Laptop Won't Boot Sticks On Windows Logo
Oct 8, 2012trying to solve a problem on a dell inspiron n5010 running windows 7 when you switch it on it goes to the black boot up screen and you are given these options Launch startup repair(recomended) start windows normally
if i select start windows normally it goes to the windows start up logo but eventually freezes then crash to a blue screen than goes off immediatley before i can read the info on screen if i select the launch start up repair it goes to a blue screen with some small pics of leaves on and stays there and does nothing
Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery i have read this but i dont even get the grey option boxes just that blue screen background

Jul 21, 2012I have windows 7 on a CD (and USB as well) which does not get recognized on my laptop (Samsung NP RV520). I can boot from both successfully on 2 other machines.My boot order is cd, usb, hdd .When I insert windows7 cd, it is ignored and I get the choice to start the existing win7 installation in normal or safe mode or repair. (I have succesfully booted XP and I'll try Ubuntu tomorrow as well.)When I insert windows7 usb, computer freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen with logo.The existing installation of windows 7 freezes on the login screen, no matter what mode I use. It takes about 15-30 minutes for it to get to the login screen (and then it freezes) or it freezes before and shows a blank black screen, for hours.I did install UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) and tried to use boot managers from there, but all of them gave errors when I tried to boot from the windows 7 cd/usb, or the cd/dvd/usb did not get detected at all. [code] I also booted miniXP from Hiren CD successfully and ran a bunch of diagnostics tools. GMER showed 5 results in rootkit/malware, but I'm not sure how to interpret them.Do these issues sound like something a virus in boot sector or MBR could do? That's a hunch I have, but I'm not a techie so I don't know.windows 7 was reinstalled at a service, and same problems started after a few days again.

May 8, 2012I have been unable to get Windows to accept a memory upgrade. I want to increase my memory from 4Gig to 8Gig (ie 2 sticks of 2Gig, to 4 sticks of 2 Gig). Windows hangs with all 4 sticks installed, but boots normally with only 3 sticks installed ?
It seems that the BIOS is happy to accept 4 sticks x 2Gig ... but Windows hangs: With all 4 sticks installed The BIOS will boot and the Windows boot screen appears (the four star animation) ... and then the system hangs !
By a process of elimination, I have been able to deduce that none of the individual sticks, or the individual slots are faulty: I can use any combination of 3 sticks in any combination of the four available slots, and it will boot OK and show 12 Gig of memory available.
I have checked that all 4 memory sticks are identical (Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz DDR3), and I have downloaded and installed the latest BIOS ... but the problem persists.
I note that the 2 original memory sticks are labelled V.2.12 and the second pair are labelled V.3.19, but I also note that they are happy running together as long as I only use 3 sticks (any 3 sticks !). The problem only arises when I try to use all 4 !

When I check device management to see whether it is an assignment issue, it is not in the list and regardless of the slot it is placed in, I receive the same message.
However, when I plug it into my tower (Custom built) I do not receive this message and it loads instantaneously. For the record, both are running Windows 7 Ultimate, wih he laptop in 32-Bit and my Tower in 64-Bit.

Jul 26, 2012I have three ram sticks. One, I had replaced because it had been scanned as being faulty. After a while I began to have the same problems as when I still had the ram stick, so I I took out one to see how it worked, and it was fine, so I assumed the one I had taken out was faulty as well, but later I found it to be a little suspicious, so I tested the second bad one in the slot that my good one had been in and it worked. Then I tried the good one in the slot that the bad ones had been in and that's when I had a problem, so it appears my ram stick slot is the problem. Is there a way to find real proof ?

