im using windows 7..by mistake i opened the photoshop using windows media center as default...now every software and even browsers are not opening ...when i click any program windows media center opens.
I just started up my Laptop (Sony Vaio 2.6GHz | 4GB RAM | ATI Radeon | Windows 7 Home Premium) and none of the programs on my laptop are responding when I click on them to start them. Not even Windows Explorer opens. Nothing responds. I can open the windows start button, but that is about it. The PC is still under warranty, so it's quite new (4months). I also take great care of it, I do not load all sorts of crap on it. Only the essentials.
It all started yesterday, when my PC became really slow and I had to restart it, where it literally took 10 minutes too shut down (NO windows updates being installed...). I restarted it, ran a check disc for bad sectors, and it found none. Only a few bad clusters. I also ran - sfc /scannow command in cmd. However, when I open some of the programs (non windows system programs such as explorer and task manager), it gives me the following error: "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".
so i am running the windows 7 home permium 64bit and i am having quite the problem. none of my programs will open. it seems like the olny thing that will open is internent explorer, paint, actual folders, those kinds of things. nothing else will open such as itunes, malwarebytes to scan for anything, not even flashplayer will open to watch Internet. i've tried starting it in safe mode and still nothing will open. ive run a diagnostic test to see if it was the hardware and everthing checked out okay. i have even tried sfc /scannow command - system file checker and that came back negative. so i am out of ideas.
for some reason, all of my programs are opening in internet explorer. All of my desktop icons are, "The white sheet with blue "E" on it". when i open it, it goes in internet explorer 9 thingy where u download stuff. it asks me if i wanna open/save the program in a .INK file. What should i do? P.S. it only does this for desktop programs, i can go in program files x86, and still open them.
Everytime I try to open Internet Explorer, a window comes up then closes as soon as it shows. Like a blink. I've tried reseting the IE settings on the control panel and it still doesn't work. I've also tried system restore and it still didn't work.
There are also some other programs that won't open, like McAfee Internet Security, it opens but it's just comes up as a plain white window. This started happening a couple of days ago, I did a windows update and the problem went away. But then after turning the laptop off and on again, it stopped working again (Can't open internet explorer) and this time, after the update I couldn't connect to the internet.
I don't know how and why this started happening as I'm not the one who uses the laptop, but maybe it's the windows update that did this or I'm thinking maybe McAfee? But I'm not really sure.
My explorer.exe is bugging. I cannot open anything, even Windows Task Manager and it seems to be that it's frozen in time. Windows Task Manager is not open, and I have two icons in my tray for it, both frozen. Skype won't update itself, like, my friend, I was IMing him and I read the IM, and it's still saying I have a notification, on Skype AND on explorer.exe (Task bar wise).
When I have a couple of screens open on my desktop. When I click on an icon for, lets say, iTunes, I can see the iTunes window appear behind the translucent taskbar of Win 7. Ditto for MS World. How do i get programs that are already open to open up with ONE click, instead of having to closed down all the other windows.
For a while my windows 7 64 bit would open my images in Documents. Now when I try they appear as a garbled strange format. If I go to PSP ProX2 they open fine. This is a problem for me since I often need to add images to document Newsletters I send out.
Windows' explorer will not open on top. If I've got other applications open and I click on the 'My Computer' icon in the taskbar the Explorer window opens behind the window of the opened application.Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but I thought those windows used to open 'on top'.How do I restore the old behavior?
Whenever I try to open an Explorer window to manage files on my hard drive, the folder icon will appear on the task bar, but no Explorer window will be open. If I click on the folder icon on the task bar, instead of opening an Explorer window, the folder icon will appear in the system tray area. If I click on the folder icon in the system tray area, the folder will jump back to the task bar, and still no Explorer window will open.
I have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.
Windows will not let me open any of my programs this happen updating windows. I went back and restored it and windows updated and now i have the same problem again.
I having trouble on my acer laptop Im running windows 7 home premium 32 bit edition... When I click on a program I get a pop up window saying File download / security waring do u want to run or save this file...if i click on run or save its still doesnt allow me to open any programs .
My computer won't open any programs at the minute, either from the desktop or start menu.
What happened I downloaded a file online and it installed seachqu toolbar on all my browsers which I didn't want.
I uninstalled the downloaded file and followed forum advice to get rid of searchqu (which didn't remove it but stopped it affecting my computer).
I also downloaded spyware doctor 8 as I was worried about spyware. I didn't realise I have to buy it though to remove things and there was only minimal spyware on there so I wasn't too concerned.
Tried to uninstall spyware doctor and windows wouldn't let me - it said it may already have been removed. Now I can't open any programs except mcafee which can't find a problem and Internet explorer which opens but doesn't search (it times out).
iTunes, Firefox, office products etc won't open. They make a loading sign the nothing happens.
