I just reinstalled my windows 8.1 pro because of usb driver corruption that occurred due to windows update driver update.
So i basically installed all my drivers using DRP(Driver Pack Solution) and all went well.
Then I wanted to install Asus Utilities like EZupdate,Aisuite, usb charger but none of their setup works .
Whenever I click on setup it starts some asus com services but after that nothing happens no setup screen is popping up it just quits.
And I am having problem only installing Asus Software other software are installing fine.
My pc specs are as follows:
1)Intel 4670 K
2)Asus Sabertooth Z87
3)12 GB DDR 3 ram
4)Windows 8.1 Pro X64
I already tried enabling and disabling UAC and smart-screen but that didn't affect the setup.exe.
I tried running all exe as admin that also didn't work.
There is no unblock button for the setup so it should work as normal.
I even re-downloaded the asus tools from their website still the setup wont launch.
I am using Bit-Defender Total security but i even paused protection and tried still the asussetup.exe nothing happens when i click it except starting some Asus service in task manager.
I tried some solution from asus forums running AI suite cleaner in safemode and re-try installation but still nothing happens when i click on asussetup.exe.

I have an i7 2630QM in my laptop. Sandy Bridge, like it very much, and so on..
I was kinda surprised when I saw that according to Windows 8 Task Manager it never exceeds 2,0 GHz. It's supposed to go to 2,8 with all four cores and in Windows 7 it does that very often.
Also, no Hyper-Threaded cores are ever parked, period. Windows 7 always parks four.
Is this something that occurs just on my system for some curious reason or is there something wrong in general?

my sister with "word" or "spreadsheet" stuff. We both had the Microsoft "Works" suite on our computers, so this was not an issue. She has Windows 7 and I had Windows XP pro, but now I have Windows 8.1. I soon found out that my old Microsoft "Works" spreadsheet would not "print" on my new Windows 8.1. It was suggested that I switch to the "LibreOffice" program. I did that. Took a while, but I converted all my previous "word" and "spreadsheets" to the "LibreOffice" program. I'm still learning how to use this program. But at least I can print those spreadsheets.
On a spreadsheet. If I send her a "LibreOffice" spreadsheet she will not be able to open it. There is absolutely, positively, not going to happen, that I can install "LibreOffice" on her computer and that she is going to learn how to use it. She uses her computer for basic stuff that she needs and that's it.
I need a program that I can install on "my" computer, that is "Windows 8.1 compatible and that then when I send her a "word or spreadsheet" she will be able to open and readily use.
Of course, if I could resolve the issue of why my "works" spreadsheet won't print on my Windows 8.1 that would solve everything. FYI, you get an error message that states: No default printer selected. Go to Control Panel and resolve.

So I usually copy the sysinternals suite to /windows. This in order to make it easy to use the tools in bat files and soI can quickly open them. Any ways in win 7 I didn't have a problem with this.
In win 8 I had some issues copying these files to %windir% but system32 was fine. I think this was due to my av (agnitum) preventing this. Not sure though. Any ways, now when some of the tools are updated I try to copy the whole suite again. Only it only works with overwriting the previous files if I copy over 1 file at a time. Sometimes it seems to work if I pull over 5-10 a time. But always works 1 at a time. This is one of the weirdest issues I have encountered. And yes, while doing this my av is disabled.
Any input as to why this happens?

Any way to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 on a Windows 8 tablet.
Tablet Model is ASUS VivoTab Smart ME400C-C2.
It came originally with Windows 8 32bit. I was wanting to know if there is a possibility of doing this with a Windows 8.1 Disc.
Now I know there is a way to hook up a portable optical drive with a cable called a USB OTG.
I was told by ASUS though i would not be able to boot from the optical drive like a PC or Laptop could and to be able to boot from this OS disc so i can do the install this way.
So is there is a way maybe by making a disc. image and putting it on it's MicroSD or running it directly from the disc, i am not sure how this would work wanting to do a custom install.
Question is there any differences with the Windows 8 OS on the tablet now, compared to the OS on the disc usually used for a PC or Laptop ?

