen with functioning mouse pointer. When restarting I get the hp logo, then the windows "please wait" icon for about one second then it goes black. I originally cloned windows from my sea gate 1Tb hhd to the toshiba ssd. I can boot from the hhd with no issues. Just won't boot from ssd. I would run the recovery disc but it claims I need 140 Gb to do so and I only have 128Gb.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhow can i back up all of my files like i have done in windows 7 to external hard dirve
also how can make a backup image of computer like in windows 7
My prior pc had some major issues (win7) while I had an external WD backup drive attached. During my troubleshooting I had reinstalled win7 and hooked my backup drive back onto the system. At the time I had not taken the time to restore or take ownership of the backup drive/files. It ran fine for a while with backups occurring regularly when finally it had major motherboard issues at which point I gave up and purchased a new Dell PC with Windows 8 (one I'm using now).
After setting it up I proceeded to connect the external backup drive and restore the folder I really needed as it contained all the photos, files, music, etc from the old pc. After doing so I was able to open/view the files that were backed up on my old pc AFTER I had reinstalled win7 but could not view the older backed up files/images etc. I then used the take ownership steps in this tread but this did not appear to work either. When I attempt to open the restored files/folders from my prior pc that are older I only get a default image of the Windows 8 icon for that file. get access to all my backed up files?
I got some Movies on my Laptop. And i want to see them but they can`t read the file ! I watched the dictator like 2-3 days ago and then it worked.

Details are included in the CBS.Log windirLogsCBSCBS.log.

Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios. I don't want to do another clean install. Here is my CBS log as well ...
Because I don't want Flash Player Utilities running at startup I have renamed the 2 files that run at startup:
C:WindowsSystem32MacromeFlashUtil_ActiveX.dll
and
C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlashUJtil_ActiveX.exe
Somehow they got created again. The ones I renamed are still there but somehow the original files are back in the folder again.
I want this disabled! There are no references to this in any of the 'Run' registry entries and I don't see a Service for this either. How to prevent this annoying piece of garbage from recurring?
I have a fairly new (purchased 8/2013) Lenovo ThinkPad T431s with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. It has a very tricky error coming basically 8 / 10 boots: Windows is Scanning and repairing drive...
Error details from Windows Event Viewer:
A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume ?Volume{f62db2cf-efe4-4b55-a3f7-0e7db991a984}.
A file on the volume is no longer reachable from its parent directory. The parent file reference number is 0x2000000000002. The name of the parent directory is "". The parent index attribute is ":$I30:$INDEX_ALLOCATION". The file reference number of the file that needs to be reconnected is 0x400000003db80. There may be additional files on the volume that also need to be reconnected to this parent directory.
What is wrong (my personal analysis):
To me, it seems that for some reason there is one (all the Event Viewer details point to similar error) corrupted / missing Windows (System) file that is causing this, but what the file(s) is/are.
Other symptoms on my laptop is that after loggin in and using whatever app (Windows delivered or 3rd party), the whole laptop jams totally for say 30-240 seconds and all apps go to "Not Responding" state untill Laptop recovers AND I can continue using my Laptop "normally".
What has been done trying to fix that:
SSD disk has been changed (image from previous SSD copied back) -> no solution, error remainschkdsk /F /R -> no solution, error remainsSFC /scannow -> no solution, error remainsdism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth -> no solution, error remains after a few bootsTRIED using Windows 8.1 "Update & Recovery -> Refresh Your PC without affecting your files" -> Inserted the Lenovo "Operating System Recovery Disk Windows 8 Pro (OEM Activation 3.0 Required)" BUT Windows did not accept that DVD claiming "The media inserted is not valid"... ???Ended up calling Lenovo Support and they instructed me to order the Recovery DVD from Lenovorecovery.com -> Waiting that to arrive...
So how to solve this (prior proper (?) the Recovery DVD arrives)? I would absolutely NOT want to re-install everything from scratch...
Recently I refreshed my laptop to make it faster(and to remove the viruses/spyware). Before I refreshed it, it has Sony exclusive programs like the VAIO smart network etc. I backup it both manually and with file history. I found the Sony programs and copied it to my computer. The problem is, how do you install it again? I cant find it in the search tab nor I dont know of I can still open it but I know that it is in fact complete. How do you think I should install it and as much as possible I dont want to use the file history method!

