Debugging :: Getting Occasionally BSOD While Running Minecraft Server

Feb 7, 2014

I was planning on playing Minecraft with friends and had to stop after a while because of my computer getting this so-called BSOD. The strange thing is, that it doesn't happen every time or at the exact same time:

It ranges from 45 minutes upwards, but It's not like a guaranteed BSOD.

The minecraft server software is really simple, but I don't really think that it has an impact on the BSOD occurring (Should've been the same files getting shown to me after the crashed than (At least that's what I would expect)).

I used the tool you were referring to in the post and attached the .rar to this post.

Gaming :: Minecraft Server - Java Not Recognized As Internal Or External Command

Jun 23, 2013

I've been trying to make a server since forever. Not just the plain Minecraft Vanilla server, but a bucket server. I've downloaded craftbucket, the latest version, and tried to run it. It gives me the error saying " 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I do have java installed so I don't know why this is happening.

Debugging :: BSOD After Running PRO TOOLS Software

Jul 8, 2014

I have had BSOD problems on and off since I got this machine, but recently, it only happens after running my Pro Tools software for a little while, usually about 10-15 minutes in (Pro Tools 11.2, but it also happened similarly with PT 9.0.6). The program slows, stutters and freezes, eventually going to a BSOD with the error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL .

My "workaround" has been to use a different software solution (StudioOne), which seems to work flawlessly, but I would really like to use the more professional and expensive software that I own and paid really good money for.

I have tried several "fixes" such as running "sfc /scannow" several times along with the DISM command line repairs, always with errors unresolved. Attached is my SF file, zipped and renamed to my forum username.

Debugging :: BSOD Running Aion Patcher (NA)

May 27, 2014

Sometimes when I open the Aion patcher, after a while, and with everything working normaly it just BSOD.

In the BSOD can be read kernel_data_inpage_error.

BlueScreenView reports ntoskrnl.exe in all the crashes and in this last one it also reports cdrom.sys.

Also I don't have this problem after I get in game or with any other games.

Debugging :: BSOD When Running OpenVPN On Windows 8.1

Mar 13, 2014

I've been having a big problem in that my computer kept crashing with a BSOD, usually related to ndis.sys. I tried removing all the drivers and reinstalling with the latest. Same problem. My PC manufacturer sent me a replacement network card. Same problem. After reading various things online, I suspected that openvpn might be a problem so I uninstalled it. No more crashes since.

Obviously I want to be able to use my VPN. I tried setting it up through the network and sharing center but I get error messages when I try to connect.

I can't run the tool as I've uninstalled OpenVPN, although I guess I can reinstall .

I tried to attach a couple of minidump files, but it wouldn't let me.

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a fairly high speced laptop. I have a killer networks network card and I'm connecting over wifi.

I also have avast internet security installed, but as I say, as soon as I uninstalled openvpn and the other Private Internet Access files the problem stopped.

Debugging :: BSOD After Running Chkdsk For 120 Hours On Broken HDD

Jul 19, 2014

I have a friend with his broken HDD, ran chkdsk on it , after 120 hours it had gone up to 45% only and I got a bluescreen while playing dota 2 so chkdsk was interupted, when the pc jumped back I could access the HDD but it was super slow and after a restart I couldnt access it anymore, I unplugged the HDD thought it was gone forever and today I got another BSOD while I was on youtube. I got really scared cause I have had tons of trouble with this PC but after I switched out a damaged motherboard it all dissapeared and the PC was finally working 100%.

I deleted the old dumpfiles cause they were from when my motherboard was broken, if you find traces of the old dumpfiles, ignore them cause that problem is solved, its dumpfiles from july (its 2 of them) that are making me scared if I made a big mistake letting chkdsk run for that long on a bad hdd ...

