View 5 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 on a CD (and USB as well) which does not get recognized on my laptop (Samsung NP RV520). I can boot from both successfully on 2 other machines. My boot order is cd, usb, hdd .When I insert windows7 cd, it is ignored and I get the choice to start the existing win7 installation in normal or safe mode or repair. (I have succesfully booted XP and I'll try Ubuntu tomorrow as well.)When I insert windows7 usb, computer freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen with logo. The existing installation of windows 7 freezes on the login screen, no matter what mode I use. It takes about 15-30 minutes for it to get to the login screen (and then it freezes) or it freezes before and shows a blank black screen, for hours.I did install UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) and tried to use boot managers from there, but all of them gave errors when I tried to boot from the windows 7 cd/usb, or the cd/dvd/usb did not get detected at all. [code] I also booted miniXP from Hiren CD successfully and ran a bunch of diagnostics tools. GMER showed 5 results in rootkit/malware, but I'm not sure how to interpret them.Do these issues sound like something a virus in boot sector or MBR could do? That's a hunch I have, but I'm not a techie so I don't know.windows 7 was reinstalled at a service, and same problems started after a few days again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI will try to explain this.First i have Asus laptop N75sf and it comes with two hard disks Seagate ST 9500423AS each 500 gb.The one i use for storing documents movies etc. it is not recognized. But i can use the laptop because the other one is good and there is my windows installed. When i turn on my laptop the hard disk makes some noise more than usual but after a while it stops.Sometimes my laptop freezes completly and i cant move my mouse nothing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug in my 8 GB PNY Metal-CPC719N USB drive on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5735Z) I get the "USB Device not recognised" problem.
When I check device management to see whether it is an assignment issue, it is not in the list and regardless of the slot it is placed in, I receive the same message.
However, when I plug it into my tower (Custom built) I do not receive this message and it loads instantaneously. For the record, both are running Windows 7 Ultimate, wih he laptop in 32-Bit and my Tower in 64-Bit.
My Seagate Expansion drive is not being recognized on my laptop or any other computer that I have tried to put it on. It worked for a while It is fairly new and I have about 500gb on it so far and I don't want to lose any of my data because most of it is my university files.I don't know why this is happening and I also can't even change the drive letter, I really don't know much about computers but

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Zotac 570 gtx connected via HDMI cable to my Asus VE258 LED monitor.I've had this video card and monitor setup working before with the exact cable, card and monitor.Something changed in my system where the monitor is no longer recognized for what it is. When i go into my Nvidia control panel under change resolution 1.Digital Display, 2. DVI-PC Display - Resolution 1080p 59 Hz. There is no DVI cable plugged into the computer and the monitor is set on HDMI input. When i go to my Audio playback devices, the HDMI connection does not show up at all, even as disabled or disconnected. When i go to play a game (Diablo 3, Skyrim, Farcry2) The game either doesn't open (skyrim) giving me the error that resolution is not recognized (but then does not give me any resolutions to choose from in the options menu) or will play (Diablo 3) but is stuck on extremely low resolutions with only 2 options.
Here's what i've done. Contacted Zotac and had them send me the most recent drivers for the video card. Uninstalled originals and re-installed the new ones. Contacted Asus (they say its not the monitor as long as its set on HDMI input) I am unable to find a driver that will make my computer (Windows 7) recognize the monitor for what it is. Zotac failed after their attempt with the driver and told me to RMA the card. So i did... i waited a month.
I bought my son a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 laptop running Windows 7 for Christmas. He used the laptop about a week ago, and a couple of days ago tried to use it and it won't boot. Most of the time when the computer is turned on there is simply a blank screen. Sometimes a scree will show up that has Toshiba's name on it with F2 go to utility manager and F12 go to boot manager in the bottom left corner then a blank screen. Then sometimes it screen with Toshiba's name and the F2 and F12 will show up and them after a while something that looks like and underline that is blinking will show up in the upper left hand corner and there will appear a message that says ...

No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key
When it opens pressing F2 in Setup Utility the system date is correct, the System Date is correct and Language is in English. You can enter these three and change them. But the CPu Type, Cpu Speed, HDD/SSD, Total memoy Size, an Sytem Bios Version cannot be selected or entere. The boot manager can be entered and the boot sequence can be changed. Nothing else can be done, can't even enter safe mode.
Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop which runs Windows 7 is not shutting down. When shutting down, I receive a message that there is a background program running. I have to shut down the computer using the power button. Before I shut down the computer, I close all opened programs and then I open the task manager to see if there are any applications still running and there aren't any running.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBought the toshiba satellite A505-S6970 for college three years ago. Now the logo shows then the F2 or F12 menu. After which there is only a blinking cursor, There are no error beeps. Additionally the keyboard is entirely unresponsive: I can neither enter the F2 nor F12 menu. After powering I have left it sitting an hour but it was still a flashing cursor. It will not boot to usb if I put in a known to boot usb drive. Similarly it won't boot from a bootable CD or a DVD.

I tried to create one on my other win7 laptop but I only have cdrws and not dvdrws so I guess it failed because of lack of space to record everything? The cdrw did save some boot files but the Tosh laptop still couldn't load windows.I did manage to run the repair tool from the LT directly and when it finished it said the root cause was a corrupt registry. I presumed it had fixed it but windows still wouldn't load and now I only get the original problem message or the repair thing which never shows a windows and the HD stops sounding like it's actually scanning after about a 1/2 hour

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A500 that was preinstalled with Windows 7 home premium. Went to turn it on today and got a screen that said: Windows Error recovery. Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. It then gives the option to run windows start up repair or run windows normally.
The repair option starts but ends up with a grey back ground screen and a mouse arrow on the screen. Nothing else happens after this. I tried the start Windows normally option but it gets as far as the Windows logo and no further.
The only recent change has been the addition of a new modem / router, other then that it has been business as usual with no changes.
I have Toshiba laptop with Vista installed.
I have 1GB RAM so is it OK to install 7 without problems?
I bought a new Toshiba laptop (L300-1DN) for someone this year and they have Vista SP2 on it (obviously fully included with Toshiba drivers etc. which are also on a recovery disk). There is an option to buy an upgrade version for Vista users of Win 7 HP, but I have already bought a full version of Win 7 Pro, and my preference is a clean install as I'm not too sure about the success rate of upgrades and efficiency of the new operating system afterwards...
Therefore if I do a clean install of Win 7 Pro, what's the situation regarding drivers? I was told that Win 7 has many manufacturers' drivers built into it's kernel and that any manual update of drivers should be minimal?
I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 that i just purchased a couple weeks ago. Every few days I keep getting the blue screen that warns me it's about to shut down to prevent damage to my computer or something...i can never read the entire message, it comes and goes so fast.
When I turn the computer back on, I keep getting various messages. Mostly that windows explorer has stopped working, MOM.exe application error, Microsoft.NET app error, my virus protection app error, so on and so on. These messages all pop up around the sametime. Some are even file corruption messages. Once i'm able to run a disk scan all that goes away....for a few days and then it starts over again.
