Disable USB 2.0 Camera Auto Detection In Windows 7?
Nov 10, 2012
I have a SONY vaio vpcea16fg , and a windows 7 professional installed on it. I want to disable windows from auto detecting my built in usb 2.0 camera. I have disabled UPNP and SSDP services, but it doesn't work. I mean when I restart my machine in detects usb camera and install it again!
I want to disable my webcam auto detection, because there is a hardware problem with my built-in webcam and causes a blue screen error. When I move my laptop's lid, windows detect the camera and try to install it automatically, but after two or three times of detection a blue screen is occurred.

I want to disable all auto play, auto monitor detection, auto audio detection, ect. i want to tell windows that i have X amount of monitors and to always display on them, that i have 7.2 surround and to ALWAYS send audio out via HDMI. if i unplug the hdmi or a monitor i dont want windows to do jack i just want it to sit there and play/display to a component that is not plugged in. all this auto detection crap does is waste my time and cause issues with my day to day computing.

When I plug in or unplug my external display to my laptop, my display options no longer automatically reconfigure as they used to do. Now if I unplug the monitor, Windows acts as if it's still there, and windows that were on the monitor stay offscreen (as does the cursor, if that's where it was). I can manually move the cursor back, right-click load graphics properties and make changes OR do an F-key combo to move everything back on the laptop screen OR program a hotkey but these are all pretty annoying for one reason or another. Unfortunately this must have started happening sometime in the last two weeks--at the same time as I made a load of major computer changes.
However this did NOT include a graphics driver change (my graphics driver is current). At this point I feel it could be anything, but I'm wondering if it could be a recent BIOS update I did that HP recommended. By way of troubleshooting I did run Windows in safe mode with ONLY the "ATI Catalyst" and "AMD External Events utility" running on top of the basic services, in case a newly installed service was stealing hotplugging messages, but that didn't do anything. I've also gone exhaustively through my graphics driver settings to make sure everything there looks correct.

Not sure if "focus" is the right term here, but anyway. I use "list" view almost exclusively so this may not be an issue with other views. But one of my beefs with Windows 7 is: if you're viewing a folder that has multiple rows of files or sub folders; then you click on of the the folders that's more to the right of the window and the entire contents of the window reorients itself so what you clicked on is now more towards the left area of the window. Know what I'm saying?
Here's a before and after of what I'm talking about.. Open Window...
Now I click on a file that's slightly out of view and it does this without me touching the slider at all.....

Upgraded from Windows XP to 7. When I plug the camera in, Windows Explorer "sees" it as "Canon Powershot A540" instead of "drive J:", so the Autoplay does not starteredThe LONG of it: Windows 7 won't recognize my camera as a drive, such as "drive J". Instead it sees it (in Windows Manager) as Canon Powershot A540, with subfolders "internal storage", and "external storage". Because of this, Autoplay doesn't come up when it is plugged in. My other camera, a Fuji A303, when plugged in, has the autoplay pop up, and is displayed as "drive J" in Windows Manager. If I take the SD card out of the Canon and put it in a USB card reader, the Autoplay pops up, and "sees" pictures, and Windows Manager calls the card Canon_DC (J A friend says the computer is seeing "plug and play" firmware in the Canon. Did I change something in the camera, or did some kind of software get on the SD card?

I have a new computer (Asus K53E) with Win 7 x64 - My camera is a Canon SD 750, and I'd like to use Photo Scape to work with my pics, not the Canon browser or the Windows Photo Gallery. So I've set my photos to import via Windows in Auto Play, and to auto delete afterward. The problem I'm seeing is that once the photos are imported into my computer and deleted from the camera, the little Windows pop up box that notifies me of the deleting process stays on the screen - it will not disappear until I either use Task Manager to stop it, or I reboot the computer. I really would like to continue using the simple and effective Windows process to import my camera's pics, and to continue using Photo Scape as my photo browser/editor.

I have two HP laptops and a Canon SX130is digital camera. I am not using Canon's camera software -- I just want to download photos. Both computers are running Windows 7-64. Both are Home Premium Versions. On my HP Envy, USB recognizes, the camera, AutoPlay opens so I can select my action and I can also browse the memory card in Windows Explorer. On my HP DM4, USB recognizes the camera, but no AutoPlay on any USB port. SD memory cards and flash drives open AutoPlay, so the issue is about the camera on one computer.I have checked the AutoPlay settings, run net start shellhwdetect and the results are the same.