Debugging :: BSOD Running Microsoft Programs Such As Wordpad / Paint

Apr 29, 2014

I don't know what is causing this problem. Every time I start wordpad it gives me a BSOD "Bad_Pool_Header" and pc resets. If I am in movie maker or MS Paint everything works fine until I insert a text box and it crashes... so I guess it must be something related with fonts??.. However, I have no problems with Microsoft Office programs.

I attached some mini dump files I collected after the resets.

Debugging :: System Crash / BSoD - Dual Boot Running Windows 7 And 8

May 6, 2014

I am the same person who posted a thread about needing drivers for Windows 7 after dual booting it with my preinstalled copy of Windows 8. So, I was on Windows 7 today, and my screen randomly blinked on and off for 5 seconds, and then came up with a message saying my system display driver crashed but had recovered. Then, about a minute later, it crashed again and came up with a BSOD saying that the display driver had crashed but failed to recover. I do not have the error code from it, as I only saw this screen once, and forgot to copy down the codde because I got freaked out But anyways, I have copied the system report to this post from the Seven Forums System Tool. I am currently running in safe mode on my Windows 7.

Network / Sharing :: W2K3 Server Can Access Windows 8 Computer Can't See W2K Server

Jan 15, 2013

Why does Windows Networking always seem to hose things up ( Linux works EVERY time)

I have two computers on the SAME test private LAN one Whitehorse (W2003 server) and the other Blackdog (Windows 8 Enterprise) both enabled "Shareable and Visible".

View from W2003 -- can see and access disks C,D, and F on Windows 8 Computer

View from Windows 8 - Networking shows the computer Whitehorse (W2003 server) but can't access any disks etc (or even its printer). PING even fails but Windows 8 obviously knows it's on the Network because its found it. The stupid Windows diagnostics when you click Diagnose doesn't work at all --in fact I've NEVER found the network diagnostic panel of the slightest bit of support ever.

I've switched off firewalls etc while testing so there's no security rubbish to take care of while I'm trying to get this to work. LAN is purely LOCAL -- no computer is on "the other side" of a router.

Both machines can access independently the Internet through a Local router and connections are via LAN cable so nothing should be simpler. !! But can I get this to work !!.

I had a similar problem with W7 but it seemed to "Disappear" without me actually doing anything -- the proverbial "Ghost in the Machine" I expect.

(Windows Networking Grrrhhhhhh! -- I'm not particularly technical with this stuff but any time I've used Networking with Linux it works STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX and there's no problem sharing from or to windows. !!)

Note -- Other W7 / Linux / XP computers connected to this SAME LAN (currently switched off) have NO problem accessing the server -- It's just this Windows 8 Machine (Windows 8 x-64 Enterprise version).

Windows 8 X64 Pro Occasionally Freezing

Aug 5, 2013

Recently I've installed a genuine Windows 8 x64 Pro(upgraded from Windows 7 x64 Ult).

It worked fine for around 5-6 weeks, and after that I've installed several features like framenetwork, directx, and a few video games. Then the windows started freezing after around 2-3 minutes, and when I'm restarting the comp it asks for a boot CD(even that that option is disabled in the bios), and I have to totally shut it down in order to turn the comp on again.

I didn't install a motherboard driver(I've got a gigabyte ep43-ds3l and on their website they've got only windows 7 drivers) but the comp works like it's got all the drivers, the only drivers I've installed is the video card driver AMD Radeon HD4870 1GB - the latest version for windows 8. I've tried to use your guide for posting but the windows freezes too fast and it doesn't finish the process (I'm posting from my laptop), maybe I can try it from safe mode or something, I just don't know how to use safe mode on Windows 8.

Windows 8 Occasionally Loads Up Blank

May 15, 2013

Upgraded to Windows 8 from XP a couple of months ago.

Everything's fine except on occasion it loads up blank, like it's just been newly installed. It takes longer to boot when this happens (a couple of minutes as opposed to ~10-15 seconds). It still signs into my profile as normal, but then I'm displayed with this Metro Desktop screen:

If I right click> all apps then everything appears to still be there. A restart solves this and it loads normally.

