Is it possible to have vertical auto scroll when viewing folders and files in windows Explorer, ie. click mouse wheel and then move downwards to scroll down and vice versa?Currently my WE does not allow me to select auto scroll vertically.

When viewing .jpg files in explorer they are associated with windows photoviewer.If I right click on a .jpg file and go to open with, the CS6 executable does not appear, so I select "choose default program", "browse", make sure "always use the selected program to open this type of file" checkbox is checked, go to the .exe file for CS6, select it, and it takes me back to the "Open With" window but does not allow me to select the OK button to make the association. It's like I never chose an .exe to open the file with.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI work on a file in Word, I saved it. Then I want to email it to someone or upload to a website. When I open Explorer it just gives me an option called Recent Places which is a list of folders I have recently accessed. Then I have to remember (Word doesn't make that easy as it doesnt say at the top of every file the folder it is in like Word perfect wonderfully does) which folder I saved the file in. Is there anyway that I can set up Explorer so that a list of recently saved files, not just folders they are in? That would make things wonderfully easier and I wont have to go back and forth through a bunch of folders to find my file to email or upload.

When ever im using a browser ie. Internet explorer and google chrome, my browser scrolls down automatically to the bottom page even if im typing or watching a video.2. when im playing a fulls screen online video my video tends to auto pause.3. when ever i donot have a browser open and i open any other window/application everything minimizes, though i haven't noticed these issues when im playing game in full screen.

If I enter a folder that has many subfolders and extra files, it seems to load everything at once in alphabetical order, then there's a delay while it sorts the folders and the individual files separately, also in alphabetical order. This delay can be something like 5 seconds with just a few hundred items, and it just grows from there.
I use the auto scroll feature on my mouse frequently to browse web pages. Before upgrading to win 7 (and ie8) when activated I could scroll using the arrow keys on my keyboard. Since upgrading the arrow keys no longer work. You can only scroll by moving the mouse itself. That function is very important to me as it allowed me to keep my hand off the mouse reducing the aggravation of carpal tunnel syndrome. Any fixes? I am not sure if this is an IE8 problem or win 7 as I only use the function when browsing the web.

In XP, if I opened up a folder, I could start typing and the folders/files list view would jump down according to the letters I typed in.
In Windows 7, this does not happen - the focus remains in the left panel (i.e. Favourites, Libraries, Homegroup etc).

I have a good sony vaio from 2010 with a win7 home premium, 4 Gb Ram, 500Gb HDD, 50 Gb available currently. I know various System32 files are missing from information from a HijackThis Scan yesturday, eg lsass.exe. Explorer.exe does not handle folders well-double clicking should open any folder but instead it defaults to trying to open it with the first available software in the context menue, which happens to be VLC Media player. This is a known problem, to do with registry damage and/or windows explorer, not to do with VLC. I have been diligent with updating drivers, and am currently using Slimdrivers to identify further improvements to my driver lineup.
I will add a scan results from tweaking com windows repair after this post. Avast interenet security and Malwarebytes are up to date and scan have found nothing lately. MBAB had to be uninstalled and reinstalled today due to some sudden loss of the signatures update file(I think), but is running well again now. I wish to go through a range of tests and find out about some procedure to restore these corrupt system files. I am an advanced home user but have run out of idea with this problem.
As the title states Explorer is bogged down when the folders have a large number of items in them (over 500). I have searched multiple places and this topic is brought up regularly but too few solutions. The only bit of information I have is that when I view the same folder from the Computer link (in the Navigation pane) it does not slow down when I open the folder. It instantly populates the window with the folder contents.I think this is because the libraries and Favorites are virtual folders??? I don't know why this would cause Windows Explorer to freeze up for 10 seconds to display the folder contents but it is incredibly frustrating. Moving files between folders can be time consuming and has forced me to completely abandon the Libraries & Favorites.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLet's take ApexDC++, for example. When selecting more than one file and clicking Download to=> Browse, it doesn't autoscroll to the "Downloads" folder like it did in XP. I've attached 2 pictures to understand what I'm trying to say.
The first one(Capture1) shows the window that would appear in Windows 7, no autoscroll to the Downloads folder, and the second one(Capture2) shows how it would appear in WinXP, with autoscroll to the Downloads folder. This is important when downloading many files into different subfolders located in Downloads folder. It takes less time when you have the Downloads folder right in your face.
For example, I like to download pictures, and many of them have the same name, so I'd have to download them in different subfolders. Now I have to scroll myself everytime.
This problem isn't related to ApexDC++, it is caused by Windows 7, other software behave like this, too. DoubleKiller and probably any other software where you'd have to browse to an implicit folder would behave like this.
And, of course, these things don't happen in WinXP. Is it an option in Windows 7, or is it a bug?
When I open a folder using the tree in the left pane the position of the selected folder change. It's like the layout of the tree pane is not working fine. Maybe they autoscroll in order to display all the child's folders but I don't like this. When the folder i want to open is in the middle of the pane (vertically) it moves often to the bottom and i can't even see the child's folder, and some time it move the opened folder to the top of the pane
I just would like to have the thing working as it's in XP. When we open a folder, this one don't move and the children appears under this one.
after creating an iso file, when I go to where it�s located via Windows Explorer (sitting on C drive) it�s not located there but when I go to burn the image, I can select it from the location via the program I use to burn it. I have made sure via Folder Options that I can see all files, I have searched high and low on the net, and found one that was the same problem but no one had answered it. I am using a computer that has 64 bit home premium Windows 7, would it have anything to do with a 64 bit system? I am looking at loading Windows 7 Pro either 32 or 64 bit on here but want to give the home premium that came with the computer a chance, this is my first computer I have not built?

