Internet Slow After Upgrade

Mar 1, 2010

After upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista my IE 8 internet connection is very slow to completely freezing up. It will run fine for several minutes and then the slowdown occurs. I have to close with task manager, the "x" and "stop" do not affect it. When I go to Safe Mode with Networking IE 8 works very well --as it has done from day one with Vista. I have done searches about this and know others have had issues but there does not seem to a clear answer. I have Webroot with Spysweeper for anti-virus.

Slow Internet But Room Mate Has Fast Internet

Feb 11, 2013

I will try to be as descriptive as possible. I currently have GoWifi to access my internet (my room mate has it to)But for the past 4 days my computer has been running horribly slow. I can't use a enthernet cable becuase "Gowifi" is only wireless. I use google chrome most of the time, but the internet is slow on chrome and explorer. I have tried the "ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew" method. I have also tried to Reset WINSOCK, Reset IPv4, Reset IPv6, and then restarted my computer but still did not do the trick. I have tried various things from forums on other sites and this site but it still is not doing the trick. Is there Anything you guys could tell me that could fix my problem? And i do have a windows 7 computer.

Computer Become Slow And More Ram After Upgrade RAM?

Dec 12, 2011

I'm using Windows 32 bit, after I upgrade to 4GB RAM, and change my OS to 64 bit.

1) I see my computer really slower. I'm using one background program is Norton internet security 2012. does it make my 64 bit computer slow?

2) Before I upgrade from 2GB to 4GB, I just use about 1-1,5 GB RAM (and when no software use, just 800 MB). But, when I use 64 bit version with 4GB ram, windows start with 1,4 GB ram, and when i use software (like before), it turn to 2,5-2,7 GB?

Vista To 7 Upgrade - Slow Boot Up Time

Nov 19, 2009

I upgraded from Vista to 7 and I noticed my boot up time is very slow. I went ahead and tried the "time your windows 7 boot up" and apparently takes 194 seconds for my computer to boot.

I was thinking maybe if I did a clean install instead of just an upgrade that 7 would work faster but I wanted to know if that would actually be the case before reformatting.

Random Slow Boot Times After Memory Upgrade?

Jul 16, 2012

I assembled a PC a year ago based around the Asus M4A87TDUSB3.0, with it was bundled a Phenon II X6 1090T and 2 x 2 GB fast DDR3. I have a 750W PSU, running a Radeon HD5570. I have a dual boot config, with Windows 7 64bit as default but also XP as other OS because there are some old games I really like that only work in XP (I tried emulation but software rendering isn't up to it). 90% of the time I'm in Windows 7. I've set up the system to that the Windows 7 partition isn't visible to XP, so that my Windows 7 restore points don't get wiped out when I boot into XP.Anyway, to cut a long story short, system has been working well, reliable and without issues for the last 10 months. However, a couple of months ago I decided to install a second drive of the same size but faster. I migrated the entire contents from the old drive to the new faster one without problems. I then reformatted the old drive and made it a dedicated backup drive for Genie Timeline. All worked well.

A couple of weeks later, I decided to upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 16GB and used Crucial's system scanner to find suitable upgrade. I took out the old modules, installed the 16GB new ones as a complete kit (with same latencies etc). First boot didn't seem to go well, system hanged before Windows Logo. I rebooted, went into BIOS and set the memory timings to Auto and set up Memory Counter to show on screen. I rebooted and it showed 16GB and it then booted into Windows normally. All fine, I did a Windows system rating and got 7.4's and 7.5's on everything apart from the HDD which comes in at 5.9Problem is, I now randomly get slow boots. It probably happens once in about 5 times, the entire boot sequence will take around 14 minutes whereas normally things are fine after about 3 minutes. I've pared down startup programs in MSconfig to really just the stuff I need to get by, so I know it's not that. If I shut down and restart, the chances are it boots fine again. It's not Windows Updates causing this, I can see those when that happens. I've taken out the memory modules and have cleaned the contacts with Servisol, unplugged and plugged the HDD connections back in. For a few days, the problem seemed to go away but it then came back.

