Set Screen Projector Resolutions To Different Sizes
Jul 3, 2009
I am using RC1 on an HP Mini 2140 PC with 1024x576 resolution. I just can't work out how to set the projector and screen resolutions to different values. Projector resolution is 1024x768. If I use the "duplicate screen" setting, it insists on using the 1024x576 for the projector as well. The only thing I have been able to do is to have only monitor 2 turned on, and have the correct projector resolution but nothing on the PC screen.
That defeats the effort. I want to use the PowerPoint feature that allows presenters to see speakers notes on the PC, but they are not on the projector. Second best would be to have 1024x768 on the PC screen as well, even though I would have to scroll down to see it.
So I switched TVs recently and decided to use my old LCD tv as a second monitor for my PC, as I thought it would be useful.
The TV is larger than the monitor, but has a smaller resolution. When I try to align the monitors in the resolution settings I can't seem to find anything that will let me say, "This screen has a smaller resolution, but is much larger. Adjust the mouse position according to real life, not resolution."
I don't really want to kill the resolution on the smaller monitor.
So my laptop monitor is 1366*768 and my TV is 1920*1080. When I use the laptop screen alone, the wallpaper is stretched to the size of the laptop screen, but when I hook up the TV monitor and use the "Extend These Displays" function, the wallpaper on the TV is the same size as it is on the laptop (ie. it doesn't fill out the screen), but all of the black space around the wallpaper is still usable. How can I make it so that the wallpaper fills out both the laptop and TV screens with the Extended Display mode?
i had last year Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder
may also be relate to the issue that this user had Shortcut icons re-sizing randomly My OS had gone crazy and change icon's sizes back to details sizes in random folders, last time i had that issue i thought it was solved by this method Icons sizes change back to details sizes on specific folder
But unfortunately it only was temporary, i had to format anyway so the problem was solved after the format and never appeared again till 3 days ago.
it not seem to be a virus but it really annoy, the only thing i done 3 days ago that was extraordinary for me was to edit some video on windows live movie maker + cccp codecs, i rarely use WLMM but happened to use it 3 days ago, and after that the issue reappear, i can't use system restore since i done alot of stuff on my pc and don't want to lose them, and also i don't happened to made restore point before the day the issue occurred and the rest are deleted..so SR is not a option.
I had ALL space used up on my C drvice, but when I looked at the folders they only added up to less than 15 percent of the total partition size. The folder sizes did not reflect the sizes of files within.
Running Windows 7 Ultimate. I wanted to connect my laptop to an external monitor so I pressed "Windows key + X", then clicked "connect display", then "extend."
On most computers, doing this will allow you to output the display to another monitor.
When I did it on my laptop, the screen started flickering and became garbled. It's too garbled to see, and I can't find the mouse and undo what I've done. I tried restarting but it's still like this.
is it possible to increase your resolution to a custom level because my friend has a similar laptop with same size screen but his task bar is A LOT smaller and icons are smaller and you can fit more on screen.
When i am playing a fullscreen game that i cant run at 1920x1080p (my native screen resolution) I turn it to 1280x720p but it makes the picture too wide and really big annoying black borders at the top and bottom. And by "too wide' i mean most of the gui is forced off the screen. I want to know how i can make it fill the screen. I assume that this is even possible because my console makes the picture fit the screen( on the same moniter) at lower resolutions such as 1280x720p.
On my old dell inspiron 8600, after I installed Windows 7 ultimate and update the video driver, I can adjust the highest screen resolution to 1920 x 1200.
but everytime when I restart the laptop, it will go back to 1280 x 1024
I'm looking to purchase a micro projector - the AAXA M1 micro projector to be exact. This projector uses a USB to Projector connection to allow the images to be projected through the projector. It says that it uses drivers to do this, but I called AAXA and they said that Windows 7 is currently officially supported - that it may work but they can't make any guarantees.
Has anyone ever heard of a USB to Projector type of projector before? Anyone try the AAXA M1 on Windows 7? The projector looks really cool and is cheap ($299) but I want to make sure it works first...
My new Samsung laptop with Windows 7 is asking me what proportion of my HD I want as c and d. It is 232GB in total and the d drive has to be minimum 40GB.... I have no idea what sizes to make them as have never come across partitions before. It says I can't change the sizes once I have set them (although I gather from reading other forums that this may be possible with other software).
I have a Toshiba 26C100U1 26" LCD TV/monitor with the ATI Radeon HD4300/4500 Driver. The Device Mgr shows the monitor as Generic PnP Monitor. My computer is a HP Pavilion, running Win7 64-bit. I have just hooked them up using an HDMI cable, which apparently gives much higher resolution than the VGA cable I was using previously. Screen settings are now 1920 x 1080. I seem to have gotten a lot of the resulting problems fixed, but the font sizes vary enormously from one screen to another. F'rinstance, Google screens come up with huge font sizes, while other screens, such as email, are almost too small to read! I do have the resolution set to 150%, as some screens would be illegible otherwise
This is a problem that, according to a lot of technicians including Microsoft, can't exist.

