I'm putting this in Windows 7 because it does this with all browsers. Initially, it did it with Google Chrome, but after I uninstalled it, it started up Firefox when I pressed the control button. I have no idea how it started, I restarted my computer and it still persisted.

I have downloaded some drivers from dell but this did not solve the problem. The computer originally ran window's vista.
My computer has been running slow for months, but it is now getting to the point where it is almost unbearable. For example, just clicking on a folder to open it can take up to 15 seconds to respond. It also lags a ton during internet browsing.

Not just in word but on all places I type using the computer, even this message!I use this key constantly as I am a secretary and do lots of documents and letters and it is driving me nuts not being able to use this function.When I reboot I sometimes get the function back for a short while then it disappears again.I have just had a brand new computer put in but it happened sometimes on my old PC too so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Normally I have only two monitors connected, one on HDMI and one on DVI. Yesterday I brought home a third monitor just to test around a bit, to see if I could get a third monitor working. I had the cables so I tried connecting it to either DisplayPort, HDMI or DVI on either of the cards, alternating. So far I have failed. This is not really a big surprise since I got info from Sapphire telling me it would most likely not work, since the cards do not support multiple monitors beyond two.
The most surprising part was Windows. It tried to detect the third monitor as connected via VGA and extend desktop to it. I went along and played with the settings a bit to no avail. The third monitor (an older Eizo) does not have a VGA port.
So I disconnected it, rebooted just in case, and left the matter for another day. To my surprise, Windows still claims there is a VGA monitor, diconnected, but it is there. My display settings: And the "ghost" display setting: How do I remove this last entry of a monitor that is no longer connected??
The first time I start a browser after each reboot, I get a Windows Explorer crash, but it's not a full blown crash. It just says "Windows Explorer has stopped working", but it doesn't seem like it closes and restarts.
I first noticed it with Firefox, but then I switched back to Google Chrome. Same things. I haven't tried IE because, well, I don't use it. After that, I never see it again until a reboot.
I'm on Windows 7 x64.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just reformatted my computer and installed Windows 7 64bit. I can access the internet just fine on Google Chrome. I can download at the fastest speed my connection will allow. Some programs, 2 in particular, won't allow connections but others will. Examples are: Ventrilo, and PlayOnline will access the internet, but GSC and Final Fantasy XI will not allow connections. I've gone through the router and opened ports for them, disabled UAC and windows firewall. I do not have any other firewall or virus scanner installed yet as they interfered on previous systems setting up my commonly used programs. I've also tried running the programs as administrator to no avail.

The page color changed, the layout has changed and it has all sorts of things I do not wish to have on the page, even the font size seems to have changed. View 5 Replies View RelatedOk so I have a fairly new computer that had Vista on it. I got the free upgrade and upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. I've been using 7 for about 3 weeks now with no problems at all. Then out of nowhere approx 3-4 days ago, the internet doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Once in a while web pages wouldnt load and now most of the time my browser will fail to load any pages. I called my ISP tech support and everything is fine on their end, and I can confirm that I am indeed connected because I can play multiplayer games, use utorrent and occasionally msn messenger.I've tried both Firefox 3.5.5 (default) and IE 8. It appears that there is some conflict somewhere that is denying me internet access. I need this resolved ASAP since most of my school notes are online and it's midterm/finals time.
While talking to tech support I was advised that restoring windows to a backup may solve the problem. So I did that with a backup that was 3 days old and it worked for maybe an hour then I had the same problem.I should also note that I am NOT using wireless. I have a wired cable connection.When the browser does decide to work, I find that it is very slow. Even my download speeds on utorrent have decreased drastically.
My Desktop is connected to my router vie WiFi and it says I have connection to the Internet. However, i cannot access any website, be it by typing in the name or the IP address.At the same time, I can ping all websites. I can find them via tracert, which also nicely resolves the IP adresses of any sites I type in. I also tried two different WiFi dongles (Cisco and D-Link) both have identical problems.I reset the winsocket and i tried to log in as another user - to no avail.To make things even stranger, I cannot even access the router (192.168.1.1), but i CAN access the NAS connected to the router (192.168.1.100).The laptop which is connected to the router via WiFi has no troubles accessing either the router or the outside world so I am fairly certain that the problem lies with my computer and not with the access point.My computer gets his IP via DHCP (fixed on 105) and is within the same subnetmask as the router and has the routers IP adress as standard gateway (all that via dhcp).

After the end of trial period AVG asked me if I want to upgrade to paid version or remain using free version with restricted options. I chose to keep the free version.After som days Windows error center recommend me with a Flag to install a Antivirus product and offer a Web page with alternative product. I then wanted to try any other Antivirus product.I decided to try Bullgard Security, downloaded it and then started installation. During installation Bullgard ask me if it first should remove previous security products and listed Windows Defender and AVG as installed or if I want them to remain in the system.
I chose to leave them and get through with the installation and Bullgard then want to restart Windows. During login and start up procedures Bullgard installation program started automatically. Its asked again if I want to first uninstall the other security product. This time I answered Yes and was then asked if I want to uninstall the other product one by one. It then started AVG uninstall program. If You use default options AVG keeps some minimal security detection and remains on the computer. In the tray You see the AVG icon, but because it was in the normally hided section I didn't see that AVG was loaded after the Restart of Windows.Suddenly I couldn't reach any Web pages whit any browser, also I couldn't run installation program that download a part from the net before it could start installation so Bullgard couldn't bee installed.
Window says that I have Internet connection and You can use for instance Windows update and several programs update function. I first used AVG installation file to repair AVG. I then used normal Control Panel - Uninstall for AVG and AVG uninstall program started. I go to advanced options and chose to totally uninstall AVG and delete all user data. I also on another computer downloaded a AVG-tool that detects remaining AVG installation and files and then remove them. It couldn't find any thing.After next restart the http protocol error still remains, I first think it was faulty DNS settings for the network adapter and manually set them as another functional Laptven if I put in IP-address in the browser address field it says it can't reach that page and installation program that want to download parts from the Internet and for instance Spotify says that there is no Internet connection.
why do I see internet explorer cache when I don't use it as a browser? I use firefox, but every time I do a c.c., a pretty big cache of temp internet files comes up for internet explorer. Is this the result of windows updates? or is something nefarious going on?

Also, when I see the blue screen, I read that the driver "anodlwfx.sys" (System security filter, or something like that) is causing the problem for every bsod, I removed the file from windows folder, and computer worked perfectly, but I coudn't go to the internet, the used system restore, to restore that missing file.

These same web pages have no problems when displayed through Google Chrome. I have tried to re-install the browser to no avail. I'm trying to connect to the internet through my existing home wireless network which a Macbook, Macbook Air, Toshiba Windows 7 laptop and iMac in the house can all connect to and access no problems.I've got an ADSL modem set up in bridge mode and an Airport Extreme as router and wireless access point.I can connect to the router fine. I am assigned an IP address fine. When I open a browser window the internet is very slow or times out.When I ping the router it usually times out or I get a very high ping.I've tried so many things to fix it I'm getting desperate! including:

-Changed wireless channels

When I try to open up a browser the browser screen just says that the webpage I am trying to access is either being edited or has been moved to a new domain. The error code is 137 and I am using chrome. Only internet explorer x64 works! I don't want to use internet explorer. This error could be a virus posing as my proxy then routing my internet traffic back to itself, therefore making it seem like I have internet wvwn though I cant get online. I need to get online on google chrome. I already tried normal internet explorer, safari, firefox, and opera and on the taskbar it says I have wifi but clearly no.
