View 1 RepliesI have researched this problem quite a bit and tried several possible solutions that have worked for many users yet nothing had worked. I have tried several different drivers, tried tweaking settings with no solution in sight.
I am using Windows 7 build 7022.
Can anyone advise?
For some reason, the auto hide feature does not work. If I select it and apply, the bar drops down and comes back up. I have tried several times. It is annoying as media controls and web page buttons are hidden behind the task bar.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use the auto scroll feature on my mouse frequently to browse web pages. Before upgrading to win 7 (and ie8) when activated I could scroll using the arrow keys on my keyboard. Since upgrading the arrow keys no longer work. You can only scroll by moving the mouse itself. That function is very important to me as it allowed me to keep my hand off the mouse reducing the aggravation of carpal tunnel syndrome. Any fixes? I am not sure if this is an IE8 problem or win 7 as I only use the function when browsing the web.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I open (click or double click) a folder on the navigation pane (folder browser on the left pane of windows explorer), somehow the folder will automatically scrolled down to the bottom. Not always, but sometimes. Is there anyway to stop it from scrolling down unintentionally?

I may be the only one on earth that does not like windows search [in 7] as it fires off at the first keystroke, wasting time/energy afaik. Is there a way to turn it off so that I can get my proper search string entered, then hit the key??

View 4 Replies View RelatedLet's take ApexDC++, for example. When selecting more than one file and clicking Download to=> Browse, it doesn't autoscroll to the "Downloads" folder like it did in XP. I've attached 2 pictures to understand what I'm trying to say.
The first one(Capture1) shows the window that would appear in Windows 7, no autoscroll to the Downloads folder, and the second one(Capture2) shows how it would appear in WinXP, with autoscroll to the Downloads folder. This is important when downloading many files into different subfolders located in Downloads folder. It takes less time when you have the Downloads folder right in your face.
For example, I like to download pictures, and many of them have the same name, so I'd have to download them in different subfolders. Now I have to scroll myself everytime.
This problem isn't related to ApexDC++, it is caused by Windows 7, other software behave like this, too. DoubleKiller and probably any other software where you'd have to browse to an implicit folder would behave like this.
And, of course, these things don't happen in WinXP. Is it an option in Windows 7, or is it a bug?
I have a gateway m-6843 laptop that originally came with vista. It has a track pad, or whatever that thing on laptops is called. I installed windows 7. In both FF and IE when the cursor is NOT in the scroll area, it acts as though I am holding on to the scroll bar. So if I move my cursor down near the bottom of the main part of the browser page (again, outside of the scroll area) it acts as if I grabbed the scroll bar and flung it down. It is intermittent, but bad enough that doing anything online is almost impossible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedStill trying to find out why the Ports, Coms, etc don't show anywhere in Device Manager. I noticed an old Post where it said to look in add/Remove Hardware. Where do I find this Add/Remove Hardware option? There was also a Post to check the BIOS for this and to see if PORTS is set to Auto. How to have the Ports show up in Device Manager.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.
Auto check comes up 4 times right after windows7 starts up. But will continue to boot normally. BEreg Query comes up with this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old wired (I think it's a logitech) mouse, and it has stopped scrolling only in IE. It will scroll in Firefox though. And I don't know if it works in Chrome or not because Chrome has totally died on me and is just a mess.
how to get my mouse to scroll?
I looked for drivers thinking I maybe needed to update them, but it says drivers are not required. I have disconnected and reconnected the mouse from my PC, which is running Windows 7, and still no luck.
All of a sudden the Up & Down Arrow Keys, the Page Up & Page Down Keys, the Home & End Keys no longer work properly. Whenever I click on any of them nothing happens or I am taken to the very bottom of the page. The only way I can move up & down the page is to use the Scroll Bar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSuddenly I cant scroll in any window in IE. If I just touch the scroll button then the window shudders to the end of the page. Just touching the button causes the window to shake up and down. In Google the curser in the search box moves on its own to the right. Cannot type in the box. Am using my XP machine for this post as my main Win 7 machine is unusable on the net. I have just tried rebooting so far, to no avail.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new laptop (An ASUS Zenbook). I have a problem when I'm scrolling in a document (or similar, like this textbox I'm writing in now) - I can't scroll further down than where the curser is in the text. When I try, the screen just jumps back to the curser. If I scroll sideways, I control the position of the curser instead of the position of the screen. It's really annoying.I use the mousepad on the computer, and I haven't tried an external mouse.I've got a feeling that it might have something to do with scroll lock, but Asus didn't include a scroll lock button on the Zenbook (who uses that button anyways?)

I am trying to deselect an item in adobe_reader...edit. preferences. internet. display pdf in browser but the window doesn't scroll to the bottom where presumably the ok button is. I deselect display, close the window, reopen the window, and display. is reselected. I can't grab the window title bar and move to the bottom either because the window is already against the top of the screen and I can't seem to resize the window and get to the bottom that way. This problem has occurred in other windows from time to time also.
The people at my bank tell me I need to deselect this item for me to be able to access my account statements, which are presently not accessible, presumably because of this problem with "display pdf in browser".
I installed windows 7 but instaed of the 4 colours I get the Vista scroll bar on boot up. I have changed the screen resolution & made some changes using command prompt but no luck so far?