Last week, I tried to dual-boot install Fedora Linux onto my Windows 8.1 PC (Asus CM1435 Desktop). I resized the Data Partition (not OS partition) by 100GB. I then restarted the PC, and Fedora seemed to work okay, however, I could not got Windows to start anymore. I then turned on Secure Boot and other Windows 8-optimized settings and tried to start up again; it did not work, Windows could not boot. I tried to search up some details on how to fix this problem, and I came across bcdboot and bootrec commands, and ran them (/fixmbr, /fixboot, /rebuildbcd), however, there was no luck, as /rebuildbcd gave me a 0 disks found error. I also followed the instructions here [URL] At this point, "Windows Bootloader" disappeared from the BIOS. Restarting resulted in a "Missing Operating System" error.
I tried using a Windows 8 installation disk, and tried Reset and Refresh, but neither worked. Reset gave me "Recovery Partition could not be found" (was still there, just got messed up in the resize or something), and Refresh gave me "Disk where windows is located is locked" (perhaps from fast reboot?) Then, I gave up all hope on the current installation. I booted into my Windows 8 recovery disk, formatted C:, and installed it from there. When it got to "Windows needs to restart to continue", restarting put me to "Missing operating system", and I could not continue the installation. I tried it again, (formatted and ran again), but no luck there. TLDR: Installing Linux broke Windows. Deleted Linux and could not reinstall Windows from repair disk. Formatted partition for Windows and used Windows 8 disk to reinstall, but errors.
Current Issue: Cannot install
Deleted all partitions except a factory recovery partition and a data partition. SYSTEM partitions and boot partitions were deleted.
Put Windows 8.1 disk in, installed into unallocated space. After installation got to the "Restart Needed" part, PC restarts and does NOT continue installation. I looked at the partitions the setup installer made, and it seems everything is correct (MSR's, EFI boot partition, etc). However, PC won't boot from Windows Bootloader. My PC is on a GPT disk, UEFI BIOS. Windows Bootloader used to be listed in the UEFI menu, but now it is not listed, and cannot be booted to it. When I disable UEFI and boot, I get "Missing Operating System". With UEFI, it just says I need to disable it to boot.

I have an Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe. It replaces a motherboard that failed. I have moved the Win 7 image over to the new board using a "restore to other hardware" feature in a backup program. It did not work properly. I am not able to get some drivers to install. For various (and sufficient) reasons I really really don't want to do a clean install. When I first booted, it would not even boot until I used Win PE to repair the boot. Various squirrely things are still wrong. Like not being able to see more than one hard drive. Occasional crashes for no obvious reason.
For an SATA controller when I run update driver or running the Intel INF setup program provided by Asus I get a message:
7 series/C216 SATA AHCI controller 1E02 Also This operation requires an interactive windows station.
I have just run the Intel update program and it says it can't identify a device an I need to contact the board manufacturer.
An alternative I am considering is to install a Win 8 update over the Win 7 telling Win 8 to retain my programs, settings, and data. But I am not sure this will get me where I want to go. My major question about that is will the Win 8 installation be clever enough to use all of the driver files from Asus that I have downloaded (and I point it to) rather than installing something like the incorrect ones currently installed?

I have a 6 yr old Dell Dimension E520 currently running Windows 8. I tried to upgrade to 8.1 but have been denied because my processor doesn't support PAE, NX or SEE2. I've read some posts that stated that this was an issue preventing them from installing version 8. It wasn't an issue for me since 8 installed. My questions are why would this effect me now and is there a work around?

I have a brand new Asus laptop that had a problem with the battery. I sent it in to Asus on an RMA and when I got it back, the only partition on the laptop was the OS. Is there something I can do so I can re-install the OS some day? I thought if I can get my activation code some way, I could download Win 8 and re-install, but I am not sure if that will even work with Windows 8.

I have a laptop with a 3200 x 1800 screen and the toolbars and menus of Illustrator and Photoshop are nearly illegible due to their minuscule size. Indesign displays normally, as does Lightroom.
On the adobe forums, two entries - Adobe Community: Photoshop CC on a High DPI display on Windows 8.1 and Adobe Community: Photoshop CC / Windows 8.1 HiDPI / Retina scaling support - suggest this is due to Microsoft not supplying required APIs (whatever these are...).
3200 x 1800 is still new, but over four months have passed since the posts on the adobe forums and the problem endures. Surely a giant such as Microsoft should already have that loophole closed? It is quite astounding that such an issue should even exist in the first place.

I am using Windows Virtual PC which was a 64-Bit version I installed, I got XP Home 32-Bit installed via it perfectly and tried to install Windows 8 x64 AND THEN Windows 8.1 x64 but on both I got the BSOD (in the Virtual Machine) almost straight away saying 64-bit CPU is not supported?
I've read this may be due to not having VTx but I do as my CPU is a 3470 (Ivy Bridge) and SIW says its enabled as does BIOS
I am testing some Windows ISO's to check to make sure they are OEM and ask for product key during install but also to diagnose a WSUS Offline issue in windows 8 that reverses all updates right at the end saying there was a problem, the software creator needs a log and I ain't got time at work.

Under Windows as host (W7) no problem !!.

I am trying to make a DVD with UEFI/GPT support for Windows 8
I have an ISO from MSDN - Windows 8.1 Pro VL (x64) - DVD (Danish)
File Name:da_windows_8_1_pro_vl_x64_dvd_2971937.iso
[URL] .....
The SHA1 for the ISO matches the one on MSDN
SHA1: 3142B1DCBDFFC7E46ACE0E89BDB858D2C9B1F233
I used Hashtab v.5.1.23 to verify [URL] .....
If I burn the ISO and boot from the DVD created, it boot just fine in UEFI Bios.
But if I change the ei.cfg file to one of these:

[EditionID]

(Blank) to have the choice to install Core or Pro

It will not boot in UEFI Bios, it work just fine in Legacy Bios. I can use the program Rufus [URL] .... to create a bootable USB drive, this works perfect. But I would really like to know how to make this work on a DVD. Or/and what I am missing.
This is the original ei.cfg file from the ISO.
