Graphics Resolutions On Asus Radeon HD3850 X2 - Dual Link Display
Apr 17, 2012
I know this is going to sound like a daft question but my father has a Radeon HD 3850 x2 from ASUS and it's a great card, but we're coming stuck about the actual display resolution of the card; it being a dual link I'm some what confused as to how you would go about calculating the actual maximum display resolution of the Dual Link ports to 2 SEPERATE monitors not to one! My father is planning on running two 22" at a display resolution of 1920x1080 at 60hz and the maximum display resolution of the Dual link ports is 2560x1600 at 85hz.. I'm not sure whether the card will run both at 1920x1080@60hz
What is the difference between dual link DVI and single link DVI cables? Would I see a noticeable difference if I switch to dual link cables? Would I benefit any at all from switching from single link to dual link?
So I switched TVs recently and decided to use my old LCD tv as a second monitor for my PC, as I thought it would be useful.
The TV is larger than the monitor, but has a smaller resolution. When I try to align the monitors in the resolution settings I can't seem to find anything that will let me say, "This screen has a smaller resolution, but is much larger. Adjust the mouse position according to real life, not resolution."
I don't really want to kill the resolution on the smaller monitor.
I have 22" 1080p monitor which I use for gaming, but I also have a cheapo 19" 1440x900 monitor that I use for IRC, Vent etc.My problem is that everything looks larger on the smaller monitor due lower resolution. For example, dragging a window from 1080p monitor to the 1440x900 makes makes it increase in size by ~1/3. Also, you can only move your mouse to the smaller screen if it's within the top 900 pixels of the 1080p monitor. This make sense, but doesn't make it any less annoying.I thought of finding a way to force a higher resolution to the smaller monitor, though from searching around it seems very difficult/impossible. And If achieved it could also be dangerous to the monitor and the graphics card? reduce the scale of the second monitor so that the things are the same size and make the mouse pass between screens without being restricted to the upper 900p pixels on the 1080p monitor?
I have an ASUS WL-330gE which can serve as a WAP, gateway, ethernet adapter and repeater. I use it as a repeater to gain greater coverage in my home. While my iPhone can link on to the repeater to access internet and home network (with some help resetting the phone's wifi), the two laptops that I have can link on to the repeater for home network, but not for internet. I can access files from other computers on the network, but not to websites. Once the repeater is off, I can access the web through my wireless router (if close enough). If I move closer to the wireless router with the repeater on, the repeater will not hand off the computer to the router which may have a stronger signal. I would have to disconnect and reconnect again before the router takes over.
I have an Acer Aspire 7750G-6662. It has switchable graphics with Intel Graphics as well as AMD Radeon 6650M 2GB VRAM.I've already solved my first obstacle, which was how to set my laptop to only run the Radeon Graphics.
I've got a user that has a laptop with two external HP monitors. One monitor is connected via VGA connection to the laptop - the other is using an HP Display Link adapter over VGA and/or DVI. The screen that is connected to the Display Link adapter keeps stalling. He will move Internet Explorer over to that screen, try to maximize the window, and it freezes, but if he moves another window, like Windows Explorer over to that screen on top of it then Internet Explorer will start to respond.
Things I've tried: updating drivers on the integrated graphics, updating drivers on display link adapter, replacing display link adapter, changing usb ports, changing refresh rates on the monitors, and alternating between DVI and VGA connection on the Display Link adapter. Oh, and also disabling Windows Aero.
Windows 7 64 turns off the monitor 1 signal after startup. At login, it powers off monitor 1 and powers on monitor 2. Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup. Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. Nor does switching the position of display 1 in either (ex.left/right/top/bottom).GeForce 8400 GS; Dual Monitor Solution 59 pin (DMS-59) to 2 VGA adapter -tried two of these adapter cables.atest Driver: 306.23 - installed a clean reset install of the latest Nvidia driver released last week.Same Resolution: 2 of the 4 monitors I have tried have the exact same 'recommended' resolution (1280X 1024), both 60Hz, and even chose 16 bit color for both instead of 32 to reduce resources.
