I used the apps.diagcab solution but no way to go, it runs if i run Fiddler2. How to set a default status without loosing anything?

Meanwhile most window tiles in the start menu have Internet access . For example I have the application "MegaTube" and that application has access to the Internet. As well as the weather app, which updates when connected to the Internet.

Similarly all the apps show "offline" status. Dec 23, 2013I've just bought an HP N54L which has a Broadcom NetXtreme NIC. Bit of a bargain and since I've never had the slightest issue with my HP N40L (running Server 2008 R2) I decided to get a new one
I did a bit of research on the hardware and so made sure I flashed the BIOS to the latest rev. I then installed Windows 8 Pro 64 on it - the installer went smoothly with no hiccups. It received an IP via DHCP as well as the default gateway address. I can see my other devices on the same subnet
My neighbour and I share one internet connection, him on (eg) 192.168.0.0/24 and me on (eg) 192.168.1.0/24.
My Router is 192.168.1.1 and his Router is 192.168.0.1. My Router handles all traffic from my subnet to his. His Router handles his own kit plus the link to the internet. Neither Router is set to restrict access by hardware (eg: by MAC)
While my N54L could see all the devices on my subnet, and I could browse it's shares from one of my other computers, it cannot access the internet. I do not receive a ping back from my neighbours router
I have temporarily disabled the Windows Firewall and any other protection during testing. Windows 8 is a clean build with no 3rd party software on it as yet...
I have tried using netsh to reset the tcp stack and ipv4
I've checked all routes on the N54L and they match all my other devices
I've double checked both my Router and my neighbours Router (I have administrative access to it)
I tried the default driver on the Windows DVD, also the latest for Windows 8 on Broadcoms website as well as (just to test) the latest for Server 2012. Tried setting the network as both Public and Private (via a re-install since it wouldn't let me swap type). Tried both DHCP and static IP. I only have the 1 Default Gateway, which is my own Router
Whatever I do, this PC seems stuck in it's own subnet
I've checked the network cable too which works fine
My other kit (which all works fine) is a mix of: Server 2008 R2, Server 2008, Server 2003, Win7 64, Win7 32, XP SP3, Linux of various flavours, and Android
So my suspicion is that this is a Windows 8 "feature" ? Any particular settings within the NIC itself?
I may stick my Server 2k8 R2 build on it just to test my theory, and prove that the PC with it's NIC works fine and that the problem is limited to Windows 8. I bought Windows 8 because I want Hyper-V and want to tinker with Storage Spaces.

May 11, 2014Basically, whats happening is, it says connected to the internet, however, it won't load any site. We've attempted this on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome. The weird thing is, we have found that she can connect to sites by using the site's IP, but not with the actual address. Also, Skype is working perfectly fine with the connection. Its just, web addresses that cause a problem.
Running on Windows 8 and her computer model is a Satellite c55-A and the processor is intel(r) core(TM) i3-3120m cpu @ 2.50ghz 2.50 ghz. The manufacturer is Toshiba.
Also, this was a problem encountered on any router connected to. However, if we can not get this solved, will resort to attempting to restore to factory settings.

Feb 6, 2013So My apps start but then they just spin for hours and nothing else happens. I have pretty much narrowed it down to norton.
Heres how:
I backed up my pc. I then refreshed it, then installed all windows updates etc, and the apps were working. I installed norton and boom the apps stopped after system restart.
I really need norton so I was wondering how can I fix the settings in norton to work with the apps??
After uninstalling norton the problem keeps happening. I would have to restore to before I had. Norton.

I rarely use Win 8 apps, and run in desktop mode almost exclusively. Was having issues and was suggested I advance the OS to 8.1. That requires Store app. Store app gives a very generic "unable to connect" message with no options. I've done some research here and tried various things to no avail:
-refresh the store app
-a few cmd things
-restart
-turned off McAfee AND windows firewall
Some suggest doing some type of system restore which claims to wipe out all desktop system apps.That seems quite extreme for a program/connectivity issue.

Long story short, my Apps are not connecting to the internet following some disastrous anti-virus faffing about. I've now removed Norton and AVG completely and have avast (but reading elsewhere here, I believe that I should probably get rid of that as well?).
Now, I've got to the point, through your very good forum, of understanding that I need to do this Run CMD 'Command Prompt' as administrator. In the command line type: netsh winsock reset Press enter then restart your PC, the problem solved. So I tried that, but it hasn't resolved the problem.

Nov 4, 2012I upgraded my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 8 and none of the apps work and they all show offline. When I open the desktop I can use the internet with no problem. In the network and sharing options it says that I am not connected to a network when clearly I am so I'm guessing it is possibly a network/IPv6 issue?

Jul 23, 2013I had this problem where the metro apps could access the internet when i used a usb modem. The problem just disappeared but for the metro apps to use the internet on the usb modem i had to connect it via the modem's dashboard. If i connect via the Network side bar(the blue one with the list of networks), metro apps won't work.
I used to get this error before ''datamarket.accesscontrol.windows.net could not be resolved'
Another problem came up. When i use a cdma modem(ZTE Modem) and i connect it via its dashboard, metro apps won't access the internet.
Another thing is that not all metro apps behave this way. The mail app,internet explorer,messaging and people app always work.
From the screenshot you can see that the Internet explorer works but bing search doesn't.

Oct 22, 2013I upgraded my Acer Aspire One netbook from Win 8 Pro to Win 8.1 via the Store. The upgrade went smoothly and it appears that my files and installed apps are all intact. However, IE 11 can't access the internet, can't display any web page. FireFox and Chrome work fine. Metro apps (including the Store) report that they can't find a connection to the internet and tell me to make sure my computer is connected.
I can access shares on my network although Windows Explorer reports that I am not connected to a network.
I've tried wired as well as wireless connection to my router with no difference. I tried turning off/on the Firewall.
I tried running netsh winsock reset from a command prompt and restarting which had no effect.

Sep 11, 2012My weather, news, finance, travel and maps tiles can never connect to internet even though I can, at the same time, browse and download. I tried to figure it out in many ways but failed eventually . When I click any of those tiles, it opens and a message pops up and says the app cannot connect to the internet. The network indicator on top-right side of the tile also shows 'Offline'. The tiles show sample data only. My computer gets automatically connected to internet after log in. So the tiles should have got connected.
I have windows 8 pro .
