Hardware Drivers :: How To Find Express Cache Drivers For Windows 8.1
Jan 15, 2014
How can I find express cache drivers for Windows 8.1 ? I've been searching for long time but cannot find any. I assume it's already installed with Windows or what? I just want to use my SSD(24GB) as an express cache. I have an Ideapad y410p.
Sometimes my SSD disappears like unplugged from the system or shutdown itself, why this is happening?

I just wanted to know if it was possible to use Intel Mobile 4 Series Express Chipset drivers with Windows 8. I've read that you could use the drivers for Windows 7 in Windows 8, but I haven't really proven that to be true.
I keep getting this error:
but I really don't get why I'm getting that message - it's giving me this message like I'm trying to run the software on a computer from the '90s. It really doesn't make sense to me since just about all other software can run on newer operating systems.
All I want to know is if it's possible to install these drivers on my computer, and if not, if there's a patch or a substitute.

I just installed W 8.1 recently. It's having incompatibility issues with my Patriot ram stick. I contacted Patriot and they want my motherboard model. Problem is I can't find my motherboard model on 8.1
I looked for system information but they removed it. I'm going to all these sites that lead me to downloading these third party apps I don't even trust to find it.
Why exactly they removed system information? It was a very useful and easy tool to go to find information on your CPU. It seems like I'm one of the few who have that issue since I see only a few complaining about it though.
Anyway, I need to find motherboard model without disassembling my PC.

I have a new internal HDD. When I first put Windows 8 OS on it I needed to disconnect my External HDD because I was getting the error (don't quote this):
"Can't find operating system. Disconnect any drive that doesn't not have an operating system."
It booted fine when I disconnect the External HDD.
It stopped doing this until today. I need to disconnect it when IU reboot.
I believe I ejected the External by mistake and tha6t5 screwed everything up again.
I entered the BIOS and I don't see the External HDD there. Only my internal and my cd/dvd drive. It currently looks for an OSA on the cd/dvd first.

I have purchased from a local electronics store, an after market HDD drive housing to enable me to use a surplus 450GB IDE hdd from a now defunct computer.
Once assembled I plugged it in ( it comes with its own power pack , and uses a USB cable to connect to the computer)
Windows 8 knows it is there and installed a driver called - USB to IDE bridge. there the problem starts
I am unable to see the drive in explorer or anything . either as a mass storage device or an external drive.
Do I have to register the drive or anything , and if so how - shouldnt Windows 8 do this automatically ?? I have another HDD ( more modern one ) and windows see's that straight away.

I'm not sure how far reaching this is but I just noticed that when I select a folder and type a file name in the search bar on the right of the address bar, files are found on my backup drive, which is attached by USB to the PC, this drive is attached because it contains other partitions for file storage.
The folder in this case was on the desktop and it shows that it is on C: Drive, but files were found on the H: Drive which is where I run my backup to.
When I un-attach the H drive the files found do not respond to left or right click.

My model is HP Pavilion Slimline s3760in Desktop PC
HP Pavilion Slimline s3760in Desktop PC Product Specifications -- In product specifications you can notice that my OS was shipped with Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Media Center (32-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1
In NVidia website it has mentioned that all the oem model should download from manufacture like hp, dell website only.
IF you check driver update for this model for windows vista 32bit you will notice original driver like keyboard, nvidia, etc.
Driver - Original (5)
Original Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1200 TV Tuner Driver 2008-11-18 , Version1.31.26252.0, 5.87M
Original driver for the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1200 TV tuner solutions.
Original HP Multimedia Keyboard Driver 2008-11-14 , Version1.0.7.1, 6.09M
Original driver for the HP multimedia keyboard solutions.
[Code] ......
So my queries is that i have recently installed windows 8.1 and i wanted these original files to be installed but dont know which one to pick from vista drivers or windows 7 drivers? but windows 7 drivers are latest when compare with vista. Or should I download nvidia drivers from nvidia website? and also same goes with realtek audio driver from realtek website?

