450+ Errors In Memtest With Both Sticks / Now Running 1 Stick
Apr 16, 2012
I have been getting BSODs for awhile now unfortunately. At first I thought it was my power supply not supplying enough power anymore because it's 2+ years old and has been through many builds.Well, I ran Memtest last night just to be sure, and after waking up 8 hours later, Memtest had reported over 450+ errors, this was with BOTH ram sticks inserted / being tested. My timings were set as they should be (9-9-9-24-2t command rate and 1.5v DRAM voltage).I'm currently testing 1 stick at a time to see if the errors pop up on one stick only. Now, in the BIOS, I have the timings set to 9-9-9-24-2t command rate, 1.5v DRAM voltage, but in Memtest it says: CAS: 6-6-6-20 / Single Channel (when testing one stick only)
I have a laptop Acer Aspire 7720G, with Win 7 RTM installed from original ISO ( by zuko.. ) to try it before purchase..but it randomly freezes for 30-40 secs : (
Mouse can move, keyboard works but if I try to open folders or other, they don't
I thought it could be a RAM problem, so I run a memtest.. but no errors..
Now dunno what to do xD I've reinstalled 2 times but there are always freezes..what can be the problem? maybe a bad ISO? or a bad burn?
I have been getting what appears to be random BSOD. However, most times it has been whilst using IE Explorer (ver 8.0 ). I have an Asus G53SW Win 7 64bit 16Gb RAM. All updates have been installed and I believe all drivers are latest version. About 3 weeks ago the HDD had bad sectors and I had it replaced. I had a Crucial M4 128Gb SSD installed and an additional 8Gb of memory. I have run memtest (8 passes) and there were no errors. I have run HD Pro and there are no errors on the HDD. Attached herewith dump files and event logs. I have also attached a sys info file.
how do I prevent users from running executabels from usb sticks? I do want them to save and read files from the usb sticks, but not any executable files such as bat, exe, vbs etc.
I have ran western digitals lifeguard tools and they keep giving the error 06-Quick Test on drive 1 did not complete!
"Status code = 07 (Failed read test element), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test) SMART self-test did not complete on drive 1!"
I also get blue screen when I run the extended test, or run a chkdsk. HD tune pro tells me that there are 1461 pending sectors and 1455 uncorrectable errors. Is this bad? 1464 pending sectors on my HD but 0 reallocated.
I am trying to load/run Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I was able to load it and move over my pst files from my old machine but every time I open outlook I get an ( outlook.exe error - no hard drive).
My laptop is BSOD'ing at random times and seems to throw up different reasons. The most popular seems to be Memory Management & Driver IRQL Equal or Less errors. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5750 Running windows 7 64bit.
First off my power supply went out. It was a 450watt one I ordered and replaced it with a 750watt power supply. After I replaced the power supply, my computer would not boot, When the power supply went out it was in the middle of updating windows. So I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of windows, reloaded all my drivers and extra programs. At that point my computer was running great.
I decided to uninstall Bing tool bar, and windows live sign in assistant. it prompted my to reboot. When I rebooted the computer, after about 30 minutes it still had not come up to the desktop, I could boot up in safe mode and it would run fine. I did a system restore, no change, I did a start up repair, no change, Tested the memory it came back fine.
At that point and reformatted the hard drive again, I had another hard drive formatted it and put the install CD in and after 8 hours it is still trying to install Windows 7, No errors just really really slow. So I have replaced the power supply, hard drive, and ran a memory test with no errors, done a clean install of windows. Running Windows 7 64 bit, 4 gig of Ram, 2.8 dual core processor, 1 gig video card, 500 gig hard drive.
My Information Bar is not showing, so I can't activate the ActiveX Control (I tried to do a Windows Update today and the computer will not do same without the ActiveX Control, which I can't get because there is no Information Bar to make that possible). How do I get the Information Bar to show up on my IE 8 screen (I understand that it should be right under the Address Window)? I think that, when Microsoft installed IE 8 for me a short time ago during an automatic update procedure, even though I had not asked for that to be done, that is when the Information Bar disappeared. I'm just guessing at that, but I think that is when that happened
I am trying to diagnose a problem with my machine, and in so doing I have run memtest overnight (to test all 8GB of RAM--which takes about 12 hours). However, I've read various places that memtest is only reliable testing one stick at a time (I have 4x2GB). I didn't get any errors in 7 passes with all memory in. Does this mean that I'm fine, or should I go back and test each individually?
My laptop advent won't boot. Start up repair wont work, even a system repair cd wont fully load. Only thing i can get to is launch repair your computer, and the only thing that works there is command prompt.
Tried fixboot & fixmbr... They worked but rebuildbcd never finishes.
If I place a single 4GB stick in my machine and run memtest, I see it's testing only 3.7GB. I assume this is the PCI memory map taking 0.3GB. Does this mean I'm not actually testing all the memory or am I missing something?
I have three ram sticks. One, I had replaced because it had been scanned as being faulty. After a while I began to have the same problems as when I still had the ram stick, so I I took out one to see how it worked, and it was fine, so I assumed the one I had taken out was faulty as well, but later I found it to be a little suspicious, so I tested the second bad one in the slot that my good one had been in and it worked. Then I tried the good one in the slot that the bad ones had been in and that's when I had a problem, so it appears my ram stick slot is the problem. Is there a way to find real proof ?
I've got 2 new sticks of ram from a friend for free. These are the two sticks Newegg.com - A-DATA Gaming Series 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-CG The sticks i currently have are this Newegg.com - A-DATA XPG Gaming Series v2.0 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-DG2 I know you shouldn't mix ram but the sticks are almost identical will there be issues if I run two of reach in one machine?
