View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 Ultimate on HP Pavilion DV2000 laptop.I found that some DVD's won't play on the machine. In My Computer folder, the F: drive does not change even if I insert a DVD. There is no issue about playing CDs and some DVDs. I found that the DVDs which refuse to get detected are mostly commercial DVDs.Is it an issue about DVD region? The drive is 'hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-t20l ata' and it was by default coded to Region 2 (though I live in Region 5 - India). I tried to change the region but I was not successful. I then installed region killer and now the default region is region 5. However, even this has failed to detect the DVD.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a SONY vaio vpcea16fg , and a windows 7 professional installed on it. I want to disable windows from auto detecting my built in usb 2.0 camera. I have disabled UPNP and SSDP services, but it doesn't work. I mean when I restart my machine in detects usb camera and install it again!
I want to disable my webcam auto detection, because there is a hardware problem with my built-in webcam and causes a blue screen error. When I move my laptop's lid, windows detect the camera and try to install it automatically, but after two or three times of detection a blue screen is occurred.
I recently took my internal hard drive and bought a casing for it and made it external. But when i connected it to my computer the disk management showed it as invalid dynamic. So i went online, read a bit about basic and dynamic and ways to convert the latter into former. I adopted the method of converting through changing "hex" using "HxD". Now when i changed the '47's to '07' , i got back my three partitions without any data loss one of which was system reserve. I do not know how to get the rest back. cannot loose the data. I have to get the other three back. Total no of partition =6 (including system reserve) No. of partitions recovered = 3 (including system reserve) No
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to disable all auto play, auto monitor detection, auto audio detection, ect. i want to tell windows that i have X amount of monitors and to always display on them, that i have 7.2 surround and to ALWAYS send audio out via HDMI. if i unplug the hdmi or a monitor i dont want windows to do jack i just want it to sit there and play/display to a component that is not plugged in. all this auto detection crap does is waste my time and cause issues with my day to day computing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use my home network to stream music and movies from my computers to my Xbox and TV. Now all of a sudden, nothing. Both computers are running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, connected online through wifi, and connected to the network homegroup (that works without any issues), but neither or them detect any of my media devices. I have a Sony Viera ST30 TV and an Xbox 360, both having wired connections to the same network that the computers are on. Features that require the internet on both work perfectly fine. And I have a viera app on my phone that I used to use to control my tv (the app may not be compatible with my phone). Even having sharing enabled on the computers, they just wont detect my TV or my Xbox. If I connect my laptop to the network via wired connection, my devices are found. If I connect to a friend's wireless network, their devices are found as well. There has been no change on either computer from the last time it was working, till now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my nVidia drivers to the latest and also my SiSandra Lite software (for quick access to accurate specs of my PC). After updating SiSandra Lite, I looked at the GPU section. As usual it loaded the primary monitor first where everything was fine. I then changed to look at my secondary and my primary monitor turned off and my desktop was shifted to my second. Now when I boot my computer, my primary comes on, but after the pre and post bios. Only when Grub comes on does something appear on my primary monitor, but it's very low resolution (compared to what it used to be). The windows 7 loading bar appears on my primary but before the logo can appear and glow, it swaps to my secondary monitor where it stays.
Windows 7 cannot detect my primary monitor trying both screen resolution detection and it's missing from the devices menu. Really confused about this whole business.I realise this may have been posted as a problem before. I did find little snippets of information about it but nothing sufficient.
I installed 7 with two monitors hooked up and turned on and it detected both of them just fine. But after the install when I boot to windows if both monitors aren't "on" when I boot it won't detect the second monitor when I turn it on. I have to boot with both monitors on for it to detect both of them.
I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this same problem?
i have connected my monitors via displayport to my computer. displayport is very nice, but it has one feature that is - in combination with windows vista/7 - very bad. displayport specification says that if a device (Monitor) will be turned off (standby) it will not be visible to the computer anymore. that is very annoying because windows has a routine which permanently checks if all monitors are still connected. if one monitor will be physicly disconnected, then windows will reorganize the desktop (all content that was on the disconnected screen will be moved to the others). if the monitor will be turned on again windows will move the windows back to the place where it has been before, but often it does not work correctly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThing is, that applications know your hardware somehow from somewhere. You get something like this in some games.Your CPU: C2Q6600 ~ 2.4GhzRAM: 2GBGPU: NV 6600Is there a way to block or alter this for applications? Either for worse or better? want to change this detection mechanism that reports your current hardware configuration to aplication.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, my sis's laptop got into a loop of continously detecting a Power Saving USB. The "sound" of detecting something being plugged into the laptop keeps ringing.
I checked under Devices and Printers and there's a Power Saving USB icon which keeps flashing on and off.
I am using HCL ME 74 series laptop with win 7 OS 32 bit. recently my OS crashed and I reinstalled the OS. surprisingly there are no netwrok controllers in my device anager. the network adpters give by HCL have been used. But the system is detecting the wifi networks all around but not connecting. The HCL ME series gives some funny buttons to press: set wifi enable -> Fn+F11, and bluetooth -> fn+F12 . both are enables.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been testing AVAST 4.2 fairly rigorously on both VISTA X-64 and Windows 7 7100 X-64.
Straight from the MS site I downloaded the .VHD Virtual disks (XP compatability mode)
AVAST reports that the .VHD file contains a "COMPRESSION BOMB". Now this doesn't actually tell me what this is -- but the fact that it reports something with the word BOMB in it means it can't be good.
Now as this VHD file was downloaded from the official Microsoft site I assume it HAS to be OK (or does it - I would imagine MS regularly checks its own websites - there's plenty of people out there who'd jump at a chance of attacking a MS site if they could).
I'm going to download the XP comparability mode again and have another scan.
VISTA again reports the file as CLEAN) so I think there still might be a couple of things AVAST need to fix in Windows 7 when reading compressed or "archive" type files.
My laptop crashed earlier while I was printing a document. After getting up and running again, I have been bombarded with one message that keeps appearing almost 10 minutes each time. It reads;
Interactive Services Detection:
"A program running on this computer is trying to display a message" involving
Message title: Windows Internet Explorer
Program path: C:Windowszsystem32IEFRAME.dll
When I view the message it takes me to a blank desktop with an internet explorer window prompting me to fill in a survey on my printer.
Since I have no time or interest in filling this out, what can I do to make Windows shut up on this matter? I have no idea if this is a malware related problem or not since scans are not showing up suspcicuous files.
I have this problem that interrupts when I do something on full screen (interruption on every few minutes)*FOcus lost to:Interactive Service Detection*It does not pop up any dialog, but just for a sec I can see something on my taskbar then disappear. After some research, I found that the service name that interrupts is UI0Detect.exe. I can stop the process in Task Manager, but it will show up after a while. And I checked on services.msc, the "Interactive Services Detection" has a manual startup type.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the MS Wireless Keyboard 1000 and MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 with my HP HDX 16t (dual core) notebook running Windows 7 x64.
I installed both Intellipoint 7.0 and Intellitype 7.0. About 50% of the time when I boot, the mouse driver fails ("This device cannot start"). I have to manually uninstall the driver and then search for new devices. It re-installs the driver and then the mouse works fine.
Windows update had 3 recent files--update to Intellitype and to Intellipoint I think. Also a MS Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver (USB), Driver ID = 20305405. It fails to install after many attempts. I've tried turning off all start-up programs without success. Error code 80070103. I think if this could get installed it would end my mouse driver problem. Any help?