View 8 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is due to my hardware or some setting in Windows 7. I have Win 7 Pro x64 on a Sony Vaio ZPCZ11. Using the MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 7000. In the file view of Windows File Explorer, if I click in the space and wheel scroll, everything works fine and the scrolling is smooth. But when I click in the Navigation Pane (Folder List) and try the same thing, it wants to scroll an entire page at a time. I cannot get the smooth mouse scrolling to work in this Pane!

The problem is that I can't scroll with the mouse wheel while either of the mouse buttons is held down, or at least not outside of the library. The 'library' sub-folders are the only locations in explorer that this still works in (it works everywhere else, like browsers).Recently installed QTTabBar and Classic Shell, I also ran four .bat/registry files....Explorer_Auto_Arrange.bat Disable_Numerical_Sorting.bat/Enable_Numerical_Sorting.reg After uninstalling the two programs and running the Disable files, I still can't select and scroll in folders outside of the library. I don't think it's my mouse either because, as I said, I can do it in the libraries and the browsers; and I have a Wacam Bamboo Tablet which let's me click and after clicking with it and trying to scroll with the mouse, it still doesn't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, I am trying to keep an open mind to the point that I invested my money into Win 7 Ult. 64 bit. While I find that it has some interesting addons, like Vista I find that is appears to be warmed over XP with the same features, just renamed and in different places so as to seem new. Now, that being said the deal breakers is really whether or not I can access and view files that I wish to. It seems no matter how I set up my admin access I can not view files such as, Temporary Internet files, cookies and many others unless I go through a 3rd party program such as Norton Utilities 10.5. In XP I could find and view them without problems. In Win 7, not only can I not view them but the difficulty in even finding that they exist makes me wonder what other files hold information that I wish to know about but windows is hiding from me.So, 2 questions. Can anyone give me an easy fix that will allow all files to be exposed to me AND viewable to me via Windows Explorer and 2, While Win 7 some nice little add ons can anyone explain what makes it fundamentally better than XP so that I would want to stay with it rather than going back to XP?

Im set as Owner of the folder and i have all permissions set for me however i am still unable to see these files outside of nero and i don't know why.When i go and try to change the permissions on the folders (the locked ones) windows says the files/folders doesn't exist...
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy XP machine HD started to fail and after numerous tries to fix it, I purchased a new Windows 7 machine. I took the internal HD out of the Xp machine and put it in a docking station to USB and it shows up as Drive K on the windows 7 machine. I wanted to drag and drop some files from it, but can't find most of them! What is odd, is most files aren't showing - no music files, no doc files - the drive seems to be working/reading ok. I also noticed there are no individual user accounts. I've turned on "show all hidden files" and I"ve given ownership of the whole K drive and folders to everyone and my username, but no files show. The drive shows it is almost full, so SOMETHING is on there.

I view an e-book in adobe reader, it has 456 pages in it and lots of images and graphics.When I scroll, resize the adobe reader window it "lags" and becomes slow.Also when I scroll, there is some noise coming out of my laptop and when I stop scrolling it stops too.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open a folder with DVD Video files (.VOB files, etc.), an error pops up saying wmm2clip.dll could not be found (in the DVD Maker folder). This happens as soon as I open the folder, so I don't know what's happening... perhaps it's trying to create a thumbnail of the video for display in the folder? Does anyone have any ideas? I have not uninstalled Windows DVD Maker (although I've never used it), and I was able to run Windows DVD Maker without any problems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNot sure if "focus" is the right term here, but anyway. I use "list" view almost exclusively so this may not be an issue with other views. But one of my beefs with Windows 7 is: if you're viewing a folder that has multiple rows of files or sub folders; then you click on of the the folders that's more to the right of the window and the entire contents of the window reorients itself so what you clicked on is now more towards the left area of the window. Know what I'm saying?

Now I click on a file that's slightly out of view and it does this without me touching the slider at all.....
