Oct 3, 2013Using ASUS AI Suite in WINDOWS 8 and know if it works.Repeated searches on internet and ASUS forums are not looking good for this software to work .ASUS tells me the newest one should work,but did not seem positive,then after seeing some comments on internet about crashes of PC. Jul 10, 2014I just reinstalled my windows 8.1 pro because of usb driver corruption that occurred due to windows update driver update.
So i basically installed all my drivers using DRP(Driver Pack Solution) and all went well.
Then I wanted to install Asus Utilities like EZupdate,Aisuite,usb charger but none of their setup works .
Whenever I click on setup it starts some asus com services but after that nothing happens no setup screen is popping up it just quits.
And I am having problem only installing Asus Software other software are installing fine.
My pc specs are as follows:
1)Intel 4670 K
2)Asus Sabertooth Z87
3)12 GB DDR 3 ram
4)Windows 8.1 Pro X64
I already tried enabling and disabling UAC and smart-screen but that didn't affect the setup.exe.
I tried running all exe as admin that also didn't work.
There is no unblock button for the setup so it should work as normal.
I even re-downloaded the asus tools from their website still the setup wont launch.
I am using Bit-Defender Total security but i even paused protection and tried still the asussetup.exe nothing happens when i click it except starting some Asus service in task manager.
I tried some solution from asus forums running AI suite cleaner in safemode and re-try installation but still nothing happens when i click on asussetup.exe.
Apps / Software :: Copying Sysinternals Suite To System32
Oct 29, 2013So I usually copy the sysinternals suite to /windows. This in order to make it easy to use the tools in bat files and soI can quickly open them. Any ways in win 7 I didn't have a problem with this.
In win 8 I had some issues copying these files to %windir% but system32 was fine. I think this was due to my av (agnitum) preventing this. Not sure though. Any ways, now when some of the tools are updated I try to copy the whole suite again. Only it only works with overwriting the previous files if I copy over 1 file at a time. Sometimes it seems to work if I pull over 5-10 a time. But always works 1 at a time. This is one of the weirdest issues I have encountered. And yes, while doing this my av is disabled.
Any input as to why this happens?

Oct 24, 2013installing apps on my laptop running window 8.1. I select install the app I want. The store downloads it and "installs" it. The files are hidden in the program files however in the start menu the app icon is just a box. When i click on it, it says that there is a problem and it cannot be opened. the store would repair the install. I have tried that but no luck. No apps seems to be working that I download and i cant delete them because there is no such option in the start menu. And then manually deleting the files is also impossible because windows blocks it even when i have admin rights.

Jul 17, 2014Not sure why, have never experienced this in previous versions of Windows,but I can't seem to get pdf files to open in Firefox.
Using the latest version of firefox, video drivers, and adobe reader.
Got adobe reader installed fine, and adobe flash player installed fine,but still pdf files won't open in firefox.
when I click on a pdf file to open it in the browser, it doesn't do anything,its like the link to the pdf won't open at all. Happens every time.
Only way I can open pdf's on the web is to right click on the pdf link,click on 'save link as' download it to the computer, and open it in adobe reader.
I can do that, problem is this is my wifes computer, and she's not as computer literate as I am, so she has to ask ME to do all that for her whenever she comes across a PDF document on the web, which happens alot with her taking online classes right now. don't want her to have to call me every time she needs to open a pdf document ya know? especially when its something small like a groupon or something she only needs to view once to print the thing...

Dec 22, 2013On my old Win 7 and Win Vista and Win XP laptops I've had no problems opening and viewing my old MPEG-2 video files. My new laptop running Win 8.1 will not allow me to view them.
Windows Media Player will only recognize them as audio files - not video - though the sound will play. Real Player is the same - the application will open and begin playing a file but only as audio file. I've tried the built in Toshiba media player and it shows errors and won't open the files at all.
Again - these are conforming MPEG-2 NTSC 760X480 video file (old analog home movies) captured using an ATI video card dongle to connect to my video source and an old version of capture application ULead Video Studio. These files conform in every way to MPEG-2 standard/format and will run on all of our PC EXCEPT the new one running Win 8.
I bought and loaded a video editing application from Corel and it will open and play these files perfectly so why won't Win Media Player and Real Player recognize them when running behind Windows 8?

Apr 15, 2014Out of the blue today when I opened PSE 11 and then tried to use it to open a file on my Desktop, it went to sleep. Task Manager showed it "not-responding". Rebooting the computer did not work. After a couple of tries, I waited for 2-3 minutes and it then displayed files on the desktop. I switched the location it was searching, which was Desktop to my photo folder, and everything started working normally. Closed and restarted, and it was fine opening files from my Pictures folder. But, when I switched it to Desktop it went to sleep again for 2-3 minutes. At one point it got a message, which I forget exactly, but basically saying it could not find the file it was searching for??
It seems unique to the Desktop location. The Desktop is part of the operating system (Windows 8.1), and on a SSD. The Pictures folder is on my HDDs. I don't recall making any changes to the setup.
Summary of the symptoms:
1. Only is slow with File, Open, or File, Open As, when the location is the Desktop
2. Operating system (8.1) is on a SSD. Normal file folder is on HDD.
3. Same actions when location is Pictures on HDD is normal.
4. Process Explorer does not seem to detect any activity going on during the "sleeping" mode

Nov 7, 2012I just bought a new windows 8 installed latpop. I used internet explorer to download firefox and proceeded to install flash, office trial java flash has been crashing all week in firefox.
I then installed skip metro suite settings to disable charm and uninstalled flash BUT now when i try to download software.
I've tried flash, spotify and fb skype function thus far nothing happens when i click on it, even in the containing folder the wait icon swirls for a bit then no action. I've tried restarting and ending processes through task bar clicking on the run as administrator button which takes me to the usual warning do you want this program to make changes.
But when i press ok, still nothing happens! I've also tried using internet explorer as the initial place of download.

