View 7 RepliesWin 7 desktop, that is clear for a person that knows very little about Win 7 and can not make frequent visits to the PC. I am laid up in bed with a fractured ankle, post surgery where a plate and screws were installed.I have this laptop, crutches, and wheel chair.Last night, my wife shut down the PCShe noticed it was installing an update. I started the PC this morning and all was normal until the screen flashed "Loading Microsoft Operating System" or something to that effectImmediately after that flashed (for less than a second), the system powers off.A few seconds later, the power comes back on, the fans start, the BIOS screen appears, all like normal, and then shut down again. This will continue forever it appears, given I watched it repeat 4 times.

I am trying to find a driver for my AMD RADEON HD 6600 Series, but I can't find it. I think it might be the cause of a lot of BSOD's. :/
i got version 8.850.0.0 (According to dxdiag)
Yesterday my laptop had an update for me, so I attempted to install it. However, when it was done I was told that the installation failed. I restarted the computer and attempted to install it again, but it still failed. I looked into more detail on what I was installing, which was Microsoft .NET Framework 4 KB2468871, and went to the site it was based on and attempted to install it from there. When the setup came up however, I received this message:
"KB2468871v2 does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer."
I'm not entirely sure what this means, and since this is apparently an important update for my laptop, I ask if there is a way I can solve the problem (also it's getting irritating to have my laptop keep on reminding me to update something that fails to update). My laptop has Norton 360.
I have tried updating them one-by-one but they still end up failing on me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a users laptop that is failing to install SP1 with the above error code (80070002). WU is installing other updates so it appears to be a problem with SP1 rather than WU. Installing while logged in gives me the error code but if you hit shutdown then it just sits on the Configuring screen and the user has had to hard power off the laptop after a few hours.
View 9 Replies View Relatedfor a few days (maybe a week) now I have had trouble with my Canon MX870 Printer/Fax. I have been using it successfully for the past 16 months now, via USB connection, installed on both my Windows 7 laptop and my Windows XP PC (I just unplug it and plug it in to whichever computer I need to print from). For some reason, it has decided not to recognize the drivers on my laptop.I have tried to uninstall and reinstall (no go).I also deleted every instance of MX870 from the registry that it would allow me to (some it wouldn't for some reason no access yes I am Administrator).Reinstall again still no go.The Windows 7 Updates were failing to update the Fax component which I thought was the problem, then all of a sudden it was successful still no printer. Now, it is unsuccessful again.I don't use the Fax component. The reinstall from the CD is successful, but when I plug in the printer, it fails."Device driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed. [code] Also, each time I unplug then plugin the USB cable, it attempts to reinstall the device drivers, the printer successful, the fax failing. It never did this before when I was happily printing away from both computers.
I have no problem printing from the XP machine when it's plugged in there all is good there.I have been to the Canon website and downloaded the latest drivers, which installed perfectly, but again when I plug in the printer, it fails to install the fax driver and the printer won't work..I have also tried all of the various USB ports and ruled that out.I've also run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter also without success. Also, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I can't even print to PDF. My CutePDF program is also not working. I thought this may have been a workaround until I got the printer working again, but no luck.CutePDF will go thought its processes (it's now ticked as default as my Canon is now longer even listed), up till the point where you need to name the file you're creating (that box doesn't appear) all you get to do is print, choose CutePDF, then it disappears no file or if there is, I have no idea where it's gone or what it's called can't find a trace of it.I have not downloaded or installed any other programs (except Windows Updates) in some time that could have caused this. I am at a loss. This is a business computer and printer and is causing much angst.I am running Windows7 (64bit) on an Acer Aspire Laptop (only 16 months old) Firefox 13.0.1.Also running Microsoft Fixit for Printers doesn't even detect the printer and tells me to install one it already is As does the Troubleshooter Does not detect the printer.
I got this windows IE9 update 36.7 mb, but no matter what I do the update fails after restore point is created. It seems I got the same problem as here: Update fails with error code 9C48. - Microsoft Answers but it keeps failing. I tried disabling my Avast AV but no luck.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have gone at least 5 months since I last installed windows updates. I had partially disabled the automatic updates (made it so that it downloads automatically but I choose whether to install them) and have recently decided to install the 101 or so updates that had been downloaded automatically.
About 74 of those updates, but I was able to troubleshoot windows update and so was able to successfully install 30 of those important updates.
The problem now is that I have 44 updates that are downloaded and require a shutdown or restart to be installed. However every time I shutdown or restart my computer I have to wait 5-10 mins for windows to configure the updates and in the end they fail and the changes are reverted.
I've tried troubleshooting again but it did not work. I wonder if these updates are older versions of newer ones I have installed and are therefore failing to install.
why the Windows updates are all failing. The problem started around mid October last Fall. The updates are set for automatic. I have also tried doing manual updates and no luck.On shut down each night the computer downloads the updates successfully, then the computer prepares to shut down and it says "configuring updates" and shows a percentage of completion. Every single time, it gets to 16% then says "installation failed - reverting changes". It then shuts down and reboots and everything seems ok, until the next time I shut down the computer and it tries to install more updates. Rinse, lather, repeat. They were working fine until last October. Since then the odd one shows "successful", but 99% "fail".

