Multiple Displays Don't Share Resolutions?

Nov 2, 2011

I have this computer, with a GeForce 6200 TurboCache gfx card in it. With two Samsung SyncMaster 931BW attached. One VGA, one DVI.

Earlier, this pc was running windows XP, and both displays were set to their native resolution of 1400 x 900. I deployed Windows 7 on it, and now I can't set both monitors. One is at 1400 x 900, the other defaults to 1024 x 768, AND they get swaped around on the multi display. The left gets put on the right, etc. If I try and select 1400 x 900, it flickers but no resolution change.

Yes I'm on the latest Nvidia driver for this brand of card. No I haven't tried another card yet because I can't find a spare. It was working in XP, and trying to get to the bottom of this is frustrating.

If you need more information, ask. I'm going to be here for 4 more hours.

Also, in case it's relevant - In the Nvidia control panel, under 'change resolutions' It correctly detects both sync masters. It's detecting the VGA one as 'VGA - PC display', but the DVI one as "composite - standard definition television"

Multiple Resolutions On Multiple Displays

Oct 31, 2009

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get two monitors, a small 1024x768 LCD, and a 46" 1920x1080 TV, to display the same wallpaper at different resolutions. My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.

Hotkey To Multiple Displays

Nov 16, 2009

I've been browsing the web to find an answer for my question, but with no luck.

I use Windows 7 on a PC which is setup to be both an office and an entertainment computer. Therefore it's connected to two seperate screens with one graphic card. The screens are one 19" desktop screen (1280x1024) and one 40" Samsung LCD TV (1920x1080). When I'm browsing the web, working with documents etc. I use the desktop screen and when I watch movies, pictures etc. I use the TV.

Now I'm trying to switch between them in an easy way. I've tried several third party applications but eventually found that the best way to switch between these in fact is to use Windows 7 built-in software. I've setup Windows to recognize the two seperate screens and I switch between them by using the "Multiple Displays" option in the settings. I then switch by using "show desktop only on 1/2".

Do anyone know if this switch can be done by using a hotkey combination through Windows or through some other software? It's not the end of the world right clicking the desktop and doing it, but it'd be nice to save a few clicks every time.

Extending The Taskbar For Multiple Displays?

Jan 16, 2012

I recently purchased a second monitor and now have two working at the same time. It lets me have a lot more windows open at any given time, but since the windows task bar is only displayed on the main monitor it gets very clustered when I open all the windows I need. This makes it hard swapping between windows, especially when I'm working on the secondary monitor and have to move the mouse over to the primary to pull up a window that's behind all the others.

I'm wondering if there's a way to extend the task bar across both monitors? I've looked in the properties of both the task bar and the nvidia control panel, but found nothing.

Displays Won't Turn Off After 3 Minutes But It Will Then Put The Computer To Sleep After 10 Minutes While The Displays Are Still On?

Aug 20, 2012

I currently have it set to turn off my displays at 3 minutes of inactivity, and put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes.Sometimes, the displays won't turn off after 3 minutes, but it will then put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes while the displays are still on. More often, it will turn the displays off, but won't ever put the computer to sleep. Why wouldn't the computer go to sleep?Wouldn't any activity turn the displays back on? And so if they don't come back on, why wouldn't it go to sleep?why wouldn't the displays turn off, and then it goes to sleep?

Two External Monitors With Different Resolutions?

Jun 19, 2012

I have a small problem : I'm using my laptop at work and home with different external monitors and I end up having to manually set the display resolution constantly. I use a docking station so that I don't even have to open the laptop and I just send it to sleep and wake it up when I arrive to one place or the other. The problem is that my monitor at home is accepts way better resolution than the one at work, so when I wake it up at work, Windows tells me that it can't accept the resolution. I was wondering if there is a way to save settings for different monitors so that when I get to work I don't have to actually open the laptop and reset the resolution.

Widescreen Resolutions Lost

Sep 3, 2009

I've been with windows 7. It's fast, reliable, stable (even RC have been for me) and everything have been working A+ up until now.

This morning when I spent some time on computer before leaving to work, everything worked as they've worked so far. Now when I got back from work some 8-9 hours later, something was terribly wrong. My 22" LCD isn't recognized anymore and thus native resolution 1680*1050 isn't an option anymore. I really don't know what happened. I'm bit confused how it, what ever it is, happened.

My gfx is Geforce 8800GTS.

I've tried to update my Drivers, rebooting, fiddle with NVIDIA Control panel, nothing.

Trying To Get Multi-Monitor Resolutions Set Up

Oct 22, 2009

I have been having a problem with trying to get Multi-Monitor resolutions set up. On XP my monitor setup is capable of 3360 x 1050; with 7 it automatically separates them and sets each resolution to 1680 x 1050, I would like to enable Span-extended desktop and have had no luck, CCC on XP allows this and on 7 the option simply isn't there. I was just wondering if I was overlooking something.

