I have windows 7 ultimate on my hp laptop. for a month now, I cannot open window media player. When I click to open wmp, it does not do anything. If I go to song and click play, it gives me server execution failed error. I cannot open internet explore 32bits. But, I can open internet explorer 64 bits.

Currently, I can only get Firefox to open. I have scanned the laptop using ESET's online scanner, which found nothing. I also scanned with MSE with the same results. No infections of any form are found.

Also when I tried to open skydrive that wouldn't work either. I tried to open windows media player today and that wouldn't open either. I can use firefox that works ok and vlc player but anything to do with windows will not work. The only thing new i put on my laptop was zune for my new Samsung Omina 7 phone. so i am running the windows 7 home permium 64bit and i am having quite the problem. none of my programs will open. it seems like the olny thing that will open is internent explorer, paint, actual folders, those kinds of things. nothing else will open such as itunes, malwarebytes to scan for anything, not even flashplayer will open to watch Internet. i've tried starting it in safe mode and still nothing will open. ive run a diagnostic test to see if it was the hardware and everthing checked out okay. i have even tried sfc /scannow command - system file checker and that came back negative. so i am out of ideas.

View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try to open Internet Explorer, a window comes up then closes as soon as it shows. Like a blink. I've tried reseting the IE settings on the control panel and it still doesn't work. I've also tried system restore and it still didn't work.
There are also some other programs that won't open, like McAfee Internet Security, it opens but it's just comes up as a plain white window.This started happening a couple of days ago, I did a windows update and the problem went away. But then after turning the laptop off and on again, it stopped working again (Can't open internet explorer) and this time, after the update I couldn't connect to the internet.
I don't know how and why this started happening as I'm not the one who uses the laptop, but maybe it's the windows update that did this or I'm thinking maybe McAfee? But I'm not really sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was fixing a laptop that was having several issues, (special keys wouldn't work properly, internet explorer would crash, PDF files wouldn't open, etc) and I found a suspicious file (C:User<user>AppDataRoamingElofenmoma.exe) that was booting on startup. Virustotal hit me with only 3 results for a trojan, which is actually quite low, but this file was clearly the problem, the details seemed to be in russian and it's Regedit entry was random letters.
So I cleaned all evidence of this file and now the keyboard works properly, but I'm still having problems with executable. Most of the times when I open a program nothing shows up, yet the process is running, after opening it 3 or 4 times one window finally opens, but there's still 3 or 4 idle processes before it with no window in sight. Some times when I force close the first process all the other windows suddenly show up. I also noticed that the processes for setups, chrome, internet explorer tend to stay idle even after closing them normally (in the program itself, manually closing the process works).Usually I would just format the PC, but this is a very complicated PC to format, the owner has tons of certificates that he needs and most of them he doesn't even remember how to reinstall them again.

I have done the hotfix, I have ran check disk, I have run Norton 360, I did not have this problem before the last windows update. I even tried rolling back. I got fed up and ran the recovery disk that came with my laptop, and I still have the same problem.

My Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit does not seem to open any 32 bit programs. When I try to open a 32 bit program, it shows up in the task manager for a few seconds (e.g. "firefox.exe x32"), then disappears after a few seconds. I can open Internet Explorer 64 bit fine, run it with no programs, but the 32 bit version doesn't work.I also can't access many of the Windows control panel settings, such as "Uninstall Programs." I can open the Control Panel folder, but when I double click on the items inside: nothing.Background: My wife decided it was a good idea to download and run a program she received in an email from a stranger and let it bypass our Avast antivirus SuperAntiSpyware, Trend Micro Housecall, and Microsoft Security Essentials; also CCleaner, and a few other similar utilities (finding and deleting many items.) I feel fairly confident (not 100%) that there are no viruses/malware left, but either they screwed something up, or my efforts to subsequently clean the computer up did.ow I booted into safe mode once or twice, and was able to run 32 bit programs! But now I can't do that anymore: Both regular and safe-mode boots result in the same problem.

Windows' explorer will not open on top. If I've got other applications open and I click on the 'My Computer' icon in the taskbar the Explorer window opens behind the window of the opened application.Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but I thought those windows used to open 'on top'.How do I restore the old behavior?