My old harddisk (a 1 TB Seagate) went belly up, and I installed the system and all of my software on a brand new 1 TB Seagate harddrive, identical to the dead one. After some time I discovered a curiosity: the harddrive has two different sizes at the same time. I've never had any problems and therefore I'm still using it, but I want to know if it is possible to correct the problem without having to start from the beginning, wiping and installing everything from scratch.
As you can the in the picture:
(1). The system (including bios) correctly identifies the harddisk as a harddrive with 931,51 GB. There are two partitions: the Win7 reserved 100 MB and the rest 931,41 GB is a single partition. Therefore everything looks correct where I've marked the picture with the number 1.
(2). Above, by my number 2 marking, the two partitions are shown. The system reserved one and the C-partitions which is... 482,88 GB. It's supposed to be 931,41 GB. I have no no clue how or when this happened, or what to do about it.
* Checked for an upgraded bios but here were none.
* Change the size of the partition, but the system wont allow that. The system says I can shrink it by 4 GB, but when I try that (trying to force a "recount" of the disk space) the system doesn't allow it.
* Defragging and make a disc check (done when the system starts), both make without errors but no change in partition size.
I have a Samsung TFT monitor with resolution 1920x1080 which is connected by HDMI cable.Assume I open a couple of windows (IntExp, WinExplorer, notepad,...).Now (e.g.late in the evening) I turn off manually physically (only) the TFT monitor to save power but let the computer continue run over night to perform some computations. When I return back in the morning and turn on the TFT monitor all previously opened Win7 windows are shrinked/resized and re-positioned into the upper left corner with an approx. size of 800x600.Presumably Win7 gets a signal which let it fall back to some VGA 800x600 mode and reduces
I have a dual monitor setup. After making some changes to the orientation/positioning of the 2 monitors, I've noticed that a lot of windows are now partially or even completely offscreen. This is especially problematic with MDI programs (programs that have sub-windows inside them, like Photoshop's dialog boxes and palette panes), as there's no way to interact with the offscreen inner windows and bring them back onscreen.
How can I reset absolutely all window positions of every single program? The registry modifications at Folder View Settings - Reset All to Default fixed Windows Explorer and a tiny handful of other programs, but not even WMP and Notepad were fixed.
Assume I have opened a couple of windows for some applications on my Win 7 desktop. Can I somehow store the current window positions and sizes (and restore them later (even after a reboot))?As far as I remember there is a tool which ofers this feature but I don't remember the name.
I'm guessing when you run a program for the first time it figures out what resolution you are using and centers and sizes it accordingly. My window sizes and positions are a mess and I was wondering if there is a way to reset the windows so the next time I open the program they look as if I opened them for the first time. I'm talking about every window that pops up on the computer. Is there a way to do such a thing? Hope that all made sense
I can't get the text to be the same size on both monitors. I use to be able to with vista ( they just where)
I am using a java based application with alot of text (only allowed on set of the text) The size difference is like this ---- on monitor this size ---- the other this size.
I have tried mucking around with the resolution it makes the situation worse.
I am wondering if the install size of win 7 on a new build varies greatly based on what version you use? For instance (without any tweaking of modification) Is the install of Professional a lot larger than home premium and enterprise a lot larger than professional? Does anyone know the baseline install sizes for the different versions. I'm mainly wondering about Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate and the space requirement variations between each.
I am about to buy a projector to use as my TV, and I would like to use the projector as a second monitor on my windows 7 PC. What I would like to be able to do is watch TV from my tunercard, or movies from DVD and Blueray drives etc, on the projector, but retain the ability to browse or whatever on the main screen.I have been told that you cannot maximize the video in the second screen(projector) and still have access to the main screen with the mouse. Is this true? If so is there a workaround?
I've set my icons to a certain size ( small) and placed in locations. After a restart they go back to medium size and line up on the left side of the screen
I would like to find out if there is a setting that will allow me to sleep my dekstop monitor but not my projector? I am running the projector as an extended display. I do not want to connect just to projector and have my desktop displayed via the projector.
i got an aaxa m2 projector and im not sure how to hook it up to my computer with windows 7. In xp i know how change the settings to i can have an extended desktop, or duplicate desktop which the projector then acts as a 2nd monitor but in windows 7 im not sure.. Is there some hotkey combination that lets me toggle through the settings?btw projector is pretty nifty! all the more reason i need to figure out how to get it to work on my laptop not just my desktop.
When my DELL laptop is already running and I connect a DELL projector, using the keys Fn+ F7 to transfer the screen on the laptop to the projector does not work. To connect the laptop after connecting the cable to the projecter I have to reboot each time.
I've came across a problem where one of our clients chooses projector only so he can have his desktop on a monitor rather than his laptop, when he does this the laptop restarts then asks for admin creds... it's a sony vio laptop, i can't see anything online about this, and his is the only mechine that does this.