Projectors With Very High Resolutions

Oct 25, 2012

I'd like to have an 8' screen with the pixel density of a normal computer monitor. Some information intensive projects I work on would benefit greatly from this amount of screen space. Are there any projectors capable of this? The only projectors I know of can project a 1920x1200 image, which is not what I want (I want a 10,000 x 7,000 screen, or as close as I can get)

Set Screen Projector Resolutions To Different Sizes

Jul 3, 2009

I am using RC1 on an HP Mini 2140 PC with 1024x576 resolution. I just can't work out how to set the projector and screen resolutions to different values. Projector resolution is 1024x768. If I use the "duplicate screen" setting, it insists on using the 1024x576 for the projector as well. The only thing I have been able to do is to have only monitor 2 turned on, and have the correct projector resolution but nothing on the PC screen.

That defeats the effort. I want to use the PowerPoint feature that allows presenters to see speakers notes on the PC, but they are not on the projector. Second best would be to have 1024x768 on the PC screen as well, even though I would have to scroll down to see it.

Ideas?

5M Long VGA Cable Giving Low Resolutions

Apr 25, 2012

The cable is only giving me a resolution of 1680x1050 and it is ghosting they are also only giving off a generic monitor rather then recognizing the model of the monitor. The standard VGA cables you receive when you buy work fine. Doing research I've read that the longer the cable the lower the quality? The graphic cards are lower end AMD cards but are new. All drivers on graphic cards and monitors have been updated to the latest yet it hasn't had any effect.

Lower Resolutions Don't Fit Screen Properly

Aug 9, 2012

When i am playing a fullscreen game that i cant run at 1920x1080p (my native screen resolution) I turn it to 1280x720p but it makes the picture too wide and really big annoying black borders at the top and bottom. And by "too wide' i mean most of the gui is forced off the screen. I want to know how i can make it fill the screen. I assume that this is even possible because my console makes the picture fit the screen( on the same moniter) at lower resolutions such as 1280x720p.

Dual Monitors With Odd Resolutions/Sizes?

Jan 23, 2012

So I switched TVs recently and decided to use my old LCD tv as a second monitor for my PC, as I thought it would be useful.

The TV is larger than the monitor, but has a smaller resolution. When I try to align the monitors in the resolution settings I can't seem to find anything that will let me say, "This screen has a smaller resolution, but is much larger. Adjust the mouse position according to real life, not resolution."

I don't really want to kill the resolution on the smaller monitor.

Windows 7 Blurry Text At Lower Resolutions

I noticed that my current resolution is set automatically by Windows 7 to the max on a 22'' screen which is 1680*1050 at that high resolution everything is super sharp and crisp.. But if i try to go a little lower, even by one step, the text and the objects seem a little bit less sharp. For example if I go to the 1280*1024 resolution, like I am used to while running windows XP, the sharpness fades a little bit..

I just update my Video card driver

here are my spec:

Mirror / Duplicate Monitors At Differing Resolutions

Nov 1, 2009

Is there any way to set up a mirrored monitor setup with monitors of differing resolutions, but simultaneously maintain the native resolution on both monitors?

I have an onboard G31 video on my system. This particular motherboard has both a DVI and VGA output. I have DVI connected to an LCD (1980 x 1020) and VGA connected to a plasma 720p TV. When I mirror the monitors, the monitor and TV both display 1368 x 720.

I know that I could "extend" instead of "mirror," and thus fix the problem. But because this computer is ultimately for my grandmother's setup, using "extend" will not be an option, as it will greatly confuse her and make matter exponentially worse.

Is it possible to mirror and maintain native resolutions with some sort of software? Could I achieve this by purchasing two separate graphics cards?

Dual Monitors, Different Resolutions. Matching The Scale?

Jul 10, 2011

I have 22" 1080p monitor which I use for gaming, but I also have a cheapo 19" 1440x900 monitor that I use for IRC, Vent etc.My problem is that everything looks larger on the smaller monitor due lower resolution. For example, dragging a window from 1080p monitor to the 1440x900 makes makes it increase in size by ~1/3. Also, you can only move your mouse to the smaller screen if it's within the top 900 pixels of the 1080p monitor. This make sense, but doesn't make it any less annoying.I thought of finding a way to force a higher resolution to the smaller monitor, though from searching around it seems very difficult/impossible. And If achieved it could also be dangerous to the monitor and the graphics card? reduce the scale of the second monitor so that the things are the same size and make the mouse pass between screens without being restricted to the upper 900p pixels on the 1080p monitor?

The important information:

OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Graphics card: GTX 570

Most of the resolutions are gone even after unselecting only display modes for this monitor, and when i select the 1080 veritcal one it squashes it to the monitor size, because it automatically changes the display to 'display image to full size panel' instead of centered timings and leaves the option greyed out. Dell LCD Monitor Has Horizontal Lines On All Resolutions But 1280x1024

Sep 30, 2012

I have a Dell Monitor model # 1908fwpt and we have used it as an external for a few laptops now, and on the last two hook-ups it has constant, non-flickering white horizontal lines across the screen. The only resolution that doesn't is 1280x1024 for some reason. I have changed the cables, used both VGA and DVI, and run the self-diagnostics and updated all drivers. I have chased this issue up and down and not been able to come up with a way to fix it. The monitor is not old, it hasn't been used very much, and I really don't want to replace it...

Since its done it on a few different computers I tend to think its not a driver issue, or a cable issue... And the one resolution it works on is all stretched out and flat.

Multiple Users On Multiple Windows 7-64bit Systems?

Feb 13, 2013

We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
