I created one for each of my multiple Gmail accounts etc and I changed their icons to something so I can identify which was which. The shortcut's took the icon and worked fine for a short period than I noticed every time I click on the icon after changing the default icon to my new one It would change the icon back to Gmails default one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUpon first opening Explorer in Windows 7, everything works fine. If I switch to another folder, I lose previews. In some folders, I have no icons at all. It doesn't seem to matter what the content is: .docx, .jpg, .avi. All icons are lost. The dreaded green bar starts crawling across the top. I have a spinning magnifying glass in the left pane. In "my computer" I can't navigate to any drives. It's beyond frustrating.I use a custom desktop theme and everything worked up to now; switched to Aero theme and have the same issues. I've run Malwarebytes. No problems discovered. I rebuilt the icon cache. Same problem as above. I did a system restore to a point before this started. Same problem. I started in safe mode. Everything works fine.

I have in the taskbar properties "Use small icons", "Group when taskbar is full", and this value changed with regedit: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowMetrics] "MinWidth"="40" I want to look like all the icons from Explorer the same, no matter in what folder is at the moment, look like they are all left as the yellow icon entirely. How can I do that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have network drives mapped on my machine (Win 7 Pro 64bit) and any time I open Explorer while not connected to my companies domain, the icons take anywhere from 15-20 seconds to fully display.
As soon as I disconnect all the drives, the icons display immediately.
Some of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.

I have a one year old HP pc with Windows 7. My problem is that quite a few of the desktop icons wont open, such as itunes, Advanced System Care4 etc. If I dbl-click on one, the pointer flickers momentarily and then nothing however if I open the task manager they are listed as running. Today I clicked on itunes and it didn't open so I gave up and left and watched an entire football game on TV. I came back 3 hrs later set down at my desk and all of a suden itunes popped up. Three hours to load the program. Same will happen with AVS4. I have turned off all start up items and shut down microsoft items at start up and that worked once then the problem began again so I tried it again but this time it knew what I was doing and went around the fix. )
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling softwares, registry fixes, registry cleaners ,Malwarebites,IOBits, AVG scans, Microsofts "sfc /scannow" but no signs of a virus or registry corruption. Even tried a memory scan. (said programs won't open from All Programs list either)
i run winows 7 and when i log in i can open the desktop icons for a while but then they stop working and the mouse wont open them or right click on them and neither can i right click on the open desktop as nothing happens.ive tried a system restore no good. when i restart hte computer its ok for a few minutes then the same problem again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem that came up recently and I think it might have something to do with one of the latest Windows 7 updates. Most of the time when I open up My Computer, it scans for a really long time and shows nothing(ie.no HDDs, Optical Drives or Network Locations) and in certain folders the icons and thumbnails are completely missing. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
View 1 Replies View Relatedrestarting explorer.exe if taskbar icons vanish. But a big issue left me shunning to restart explorer.exe. I didn't know how it started but everything I restart windows explorer some of the icons disapeer, not all but some significant ones like Deskspace which is manageble only to right-click on the tskbar icon, and Ditto, a software that saves your Ctrl-C data for later which the pop-up selector is located on the taskbar icon, all the others are find but this all happens when I restart windows explorer. It's really annoying to log off and log back on just to config or use some of my most useful programs.