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7, and I cannot get a wireless connection. I have a Linksys Wireless G Card v4.1, and I've attempted to use multiple different drivers, but none of them work. At one point I was able to get a "Network Controller" to show up, but after rebooting my computer, it went away (and I was unable to get it again). Is it possible to get an internet connection with my card and Windows 8.1? Or will I have to stick with Windows 7?

I was wondering if there is a way to force Windows 8.1 to use older drivers, for example, force a generic Bluetooth adapter driver to use version 6.2.9200 instead of 6.3.9600.
I am just trying to troubleshoot a problem and was curious, and wanted to try if its possible.

I own a XPS L702X laptop purchased in 2011. Laptop has driver support from Dell for Win 7 and Win 8. But windows 8 drivers aren't working with windows 8.1 and i don't think Dell is in the mood to provide drivers for a laptop which is already 2+ years old.
So i had to collect drivers by myself. I have already got most of the native drivers from Intel/nVidia/Realtek websites. But not able to find the Quickset software. Currently using the one which was released for windows 8, and it gives error when i open the windows mobility center. And after installing, it doesn't remove the "Unknown Device" icon from device manager like it used to do in windows 8 .
Also need "ST Micro Screen Detection Sensor" driver. If i install the old windows 8 driver, it says incompatible with this version of windows.

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem I am having with a non-typical HID device. The device in question is called a NEO2, manufactured by a company called Renaissance Learning. This device is used in schools for students to test 'smartapplets' on. These smartapplets teach things like keyboarding and math, etc. The device looks like a keyboard with 2x8 inch LCD screen on it. Typically you are able to connect this device to a computer and it will transfer the information to an application that can manage it all.
The problem that I am having with it is that when I connect this device to a computer, it should install 2 drivers back to back. This is how it had previously worked on all Windows operating systems in the past. You connect it, it installs a standard HID driver for allowing the device to be used as a secondary keyboard, then another driver to allow the device to connect to the NEO Manager software. Windows 8 will install the HID driver automatically, but not the second driver.
When I view the device in Device Manager, I can see it there with an asterisk by it, as if it knows that drivers were not installed properly. Right click the device, choose to update drivers and choose the search option. It will find the drivers locally (I know this since fiddler did not report any communication http wise) and then install them and everything is fine. So, this is my question. What has changed in Windows 8 that now does not install both drivers automatically as other versions have in the past? The drivers are signed properly, and I see no events in any section of the event viewer that would denote an issue. I also tested turning off the strict driver enforcement or whatever that was called, and it did the same thing. This happens on both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 8. It works on all other versions from Windows XP to Windows 7.

I'm using Windows 8. When I'm trying to update my Qualcomm Atheros AR9287 driver, it just tells me that the newest driver is already installed, which is not true. I downloaded and unpacked the driver, but even if I navigate there, Windows 8 will not recognize that driver and just tell me that the newest is installed, effectivly blocking any driver update.
I tried to delete the old drivers manually from system32, but he still won't recognize the new one. If I deinstall the drivers via manager, the whole adapter disappears; when checking for changed hardware, he will reappear and instantly reinstall the old driver, even if it has been deleted from system32 (no idea where he gets the old file from).

