I seem to be having crashes on my laptop as of recent, but the patterns they follow are very strange. It's almost like i'm getting a BSOD while it being used, but instead the screen just go black and all power cuts. It then reboots and starts up as usual. As far as I can tell there is no conflicting software causing this, and it happens without any pattern. Since there is no Blue Screen, I cannot give a dump file. However, on the even viewer, I see an event labeled under the critical category. Now this seems like the CPU or other internal component is overheating, But when i look at HWMonitor Pro, the CPU stays under a steady 84C under load and 60C idle. This happens in a range of occasions such as rendering videos with Handbrake to simply browsing the web. I will say this, I recently swapped out my RAM cards because the OEM one's were causing BSOD's about a month ago. If you'd like more specific information on the laptop, visit my old thread.
My girlfriends laptop (my old laptop) is an HP Pavilion dv3-2310ea. It's recently started cutting out (completely turns off as though the battery has been pulled) when in use, but now it's got so bad i can't even get passed the windows startup, and when it does it's near 2mins before it cuts out again. I'm trying to run a bios update but it won't stay on long enough for me to get anywhere with it.
The power options settings in the first option shows a strange language...I dont know exactly what it is. Can anyone explain to me this and how i can change it to normal?
My pc performance decreased since i accidentally switch off my power supply without shutting down my pc. The next day i swtiched on my pc, I go to fb its hang, funshion not responding itune msn recycle bin take a long long time to run.
I am not playing a game my computer runs fine for hours this Critical Error only occurs when I'm running a game usually after few minutes. Most solutions suggested reinstalling audio driver/making sure there is only one. Well I only have one, it's up to date with one audio device running and was reinstalled a couple of days ago. I'm not yet sure if it occurs in every game which I am checking now so far I've experienced shutdown while playing Just Cause 2 and Metro 2033. Critical error is always the same and always a shutdown even though Restart On System Failure is unchecked. [code]
Also attached is my dxdiag.I've ran RAM diagnostic and it found no faults after 13~ thorough checks. I will try reinstalling audio driver again as well as check whether all of my games trigger this error. I did run the System file checker from CMD cannot quite remember the command now and it showed returned no faults. So far only Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2 have caused this error.Just noticed I have missed a latest video card driver. Will attempt to try again after updating that.
I have sony VPCF1 laptop, which worked fine until a month ago. Windows 7 home premium 64bits. All of a sudden I started getting random shutdowns whenever I'm playing games. (namely Diablo3 and league of legends)I used to play Skyrim on this laptop without any shutdown issues. I suspected overheating problem, but the speedfan log just before the shutdown shows GPU at 80 C and CPU at around 75.I cleaned out the heat sink and re-applied thermal paste anyways. However, I clean the dust in heat sink every 3 months so there wasn't much to begin with. I also bought a cooling pad, which doesn't seem to lower the temperature at all. I checked the hardwares using vaio care none of them showed known issues.

I would get a random black screen while playing an online game on my laptop (this happens randomly but usually 15-30mins after starting Windows and start playing the game). After the black screen appeared, it would automatically reboot to this windows error recovery page with options to go into safe mode (networking/command prompt) or just boot windows normally.I chose to boot Windows normally but after getting into Windows 7 and started playing a while, a random BSOD would appear. It has happened for 2-3 days straight. The attached is the mini dump.
Note: I did not install anything new to my laptop, I have ran chkdsk and sfc /scannow and found nothing.I have no idea what caused the black screen and the BSOD.
Over the past 2 years my PC has been afflicted with random power off/power on/reboot events. It will go for months without these and then have multiples of the events in a day. (I had 8 of them 3 days ago.)I assume I have a hardware problem, but nothing has been found and I'm grasping at straws. The time between power off and power on is several seconds.I had assumed this rules out a software cause, but maybe I'm wrong. I know Windows can schedule a power off, but can it tell BIOS (or something) to power back on in a few seconds?I know blaming the power supply is a much more simple explanation, but then I'm left with explaining the intermittent nature of the failure.
i have a system which i got 1 month ago and it was stable and good till recently i started getting BSOD at random times , i tried to update my bios as most were saying but i couldnt because whenever i click on bios update utilite i get black screen! with no respond (i tried the updating from bios not windows Asus dont offer bios update from inside windows ) however . i noticed i get this bluescreen often when playing shogun 2 but in general i still get BSOD when doing other stuff at random times (ex: other games/work on office package) also sometimes when i play other games i either get BSOD or a sudden system lag where everything stops with a noisy sound coming from my speaker.
btw : in my BSOD i get the famous physical memory dump 100% line at the bottom and i also updated my graphics drivers and rolled back to the old stable one but with no use
My girlfriends laptop keeps getting strange shortcuts on the desktop that we/she did not want or put there.. They are just plain folder looking shortcuts and have odd names like ")." or "))/.."or ".))" ...I cant remember the names exactly but they are similar to that. We delete them and they come back in a few days. I've run the virus scans and malwarebytes scans and found nothing...
