View 1 Repliesi have windows 7 laptop that i have had for only a few months for all the time I have used it when I press ALT+Tab keys there came up with a viewer that I could scroll through open windows by selecting a from miniature images of that window... recently this changed to what I understand to the Windows XP viewer that only displays icons to scroll through when ALT+Tab is pressed... I dont think I downloaded anything harmful to do this but I also don't remember changing any setting to have this happen, how do I chage it back?

More often, it will turn the displays off, but won't ever put the computer to sleep. Why wouldn't the computer go to sleep?Wouldn't any activity turn the displays back on? And so if they don't come back on, why wouldn't it go to sleep?why wouldn't the displays turn off, and then it goes to sleep?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Deltaco USB bluetooth adapter that I want to use to connect a wiimote to my computer to play games with. But when I plug the adapter in, the computer acts as if the up arrow-key is being constantly pressed down, making it scroll upwards or flip through options constantly. Nothing short of unplugging the USB-adapter makes it stop. This is terribly annoying. When I was using a evaluation version of Blue Soleil this problem went away when I fiddled with the wiimote.
Now I'm using Toshibas Bluetooth Stack for Windows though, and it wont go away at all. The wiimote works, but I can't do anything on the computer at all due to this.
I'm having trouble with my laptop's keyboard, specifically with letter x.I press it once and nothing happens.. but if I immediatly press it again, it writes the letter. This works almost like when you open a folder on the pc. You need to click two times quickly to open it.I tried running the Safe mode and writing and it worked perfectly! At first I thought it was just dirt or a piece of something that was trapped under the x key but I removed it and nothing..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work in a school environment and have come across an intermittent, non-user specific and non-machine specific issue. Sometimes when people log on and start typing it will open up a piece of software, and always the same one and the same 'A' key on the keyboard. It is not a huge problem, you can minimise the program and it wont keep opening up, or you can log off and back on again to cure the problem. I am just curious if anyone has seen this before, or maybe has an idea how we can prevent this. I have search many forums for similar problems people have experienced.

I checked in device manager and both are selected to wake the computer and not allow it to power down the devices. They are both PS/2. The only way to wake the computer is by hitting the power button on the case.

Any letter typed will perform the action it would if the ctrl key is pressed. This can only be remedied by a complete reboot. I do not have sticky keys enabled.

What prints out is the print options box over the screen I wanted to print. If I drag the print options box out of the way to the right side of the screen. The print option box doesn't print, I get the screen print I requested.

What can cause this weird problem?

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy issue is as follows:
->Win 7 Pro
->Boots up shows "press ctrl+alt+del" screen
->Once this is pressed, the prompt for the password does not show (mouse moves not frozen)
->Unable to recover from rescue cd
After toiling with this issue for some time I found that when the computer is shut down properly, the next login does not show the password prompt. If the computer is shut down via a 5 second power-button press, the password prompt appears the next time the computer is turned on after the "start widows normally" dos screen. I had an older image of the os on a harddrive (replaced HD with solid state) that I used to "restore" from. The issue happened again some 6 days later. I can not keep restoring/backing up all the time as it is very time consuming (there is a lot of changing data on this computer and having to back up like this all the time is not a realistic solution).
When I press Sleep button, I expect Windows to get into sleep mode at once. But why Windows spins up CD/DVD drive? This is very annoying, since I am putting my laptop to sleep mode several times a day.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 and a dell inspiron 1545.
When using both my mouse and my touch pad the cursor does a left click without a button being pressed approximately every five seconds.
I have downloaded some drivers from dell but this did not solve the problem. The computer originally ran window's vista.
So, I have been searching mindlessly around to figure out how to swap my displays (IE. display 2 as display 1 and vise-versa) and I finally figured out in Catalyst control center, you can swap these displays, I currently have it configured in the control center like this: url...Is there any way to fix this? I restarted, and in Windows, it's still configured like that, but in the center, it's the way I want it. And I know it's not configured right because when I record my desktop with FRAPS, it records like it's configured the Windows way.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been browsing the web to find an answer for my question, but with no luck.
I use Windows 7 on a PC which is setup to be both an office and an entertainment computer. Therefore it's connected to two seperate screens with one graphic card. The screens are one 19" desktop screen (1280x1024) and one 40" Samsung LCD TV (1920x1080). When I'm browsing the web, working with documents etc. I use the desktop screen and when I watch movies, pictures etc. I use the TV.
Now I'm trying to switch between them in an easy way. I've tried several third party applications but eventually found that the best way to switch between these in fact is to use Windows 7 built-in software. I've setup Windows to recognize the two seperate screens and I switch between them by using the "Multiple Displays" option in the settings. I then switch by using "show desktop only on 1/2".
Do anyone know if this switch can be done by using a hotkey combination through Windows or through some other software? It's not the end of the world right clicking the desktop and doing it, but it'd be nice to save a few clicks every time.
For the past year, I've been using Windows Vista Ultimate and a dual display setup. Sometime during the summer, my dual display setup started not working. When waking up the computer from hibernation, one display would no longer be available (and would remain asleep?). I could move my cursor onto the sleeping display's area, but I couldn't see anything.
I replaced my graphics card but this didn't solve the problem.
I reformatted last night and am now using Windows 7 Home Premium. I haven't gotten a chance to play with dual displays since they're at my university dorm room. This morning, I fixed an issue where my USB devices would stay in hibernation despite waking my computer up. I disabled an option called "USB selective suspend setting".
Is there an equivalent for dual displays? What other hibernation options could be screwing with my dual displays? (I'll test when I get back to school.
i have some problems getting windows 7 to function with 2 displays

My friend has a computer thats displaying an error message when he presses the power button to turn on his laptop. He has had it sense 2009 and it has worked perfectly fine up till today. After pressing the power button he immediately sees the screen shown in the link below. After he saw that screen he turned his computer off and attempted to turn it back on, the screen did not come on but all the lights displayed on the machine came on as normal and the fan was fully functioning. I dont know the specs of his laptop but he has an dell inspiron 1525. I have included a link that shows the specs for this pc model as well as an image taken of the error message.

Both screens work fine on their own its just when i try to get them to work together i get problems,,
The screen resolution manager has both screens listed and my cursor will disappear off the right side of the screen as it would do normally on dual setup, but for some reason the other monitor isn't displaying.
Nevermind, ATi had crossfire enabled in the CCC
I have this computer, with a GeForce 6200 TurboCache gfx card in it. With two Samsung SyncMaster 931BW attached. One VGA, one DVI.
Earlier, this pc was running windows XP, and both displays were set to their native resolution of 1400 x 900. I deployed Windows 7 on it, and now I can't set both monitors. One is at 1400 x 900, the other defaults to 1024 x 768, AND they get swaped around on the multi display. The left gets put on the right, etc. If I try and select 1400 x 900, it flickers but no resolution change.
Yes I'm on the latest Nvidia driver for this brand of card. No I haven't tried another card yet because I can't find a spare. It was working in XP, and trying to get to the bottom of this is frustrating.
If you need more information, ask. I'm going to be here for 4 more hours.
Also, in case it's relevant - In the Nvidia control panel, under 'change resolutions' It correctly detects both sync masters. It's detecting the VGA one as 'VGA - PC display', but the DVI one as "composite - standard definition television"