I'm having a problem with system file corruption on two computers with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Rev 2 motherboards and some resulting issues after upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1. ASUS still doesn't have 8.1 chipset drivers available for their AMD motherboards but they have 8.1 for their Intel boards, which is interesting. I have been told by a third level MS Support person that the corruption is caused by a hardware issue and he refuses to troubleshoot the computer until the corruption is resolved. He said that in the 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade, Microsoft made some significant changes so he thinks that 8.1 chipset drivers should be installed.
Every few days, when I run sfc /scannow, it finds corruption. If sfc can't fix it, then I run the dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command and eventually it gets fixed. In the meantime, some strange things happen with Window's operation but I don't get BSODs and other major things but the computer can hang for a while.
I have contacted ASUS but I get conflicting information from them. I see that here: ASUS Windows 8.1 - Ready Motherboard : Get you Onboard, that many AMD boards have passed the WHQL test (only very recently--the Intel boards had already passed some time ago) but when you click on any link to an AMD board, there are no 8.1 drivers available, even where it says they have some. I have been told by ASUS's Customer Care Manager that AMD provides the chipset drivers. I have spoken to AMD Support and they say that they do NOT provide motherboard drivers--the motherboard manufacturer does. I then told the ASUS Customer Care Manager this--then he said:
"ASUS would have to work with AMD in the development of such drivers, and since our testing of Windows 8.1 with the current 8 drivers has worked without further issues there is no word of further development of a Windows 8.1 chipset driver set for that motherboard. It isn't deemed necessary as of now. This is also due to the fact that AMD is working with ASUS to develop other products with their FM2+ socket and APU processors such as the board in the link [URL] .....
As far as the appropriate chipset driver for the Crosshair V Formula-Z, it is already available but it the same driver that is used for 8, and the only driver that needs to be updated further after that should be the USB 3.0 driver. The webpage you described is just dated and isn't meant to be used for continued reference. Our product page just hasn't been updated to reflect the information I am providing."
I wonder how much in depth testing ASUS did with the AMD boards which supposedly work fine running Windows 8.1 on a motherboard using 8.0 chipset drivers?

I downloaded the drivers for windows 7 x64bit for the SD card reader in my system. I have installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64.
I had the same issue with Windows 8 and now that I have settled on 8.1 need to fix my card reader. Funny thing is that the drivers from Microsoft load (2006) and all devices look fine in Device Manager.
Even after installing the link from Acer and even searching around and getting other ones from Lenovo, HP still no go.

Had drive problems with PC so got new SSD drives and a Hybrid drive. All new drives so did tortuous route install win7 - upgrade to win 8.0 all worked then started acting up. My tech support worked on it for 2 days and gave up said I should backup and do a clean install from start. So I did.
Not yet put any backup files on so only operating system and devices (printer, wireless keyboard/mouse, wireless headset and 3webcams ( One Pluscom and two PCline ) checked device manager and found cameras with yellow exclamation mark and checked properties and saw this webcam.JPG . Download, install and do a reboot and see what happens.

I have two wifi adapters i have been trying to get to work consistently with no luck for several days now. One had been working fine for a few weeks, then it stopped, i tried switching, and that one worked for half a day, then it stopped. Once it stops working the connection is 'limited' but works fine on other machines, or it says it is connected in settings but Chrome says it isn't online. So i wanted to try to install a different driver, having read that this can often be the solution.
But in both cases, there is no old driver to roll back to, and when i try to tell Windows to load a driver i've downloaded or have on a disc, it says, no, the one it already has is 'up to date', and it won't do it. Is there some way to dig around in the system to get rid of the driver it claims is better so i can try another one?

I am unsure whether I should enable "Automatically get device drivers, apps, and info for new devices" when installing Windows 8 Pro?
What exactly will it do?
If I enable this, will Windows then automatically install software packages/drivers from the manufacturer, like for example the Logitech Setpoint software for their keyboards and mouse and similar software for other devices? I don't want or need that. Or will it behave like in Windows 7?
On my other PC with Windows 7 I see in Windows Update that there are a couple of optional updates, including that Logitech stuff, as well as some driver for a BenQ monitor I have and also nvidia video drivers. This kind of stuff I don't want or need installed automatically as important updates in Windows Update - so I am worried if enabling this automatic driver stuff in Windows 8 is different than Windows 7? Meaning that it will get installed secretly/automatically?
However, it's fine that Windows finds them so I can manually go and check if I want to install any of it.
The key is that the updates are optional in Windows 7, but I have seen a few people complain about Windows 8 installing stuff like video drivers and mouse drivers automatically.
