My co-workers computer is extremely slow and will connect via WiFi but not when connected to an ethernet cable. It is a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. He thought it had a virus. I ran HiJackThis and it looks like some files are missing. He does not have any discs for it.

Ways I've tried to connect:
Steam, Google Chrome, Malewarebytes update, and AVG free (requires internet to install).
What I have tried:
Changing DNS settings in chrome, running Malwarebytes (No detections), AVG (couldn't install due to "no connection"), Avast (No results), tried installing Ad-Ware (Can't "connect"), and I tried the LAN settings (Detect settings and unchecking the proxy box).

It will not let me troubleshoot it because I do not have administrator permission. It also does give me the run as administrator option on anything. It does not do me any good to switch to admin because everything works as admin. how do I give the system rights to networking.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer, HP P6000 series Windows 7 SP1, that is acting a little strange after being stored for a few months. We moved out in April and I just reconnected it last week. Now, the only icons I have running in my system tray are the volume and the HP digital imaging icons. I should have more, like SkyDrive, Dropbox, and most annoyingly WiFi.I cannot connect to the internet at all on the computer anymore. I tried system restore to an earlier time when I know it was working, but it did not change anything. Ask any questions you may have, I know I haven't described this well, but it is unusual.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just formatted my entire laptop (Samsung RV511) due to a bug that was in the system my antivirus could not detect or the help of system restore would not get rid of either. My previous 2 laptops came with recovery discs but the samsung had only come with the windows 7. I had installed Windows 7 and after doing so, checked everything out. I realized that Samsung has many specific programs and drivers that come with their computers and in the process of formatting, I had deleted everything. My computer is unable to connect to the Internet and I can't even change the brightness of the screen anymore.

i recieved my new lenovo z570 ideapad yesterday...i'll just put some of the spec down incase you want to know.

anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
I have been having problems with my new computer running Win7 Ultimate and have had to do an upgrade install. Now IE8 and Incredimail are unable to connect to the internet although Norton, Windows, System Mechanic, etc.,can all download updates

I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using 7 Ultimate. Two days ago I was tempted to try I.E.9, D/L it but decided it wasn't for me.Did the uninstall in "Add/Remove".Later I realised that my yellow folders, from "My Docs" etc down to folders I'd gathered work in would not now open with left clicks, only with R click and "Open". The message I get is "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing these actions. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel".how do I define my "yellow" folders in order to assign 'em to something that will open them with? If I drag "My documents down to the taskbar and pin it to Windows Explorer then it will open from there with no problem.I gather that Windows Explorer is the programme to link 'em to but how?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the past few days, I have gotten many BSOD's while browsing the web, playing games, or talking to people on Teamspeak 3. Usually the BSOD/crash hits me usually an hour in while I'm doing those things in a session. Before I did get BSOD's and crashes but they were few and spread out. I never responded to them because they happened very sparsely. Now that they are very constant, I need to do some action. I have went into safe mode right now and am typing this on another computer. As for the dmp files, I didn't have the option for the BSOD crashes to save dmp files but now that that is enabled, I do have one dmp file that I can share.
Also I have noticed that sometimes that when the computer crashes, the sound becomes very distorted, the screen tears/fuzzes into a static-like image and then it just restarts. I either get this kind of crash or just a simple BSOD. It's very strange. Apparently these are considered BSODs as well according to bluescreenview, they just dont have the bluescreen. Interesting..