Nov 20, 2009About 3 weeks ago I put 4 2gb sticks of RAM in my machine. Got them from Crucial.com. (I'd had 2gbs before but took those out and gave them away so the 4 new ones would all match.) So here I am with 8gbs and it was fabulous. Right off the bat not only my CS4 but also my Photoshop7 both recognized the 8gbs and everything just flew.
Then a few days ago I noticed that PS7 was sluggish and, sure enough, when I checked I saw that it was only seeing 2gbs again. I know PS7 isn't even supposed to see it but it did and it was great.
The CS4 is still fine but I just don't like it as well as 7, call me crazy but there it is.
Does anybody know how I can get 7 to see the 8gbs again. I have no problem going into the registry but have no clue where to go. I have spent days searching for an answer but haven't found it.
USB Sticks Don't Work
Aug 3, 2011I did a fresh install of Win 7 Pro 64 bit a few days ago. Everything seemed ok and there were no hiccups during the install.My problem is when I plug in a USB stick, it doesn't show up in "my computer". First I thought it a bad stick, but I have tried 3 and none work. When I plug it in, I hear the new hardware noise and window pops up saying found new hardware, but then it fails to load it. Device manager accurately names the stick, but windows can't find a driver for it.All my other USB devices work: mouse, keyboard, 2 printers, digital camera, just not USB storage sticks.

Nov 20, 2012I've been getting BSODs ever since I installed a RAM stick which differed from the other in my Inspiron 1420. I had to install a new one since the other no longer worked. The two RAM sticks differ from each other as I don't believe they are the same brand.
One is by PNY Electronics at 2048 megabytes with a bandwidth of 400MHz The other is by Hyundai Electronics at 1024 megabytes with a bandwidth of 333 MHz. They are both DDR2. I'm just wondering if this could be the cause of the BSODs I've been getting. The most recent BSODs are the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the driver ntoskrnl.exe and the number 0x0000000a.
I've heard that if you can identify the driver then there could be an option of disabling or uninstalling that driver to stop the BSODs.
Usb Sticks On Long File Names
Jul 25, 2012I generally have pretty long File names on files on my pc. Not sure what the limit in digits is, but generally no problem. But, if I try to download many of these with a particularly long file name to a USB memory stick, it comes back with an error MSG. That the name is too long. But, it wasn't too long on my pc. At first I thought it was my power supply not supplying enough power anymore because it's 2+ years old and has been through many builds.Well, I ran Memtest last night just to be sure, and after waking up 8 hours later, Memtest had reported over 450+ errors, this was with BOTH ram sticks inserted / being tested.My timings were set as they should be (9-9-9-24-2t command rate and 1.5v DRAM voltage).I'm currently testing 1 stick at a time to see if the errors pop up on one stick only. Now, in the BIOS, I have the timings set to 9-9-9-24-2t command rate, 1.5v DRAM voltage, but in Memtest it says: CAS: 6-6-6-20 / Single Channel (when testing one stick only)

When I try to boot up with one stick which is in slot DDR-B, the comp works. If I put another stick in DDR-A, comp boots up for 5-7 seconds and reboots. I use only one stick in DDR-A it's gonna be same error. So atm only DDR-B with one stick works.I tried to change timings and voltage in BIOS and result was this:9-9-9-27, dram volt 1,65, vtt auto and both sticks in boots up for 5-7 secs and reboots (there's no pic in monitor etc)9-9-9-27, dram volt 1,65, vtt auto and one stick in everything works.9-9-9-25, dram volt 1.5, vtt auto and two sticks in comp boots and stays on but there is no pic in monitor or any light on keyboard etc..9-9-9-25, dram volt 1.5, vtt auto and one stick in everything works. Sep 29, 2012I have a Zotac 570 gtx connected via HDMI cable to my Asus VE258 LED monitor.I've had this video card and monitor setup working before with the exact cable, card and monitor.Something changed in my system where the monitor is no longer recognized for what it is. When i go into my Nvidia control panel under change resolution 1.Digital Display, 2. DVI-PC Display - Resolution 1080p 59 Hz. There is no DVI cable plugged into the computer and the monitor is set on HDMI input. When i go to my Audio playback devices, the HDMI connection does not show up at all, even as disabled or disconnected.When i go to play a game (Diablo 3, Skyrim, Farcry2) The game either doesn't open (skyrim) giving me the error that resolution is not recognized (but then does not give me any resolutions to choose from in the options menu) or will play (Diablo 3) but is stuck on extremely low resolutions with only 2 options.
Here's what i've done. Contacted Zotac and had them send me the most recent drivers for the video card. Uninstalled originals and re-installed the new ones. Contacted Asus (they say its not the monitor as long as its set on HDMI input) I am unable to find a driver that will make my computer (Windows 7) recognize the monitor for what it is. Zotac failed after their attempt with the driver and told me to RMA the card. So i did... i waited a month.
USB Sticks Slow Transfer Speeds, System Takes Forever To Load Drivers?
Jan 31, 2012have been struggling with my system taking 2-3 minutes to find drivers for any memory stick I plug in to any of 3 USB ports on my Acer 1810T. When the process finally completes, the transfer speeds are about 1MB/s or less.Another (possibly related?) problem is when I insert any SD card in the dedicated slot for the first time, everything is fine. Once I remove and either re-insert (or insert a different card), nothing appears. I get a message saying "process is already in memory". I have to reboot to get things working again.