About 3 weeks ago I put 4 2gb sticks of RAM in my machine. Got them from Crucial.com. (I'd had 2gbs before but took those out and gave them away so the 4 new ones would all match.) So here I am with 8gbs and it was fabulous. Right off the bat not only my CS4 but also my Photoshop7 both recognized the 8gbs and everything just flew.
Then a few days ago I noticed that PS7 was sluggish and, sure enough, when I checked I saw that it was only seeing 2gbs again. I know PS7 isn't even supposed to see it but it did and it was great.
The CS4 is still fine but I just don't like it as well as 7, call me crazy but there it is.
Does anybody know how I can get 7 to see the 8gbs again. I have no problem going into the registry but have no clue where to go. I have spent days searching for an answer but haven't found it.
I did a fresh install of Win 7 Pro 64 bit a few days ago. Everything seemed ok and there were no hiccups during the install. My problem is when I plug in a USB stick, it doesn't show up in "my computer". First I thought it a bad stick, but I have tried 3 and none work. When I plug it in, I hear the new hardware noise and window pops up saying found new hardware, but then it fails to load it. Device manager accurately names the stick, but windows can't find a driver for it.All my other USB devices work: mouse, keyboard, 2 printers, digital camera, just not USB storage sticks.
I initially fixed my first string of BSODs due to my ram sticks being in the wrongs slots. That fixed it for about 3 months. But I just recently bought a new video card. GeForce GTX560ti. My older card being ati radeon 4850. I updated my drivers the other night to a beta driver for the Battlefield 3 beta. That is when I noticed 2 BSODs in 1 day. I'm attaching my mini dump folder in hopes that maybe I can find some technical support as I am not the most knowledgeable on computers
I've been getting BSODs ever since I installed a RAM stick which differed from the other in my Inspiron 1420. I had to install a new one since the other no longer worked. The two RAM sticks differ from each other as I don't believe they are the same brand.
One is by PNY Electronics at 2048 megabytes with a bandwidth of 400MHz The other is by Hyundai Electronics at 1024 megabytes with a bandwidth of 333 MHz. They are both DDR2. I'm just wondering if this could be the cause of the BSODs I've been getting. The most recent BSODs are the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the driver ntoskrnl.exe and the number 0x0000000a.
I've heard that if you can identify the driver then there could be an option of disabling or uninstalling that driver to stop the BSODs.
I generally have pretty long File names on files on my pc. Not sure what the limit in digits is, but generally no problem. But, if I try to download many of these with a particularly long file name to a USB memory stick, it comes back with an error MSG. That the name is too long. But, it wasn't too long on my pc. Why is this happening ?
I have been unable to get Windows to accept a memory upgrade. I want to increase my memory from 4Gig to 8Gig (ie 2 sticks of 2Gig, to 4 sticks of 2 Gig). Windows hangs with all 4 sticks installed, but boots normally with only 3 sticks installed ?
It seems that the BIOS is happy to accept 4 sticks x 2Gig ... but Windows hangs: With all 4 sticks installed The BIOS will boot and the Windows boot screen appears (the four star animation) ... and then the system hangs !
By a process of elimination, I have been able to deduce that none of the individual sticks, or the individual slots are faulty: I can use any combination of 3 sticks in any combination of the four available slots, and it will boot OK and show 12 Gig of memory available.
I have checked that all 4 memory sticks are identical (Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz DDR3), and I have downloaded and installed the latest BIOS ... but the problem persists.
I note that the 2 original memory sticks are labelled V.2.12 and the second pair are labelled V.3.19, but I also note that they are happy running together as long as I only use 3 sticks (any 3 sticks !). The problem only arises when I try to use all 4 !
Mouse keeps sticking in margins. Cant get out of it. Windows 7. Red light coming on at top of mouse pad and an icon on screen with a hand and red diagonal line through it.
trying to solve a problem on a dell inspiron n5010 running windows 7 when you switch it on it goes to the black boot up screen and you are given these options Launch startup repair(recomended) start windows normally
if i select start windows normally it goes to the windows start up logo but eventually freezes then crash to a blue screen than goes off immediatley before i can read the info on screen if i select the launch start up repair it goes to a blue screen with some small pics of leaves on and stays there and does nothing
Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery i have read this but i dont even get the grey option boxes just that blue screen background
When I move an object on my desktop (file, window etcetera) the mouse pointer 'sticks' to the object and has to be clicked to release it. I've looked settings but haven't seen a setting that would resolve this.
I just got a brand new mobo, AsRock h55M-LE. I got KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL9 XMP memory sticks. When I try to boot up with one stick which is in slot DDR-B, the comp works. If I put another stick in DDR-A, comp boots up for 5-7 seconds and reboots. I use only one stick in DDR-A it's gonna be same error. So atm only DDR-B with one stick works.I tried to change timings and voltage in BIOS and result was this:9-9-9-27, dram volt 1,65, vtt auto and both sticks in boots up for 5-7 secs and reboots (there's no pic in monitor etc)9-9-9-27, dram volt 1,65, vtt auto and one stick in everything works.9-9-9-25, dram volt 1.5, vtt auto and two sticks in comp boots and stays on but there is no pic in monitor or any light on keyboard etc..9-9-9-25, dram volt 1.5, vtt auto and one stick in everything works. And also tried to change dram frequence but it's the same with all.I have tried both sticks and they both work.
Twitter not displaying correctly, fonts are all garbled like sticks. I have tried in firefox, IE9 and Chrome. It is unreadable in all browsers and I cannot find a fix anywhere. For Character Encoding I have all browsers set to Unicode (UTF-8) as do not recall ever changing them to anything else or seeing this problem before. All other sites show correctly. So I really am stumped. If you need my twitter page or could go see if it looks normal on your computer the address is Robbo (@aussiecriminals) on Twitter?
