Cannot Access HP Recovery (F11) After Using Macrium Reflect?

Aug 4, 2012

previously I used Macrium Reflect to do an image of my HP laptop's hard disk, and yesterday, i tried to recover using the image, everything was successful, however, I cannot access the recovery partition anymore. Pressing F11 while booting does not boot into Recovery Manager anymore like it previously did, instead it went straight into booting windows... and i tried to access the folders inside the recovery partition, it says that the files are corrupted and unreadable.

Disc ASUS Recovery Error 1029, Cannot Boot Into That Recovery Partition

Jun 23, 2012

I've gotten to the point where I need to just reinstall windows completely on my Asus G74SX (too many problems, I want to start fresh.). I encounter an error 1029 with Asus's recovery disks that I made when I had windows working: it says it is recovering all the way to 100% then doesnt work. I am in the process of trying it again so I'll see if it actually managed to wipe my hard drive like it said it was doing, and maybe if it did actually work and reinstall windows. However, I'd like to be able to get into the recovery partition because I would prefer restoring it with Asus as they recommend me to. However, when I hit F9, their target to get there, it doesn't do anything and just reloads the boot screen, with the Asus logo on it. I don't have an actual Wndows recovery CD so that's not an option, and at this point since my hard drive has likely been wiped by these recovery DVDs, I don't think going into Ubuntu and fixing the MBR will do me much good anymore. It may be worth noting that before I last restarted, I marked the Windows partition as active because of a tutorial here, making it so that recovery partition isn't active anymore.

Windows 7 Boot In Boot Recovery Mode?

Nov 2, 2012

Every time I boot my computer, it come up loading files, the open the boot recovery mode. If I leave it, it says that it fix one error, then it restarts and does the same again. The error was that it the boot.ini was missing. So I booted it up with ubuntu, and created an empty boot.ini file, then booted the minitool partition wizard (Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.) and configured the boot.ini. But still no luck. It's booting into recovery mode because that is the first partition.

SSD, ChkDsk And Macrium Not In Harmony

Apr 28, 2012

I just installed an Intel 330 120G SSD in my netbook. Macrium Reflect worked brilliantly to clone and resize the partiions to fit from a larger 250G hard drive to the new 120G SSD.After swapping in the new SSD, I wanted to make an image of the completed install but Reflect balked for the C: drive with an "MFT error" and a suggestion to run ChkDsk.I did as instructed and ChkDsk returned a bunch of errors but I suspect they are not really errors but rather unexpected results from an SSD. There were about ten of these...CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)... 0 percent complete. (0 of 151808 file records processed)Attribute record (128, "") from file record segment 1536 is corrupt.

Macrium To Backup To A Network Drive?

He has Windows 7 home which apparently can't do backup to a network drive. I see Macrium is recommended here. Can the free version backup and recover a system image to a network drive?

I have used the exact same procedure with my Win 7 Pro 32bit computer and it all works fine.

Use Macrium Reflect Free To Clone Laptop?

Feb 20, 2012

At the moment I have two Sony Vaio laptops. My old one has an 80 GB hard drive partitioned as a C and D drive and has Windows XP. My new one has a 320 GB hard drive in one partition C running Windows 7 64 bit. I have several backups on a Freecom 320 GB external hard drive created with Macrium Reflect free edition.

The latest back-up I have on the Freecom is the complete contents of my new computer ammounting to about 72 GB.

Would it be possible for me to copy what is on the Freecom to my old computer in order to create a clone of my new computer? I basically want to have this as a backup in case the new laptop croaks. If this is possible would I have to prepare the old drive in any way such as wiping it clean or re-partitioning it or would the stuff on the Freecom do that as it copied?

Macrium Free 5 Couldn't Create Image

Mar 13, 2012

I recently built a pc and all is well. Clean install of Windows 7 HP 64. For the first couple of days I was in and out of the system as the default admin (user you are asked to create during Windows 7 install). It wad during this time I installed macrium reflect free 5. I images the system after getting all the drivers in and then set up a scheduled backup for 7am each day. Worked fine.

