Dec 12, 2009I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop and have recently upgraded to windows 7 professional (32bit) from windows vista. Everything seems to be running smoothly except I can get no sound from the internal laptop speakers. When I plug in external speakers in via the jacks on the front, sound comes through fine, but as soon as I unplug them there is nothing. Headphones also work like this too. Under sounds in device manager, it simply says 'High Definition Audio Device', and I'm not sure if I should be downloading some other drivers?

Aug 22, 2012I seem to be having crashes on my laptop as of recent, but the patterns they follow are very strange. It's almost like i'm getting a BSOD while it being used, but instead the screen just go black and all power cuts. It then reboots and starts up as usual. As far as I can tell there is no conflicting software causing this, and it happens without any pattern. Since there is no Blue Screen, I cannot give a dump file. However, on the even viewer, I see an event labeled under the critical category. Now this seems like the CPU or other internal component is overheating, But when i look at HWMonitor Pro, the CPU stays under a steady 84C under load and 60C idle. This happens in a range of occasions such as rendering videos with Handbrake to simply browsing the web. I will say this, I recently swapped out my RAM cards because the OEM one's were causing BSOD's about a month ago. If you'd like more specific information on the laptop, visit my old thread.

Jan 27, 2012Have a small home network that has 1 desktop, 3 laptops, and tablet PC. The laptops are wireless and use Vista Home Premium and Windows 7). The desktop is hooked directly to the router via Ethernet (an Acer the problem PC).The router is WRTU54G-TM with the latest firmware, with security on it set to WPA-Personal and TKIP encryption. It hooks into cable modem. The Acer has a NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet NIC that came with system. Driver is 73.0.6.0 dated 4/30/2009. The system is less than a year old. System is Acer AX3400G-U4802 bought from Wal-mart.Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit ssigned to same Workgroup as other PCs.The Acer had problems a month ago when the power went off and on a couple of times. It then would not display a screen on the monitor. The fan and system would come on but not beep. Sent it in to Acer and they returned it saying nothing was wrong. Was able to power it up initially, but then had the display issue again. After turning system off and on multiple times I got it to come up. It won't connect to the router. Doesn't see it. In the ipconfig it was giving a 169 IP address. Seeing that DHCP was not working, I manually changed the IP to what is needed to connect to the router and used the router's gateway IP. Still no joy. The NIC cable should be fine. Tried others. Same result.
I am ready to return it again to Acer and tell them about the Internet issue. Oh, by the way checked my wall outlets and all are getting enough juice. May have to invest in a backup power supply. Here is a detail of ipconfig that I have tried (can't do advanced Windows tricks as this is the Home Premium addition and Microsoft has dumbed it down ) :

Jun 29, 2012I have an Hp625 running Windows 7 Basic 32 bit - I can play music through my laptops built in speakers without any problems, but when I plug headphones (or external computer speakers) into the headphone jack no sound comes through them (and simultaneously the laptop speakers go mute). My computer is dual boot with ubuntu, and this problem appeared when I upgraded my Ubuntu version - still, I know that the jack works as it is working fine in Ubuntu, and Im sure the problem is fixable within windows!
My computer is using the IDT audio control panel, and according to windows everything us up to date and fine.
Sound Randomly Switching Between Headphones And Laptop Speakers
Sep 8, 2012Basically my problem is at random times, my headset will just stop working and it will switch back to my laptop, as if my headphones are not even plugged in. It happens multiple times a day, seemingly at random (lately its been this way, but I have had it go longer than a day without doing this to me). As I am browsing the internet, as I am turning on a game, when I am away and the computer is just sitting there.
I've tried checking my device manager for differences when it is working and when it is not, I've tried updating all software, I've tried setting default devices. None of it has helped.
The only thing that fixes this is logging off, or restarting the computer. This then returns it to normal. My laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 windows 7 home premium x64. Headphones in question are Razor Carcharias.

Jan 15, 2013It is now running on Win 7 sp1 (afaik) with all the latest updates installed. This is why it has not just been brought back to the shop where it was purchasedMy problem is that I cannot play audio through the laptops own speakers. When in a very quiet room you can hear faint crackling from the speakers when they are turned up fully. If you plug in headphones or hdmi, the either will work perfectly no problem with sound. I have the latest Realtek audio driver for my computer installed and I have spent the last week checking and re checking all of the sound settings.The computer says that the device is ''working properly'' when I troubleshoot it.
