Mar 9, 2011I have windows 7 ultimate on my hp laptop. for a month now, I cannot open window media player. When I click to open wmp, it does not do anything. If I go to song and click play, it gives me server execution failed error. I cannot open internet explore 32bits. But, I can open internet explorer 64 bits.

Jan 25, 2012I can not open IE 9. No error messages are displayed to give me. I tried installing Google Chrome and, like IE 9, it will not open either. Currently, I can only get Firefox to open. I have scanned the laptop using ESET's online scanner, which found nothing. I also scanned with MSE with the same results. No infections of any form are found.

Also when I tried to open skydrive that wouldn't work either. I tried to open windows media player today and that wouldn't open either. I can use firefox that works ok and vlc player but anything to do with windows will not work. The only thing new i put on my laptop was zune for my new Samsung Omina 7 phone. Dec 16, 2011so i am running the windows 7 home permium 64bit and i am having quite the problem. none of my programs will open. it seems like the olny thing that will open is internent explorer, paint, actual folders, those kinds of things. nothing else will open such as itunes, malwarebytes to scan for anything, not even flashplayer will open to watch Internet. i've tried starting it in safe mode and still nothing will open. ive run a diagnostic test to see if it was the hardware and everthing checked out okay. i have even tried sfc /scannow command - system file checker and that came back negative. so i am out of ideas.

Aug 3, 2012Everytime I try to open Internet Explorer, a window comes up then closes as soon as it shows. Like a blink. I've tried reseting the IE settings on the control panel and it still doesn't work. I've also tried system restore and it still didn't work.
There are also some other programs that won't open, like McAfee Internet Security, it opens but it's just comes up as a plain white window.This started happening a couple of days ago, I did a windows update and the problem went away. But then after turning the laptop off and on again, it stopped working again (Can't open internet explorer) and this time, after the update I couldn't connect to the internet.
I don't know how and why this started happening as I'm not the one who uses the laptop, but maybe it's the windows update that did this or I'm thinking maybe McAfee? But I'm not really sure.

Jan 15, 2013I was fixing a laptop that was having several issues, (special keys wouldn't work properly, internet explorer would crash, PDF files wouldn't open, etc) and I found a suspicious file (C:User<user>AppDataRoamingElofenmoma.exe) that was booting on startup. Virustotal hit me with only 3 results for a trojan, which is actually quite low, but this file was clearly the problem, the details seemed to be in russian and it's Regedit entry was random letters.
So I cleaned all evidence of this file and now the keyboard works properly, but I'm still having problems with executable. Most of the times when I open a program nothing shows up, yet the process is running, after opening it 3 or 4 times one window finally opens, but there's still 3 or 4 idle processes before it with no window in sight. Some times when I force close the first process all the other windows suddenly show up. I also noticed that the processes for setups, chrome, internet explorer tend to stay idle even after closing them normally (in the program itself, manually closing the process works).Usually I would just format the PC, but this is a very complicated PC to format, the owner has tons of certificates that he needs and most of them he doesn't even remember how to reinstall them again.

Aug 26, 2012I had a new system made up for me a few months back and as I was so insistent on excellent cooling - fans - RAM etc, I didn't pay enough attention to the HDD's.Subsequently the system was installed on an SSD 60GB. For a normal user this would be adequate, but I work with a lot of digital programs that write to the app data folders and I can't safely move those onto the D:Drive where I have programs and Docs - all libraries. I have hard linked everything I could, but the more Windows updates and other updates I do, the Winsxs folder is already 7.2GB.I only have 30GB's left after a very short time and would like to be able to install another Windows 7 x64 on a 1TB drive I can free up easily. Ideally, I want to keep the SSD drive as an OS to use for general use and get all my graphics programs onto a different system for work purposes.I have not ever dual booted before and have no idea how to go about it - or I do but it could be wrong.Is it even possible to have one OS on an SSD and the other on a normal HDD? I do have an extra unused OEM version of Win 7 x64 ultimate and hope that is legal to use two identical OS's on same machine - with different keys..If I cannot dual boot I am willing to erase the SSD, probably use the space for something else, and use a normal spinner. It's that important for me to be able to work without disabling everything and have space left over.

Mar 27, 2012I just started up my Laptop (Sony Vaio 2.6GHz | 4GB RAM | ATI Radeon | Windows 7 Home Premium) and none of the programs on my laptop are responding when I click on them to start them. Not even Windows Explorer opens. Nothing responds. I can open the windows start button, but that is about it. The PC is still under warranty, so it's quite new (4months). I also take great care of it, I do not load all sorts of crap on it. Only the essentials.
It all started yesterday, when my PC became really slow and I had to restart it, where it literally took 10 minutes too shut down (NO windows updates being installed...). I restarted it, ran a check disc for bad sectors, and it found none. Only a few bad clusters. I also ran - sfc /scannow command in cmd. However, when I open some of the programs (non windows system programs such as explorer and task manager), it gives me the following error: "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".