Linux worked: Dual display worked immediately when I tried it in Ubuntu 10. So, it's not the hardware. It works in Ubuntu 12 too but not properly -it won't transfer windows across displays. My Windows 7 64 is an upgrade from Vista 64. One person in another forum with the same problem resolved theirs by reinstalling Windows 7. But another got the same problem only after a fresh clean install of Windows 7 64 with the same GeForce 8400 GS and DMS-59 when it had previously worked in Vista. I would like to install windows 7 on my PC but i need some drivers to Mother Board (Asus P4S800 - Sound Card on board) and Graphic Card (ATI 9200 Readon Series). Where i can found this drivers?
as the title of my thread suggests i am not getting the display using single link dvi d cable. presently, i am using dvi to vga converter to get the display. i have HP 2009f monitor and it has dvi input.
when i connect my system with dvi d single link cable i am not getting any display and the monitor after scanning for the display signal, finds no signal and goes to sleep.
i was wondering, is there anything to be done in bios? i have onboard graphics on i7 2600 and am using dh67bl as my motherboard.
The performance scores on my less than 2 year old computer are :- Processor & memory, both 7.3 Graphics 4.6 gaming 6.1 and hard disk 5.9. I have tried AMD fo poor graphics score, they suggested downloading their latest Catalyst driver suite. I followed their instructions to the letter and, no change. They now suggest that I upgrade to their Firepro range. As a pensioner, I never intend to play games on my computer, but do intend to try and record the family's life in photo slide shows and video, so only need the graphics side of the graphics card to work well.As I seem to have a slow card, I thought I'd go up on the internet and buy a faster one for £50 approx. (I want an AMD/ATI card, as I have an AMD Athlon quad core processor.) Trouble is all the review sites only deal with the gaming speeds of the cards, not the side I would use for video editing. So can anyone tell me, or guide me towards a web site that can, how to choose a reasonably good compatible graphics card that is geared towards video and photo editing
I've been having this problem 2 days ago and it's a bit frustrating. I was just playing some games when it suddenly restarted automatically. My device manager doesn't seem to acknowledge my graphics card anymore for some apparent reason. I've tried plugging my monitor in my graphics card and it just seems like on a standby mode with the blank screen showing nothing.
But when I plug my monitor to my motherboard port it shows up fine and is in the device manager. I've tried cleaning my drivers with "Driver Sweeper" then reinstalling the lastest driver for my graphics card, but that didn't do anything. I was hoping if anyone knows what's wrong with my graphics card . Thank you.
I need to know if anyone knows where to get a window 7 driver for an ATI Radeon X1250 intragrated graphics card? I can not change my screen resolution to be able to load the games that we often play. This system just crashed 5 days ago and it has taken many days to get it back up and running.... Im about to restore Windows XP. I've recently upgraded to windows 7 x86, and it works great. The only problem I have is that my ati mobility radeon 3650 graphics card doesn't seem to want to work.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers several times using several different versions of the driver (win7beta, vista32, mobilitymodded, unmobilitymodded).
Whenever I try starting up with the card enabled, the screen goes blank. After reinstalling the driver, everything but the wallpaper goes away. Can anyone help?

So I've been using the windows 7 7000 build ever since it came out and its been running just fine on my setup. A couple days ago i downloaded the new RC 7100 build and when i tried to install it, i kept getting a blue screen.
I don't remember why, but i concluded that the issue was my graphics card so i took out my Radeon 4870x2 and took my dad's card, a GeForce 8500 GT. Putting the GeForce in my pc worked and it installed smoothly with both 32bit and 64bit versions of windows 7 RC
I then tried to put my Radeon back into my pc after installing with my geforce. Once it booted i got no signal to the monitor. After finding a work around my i got a blue screen after about 10 min. then it would not boot windows.
I'm still stuck at the installation with my radeon when i put the cd in. i get a blue screen right after the logo thing starts to move, this is before any setup information comes up.
In short, i cant get widows 7 RC to work with my graphics card.