AAM Updater plants itself in your Task Scheduler and your Startup to maintain this routine.Yet Adobe probably releases an update only every couple of months. If you try to delete those entries, the next time you start an Adobe Application, AAM Updater puts itself back into your Startup and Task scheduler. This stops it.[CODE]

If a window is moved above the screen so that parts are out of view, it is automatically resized to fit in view. Is there a way to disable this?
In Ease of Access Center, I checked "Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of screen," but that only stops it from maximizing.

Is there any way to disable the taskbar popup when you hover your mouse over the edge of the screen with auto-hide on? I still want to have it appear when I press the Windows key, but have that hotspot area somehow disabled. I've tried the app by Prisoner, but that disables the whole taskbar, leaving only the orb.I need this for a Tablet PC i'm customising - I find that when I want to press controls near the edged of the screen, I hit that bloody hotspot area and get the taskbar instead of what I've been aming for. Also, disabling the taskbar completely would not work, since I need the notification icons (battery meter etc.). The tablet has a dedicated Windows button... and nothing else in the way of physical controls.

I've looked absolutely everywhere I can think of and I can't find a way to disable auto-joining unknown networks. There has to be a way to do it, otherwise that would be a huge security flaw. When in range of my own router or any other access point I have saved, it's fine. However, When I take my laptop elsewhere, it automatically joins unprotected networks, which I don't want to happen

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on HP Pavilion DV2000 laptop.I found that some DVD's won't play on the machine. In My Computer folder, the F: drive does not change even if I insert a DVD. There is no issue about playing CDs and some DVDs. I found that the DVDs which refuse to get detected are mostly commercial DVDs.Is it an issue about DVD region? The drive is 'hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-t20l ata' and it was by default coded to Region 2 (though I live in Region 5 - India). I tried to change the region but I was not successful. I then installed region killer and now the default region is region 5. However, even this has failed to detect the DVD.

I recently took my internal hard drive and bought a casing for it and made it external. But when i connected it to my computer the disk management showed it as invalid dynamic. So i went online, read a bit about basic and dynamic and ways to convert the latter into former. I adopted the method of converting through changing "hex" using "HxD". Now when i changed the '47's to '07' , i got back my three partitions without any data loss one of which was system reserve. I do not know how to get the rest back. cannot loose the data. I have to get the other three back. Total no of partition =6 (including system reserve) No. of partitions recovered = 3 (including system reserve) No

I use my home network to stream music and movies from my computers to my Xbox and TV. Now all of a sudden, nothing. Both computers are running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, connected online through wifi, and connected to the network homegroup (that works without any issues), but neither or them detect any of my media devices. I have a Sony Viera ST30 TV and an Xbox 360, both having wired connections to the same network that the computers are on. Features that require the internet on both work perfectly fine. And I have a viera app on my phone that I used to use to control my tv (the app may not be compatible with my phone). Even having sharing enabled on the computers, they just wont detect my TV or my Xbox. If I connect my laptop to the network via wired connection, my devices are found. If I connect to a friend's wireless network, their devices are found as well. There has been no change on either computer from the last time it was working, till now.

I bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.

I recently updated my nVidia drivers to the latest and also my SiSandra Lite software (for quick access to accurate specs of my PC). After updating SiSandra Lite, I looked at the GPU section. As usual it loaded the primary monitor first where everything was fine. I then changed to look at my secondary and my primary monitor turned off and my desktop was shifted to my second. Now when I boot my computer, my primary comes on, but after the pre and post bios. Only when Grub comes on does something appear on my primary monitor, but it's very low resolution (compared to what it used to be). The windows 7 loading bar appears on my primary but before the logo can appear and glow, it swaps to my secondary monitor where it stays.
Windows 7 cannot detect my primary monitor trying both screen resolution detection and it's missing from the devices menu. Really confused about this whole business.I realise this may have been posted as a problem before. I did find little snippets of information about it but nothing sufficient.

I installed 7 with two monitors hooked up and turned on and it detected both of them just fine. But after the install when I boot to windows if both monitors aren't "on" when I boot it won't detect the second monitor when I turn it on. I have to boot with both monitors on for it to detect both of them.
I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this same problem?

i have connected my monitors via displayport to my computer. displayport is very nice, but it has one feature that is - in combination with windows vista/7 - very bad. displayport specification says that if a device (Monitor) will be turned off (standby) it will not be visible to the computer anymore. that is very annoying because windows has a routine which permanently checks if all monitors are still connected. if one monitor will be physicly disconnected, then windows will reorganize the desktop (all content that was on the disconnected screen will be moved to the others). if the monitor will be turned on again windows will move the windows back to the place where it has been before, but often it does not work correctly.