When it's in its slow mode, everything is a bit sluggish, it's almost like I would imagine it would be with a minimum amount of memory or if it was running some heavy process in the background. I also notice when it's like this, that rather than the drive light being solidly on when booting, it's more of a fast flicker, with periods of inactivity lasting a few seconds.I'm not a technical expert, my guess is that it's either the hard drive or the memory. However, I'm also wondering if there is something in the BIOS that I need to do. Also, I've noticed that when shutting down, sometimes it doesn't quite feel like it's shutting down right, by this I mean that usually, in the last second before power off, the chassis fan runs to max as FanXpert hands control of the fans back to BIOS I guess

Slow Internet With ATI Drivers?

i bought this computer a few years ago and recently installed a hd 6670 graphics card and an old 420w psu i had so i could play games.i noticed after installing the new graphics card that my internet was running incredibly slow, and it was taking minutes to load some web pages. i have recently been away for a week and i have just got back and it is still the same. it takes minutes to load a webpage, often it won't load at all and streaming video from Internet is impossible. i then went to device manager and uninstalled the drivers for the graphics card and without rebooting the internet is instantly back to normal speed. as soon as i reinstall the drivers it is slowed down again. i have catalyst control center disabled as well.at the moment, if i want to play games i have to install the drivers each time, and then uninstall them whenever i want to browse the internet.

Internet Extremely Slow?

Aug 15, 2012

I have an Eee PC that came with Windows 7 Starter. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate because I hated the restrictions with Starter. Everything went just fine. Now it is so slow when I get on the internet that it times out. I don't even bother playing games on my favorite sites. It is just no fun anymore. I am more of a hardware person than software and I am lost. I don't even know where to start. I am on wireless and don't know what settings should be. I'm sure it's probably something really simple and I'm going to feel like an idiot but at this point I'll look the fool if I can fix this.

When I use IE9 to browse the internet it sometimes is very slow. I have run an internet speed test program [URL] which hangs when testing IE9. I then started Chrome and the internet browsing was fast. I ran the speed test program and the speed was what I expected. I switched between IE9 and Chrome to access certain web pages and perform the speed test and in EVERY case browsing with IE9 was unbelievable slow while Chrome was very fast. I cleared the browser history file, check the register for errors. Even as I write this problem on Chrome the IE9 is still trying to access this forum.

2 Computers On Same Network - 1 With Very Slow Internet

Feb 2, 2011

I am connected to the internet fine and I have another second computer wired up to the router and I can access the files over the network fine, its been working fine now for about 8 months but just recently on the second computer I have noticed that the internet speeds have dropped right of to useless and it even constantly disconnects too. The main computer does not disconnect and it does not slow down, working perfect in fact.

The only updates/software that has been installed on the second computer are windows updates. I've even purchased a new router/modem thinking that was the issue but alas it is not. My wife also has a wireless laptop and that works just perfect too, so the problem seems to lie with the second computer and I don't know what to do to resolve it. It will connect to the internet but its dam slow and majority of the time is useless, its a wired connection via ethernet straight into the router.

Very Slow Internet Speed In Windows 7

Feb 5, 2011

2 Days ago I upgraded my PC and moved from XP to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Everything was going smooth as butter, untill it was moment to use my internet. When I try to download something I get 50-60kb/s dl speed, 100 at max, while in XP my normal dl speed was around 5mb/s. I've installed all the newest drivers for absolutely everything, changed 3 lan cards, including the integrated on my motherboard, and all do the same stuff. My internet is super slow and I get disconnected every 5 or so minutes. I'm with a broadband (PPPoE) connection. I've heard there is a possibility my motherboard is faulty, because they were some mobos wich have problems with Windows 7. My setup is this:

Really Slow Internet Connection After Install

Jun 19, 2011

I've been having really annoying issues with my internet connection since i moved from vista to windows 7. I looked the forum several times to find an answer to the problem but i can't find anything close. I used to have this driver: 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card LAN Adapter version 3.0.0.1 , my internet speed was running at the usual 10mb but i there was a lot to freezing and buzzing while the driver was installed making the usage of the computer impossible, so i updated to the same driver but version 3.2.1.0 which came out in april this year. Now mi internet connection can't even get to 1mb ( the house connection is 10mb) i checked the other computers to see if it was an overall problem but it looks like my computer is the only one affected.the others computers in the house run with windows vista and don't show any signs of troubles with the network.i have no clue what to do , but I've read that is actually the windows 7 that is presenting problems with network driver , is that true ?