I have installed them numerous times.I check the update history and it says they were successful. (If that's the case why are you wanting to install again? ) Now when I try to "check for updates" I get the error 80073712.I have tried Microsoft fixit numerous times. I have tried the hotfix KB947821(also numerous times) to no avail.
Friends "out of the blue" my rock-solid-for-three-years windows 7 Ultimate x64 rig seems to have a permissions issue [I'm guessing]. I went to uninstall a program, and it failed. tried to install a program and it failed. Did windows updates, selected about 10 or so, most installed ok, but three failed. I created a new administrator-level account [the system has only had one in its history, the main/only I have ever used], tried to logon for the first time, and it failed. This system is on a LAN [wifi bridged AP] and is a Homegroup owner, but it is not on a Domain.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a refurbed Asus K50IJ-BBZ5 laptop this week. When I log into an administrator account after bootup, it will immediately give me a message about installing new device driver software, then in 20 seconds or so say that the install failed. The failure message specifically says"Device Driver software was not successfully installed.First, my ethernet works fine. I've plugged the laptop into a router and gotten to the internet, lost connection upon unplugging (i.e., it's not a wireless signal that is connecting me), reconnected upon plugging back in. Furthermore, when I have wireless enabled and am not plugged in by ethernet, I connect to the internet fine as well.So my wired and wireless internet access is fine.Third, it shows that specific network adapter working fine. Fourth, when I do try to update the device driver software using the device manager, it tells me that my driver is up to date.So my issue isn't so much with the network adapter/ethernet, since they do what I want them to. My issue is how do I stop the computer from pushing this driver at me?And I have cleaned the computer of most ASUS bloatware, and used msconfig to find what's running at startup, and there's nothing running that I see that is pushing this on me.

View 12 Replies View Relatedhave a big issue with Windows 7. It freezes all the time, multiple times every single day since i've installed.
I'm running x64 Build 7600 with a plenty good enough computer.
It seems to freeze at the most random times for small things, mostly when browsing the internet, doesn't matter which browser i'm using it will freeze randomly while loading a page. Sometimes it will freeze while opening a folder, or picture. And my screen will not wake up after sitting for about a hour or so.
I have the latest motherboard and video card drivers, i put the newest firmware on my Intel SSD, i've updated my Bios, Reinstalled 7 many times.
Also i've pulled the Cmos battery and completely reset my bios, thought that could of helped, but did nothing. Is 7 not working well with my SSD or what?
My computer uses 95-99% RAM everyday even with no windows open. It's very annoying because it cause the computer to run very very slow. I currently have an Acer Aspire 7540 with 2 or 3 GB of ram. Task Manager currently says I'm using 2.69 GB.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks I've had an issue that occurs the same exact time every day. At exactly 12am, any game that I'm playing or video that I'm watching stutters for about 3 secs. Both the video (FPS if a game) and audio are affected. I've done a search in the event viewer custom views, windows logs, and application and service logs and can't find any warning or event that happens at 12am.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had been having problems previously with this same system getting multiple BSOD everyday with varying messages on them. I was told after it was looked at that I had corruption in my registry and the easiest solution was to just re-install Windows. I went ahead and did that and even after a fresh install i'm still getting BSOD. I tried several re-installs and have been getting the same issues every time. There doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern to it doing it, just happens here and there. It doesn't seem to be the same frequency it used to but it's still happening. The only message i've seen thus far is "Memory_Management". During this last re-install, all I did was install Windows 7 Ultimate x64, loaded the necessary, updated drivers for my graphics card and motherboard and just left it, still got the blue screen.