Inserting CD Or DVD Occasionally Causes Lock Up / Freeze

Dec 9, 2013

Inserting a CD or DVD (especially a blank rewritable) occasionally causes PC lock up/freeze. No cursor, no nothing; reboot required. No error message. No event error. ASUS P8P67le, I7-2600K

Thrice, in the past two days, a freeze occurred simply while idling. This is a new development. No optical drives in use. To my knowledge, no new software, hardware or drivers have been installed, but for routine Windows Updates.

I have flashed the (old 2011) BIOS with the latest. ASUS does state that later versions incorporated stability improvements for Windows 8. Time will tell.

Windows 8 Updates - BSoD Every Time On Running UTorrent

Jul 19, 2013

I've been having some problems after installing some updates. For example, after installing these updates, every time I run uTorrent, I get a Blue Screen of Death, almost instantly. The problem is not with the software because I always used the same and nothing ever happened like that. The Blue Screens of Death were more frequent when the software was run. I researched a lot and saw a lot of people reported problems with the update KB2821895 and have not yet emerged any official response or fix patch from Microsoft. I was instructed to run in the command prompt, the following commands:

sfc / scannow
dism / online / clean-up / restoreheath

The problem is that when I run the sfc / scannow, after checking 100%, he is just standing there, frozen in 100% with no response.

And running *** / restorehealth, there was much delay and it got stuck at 20% and after a long time went to 40% where it has remained for hours, so it haven't finished the way it should.

Maintenance :: Windows 8.1 With Fast Startup Enabled Hangs Occasionally?

Oct 24, 2013

I'm not sure what's exactly the problem but sometimes Windows 8.1 hangs at the Windows logo at boot with Fast Startup enabled on a mSATA SSD with my Lenovo Y570 laptop.

My laptop does not support Secure Boot/GPT or UEFI, so I'm really unsure if that's the problem.

Once I disable Fast Startup the boot process never hangs ever but it makes my bootup time slightly slower.

Debugging :: Computer Rebooting When Running A Game

Jun 9, 2014

I have currently been experiencing a new problem with my PC. This problem occurs when I am running any game on my computer. When running a game for a few minutes, my tower begins to make a loud noise, which I assume is caused by the fans spinning faster and faster inside, then my display monitor goes black but then notifies me with a "no signal" message. While this is happening, my tower is still on as the power button still has back lighting, in fact the back lighting never disappears unless I physically have to turn my PC off.

I would say I have been experiencing this problem fairly recently - about a week ago this problem arose. The reboot only ever occurs when I am running a game and not when I am browsing the internet, watching videos, running other programs like Word or Skype etc...

The games I am running also had the video settings on high and I have noticed that when I put the video settings on low it buys me a little more time before my system reboots.

Maintenance :: Running Out Of Memory When Running Overnight

Jun 22, 2014

First let me say, I rarely leave my 8.1 system running all night as I generally switch off before bed.

On the FEW occasions I leave the system running all night I always get the "Your computer is low on memory" warning.

For instance, yesterday my software RAID mirror was "Re-synchronizing" and I wanted it to complete syncing so I left it running. NOTHING was running except Disk Manager. I closed down everything else. No browser, no Skype, no directory utility, no paint, no uTorrent....

Sure enough when I woke up this morning there it was....

A few days ago I wanted a couple of torrents to keep downloading so I kept the desktop running. Again NOTHING else was running and in the morning there it was....

I have 16Gb of memory and my pagefile.sys is 42Gb. My OS disc is a 250Gb SSD. I have set my system to hibernate after 5 hours idle. I have set the screen/display to sleep after 30 minutes.

The system isn't asleep when I wake as moving the mouse immediately brings the display back on line. Checking Task Manager shows NO memory hogs.

What I suspect is after 5 hours the hibernation process denies access to memory requests or something?

The strange thing is millions of people on 8.1 must leave their systems running all night but I have seen no mention of this behaviour.
