View 2 RepliesMy co-workers computer is extremely slow and will connect via WiFi but not when connected to an ethernet cable. It is a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. He thought it had a virus. I ran HiJackThis and it looks like some files are missing. He does not have any discs for it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've discovered an odd issue with my computer. When there is no internet connection, it goes extremely slow. Simple programs such as VLC and ACDSee took something like 10 seconds to open. These programs are also installed on an SSD which makes these figures even worse than they would normally seem. Anyway I figured it was an issue I could fix with a reboot, however when windows was starting up, at the point where the desktop would finally appear, black screen. I can ctrl+alt+del to open task manager and I could see that there were 6 processes open, and nothing else was continuing to load. Safe mode with networking suffered the same problems.
At some point I disconnect the computer from the router, intuition I guess, and viola! Everything starts loading fine within 10s of disconnecting it from the router. I restarted multiple times with it disconnected, connected, disconnecting after few mins of black screen to confirm that it was the issue, and it indeed is. Same thing happened with Safemode with networking. Disabling the NIC seems to fix the issue as well. And of course when the internet came back on, it works perfectly fine.
This is my first post/thread on TH.Anyways, I Just recently bought a laptop for HS, about half a month old. Everything Ran fine , Until My computer decided to not work anymore.
I did a system restore from a repair disk and fixed, the only catch, norton reinstalled. I had uninstalled norton and when I did a system restore, the program probably sent it's server a "scam" alert as the program didn't respond after, So I had to uninstall it manually, removing the files and all the registry entres. Now, week later, I notice that my computer is downloading EPICALLY slow. My speed is 11mbs, on my alternate computer, it will download a 11 mb file in less then a second, but on the laptop, 25 minutes? No way is that possible.
I did some registry scans, with wisecare 365, fixed the registry and download time has come down to 13 seconds, which is still crazy long,
After installing Windows 7 Pro and populating my HD with the normal games and programs I usually run I decided to test my connection speed on speedtest.net I was shocked to see a barley got even 4Mbps/down and .67 up.My Connecton is usually 23Mbps down and change (I pay for 24) and 4 Mbps up. So I ran the speed test with my laptop, sure enough it was running at normal speed but my new build is not.I tried internet connection optimize in System Mechanic, and that did not have any affect on performance.

I currently have GoWifi to access my internet (my room mate has it to)But for the past 4 days my computer has been running horribly slow. I can't use a enthernet cable becuase "Gowifi" is only wireless. I use google chrome most of the time, but the internet is slow on chrome and explorer. I have tried the "ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew" method. I have also tried to Reset WINSOCK, Reset IPv4, Reset IPv6, and then restarted my computer but still did not do the trick. I have tried various things from forums on other sites and this site but it still is not doing the trick. Is there Anything you guys could tell me that could fix my problem? i bought this computer a few years ago and recently installed a hd 6670 graphics card and an old 420w psu i had so i could play games.i noticed after installing the new graphics card that my internet was running incredibly slow, and it was taking minutes to load some web pages. i have recently been away for a week and i have just got back and it is still the same. it takes minutes to load a webpage, often it won't load at all and streaming video from Internet is impossible. i then went to device manager and uninstalled the drivers for the graphics card and without rebooting the internet is instantly back to normal speed. as soon as i reinstall the drivers it is slowed down again. i have catalyst control center disabled as well.at the moment, if i want to play games i have to install the drivers each time, and then uninstall them whenever i want to browse the internet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Eee PC that came with Windows 7 Starter. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate because I hated the restrictions with Starter. Everything went just fine. Now it is so slow when I get on the internet that it times out. I don't even bother playing games on my favorite sites. It is just no fun anymore. I am more of a hardware person than software and I am lost. I don't even know where to start. I am on wireless and don't know what settings should be. I'm sure it's probably something really simple and I'm going to feel like an idiot but at this point I'll look the fool if I can fix this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I use IE9 to browse the internet it sometimes is very slow. I have run an internet speed test program [URL] which hangs when testing IE9. I then started Chrome and the internet browsing was fast. I ran the speed test program and the speed was what I expected. I switched between IE9 and Chrome to access certain web pages and perform the speed test and in EVERY case browsing with IE9 was unbelievable slow while Chrome was very fast. I cleared the browser history file, check the register for errors. Even as I write this problem on Chrome the IE9 is still trying to access this forum.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWell last month I was using an HP laptop (winXP) and it was running 54 mbps, which is fast for me. I got a new laptop (a week ago) and it's a HP and has Windows 7. Every since I started using it it's so slow and running at 12 and 18 mbps, it takes like 1 min. to load up a page. I have a Netgear router for wifi as well. So why is it running so slow the laptop is new?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a week ago a Dell pc with Win 7 Pro 64 bit. When I connected it to the network (40-50 pc & laptops), I realized that when I am trying to copy from the network and download from internet, the speed is really low. I changed Speed&duplex from auto to 100 mb full, I disabled Remote differential compression, I updated all the drivers, etc but still the same problem. Does anybody has any idea what do I have to do to make this work properly?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista my IE 8 internet connection is very slow to completely freezing up. It will run fine for several minutes and then the slowdown occurs. I have to close with task manager, the "x" and "stop" do not affect it. When I go to Safe Mode with Networking IE 8 works very well --as it has done from day one with Vista. I have done searches about this and know others have had issues but there does not seem to a clear answer. I have Webroot with Spysweeper for anti-virus.
