I have read the past posts regarding this issue and I have tried the so called hotfix that Microsoft issued regarding this issue but it did not work.
Asus G74sx
Intel i7 2670qm processor
16gb ram
Windows Ultimate 64bit version
I have done the hotfix, I have ran check disk, I have run Norton 360, I did not have this problem before the last windows update. I even tried rolling back. I got fed up and ran the recovery disk that came with my laptop, and I still have the same problem.
I read through a few threads with similar topics but the issues were either not quite the same and/or resolved comparatively easily. I am trying to repair a 1.5 year-old HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. This machine is used as the main office computer in a small doctor's office. In spite of my warnings, anti-virus software was not installed until it was too lateThere was a major issue about seven months ago that required another company to repairThe problem is explorer.exe will not run. Double-clicking a shortcut on the desktop, clicking the text name of a program from the Start menu, and even in the cmd results in the same response, a dialog box pops up stating windows explorer has stopped working.
windows is checking for a solution to the problem. followed by another box stating windows explorer is restarting. But the requested application never starts. I have run the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win, replaced the hard drive and cloned all data, run numerous registry scans, malware scans and antivirus scans. Initially removing over 1500 virus/malware hits and over 1400 registry errors. But the main problem persists, explorer.exe won't open programs.
If I click on one directory I get "Windows Explorer has stopped working". It used to be fine but crashes WE every time now. A colleague suggested right click and reset the properties, but right click causes the crash too.I can open it remotely from an XP system, and I can navigate it in a DOS box so I know the files are all still good.Disk check says "No problems".Sophos anti-virus scan finds nothing. Malwarebytes scan finds nothing.None of these crash or report corruption.
I have a problem with my Windows 7. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. The problem is that when I try to enter a certain folder in my external hdd explorer crashes... Can it be the size of folder? It's 524GB big... Maybe explorer can't take it? Just upgraded from Vista and I had no problems on Vista what so ever... I've tried CCleaner and other pc cleaning software.
first of all i have a sony laptop with 7 ultimate 64bit, the problem started when i was using convertxtodvd (software) and watching Internet videos at the same time. i was watching online videos and had converxtodvd converting a video into dvd, (for maybe 15 mins?), then the computer suddenly frozed. i turned it off figure that maybe the laptop coundn't handle that much task. i turned it back on and probelms started to show, the explorer.exe started crashing every 5 to 8 mins after the computer starts up. i tweaked it a little bit, but i ended up with no success. so i decided to reboot the whole computer, but after the installation, i receive an error message just before i get to the preference screen (the screen where u choose your computer name and such) it states, "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter and unexpected error. windows installation cannot proceed. to install windows click "ok" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. but the thing is this error message appears every time and i never get to the preference screen.could it be that something is broken internally? maybe the memory is faulty? graphic card is faulty? damaged? because i also remember back that my lil brother hit the laptop (the keyboard part) a couple of times (pretty hard too).
This is a really weird problem. I'm not sure it is directly related to Windows 7, but I thought I start here. I recently had to rebuild my Dell 531. New HD, Windows 7 Ultimate loaded over XP. I restored all my files from Mosy. Reloaded all the Office apps from Office 2007 Ultimate. What I just found is that there are certain Word and Excel files that if I even highlight using Explorer or try to open in the application will immediately crash the application. But, it is only certain files. There may be a dozen files in a folder and only a few will cause a crash. It doesn't take down the computer, only the application - I don't have to click on the file - only touch it. It doesn't happen on PDFs or graphic files (at least not that I found.)It gets weirder. I used FolderMatch to sync files between my Dell 531 and my Dell 9200 laptop. The very same files that I copied from the Dell 531 to the laptop do not have the problem on the laptop. The laptop is running the same version of Windows 7 and application programs as the 531.
When I right-click certain folders, I Windows Explorer crashes. There's no pattern that I can see where some folders will crash Windows Explorer and others will not[CODE]
my windows oftenly crash everytime i refreshes the desktop for more than 3 times or open a larger memory folder.(eg. documents or the C:drive) this is the details of the crashes.
A lot of people I have discovered within the last few days have had a problem with right clicking in explorer, causing it to crash. This occurs of Vista, and 7 (7100 atleast) when you install an app, and it installs a context menu shortcut or whatever.
The simple way to get rid of the crashing is by going to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shellex ContextMenuHandlers" in regedit.exe, backing up the whole ConxtentMenuHandlers folder, and then start deleting all of them one by one (you can start with the ones you've been meaning to get rid of anyway ) and continuously testing the right click. Be careful not to click on an actual folder when opening of explorer after the crash because for me that seemed to solve the problem temporarily. Instead just open up your username folder and right click on a file until it stops. Of course import the Context folder after you find it, test explorer once again by right clicking to make sure you found the problem, and delete the file that caused the problem.
my explorer crash when i connect or disconnect USB device, in this case flash drive.it's not everytime, but frequently happen.I already tried CCleaner.
