Get Second Computer Hooked Up To The Internet?

I have a windows 7 - e-machines ET1831 - 64bit - IE 8 and a windows XP home edition - dell My situation is I love the windows 7, for the internal workings, word pad, web mail. I like every thing about the way it works. The problem is I also have a redirect virus that prohibits me from useing visiting web pages. I get "redirected" every time.What I want to do is use the windows7 for storing data, e-mail(there is no problem with the e-mail).And use the dell - windows XP for surfing.Can this be done with out the use of a router? (I have had bad luck with routers.

I have cable internet. Do I need a second modem for the second computer. I have a router and modem hooked up to the first computer, I have wirless for my laptop. Having trouble getting second computer hooked up.

Have a small home network that has 1 desktop, 3 laptops, and tablet PC. The laptops are wireless and use Vista Home Premium and Windows 7). The desktop is hooked directly to the router via Ethernet (an Acer the problem PC).The router is WRTU54G-TM with the latest firmware, with security on it set to WPA-Personal and TKIP encryption. It hooks into cable modem. The Acer has a NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet NIC that came with system. Driver is 73.0.6.0 dated 4/30/2009. The system is less than a year old. System is Acer AX3400G-U4802 bought from Wal-mart.Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit ssigned to same Workgroup as other PCs.The Acer had problems a month ago when the power went off and on a couple of times. It then would not display a screen on the monitor. The fan and system would come on but not beep. Sent it in to Acer and they returned it saying nothing was wrong. Was able to power it up initially, but then had the display issue again. After turning system off and on multiple times I got it to come up. It won't connect to the router. Doesn't see it. In the ipconfig it was giving a 169 IP address. Seeing that DHCP was not working, I manually changed the IP to what is needed to connect to the router and used the router's gateway IP. Still no joy. The NIC cable should be fine. Tried others. Same result.
I am ready to return it again to Acer and tell them about the Internet issue. Oh, by the way checked my wall outlets and all are getting enough juice. May have to invest in a backup power supply. Here is a detail of ipconfig that I have tried (can't do advanced Windows tricks as this is the Home Premium addition and Microsoft has dumbed it down ) :

Whats happening is every time his girlfriend turns on her computer (its a little acer aspire d255) it automatically connects wirelessly to their network. And as soon as it does it kicks his computer off the internet and it is a wired connection. I played around with some router and firewall settings and I got it so that his computer will reconnect after a while but it still disconnects every time the acer tries to connect. They said they tried it at there parents and the acer connects fine and doesn't cause any issues there.
Both computers running win 7 and he has a linksys router.

I inserted a blank CD to add music into, using iTunes 10 (maybe 11).It did the job but all of the music were incomplete and the lengths were like 8 or 6 seconds.I tried to format the CD but it didn't work.Then I got angry and smashed the keyboard, and it froze.I force shut the laptop WITH THE CD STILL INSERTED and ejected it, then turned it on again.Windows started Startup Repair and it finishes, then restarted.And again Startup Repair ran again, then it told me it can fix the problem in a new dialog box.My computer is not connected to the Internet and I'm using a substitute computer to type this.A box in the dialog box showed the following text: [code] I closed the dialog box and it told me: (translated from Japanese, may not be that accurate.)

My Internet connection has been very shaky these past few day and now it refuses to work on either of my computers except for Skype on the wireless connection of my laptop.
The main desktop is connected to the router and modem yet can't access the Internet, with a "no Internet access" sign, while the laptop says it IS connected yet I can only use Skype.

i bought a computer from ibuypower.com after installing windows 7 64bit home, i couldn't connect to the internet. After realizing i didnt have the driver i needed for my router, i then downloaded them onto a flashdrive and tried to install them on the new computer. this kind of worked except its now telling me i dont have the network capability of using the driver. I have onboard lan networking.

I have a ACER aspire REVO loaded with the latest WIN 7 and updated drivers. It freezes randomdly when watching internet video from any source (all the way from Netflix, to you tube or private sites). When freezed it doies not respond to anything! Monitoring shows CPU with zero activity. Sometimes I can only move the mouse, but it does not respond to any click. I freezes anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes (while having crazy sound) but then it continues running normally, excuting the clicks done while frozen. It happens very often.It does not happend when playing video fron hard drive, nor whith any other situation; only when playing streaming video. Video is well buffered.