None of my programs will open normally. Whenever i try to open a program, I get the request to choose a program to open it with.Sometimes this works ok, other times I just get a blank window in that program. Even when it works, it must be done every time.
i have the same problem my ram uses 2.8/3.8 out of 6gb on windows 7 64bit idle just when its started up it uses directly 2.8/3.8 gb of memory when i opend task manager and looked for the processes and just calculated them all i didnt came above 1 gb not even close to it how is this possible
Ok I have a server that I want to access from a windows pc, I can do it on a mac fine in finder but i can't find a way to open up the server in windows explorer!! If I type the server into windows explorer it opens it up in google chrome (my default browser) and it doesn't let me replace or add files and it looks like this:So is there any way I can open it up in windows explorer or any other way i can replace and add files?P.S.1.File Zilla only works for ftp while this is an http server.2.If I add a network location for this it says it's not a valid location when it is.
Whenever I try and access Windows Explorer nothing happens. It lights up for a bit like it has been selected but the window never actually opens. Task Manager indicates that Windows Explorer never actually opened. I need an answer to my problem soon because it is essential that I am able to manage my computers files.
I have a newly set up windows 7, 64 bit computer. I have Paint Shop ProX installed. I have most of my graphics associated through windows7 to open into pspX. I also have the preferences in pspX to open graphics. When I double click a graphic, whether gif, jpeg, psp, psd, pspimage...pspX program will open, but I get the message "There was a problem sending the command to the program".I had to open a jpeg attachment in picture viewer, in order to see it. Could Microsoft have something against letting non MS programs over ride their own programs? I have a friend who has the same windows7 and pspX program, but she does not have the problem.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.( I hate this program )I had Solitaire and Mahjong and after running check disc, they are gone. I had them on the desktop and now they are missing. I still have Hearts, Free Cell, and Spider Solitaire. How do I get these back? I would like to find them and not have to use restore.I did a search, typing in the text box, and they did not show up. Also is there a way to find the Programs files in Windows Explore? I can't find this director, can it be done?
After the latest windows updates (9-22-12), now I cannot launch any program, including outlook, IE, norton or quicken. I can bring up an explorer window, copy and move files, and use the search funtion. I am out of ideas. System restore is useless.
When I try to open a program (Internet Exlorer, Adobe Player, Skype, Google Chrome and so on) they all open with Windows Media Player. When I try to change it by right clicking on the program and select "open with..." and then select the right program it either starts opening all the programs with the selected program, or it doesn't save the program I want to "open with...". Also all the programs have changed their icon on the desktop What do I do? Do I have to reinstall every thing, or is there a magical way that I can get Google Chrome to open when I click on "Google Chrome" and not Windows Media Center?
I can not open some programs in windows 7. This is a brand new Dell Laptop. I install all of these programs 4 days ago and they worked fine. Now when I try and open these same programs. I get the motion circular object as if the program is opening, however the programe never starts. If you click on the program again, each instance will appear in the task manager, but the program will not open. I have ran the compatiblity check on these apps.
I apologize - I know I made a post about this a while back, but I have since forgot what the solution was and so I have to ask again.Anyway, I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. A problem I run into every once is when I click on a program icon in the taskbar that program never opens. This doesn't happen a lot, but enough to be annoying. I have never found any solution or even a clue to what could be causing this in all the forums and web sites I've visited.Whatever info you need me to post I will be glad to do it.
My Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit does not seem to open any 32 bit programs. When I try to open a 32 bit program, it shows up in the task manager for a few seconds (e.g. "firefox.exe x32"), then disappears after a few seconds. I can open Internet Explorer 64 bit fine, run it with no programs, but the 32 bit version doesn't work.I also can't access many of the Windows control panel settings, such as "Uninstall Programs." I can open the Control Panel folder, but when I double click on the items inside: nothing. Background: My wife decided it was a good idea to download and run a program she received in an email from a stranger and let it bypass our Avast antivirus SuperAntiSpyware, Trend Micro Housecall, and Microsoft Security Essentials; also CCleaner, and a few other similar utilities (finding and deleting many items.) I feel fairly confident (not 100%) that there are no viruses/malware left, but either they screwed something up, or my efforts to subsequently clean the computer up did.ow I booted into safe mode once or twice, and was able to run 32 bit programs! But now I can't do that anymore: Both regular and safe-mode boots result in the same problem.
I am running win 7 64 bit but have an error with PCI and Raid controllers, My motherboard is K8V-DX and it seems that ASUS never got round to providung drivers for Win 7. I can see that they did suport Win 2003. Should i risk installing these.
Well, this problem just started, but I can't get any of the programs open on the start bar. I can open open files in my documents, but no other programs will start, such as solitaire or photoshop.
I have windows 7 ultimate on my hp laptop. for a month now, I cannot open window media player. When I click to open wmp, it does not do anything. If I go to song and click play, it gives me server execution failed error. I cannot open internet explore 32bits. But, I can open internet explorer 64 bits.
When i opened my windows explorer to go to my pictures . there were no folders just 4 boxes that said " pictures.library-ms." ( documents.library-ms. etc ] . i deleted them and tried to restore them but it didnt work . when i go to upload a picture to tumblr it works but not if i want to just upload them to my computer and veiw them .when i tried to save an image to the computer it wouldnt let me it said : " can not save to this location "