Jun 19, 2014my sister with "word" or "spreadsheet" stuff. We both had the Microsoft "Works" suite on our computers, so this was not an issue. She has Windows 7 and I had Windows XP pro, but now I have Windows 8.1. I soon found out that my old Microsoft "Works" spreadsheet would not "print" on my new Windows 8.1. It was suggested that I switch to the "LibreOffice" program. I did that. Took a while, but I converted all my previous "word" and "spreadsheets" to the "LibreOffice" program. I'm still learning how to use this program. But at least I can print those spreadsheets.
On a spreadsheet. If I send her a "LibreOffice" spreadsheet she will not be able to open it. There is absolutely, positively, not going to happen, that I can install "LibreOffice" on her computer and that she is going to learn how to use it. She uses her computer for basic stuff that she needs and that's it.
I need a program that I can install on "my" computer, that is "Windows 8.1 compatible and that then when I send her a "word or spreadsheet" she will be able to open and readily use.
Of course, if I could resolve the issue of why my "works" spreadsheet won't print on my Windows 8.1 that would solve everything. FYI, you get an error message that states: No default printer selected. Go to Control Panel and resolve.
Windows Media Player Won't Open - Playing MP3 Files
Feb 6, 2013Windows Media Player won't open. I noticed this after I used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall AVG 2012 so I could install AVG 2013. There was a huge amount of things to be uninstalled and I selected and deleted all of them. Since then I've had a similar message open with Windows Live Mail also, but I went to Programs and Features and did the right click for 'uninstall' on Windows Live Essentials 2012 and then chose "Repair". This seems to have worked.
The message that appears when I try to play an mp3 file by right clicking on it and then choosing "Play with Windows Media Player" (because the program won't open at all) has Windows Installer as a heading and says: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Shredder64.msi' in the box below."
I don't know what a program or feature titled "Shredder" has to do with Windows Media Player, but that is what it says. When I click on the 'Cancel' button inside this message box another box opens with the same heading (Windows Installer) and the message says: "The path 'C:UsersAdministratorAppDataLocalDownloaded Installations{45DE3BB5-15C7-489B-8F80-82349413953E}Shredder64.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'Shreder64.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product Shredder." Then there is just the OK button.
I have tried to open WMP from the taskbar, the Program Files (x86) file, the windows explorer (File Explorer) to the "Start Menu"/"Programs" file, and also from the Start Screen and the Start Screen All Apps page. It just won't open.
Is there a way to reinstall it without a windows refresh? Or is there a fix?
Windows 8.1 - Adobe Reader Files Won't Open In Firefox

8 GB DDR3 RAM (had 4 but I put another 4 G stick in there due to windows 8 being soo slow)
Anyway, our problem right now is with PDF documents, she can download & view PDF's if she downloads them, but she's not a computer guru like me and just wants to view them in firefox when she clicks on them inside the browser window, but for some reason PDF's won't load in firefox, and we're not sure why.
Does that functionality require Java or flash or something? otherwise we're not sure what could be causing it. sure we're missing something though. Why PDF's aren't loading in firefox in Windows 8.1?
Windows 8 - Folders Won't Open / No Unknown Files Running

Some folders won't open, is this a virus or a trojan on my PC? My PC seems to be running fine, starts-up and turns off fast.
This isn't just it though some folders have Desktop.ini in them. There's no unknown files running in the processor or anything either.

Jun 7, 2013I can't seem to open any off my apps from the start menu. When I open an app, the app closes back but is available at the sidewindow(?). It doesn't load or anything. When I click it, the app sort of minimizes to the sidewindow(?).
So I've been lurking around and one of the problems that I thought was happening to me is that I do not have the temporary internet files. C -> Users -> My Name -> AppData -> Local. I read that it should have a windows folder in the local folder and a temporary internet files in the windows folder.
I changed my local user to the microsoft account and then changed back to the local user using another username so that might affect these change in my pc.

I used Notepad++, and with it you can save the file as a wide variety of types, among them java file. I chose this, but since they are associated with eclipse, it makes opening them with Notepad++ tedious. I want to ask if there is a way to set the default program for some java files Notepad++ and leave Eclipse for the rest? This would be a useful feature for few other types too.

It makes it very difficult to type ie in e mail, the only way to get focus is to left click the mouse within the app and the cursor comes back for a few letters then the cursor disapears again. So any time I make an app active it becomes inactive quickly. To make it active again I have to click on it with my mouse.
