Windows 7 Update Not Working, ActiveX Not Running, Cryptographic Errors?
May 24, 2012
My Information Bar is not showing, so I can't activate the ActiveX Control (I tried to do a Windows Update today and the computer will not do same without the ActiveX Control, which I can't get because there is no Information Bar to make that possible). How do I get the Information Bar to show up on my IE 8 screen (I understand that it should be right under the Address Window)? I think that, when Microsoft installed IE 8 for me a short time ago during an automatic update procedure, even though I had not asked for that to be done, that is when the Information Bar disappeared. I'm just guessing at that, but I think that is when that happened
Iam using windows 7, Core I5! X64 based notebook pc! Today i downloaded IE9, when i run the setup, i get a error ' cryptographic service not running, please check events log.' But cryptographic is running.

I am trying to load/run Outlook 2003 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I was able to load it and move over my pst files from my old machine but every time I open outlook I get an ( outlook.exe error - no hard drive).
I have searched everywhere but I have been unable to find anyone having the same problems as I. I am running 64bit windows 7.I have been trying to get the computer to updates, though when I reboot it fails to configure the updates, gets to 35% and always fails with error code 80071AB0. After searching Microsoft Support, some people recommended running sfc.exe to scan for corrupted files, then to fix them and reboot. Well, I found no corrupted files on the drive hence there was nothing to fix. Also, I have tried to download the Microsoft Fix-It and run it, though that is to no avail as well. I have attempted to preform a clean boot with my anti-virus disabled to rule out a software problem and that also didn't change anything. When I open Windows Updates and attempt to install them, I get an 80070643 error.I also get these same errors when trying to install the updates from a downloaded file.
My laptop is BSOD'ing at random times and seems to throw up different reasons. The most popular seems to be Memory Management & Driver IRQL Equal or Less errors. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5750 Running windows 7 64bit.
First off my power supply went out. It was a 450watt one I ordered and replaced it with a 750watt power supply. After I replaced the power supply, my computer would not boot, When the power supply went out it was in the middle of updating windows. So I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of windows, reloaded all my drivers and extra programs. At that point my computer was running great.
I decided to uninstall Bing tool bar, and windows live sign in assistant. it prompted my to reboot. When I rebooted the computer, after about 30 minutes it still had not come up to the desktop, I could boot up in safe mode and it would run fine. I did a system restore, no change, I did a start up repair, no change, Tested the memory it came back fine.
At that point and reformatted the hard drive again, I had another hard drive formatted it and put the install CD in and after 8 hours it is still trying to install Windows 7, No errors just really really slow. So I have replaced the power supply, hard drive, and ran a memory test with no errors, done a clean install of windows. Running Windows 7 64 bit, 4 gig of Ram, 2.8 dual core processor, 1 gig video card, 500 gig hard drive.
I installed a lot of updates yesterday, except DotNet 3.5 SP1 and Windows 7 SP1, because WU gives me the following errors when I try to install such updates:
800B0100 80073712
I already tried the Update Readiness Tool and nothing.
I have been getting BSODs for awhile now unfortunately. At first I thought it was my power supply not supplying enough power anymore because it's 2+ years old and has been through many builds.Well, I ran Memtest last night just to be sure, and after waking up 8 hours later, Memtest had reported over 450+ errors, this was with BOTH ram sticks inserted / being tested. My timings were set as they should be (9-9-9-24-2t command rate and 1.5v DRAM voltage).I'm currently testing 1 stick at a time to see if the errors pop up on one stick only. Now, in the BIOS, I have the timings set to 9-9-9-24-2t command rate, 1.5v DRAM voltage, but in Memtest it says: CAS: 6-6-6-20 / Single Channel (when testing one stick only)
I have ran western digitals lifeguard tools and they keep giving the error 06-Quick Test on drive 1 did not complete!
"Status code = 07 (Failed read test element), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test) SMART self-test did not complete on drive 1!"
I also get blue screen when I run the extended test, or run a chkdsk. HD tune pro tells me that there are 1461 pending sectors and 1455 uncorrectable errors. Is this bad? 1464 pending sectors on my HD but 0 reallocated.
For reasons I won't go into, I had problems with my Win7 Premium upgrade over Vista Basic. So I did a clean install. There are a few quirky things now, the most irritating being the inability to use ActiveX controls from Web sites (i.e., running a PC Pit Stop scan). There are postings all over the place, so I know I'm not the only one. I have rejiggered every conceivable setting under custom settings in IE8, and it just doesn't work. No controls come up, no prompts?
Whenever I try to run Windows Update it comes up with a dialogue box that says "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." I believe my computer is Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I've tried a lot of the fixes that have been posted, but none of them worked. I tried running an SFC (I think that's what it was called, sorry I'm not very computer smart), rebooting my computer, and doing a system restoreAlso, Windows Update doesn't show in services.msc. I saw one post that said something to do with Windows Security Center can make Windows Update do this, but my Windows Security Center doesn't work either. Whenever I try to turn it on, it says "The Windows Security Center service can't be started." Windows Security Center is also not in services.msc for me. I know that Windows Update worked 2 months ago, but that was the last time I tried using it
I've recently purchased an upgrade CD from xp to windows 7 after making sure I had all the criteria right. I followed the steps to the letter but when I tried exctracting the old files I got an error message saying "This version of updateupdate.exe in not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." There's even a warning message at the bottom right corner sating my Windows copy isn't genuine though I bought this and the previous one at a real store.