May 24, 2012I am trying to connect a Blue Snowball USB Microphone to record stuff with but when I plug it into the USB port it doesn't work. Windows recognizes the device and starts trying to install the drivers but then it fails and gives no explanation. In Device Manager it shows up as "Blue Snowball" but has a yellow exclamation point next to it. When I click on it and try to install drivers it says that there are no drivers available. The light is on the device so it's getting power. I checked their troubleshooting guide and turned the USB cord in the other direction. I've restarted my computer a few times, all to no avail. I am using USB 2.0 ports and my OS is Windows 7 - Professional 32-bit.
I consider the sound card but I can play music and use skype (if I connect a 3.5mm POS microphone to the back) just fine.
Steelseries Xai Not Recognized By Windows 7?
Sep 13, 2011Recently purchased a xai mouse from steelseries. I plugged it in and windows stared to automatically install the drivers. When it's done I try to use it, it won't track and none of the buttons work, but all the lights are on. I then downloaded the software from the steelseries website for this mouse, it could tell whether the mouse was connected or not. After changing a few settings I tried to use it and the mouse would still not track, but the buttons worked. I can't find this mouse in device manager.

Dec 6, 2012I've purchased a used Dell Precision 490 'born' June 2006 and 'driven only on Sundays.' The seller upgraded it for me from XP to 7 before shipping. (The genuine Windows 7 DVD was sent along with it.) The CD-ROM (TSSTcorp CD-RW TS-H292C ATA Device) is not recognized.The DVD drive works fine. The seller says the CD drive worked fine before with XP. When the computer boots up and also when restarted, the CD drive is listed as E: under "Computer" and also in the Device Manager. It does respond to a right click on E: to open the tray. When any of several CDs are run, the 'doughnut' spins for 5-8 minutes resulting with "E: refers to a location that is unavailable..." Or using the Task Manager to exit causes a gray out with "Computer not Responding." Then E: is no longer listed under Computer or in the Device Manger. The CD tray will not open.
With the CD inside it takes 5-8 minutes for the computer to shut down or restart. The CD tray can only be opened when the computer is first (re)starting. Without the CD inside start up is within 60 seconds. Using the Device Manager to update, the response is 'The best driver for your device is already installed.' Following Windows 7 troubleshooting, I've also uninstalled and rebooted to reload the driver. Checked the cables disconnecting and reconnecting the CD drive and mother board. Checked the registry for upper and lower filters (none were listed so none needed to be removed) and followed the numerous other measures listed in a thread, November 2, 2010... missing upper/lower filters registry cd/DVD - Microsoft Community Still unrecognized as above
Router Not Recognized By Windows 7?
Feb 23, 2011So I just finished building a computer..got everything running on it, and now im sitting at my windows 7 desktop...my issue here is I can't get access to the internet...I am wondering if I need specific drivers or something..I thought, perhaps, it would be a simple "plug and play" procedure where windows would recognize it right away...however, that's not the case...I have tried removing the cord from the back of the computer into both ethernet ports ..I see an orange led to indicate that the cord is being acknowledged and there is probably some communication...but windows tells me there are no connections
I am using an Asus p8p67 deluxe motherboard with two ports at the back for the internet.. PS: its a bell 2wire modem/router