I've done a new install of win7 ultimate & im getting random reboots & often explorer.exe crash's which force me to reboot often. I have included a bsod dump file & a screen shot of the cpu-z of the memory & hopefully someone can let me know what the problem might be,
Every time I start my laptop it gets past the welcome screen and then goes black and a window appears stating that Windows Explorer has stopped working. I use task manager to get to Run. I attempt to start explorer.exe but the task manager crashes as well. The same thing happens in Safe Mode and i can't get to MSCONFIG to run a clean boot.[CODE]
With my Windows Seven, when going to Control Panel / Programs / Associate un file type or a protocol to a program (translated from French, not sure it is exactly this...), it crashs explorer before the list displays....?
Today I started my PC without problems...logged in...then I clicked the My Documents button in RocketDock. Something weird happened. I get the error : Windows Explorer Crashed .I tried in Safe Mode and it worked ?! I scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO but only an adware. Restarted and still the same problem . It's annoying because if I want to access my files I need to use Free Commander

Had a bad storm last night, so I shut down the comp. Restarted this a.m. tried to stream the Arsenal match and mozilla would crash every time I tried to leave the home page. Went to IE, watched the match, and then began to TS moz. After a bit I decided to unistall. Upon trying to reinstall i get a corrupt file error msg during extraction. I then tried to d.l. Chrome and had problems w. that too. Yet amazingly enough, IE works fine. Is this Microsoft just f'in w. me 'cause I'm not amused?I also notice that in my start menu I have no quick select icons for network connections, control panel, etc.

The first time I start a browser after each reboot, I get a Windows Explorer crash, but it's not a full blown crash. It just says "Windows Explorer has stopped working", but it doesn't seem like it closes and restarts.
I first noticed it with Firefox, but then I switched back to Google Chrome. Same things. I haven't tried IE because, well, I don't use it. After that, I never see it again until a reboot.
I'm on Windows 7 x64.
Crash details below... Code: Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH
I am getting the explorer.exe error multiple times in the day, I have also repair installed and also restored the system at the safe state of system but after sometimes the error occurs as before. I have also done sfc/scannow system file checking but it says the system does not have any integrity problems.
I have a pretty big problem regarding my Explorer, it keeps crashing when I browse through my music or photo's, video's or whatever that basically needs or shows a thumbnail I guess. It's pretty annoying cause it happens over and over again! I've tried a command (sfc) scan and virusscans, as well as i've booted with Clean Boot, Safe-Mode and did a System Restore.[CODE]
I've got a new install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on new hardware - a Foxconn motherboard replacing an older faulty EVGA motherboard. Since install, I've had several explorer.exe crashes, and a few bluescreens.SFC /scannow came back clean. A basic memory test (windows internal test from boot) also came back clean. Running full disk check after posting this. See error description below and attached dump logs.
Whenever I click on folders that contain mkv/h264 files, explorer crashes. But if I view the folders through the open feature of say notepad, then I can click and delete the folders no problem.
Okay so I just tried to add a new network location in the My Computer.
I set the network address as \MYLAPTOP but the program didn't let me do that because I need to specify a folder. I don't want to specify a folder because I just want to use the root folder. So I then typed it as \MYLAPTOP\ with an extra slash at the end. The shortcut was made but it didn't work so I tried to remove it.
Now every time I press "delete" on the shortcut Explorer.exe crashes and restarts. I tried this in safe mode with and without internet access but it always crashed.
Now I'm just looking for a way to manually delete the icon through registry or some other editor.
- I have two QNAP NAS servers, which put the drives after 30 mins idle in sleep mode.
- Windows 7 network discovery sees the two NAS servers all the time.
- When you make drive mappings to shares on the NAS servers, (it seems) at random times Explorer hangs (goes into stall) when trying to browse/access files or directories. Only a reboot helps.
- I'm accessing the drives via regular SMB, no HomeGroup, no AD etc.
- When you map the drives initiallially it asks for a password. Storing that account info into the credentials manager doesn't help.
- I tried to open ports 137-139 and 445 in the firewall, but that doesn't help.
My theory is that Windows breaks by default the connection with the NAS after 15 mins of idling. That's standard behaviour. What puzzles me is that Visita didn't have this issue and Windows 7 has.
When trying to open the Control Panel explorer.exe crashes. In every other situation explorer works normal. Its a dead end cause I cannot remove or add programs from the control panel.I have all latest Windows versions with Windows update and have added XP compatibility mode to Windows 7 (32 bit, pre-installed). SQL Server 2012 is installed including .Net framework - apart from that nothing special. [code]
I have windows 7 ultimate on my hp laptop. for a month now, I cannot open window media player. When I click to open wmp, it does not do anything. If I go to song and click play, it gives me server execution failed error. I cannot open internet explore 32bits. But, I can open internet explorer 64 bits.
on every attempt to bring system window from control panel or right clicking my computer explorer.exe crashes, problem is no minidump is created to include, and i do have it enabled from "sysdm.cpladvancedstartup"
