I bought this computer on craigslist and the disk showed some errors, so I went to migrate to an SSD using Clonezilla. The migration to the SSD failed, so I put the HDD back in the system. Now it's telling me I need to reactivate, and the key is not valid. Is this repairable? It is a Lenovo X61s laptop with a Vista Business DVD License on the bottom. Was upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.... or so I was told.

When I try to log in on windows 7 it keeps telling me password is incorrect, but I know its the right one .When I log in via safe mode it accepts the password with no problem I have changed the password a few times but when I reboot it says wrong password So I need to start safe mode etc.
I've installed the updates upon request. It's been two days now and the pop up keeps on coming saying the same two updates available. I checked the update history and the updates were all installed successfully. These updates are actually a few years old and it's odd how they just popped up. The updates were for MS Framerwork KB2600217 and KB2656351
I have windows 7 on a CD (and USB as well) which does not get recognized on my laptop (Samsung NP RV520). I can boot from both successfully on 2 other machines. My boot order is cd, usb, hdd .When I insert windows7 cd, it is ignored and I get the choice to start the existing win7 installation in normal or safe mode or repair. (I have succesfully booted XP and I'll try Ubuntu tomorrow as well.)When I insert windows7 usb, computer freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen with logo. The existing installation of windows 7 freezes on the login screen, no matter what mode I use. It takes about 15-30 minutes for it to get to the login screen (and then it freezes) or it freezes before and shows a blank black screen, for hours.I did install UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) and tried to use boot managers from there, but all of them gave errors when I tried to boot from the windows 7 cd/usb, or the cd/dvd/usb did not get detected at all. [code] I also booted miniXP from Hiren CD successfully and ran a bunch of diagnostics tools. GMER showed 5 results in rootkit/malware, but I'm not sure how to interpret them.Do these issues sound like something a virus in boot sector or MBR could do? That's a hunch I have, but I'm not a techie so I don't know.windows 7 was reinstalled at a service, and same problems started after a few days again.
Windows keep telling me that one of my programs has stopped working. Usually its either my windows gadgets that have stopped working or windows explorer. This message is also displayed with a few other programs.
I will try to explain this.First i have Asus laptop N75sf and it comes with two hard disks Seagate ST 9500423AS each 500 gb.The one i use for storing documents movies etc. it is not recognized. But i can use the laptop because the other one is good and there is my windows installed. When i turn on my laptop the hard disk makes some noise more than usual but after a while it stops.Sometimes my laptop freezes completly and i cant move my mouse nothing.
When I plug in my 8 GB PNY Metal-CPC719N USB drive on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5735Z) I get the "USB Device not recognised" problem.
When I check device management to see whether it is an assignment issue, it is not in the list and regardless of the slot it is placed in, I receive the same message.
However, when I plug it into my tower (Custom built) I do not receive this message and it loads instantaneously. For the record, both are running Windows 7 Ultimate, wih he laptop in 32-Bit and my Tower in 64-Bit.
windows 7 dvd maKEr is telling me there is not enough disk space on a dvd when i use my bluray to burn it , but the same files fit when i use the same disk in my dvd burner... i am not trying to burn a blu ray .. and yes my bluray does burn dvds.. i just installed the bluray.. are there setting i need to change somewhere?
My Seagate Expansion drive is not being recognized on my laptop or any other computer that I have tried to put it on. It worked for a while It is fairly new and I have about 500gb on it so far and I don't want to lose any of my data because most of it is my university files.I don't know why this is happening and I also can't even change the drive letter, I really don't know much about computers but
since i install CCCP 2011 (both of 2011 versions) some old programs stop to detect AVI formats in my pc and keep telling me it unknown format, video players working fine, and even editer programs such as movie maker, premier, and sony vegas, but old programs such as: 123 AVI to GIF Converter,Ulead GIF Animator 5,Gif Creator, and EximiousSoft GIF Creator v5.75 stop detected AVI!i assume the new cccp stop using some sort of filter or codec, i also notice that even progrems like movie maker edit my videos in totaly low quality.. no mattar what i change in the options (and yea , i done clean install to cccp 2011 , delete the old one, restart, delete leftover, install cccp 2011). there is any kind of codec that can run AVI files without interfere with cccp?
Media Center Component failing to load.In the thread above it became apparent my install was bad. So, I performed a fresh install. This weekend I recv'd a notice that my backup failed due to corrupt C: . I ran sfc /verifyonly. I've attached both logs. In my last install I had placed all Users onto another drive. This was reported as a bad idea & I assumed it was at least a part of the issue. On the clean install I left everything as Windows wanted it. I do install programs that I expect to not need forever or ones which I don't care about speed, onto a second hard drive. All windows install related files & setup were left on the C: this time.

I clicked on Device Manager > Other Devices > Mass Storage Controller. Under Device Status it said, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)."
I don't know what device they are talking about. All the storage devices on my PC seem to be working. Why does DM think there is a Mass Storage Controller at location PCI bus 7, device 1, function 2? I clicked on Update Drive - search failed to find a driver and suggested none needed. I clicked the Uninstall button and the message dissapeared until I rebooted the system.
Can somone tell me why Windows 7 might think there is a Mass Storage Controller on my PC?
I bought my daughter a laptop. I dont have a windows 7 disc as windows 7 came already installed. However yesterday when she turned laptop off to have her tea and when she went back to use it. We noticed that after the windows logo had appeared the screen stayed black we could move the mouse but that was about it. I put the laptop into safe mode and checked for viruses malware and trojans, also tried a system restore but that didn't seem to do anything and found nothing suspicious.
Also did the sfc /scannow no errors reported. I read that you could get into the Task manager and stop the explore.exe and add a new one and start it again. This however I cannot try as I cant get past the windows logo screen.. So in a nut shell here's what ive tried and failed at doing..
1- Startup repair 2- System restore 3- (Via Safemode) checking for viruses, malware, trojans. 4- (Vie Safemode) updated to latest Graphic Driver 5- Tried this >> Windows 7 Black Screen Of Death Fix << did its job but after reboot went back to black screen 6- Removed battery and pressed power button for 30 - 60 seconds (to no avail)