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhat it really means to "back up" your data. I got a Seagate drive for making backups. Before I install it I need clarification.
The more I read about backups, files, settings and disc images I get more confused. I see that if I don't do it right and my computer crashes, I may have not saved what I needed.
First should I use the software supplied with the Seagate drive? Or use Windows?
Do all my files need to be in the libraries folder to get saved? Like documents, music, pictures and videos?
Do I need to make a system disc also? This is just to boot up the PC if it fails?
see attchments...I think I need to know what service or process needs to be turned on.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am planning to format my laptop. I have C and D. I want to completely delete drive C and make a partition of 200GB instead of 217GB. Then I want to take that leftover partition (17GB) and add it to D to have 250GB. On the D, I have my files and photos. I use C for OS and programs only. So if I take that leftover and merge it to D, will D get corrupted?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently ran a Disk Cleanup as part of my regular maintenance on my new computer. It had over 2.18GB of files to cleanup. That seemed a little high considering I run it every week to 2 weeks. It said it deleted all the files. I ran the Scan Disk again to be sure and it still had 2.18GB of files. I ran it again. Same result. I have a ton of room on the computer right now, but this could be a major problem down the road. Why my Disk Cleanup would appear to be working and then not delete anything?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently decided to upgrade to Windows 8.1 but in doing so I turned off my computer because it was taking too long to download as I had thought my computer had frozen. When I cut my computer back on, I noticed everything was gone. I had to deal with all that temporary profile mess, but I eventually figured out how to do a system restore. Now here's where things get bad. I am an aspiring young music artist and producer so files are very important to me. Anyways, the restore completed successfully but I did not get any of my files back, my downloads, pictures, documents, or programs!!!!! Is there anyway I can get all of that back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI naturally thought that if I used File History that I would be able to get my files back from the external drive if I had to reinstall Windows8. After a HDD crash it appears that isn't the case.
13gb of Excel Spreadsheets is riding on this solution.
I recently got myself into a quandary. I installed 4 additional drives with the intent of creating a RAID volume that's supported by the BIOS. In order to do that I must change the BIOS setting for the controller which includes all volumes including my boot drive (which I don't intend to RAID.) The problem I have is that when I switch the controller from UEFI to RAID, Windows Recovery will not use the System Image that I made. It says the volume was created under a different setting (Bios vs. EFI).
What are my options? Is there a different backup setting that will preserve all my installed software? I'm not concerned about data which I can copy to an external volume but it would take several days to get all my software reinstalled. I'd like to avoid that. I assume I will have to reinstall Windows 8.1 Pro and then use a backup program to restore everything else. If that's the case, then I need to know which backup program will work. If there's a better way, I'd love to know. I see my options as either, get another backup program, get a separate controller card for either the boot drive or the RAID volume, or reinstall everything.
I was attempting to enable my system protection in order to allow me to restore individual files to a previous state. Unfortunately when I go to do so the option is not available at all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are these files with filenames beginning and ending with curly braces taking up too much space in my SSD main OS drive. They are located in the 'C:Windows' directory. Does they are safe to delete? I suspect something bad (virus perhaps), but I don't know. There are other files like these, as shown in the screenshot below, but they don't take up as much space as these recent ones. Are they needed by the system? Are they from a bad program?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Win 8.1 Pro...there's some things I like and some I don't. I'm learning about File History and the System Image tools. Why MS went backwards in their backup tools from Win7 is a topic for another day...but I have a question about getting File History to backup certain files.
1) From what I'm reading & inferring, the only way to get File History to backup my Outlook 2007 PST file would be to add its containing folder to the Library? For example, add C:UsersUsernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook to the Library?
2) I'm guessing for other user files, preferences, data files, etc., that are usually located in the AppData Local or Roaming folders, that we have to add their containing folders to the Library?
Is this correct...or does File History back these up by default somewhere (besides System Image).
P.S. I hate this File History thing and the buried System Image tool that's also been handicapped. I want Win7's Backup & Restore back, where we could select any files we wanted for backup, schedule time of day to run backups and images, etc. I can only think MS did this to dumb down things for users.