Just upgraded from a WRT54G to a wireless gateway, CiscoDCP3825.I'm using.Wired Desktop, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, name: Cyclone.Wireless Laptop, Windows 7 Home premium, name: Tsunami.Xbox 360 wireless.Laptop & Desktop are unable to connect to a homegroup. If I make it on the desktop, the laptop will not connect and vice versa. However, using sharing settings I am able to share between them still. I can access whatever through traditional means. The major problem however, is that only the laptop sees the Xbox, and the Xbox can see neither.[URL]...
Windows 7 home premium pretty sure it is an X64 Randomly shuts OFF not DOWN, then when upon restart (manually pushing the power button) it opens like normal put my login password in and it opens fine then reopens the last program running automatically.
2 days ago my laptop just shut off. Battery was not dead, it was plugged in the the adapter. I have a temp monitor and it did not overheat either. When I turned it back on my desktop looked like this:All of my icons, on the desktop and in my folders look like that. I did a thorough virus and malware scan and nothing came up.
my acer 7520 laptop shut down suddenly last week with a bluescreen and a line of figures and letters, yesterday it shut down once suddenly switching itself off and tonight just keeps shutting down after about three minutes, this is the longest its stayed on whilst I discovered this site and typed this mail
From many days the battery icon is missing from the taskbar, the notification icon is greyed out even if the laptop is not on AC. i followed the the tutorial System Icons - Enable or Disable but nothing happened.
For the past two months I've been having a series of seemingly random BSODs. I haven't exactly been keeping track of the error codes as of late, but I know I've seen 3 different ones in the past week or so. I believe after posting this I'll edit and update with the codes I get, but I can't offer much help now.As for the scenario, this mostly happens when I'm playing a game for a while; or when viewing full screen video for extended periods of time. The computer restarts, I boot Windows normally, and I'm greeted with a Windows Recovered from a Critical Event or something like that. When I click find solution, it searches for a while and replies that there are no fixes. It might just be me but I feel like it happens more often when the room temp is higher, and when I hear the fans spinning more. I'm thinking it's either overheating or my PSU isn't up to par with the rest of my system.I checked event viewer and I've got 17 occurrences of this in the past 2 months. I'm really worried my components might start to feel the effects of this if they haven't already. The only thing I've been able to find on the net with some substance is this, but I haven't been able to really find use for this as the directions aren't very clear.[url]...If it helps more to see the individual events in friendly or XML view just let me know and I'll post them, I just don't want to spam up a thread with a bunch of garble if it's not necessary.
I've got randomly occouring BSODs on my Dell XPS 9000. The BSOD is always a driver power state failure. My system is ~3 years old. Running a 2 year old Win 7 Ultimate x64 image.
i5 2400 Asus P8H61-M-LE USB3 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM Asus GTX560 Kingston SSD 64GB 320 GB WD Blue Corsair HX620 PSU
All parts are new except: SSD, HDD, and PSU.
PC would reboot itself randomly and the event viewer says kernel-power event 41 task 63. My biggest hunch is the PSU because there was one time just after I built the PC, it would not turn on when power button was pressed. MOBO status light was lit. Tried shorting out the actual power pins on the MOBO but still did not turn it on. It would also sometimes turn on then off then on again by itself.
Also whenever I'm in CMOS setup, the various voltages seem to be unstable, it would go up and down by +/- .002 or something like that.
Because of those two points plus the PSU is already used and old (was prev used in a server which ran 24/7) I reckon it's the PSU. But before I go buying a new PSU, I thought I'd get your opinions.
My daughter has a Hp laptop and it was working fine, but the screen was coming apart. so my husband put it back together, Now it will not come on. It's getting some power but not coming on at the power button. The lights flashes when you push the button then nothing.
My computer gets at least ONCE BSOD every time I turn it on after a long period of shutdown. It also sometimes randomly just shuts off or give me additional BSODs. It has got to the point that I can't even load to windows recently, which lead me to reformat my computer. I know the drivers here are not the latest ones, I am trying to use only the drivers from the CDs that came with the hardwares because the last time I used all the latest ones it still caused BSODs. I am not sure what other information I need to post up.