View 3 Replies View RelatedComputer runs very slow. Computer freezes randomly. Does not want to boot past windows startup except for in safe mode(SOMETIMES). IF IT BOOTS takes and an incredibly long time to get to the desktop (20-45min). Does not want to run programs. Runs EXTREMELY slowly (makes a windows 95 pc look like a speed demon.) Random restarts, restart loops, and shutdowns. Sometimes after turning on it will immediately shut off then turn back on. Keeps recommending windows repair on startup. Wants to run chkdsk, then freezes on it.Malware detection programs. Hardware diagnostic programs. registry tools. disk defrags. Driver updates. Windows updates. BIOS update. System restore. Windows repair tool. Repair installation (twice). WINDOWS 7 CLEAN INSTALLATION (twice).Exactly the same as the first day it started happening. So not only did I lose all programs and files, but my pc still runs like crap. Also, this is a higher end pc under a year old. [code]

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am connected to the internet fine and I have another second computer wired up to the router and I can access the files over the network fine, its been working fine now for about 8 months but just recently on the second computer I have noticed that the internet speeds have dropped right of to useless and it even constantly disconnects too. The main computer does not disconnect and it does not slow down, working perfect in fact.
The only updates/software that has been installed on the second computer are windows updates. I've even purchased a new router/modem thinking that was the issue but alas it is not. My wife also has a wireless laptop and that works just perfect too, so the problem seems to lie with the second computer and I don't know what to do to resolve it. It will connect to the internet but its dam slow and majority of the time is useless, its a wired connection via ethernet straight into the router.
2 Days ago I upgraded my PC and moved from XP to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Everything was going smooth as butter, untill it was moment to use my internet. When I try to download something I get 50-60kb/s dl speed, 100 at max, while in XP my normal dl speed was around 5mb/s. I've installed all the newest drivers for absolutely everything, changed 3 lan cards, including the integrated on my motherboard, and all do the same stuff. My internet is super slow and I get disconnected every 5 or so minutes. I'm with a broadband (PPPoE) connection. I've heard there is a possibility my motherboard is faulty, because they were some mobos wich have problems with Windows 7. My setup is this:
Asus M4N68T AM3 Motherboard wich on the box claims its "Windows 7 Ready" AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz AM3 Dual Core Processor 2x2GB A-Data DDR3 1600G Memory Kit 500GB Hitachi 7K1000.C SATA II HDD Sapphire HD 5670 512MB GDDR5 Video card The lan card that I'm using in the moment is TP Link TF-3239DL
At my home network my pc runs just nicely. But today I moved it to my friends place and for some reason all surfing is really slow, like google.com takes up to 30-40 seconds to load.Using my laptop computer it loads in about a second on the same network.I am on a 4mb/500kb connection and nothing else is using the network. It doesn't matter if I use a cable to connect to the router or a wireless usb thingie.Speedtest and download speeds are just fine, but surfing around on internet pages is very slow.Hardware is a I7 at 3.9Ghz, 4GB ram, plenty of free diskspace.Router is a netgear cvg824g and all settings there looks normal.OS is windows 7 64bit all updated, all drivers updated too.Monitoring the network I can see almost no traffic.Under network properties I have disabled all but the TCP/IPv4 options.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been having really annoying issues with my internet connection since i moved from vista to windows 7. I looked the forum several times to find an answer to the problem but i can't find anything close. I used to have this driver: 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter version 3.0.0.1 , my internet speed was running at the usual 10mb but i there was a lot to freezing and buzzing while the driver was installed making the usage of the computer impossible, so i updated to the same driver but version 3.2.1.0 which came out in april this year. Now mi internet connection can't even get to 1mb ( the house connection is 10mb) i checked the other computers to see if it was an overall problem but it looks like my computer is the only one affected.the others computers in the house run with windows vista and don't show any signs of troubles with the network.i have no clue what to do , but I've read that is actually the windows 7 that is presenting problems with network driver , is that true ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a wireless connection at home which I use for my laptop. The problem is that quite frequently(not every time) when I start the laptop up it takes a long time for it to connect, which eventually ends with it not connecting at all. My solution for this is to restart the modem, but is there any way this can be avoided?