Now I have created a normal user for me without admin privilege (for security reasons) which will be my day to day login. However this morning macrium failed to run the scheduled image. I was logged in as me, the low lvl user, not admin. The log file had an error about being unable to access adminxml file

I'm guessing this is because I installed macrium whilst an admin? Additionally I created the xml file whilst admin and then turned it into a schedlue whilst admin. However the xml and schedule are both set to run as admin with the admin password typed in.

Macrium is available to me as a normal user but when I launch it I'm asked for the admin password. Just trying to give as much info as poss.

Can't Boot Recovery CD

Jun 22, 2011

The original problem was that the Windows 7 boot manager had gotten installed on a different drive (M: ) than the main installation drive (C: ), and I wanted to move it from M: to C: .One posted fix involved, among other things, declaring C: to be Active and M: not to be active anymore. Getting C: to be Active was not so hard. Getting M: to be inactive involved diskpart. Both C: and M: are in the BIOS, and I moved C: to come before M:. This change in itself was not a problem -- I could still boot at this point (but it was still from M: ).Since the diskpart change, I can't boot at all. I've tried booting from my rescue CD (Award 6.00PG BIOS), and I get as far as "Booting from CD/DVD: Press any key to continue". Whether I do or not, I next get to "Windows Boot Manager: Windows failed to start..." The keyboard is dead at this point. Since it's the WINDOWS Boot Manager, something must get read either from the CD or from the C: hard disk. The file with the problem is stated as /Boot/BCD.It's not clear to me whether the diskpart caused a problem with the rescue -- I guess not. But at any rate, my simple problem now is: How to I boot from the rescue CD? I've tried rescue CDs made at two different Windows 7 computers, and also the original Windows 7 (upgrade) installation DVD.

Cannot Boot From Recovery Partition

Jun 20, 2012

My sister just got a new laptop with 7, then accidentally installed a friend's version of 7 on top of it, thinking it was Microsoft Office. I'm trying to restore to factory settings so she doesn't lose all the software that came with the computer.

I know the recovery partition is on the computer (I made it appear by assigning it a drive letter). But I cannot boot from it (or whatever I need to do to access it).

I have tried the following:

1) Advanced Boot Options -> Repair -> System Image Recovery: no system image
-> System Restore: no restore point

2) all possible F# keys at startup, including F10 which got me to Edit Boot Options, which seemed hopeful because it named the partition number, 3, but did not allow me to change it (the recovery partition is 2).

3) F2 -> setup (nothing there)

4) burning an iso of Windows 7 recovery disc, which just gave me the same repair tool as in the 1st attempt.

5) setting the recovery partition as "active" (in fact, I think it was already active).

Recovery Completes But Won't Boot

May 1, 2012

I received recovery discs from acer. First I deleted the 100 mb partition as per acer and ran the recovery. It finished and the system rebooted however I received the following boot error msg: Windows boot mgr.Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change may be the cause.

1. Insert your windows install disc and restart.

2. choose your language settings and click "next".

3. Click "repair your computer"

File BootBCD
Status: 0xc0000225
Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

It is my understanding from acer that windows 7 is re-installed from the recovery discs. Don't understand why this msg. Dont have any windows 7 discs. The acer logo does come up after boot but goes directly to the screen with the above info.

How To Boot From Recovery Partition

Dec 24, 2012

My last windows update went haywire and left me unbootable. I ran a live linux distro off an SD card to retrieve my HDD data, then decided it was time for a reformat/fresh windows 7 install. However, the factory reset process in my Gateway laptop failed a couple of times, and then the third try I would get stuck at a bootloader error and was thoroughly screwed. So I burned a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (correct) cd to an SD card and used that to boot, formatted the HDD and installed a fresh clean Windows 7.Unfortunately the sticker on my laptop is worn out and while it's 99% legible Windows isn't accepting it. I went into trial mode, and realized I was also missing a ton of drivers and whatnot.I know that installing through the recovery partition, while full of bloatware, I get my Windows product key and proper activation, as well as all the drivers and stuff I need.... F8 into startup repair doesn't help, and instead starts a recovery process on C:, not X:.When I try Gateway's alt-F10 keysmosh it stops halfway through "loading files" and I get "An unexpected I/O error has occurred," 0xc00000e9

Insert your windows installation disc and restart, 2 choose your language settings and then click "next" 3 click repair computer.