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - fresh reformat ASUS M4A77TD Pro AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9Ghz Socket AM3 95W Crucial 4GB DDR3-1333 (PC 10600) MT16JTF51264AZ-1G4H1 (It's a 2x 4GB set, but I'm just using once at the moment to filter out problems) SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4850 1GB 156-bit GDDR3 Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM SATA Antec Trupower 650W
I have not been able to play SWTOR MMO. During gameplay my PC will shutdown then restart to the safe mode menu. It happens randomly 2 to 8 minutes into gameplay. Currently this happens with this game only. I do not know much about computers but I noticed the event viewer says kernel-power event 41. The PC is brand new month old. I a little frustated because I do not know what to do?
I have windows 7 64 bit, OEM, original. System is only 9 months old. Problems only started recently, has made playing any game for longer than 45 minutes virtually impossible. Drivers are up to date as of this post.
When I boot my PC from cold or when it reboots my Ethernet connection isn't enabled and in order to get access to the internet I have to disable it (so it's grayed out) and re-enable it. I've tried Unchecking the box 'Allow this computer to turn this device off to save power' but that didn't fix the problem.
I have Foxconn Blackops X48 board with 2 Broadcom Ethernet ports. I've tried all manner of different drivers in to try and get this work (since I have two ports I've tried August drivers on one and June drivers on the other) but this didn't solve the problem.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit. Not sure exactly what sound card I have, just says RealTek High Definition Audio on my Sound Devices list beside my headset. This headset is only about a year old, doesn't seem to have a model number, it's just a USB device with a mic attached. It only started doing this today. I plug it in, sound plays fine for anywhere from 30 mins to a couple hours then the sound completely cuts out and I have to replug it back in, it plays fine again till it decides to cut out again.
Ever since I got my Dell Inspiron 15r a few months ago I've been getting random blue screens of death, about every 1-2 weeks.I've tried using Google to find a solution but I can't seem to find the right one for my situation, so I came here. They do NOT happen when I boot up the computer. Usually it's when I close the display, I'll leave it on and later find it with the blue screen.I got BlueScreenView so I have a few details available. It's always "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" and caused by ntoskrnl.exe+8207a
I'm reinstalling Windows 7 onto my 32GB OCZ SSD boot drive. In addition to that drive, I have a 1TB media drive and a 1TB drive that holds my user files as well as all my programs. I can't seem to figure out how to ensure that all the short cuts for the programs and data for the user file will run smoothly on the fresh install. Is there anything I should do before nuking the SSD and anything additional that I should do after the install or just treat it like a fresh SSD/HDD install but use the already existing user data? tl/dr: Reinstall windows on boot drive (SSD) and retain users folder/program files on separate HDD? edit: creating a clone image and using that won't work here, the actual OS files are bad
My laptop was working fine until recently when I installed a new SSD (I used an optical bay caddy). The SSD works fine, and actually everything is fine except for the fact that after I shut down the computer it does not power off automatically (I have to hold down the power button for a few seconds). However, when I start it again,Windows does not complain about not being shut down properly, so I guess that it manages to do so, it's just that the power is not cut off. I should also say that neither restart, hibernate or sleep work. The result is the same, with the mention that for hibernate and sleep Windows does complain when rebooted (which is natural for sleep but I don't understand why it happens for hibernate).
The problem starts during the Windows installation, when it gets stuck on reboot. However, I can power it off manually and start it again and it all goeswell. should also say that:- I use Windows 7 64bit with SP1- the laptop is an ASUS K53SC- the SSD is a Corsair Force 3 60GBThe things I have tried so far are- I tried a different version of Windows 7 (on 32-bit)- I tried updating the BIOS (turns out I had the latest version)- I tried disabling the SSD or uninstalling its driver from device manager- I tried disabling all devices that could be disabled from device manager- I tried closing all services before shut down (from task manager)- I tried selective boot (from msconfig) with all services disabled
I made my Windows 7 64-bit laptop my new desktop.I put all the peripherals to the laptop; monitor, keyboard, speakers, etc, etc.Everything works fine.I am able to restart & shut down the laptop from the added monitor(start menu), however, I'm not able to power it back on from a complete shut down from the 2nd keyboard. I have read there is a way to do this. Right now, I must go into the laptop and toggle the on/off key.My question, is there a way to add a turn-on key(power on) to the 2nd keyboard? And if so, which key would be most appropriate for this?