I'm encountering an extremely strange issue on my desktop. I keep getting SSL errors when ever I try to go to google.com, gmail.com or dozens of other sites on google chrome. The exact error is "The site's security certificate is signed using a weak signature algorithm". I can't reach the site at all.Windows Update service is also not running and doesn't even show up in "services.msc". I get this error "Windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer". Obviously restarting doesn't help. I also got a similar error for Microsoft Security Essentials, and it wouldn't run at all so I uninstalled it.MSI Afterburner also gives me an error when I start it up about how I need to restart to properly detect my hard ware, but I didn't do that before and I tried restarting with that as well.I've run many, many, scans to detect trojans, viruses, and spyware using AVG Free, Spybot Search and Destroy, Malware Bytes, Spyware Doctor, Kapernsky's Rootkit tool. AVG, and Malware Bytes both turned up and deleted some basic malware & spyware. The others can't detect anything.
I need to allow an ActiveX (.cab) add on so I can remotely view my home security DVR.Windows will not allow me to install this add on because the publisher is unknown.I am running Windows 7 home premium whch unfortunately does not have group settings.I think I need to edit the registry in some way to allow this add on but I have not been able to figure it out.How can I configure Windows 7 Home premium to allow ActiveX?
I have a problem with my Windows Services. Each time when I launch Windows Services window, I get a warning:One or more activex controls could not be displayed because either:
1. your current security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page, or
2. you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.as a result, the page may not display correctly.
The warning pop-up opens only when I click on Extended tab.The problem has nothing to do with IE security, because I can open pages with ActiveX controls on them and so.I have installed Spybot spyware/malware removal tool. Then uninstalled it.I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem. But I presume it is.
My PC works great most of the time. But...I wanted to install ASUS Smart Doctor on my PC and I get the error "GPU not detected" ! I have updated and cleaned and reinstalled my Graphics driver many times. When I check my "device mannager" it tells me my Graphics Card is installed and working properly ! So which is it ?I can ignore all this and go on about my bussiness, but like today, I got a BSOD because I tried to watch a video using the wrong player. It restarts fine and I can watch any movie I have on this PC, which is a lot.
How do I stop Internet Explorer telling me that it has 'restricted this page from running scripts or activex controls', the only option it gives me is to 'allow blocked content' and when I click on it ,it reloads the web page and puts up the same popup message again.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, I just got my laptop a few weeks ago and noticed today that windows update isn't running.when I click on windows update i'm prompted with a message saying that the service isn't started and to reset my system, however when i check my services it tells me what windows update is started and set to automatic
2 days ago I uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials from my pc. Yesterday I update my Firefox from v. 14.0.1 to v.15.0, since then firefox won't run on this pc. I tried downgrading it to version 14 but it wont work. Here's the error msg: Code: Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:AppHangB1 Application Name:firefox.exe Application Version:15.0.0.4619
I am running windows 7 Home premium on a Samsung laptop 64bit , 3.00 GB ram dual core CPU T4500. I had to send computer to be repaired under warranty and the hard disk was replaced. after this repair, I was trying start a game software and this would not run because it said that D3DX9_45.dll was mising in my computer. I have tried the DirectX upgrade and it starts loading ok, but at the end of the installation an error comes up saying that Direct could not be installed. I have also found that the windows update is not working because the service is not running. I have looked in the service data and the Windows update is running.
i've been unable to do a windows update, it simply doesn't start and gives me an error message. When I tried SFC/SCANNOW in the command prompt, the scan completed and I got:Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files, but was unable to fix some of them. So that's about where I got to.
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I have done a system backup of my portable and restored it to a larger hard disk. Everything is working OK except for Windows Update. When I try to run Windows Update I get a task isn't running message - Unknown Error 8024A000. I have replaced the old hard disk and Windows Update works just fine.
I have Asus eee PC since 2010 with Win 7 and never had any problem. I was working on my laptop without any problem. But for last couple of hours I am not able to connect to my wireless network. It doesn't show any network. It only shows the message "Not connected. No connections available". I have internet service through out the house. Wireless is also working on my IPod, IPad and IPhone. I have desktop connected with network wire and internet is working just fine. When I connect my EEE with network cable, everything is working as expected. Only wireless is not working.
I already tried the following: 1. Restarted my eee pc 2. Restarted wireless router (doing this before, would remove any problem but not this time) 3. Tried clicking Fn + F2 buttons
Also, few minutes back my machine was updated with automatic update of Win 7 SP1. Nothing is working.. I don't know what happened. It is so frustrating to see things stop working without any valid reason.
I have a problem with my windows updates. For some reason the windows update center is not working and my last update was on 16/9. I get a message to restart but nothing happens.I've already tried sfc/scannow, fix it, windows troubleshooting, fixit50123 and Fixit 50202 but the problem still remains. Somebody told me that cleanup registry that tune up maintenance is using propably causes the problem but don't know how to reverse the clean up
I recently did the update they windows 7 prompted me to do and now nothing seems to be working properly.- gadgets not loading ( blue square with !)- Skype not working, tried uninstalling, reinstalling,etc-Internet explorer problems- can not get to my email through my desktop and when I use Mozilla it won't let me update to the newest version.-computer running slow- cannot open some programs