My computer began freezing when I close the internet. Mouse moves but when I click on icon nothing happens. I can use ctrl,alt,del to bring up logon/off window. When I log off and back on I can regain use of all programs.I am running Windows 7,and using IE9,with 6 gig ram. I t seems to have slowly began when I uninstalled Firefox about 2 weeks ago. My co-workers computer is extremely slow and will connect via WiFi but not when connected to an ethernet cable. It is a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. He thought it had a virus. I ran HiJackThis and it looks like some files are missing. He does not have any discs for it.

I powered it back on and all was well save my CPU fan being rather loud. Closer inspection revealed a blade broke off the fan. I replaced the fan thus morning and it seemed to run fine.I had an issue connecting to the internet, so I powered off, reconnected all the cables and rebooted the router and modem, and it seemed to fix it.I went on using the computer and got a dialogue box telling me that the internet disconnected. I attempted to reconnect and it failed. A couple of minutes later my computer froze. I had mouse control but that's it. I gave it a hard restart and it still didn't connect.I went out with a friend, came back and it connected no problem.I was playing a game and saw the internet disconnected again, then PC froze again.I restarted then ran avg, no problems

My computer won't connect through the internet except with internet explorer,my tablet, cellphone, XBox, and wife's PC are all fine.
Ways I've tried to connect:
Steam, Google Chrome, Malewarebytes update, and AVG free (requires internet to install).
What I have tried:
Changing DNS settings in chrome, running Malwarebytes (No detections), AVG (couldn't install due to "no connection"), Avast (No results), tried installing Ad-Ware (Can't "connect"), and I tried the LAN settings (Detect settings and unchecking the proxy box).

I custom built my computer and I am having problems with intermittent freezing. The computer freezes every second or two when I am connected to the wireless internet.; however, sometimes I can be connected to wireless and it works just fine. If I disconnect my wireless connection my computer works fine. My computer is running windows 7 professional and the wireless driver is up to date.

I just received my new desktop computer. (my old one is like 9 years old so...) I wanted to install windows myself, so I opted for a formatted HD.It looks like I bit off a little more than I can chew... managed to get windows installed. I do have an internet connection. I can connect to google and msn. However, whenever I go to a different web page, pretty much any web page, my internet will stall when loading the page. It will say "waiting for www.blank.com..." however, it will neveractually load the page! It will continue to stall until it brings my entire internet down, and I have to restart the router.I do have the up to date video card drivers installed. I installed an OEM version of Windows 7 but completely legit. I dont have any anti virus software installed. This happens in both IE and Firefox (I had to dload firefox from my laptop and do it via USB)Additionally, windows updater will also stall when downloading updates, and bring my internet down. Strangely enough, it will be downloading updates automatically down at the tray and tell me I need to restart my computer, but not force it on me.

I've been having this problem since I bought this new computer a few weeks ago. It's a HP desktop, the model number is s5229uk and it's Windows 7 Home Premium.
At random times when I'm browsing the internet, sometimes it can be every 10/15 minutes, sometimes just a few times a day it will stop loading and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark will appear on the connection icon in the bottom right hand corner.
I cannot troubleshoot the problems or open up the network and sharing centre because it either doesn't load at all or freezes, and the only way to reconnect is to hold down the power button as shutting down or restarting fails after about 20 minutes of the shutting down screen.
It's more annoying than anything. I've checked for viruses but nothing came up and the one time it's let me troubleshoot, it's told me to reset the router which I did and it didn't work. I thought it might be a compatibility issue with the router (we use Sky) but some days it works for longer than others.
On the Norton internet history for firewalls and connections I found this which I think might have something to do with it. Does anyone have any ideas how to stop the internet from cutting off because me and my Dad are at a loss, and he's quite good at computers.
Another thing is that it won't let me create a system image by backing it up onto an external hard drive, it gets to a certain point and gives me this message: 'The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002) I've tried again and it still doesn't work.
