Viewing Contents Of Temporary Internet Files Folder?
May 2, 2012
I would like to be able to view the various temporary internet file folders like I used to with my previous version of Windows. Can anyone tell me how I can do this. I have tried using: C:> UsersMy DirectoryAppDatalocalMicrososft. According to my antivirus scan tool, the temporary internet files are located within the Microsoft directory but when I try to access that directory it's not there.

I know the files are there, and I know the directory ( as defined in IE8 itself ), but I can't see them in any other application.I want to use my Eraser program to erase these files properly, rather than just deleting them.

Whenever I open a folder with DVD Video files (.VOB files, etc.), an error pops up saying wmm2clip.dll could not be found (in the DVD Maker folder). This happens as soon as I open the folder, so I don't know what's happening... perhaps it's trying to create a thumbnail of the video for display in the folder? Does anyone have any ideas? I have not uninstalled Windows DVD Maker (although I've never used it), and I was able to run Windows DVD Maker without any problems.

I have used firefox since day one when I bought my new pc - but in recent months, I have been getting some irritating issues.Everytime I goto clear my temporary internet files, the program simply refuses to completely clear them and the address toolbar. Also, I cannot seem to install or update Java, everytime I goto install it, the installer comes up with an error - and renders Java unusable. Finally whenever I use Hotmail this is a frequent issue."A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. url..

Issue #1: All of a sudden, I couldn't print .pdf files (various adobe error messages in different browsers, or messages telling me I hadn't selected a print range - yes I did!).
Issue #2. I followed some advice and uninstalled Adobe Reader, then tried to re-install it. I can't re-install it. When I try to re-install using Internet Explorer, I get the first two dialogue boxes where I checked "run," but the third dialog box I am supposed to get, according to Adobe, never pops up - the one that is suposed to ask me if I want to grant permission). I temporarily disabled my software security and tried again, but the third box never comes up. The adobe instruction page just sits there - no signs of life, download activity, brainwave activity, etc.
Issue #3. I followed more advice and tried to install Adobe Reader using a different browser - Mozilla. Just for fun, the issues are different this browser - still can't download, but this browser tells me "unable to write to temp. directory C:usersmynameappDatalocalmp29061 error = 3 = > The system cannot find the path specified" It tells me to change my permissions, or save elsewhere. It never gives me the opportunity of a choice to save it elsewhere, and I can't get access to the folder to change permissions. I can't find it, after getting advice on how to find it. It's just not there! I am the administrator of this home computer.
Issue #4: In the meantime, I had placed a call to Adobe's help desk. They called back and told me to first install Google Chrome, which is more compatible with newer versions of Adobe Reader.
Issue #5: When trying to install Google chrome, I went through the same download problesm as under Issue #2 and issue #3. I found a version of Google chrome already downloaded on my computer, however, and launched it.
Issue #6 I tried to download Adobe Reader now using Google Chrome. Nope, same issues as before. I spent lots of time trying to get find and/or get access to temp file. Can't find it to change permissions on it .
Issue #7 I am minutes away from throwing pc into a snowbank and running over it with my car. Multiple times.

I used the temporary internet files very often on Windows XP. It was the easiest way for me to grab images, xml's, flv, swf, mp3's and go on and on. Now I have windows 7 (version 7137) and when I look in the TIF folder, there are no jpg's, no flv's, no swf's and so on.
I was wondering if those images (files) are maybe saved somewhere else? I tried downloading programs that are specially made to grab images from the web, but I can't say that those programs are great replacements.

There appears to be an abundance of "Temporary Internet Files" stored in my system. My scanner (Avast) gets jammed up sorting through this junk and it takes forever to complete a scan. It can take hours just to do a Quick Scan. I realize I can set the scanner to avoid going through these files but what I really want to do is get all of it out of my system. I used to be able to empty all of that stuff out manually when I had Windows XP. How do I dump this stuff (empty the cache?) with Windows 7?

I have my tower pc on constant all day- to record a streaming IP Camera from my work.Initially, I saved these files into my docutments- which they would save as .avi files, and after every several days I would delete them as they would take up ALOT of space on my pc.My pc is 250GB in size, and usually it would be about 80GB full before I had the IP Camera. Just recently, I noticed all of the IP Camera avi files seemed to have disappeared from my documents if I went directly to the folder... I could still see them in documents when I was choosing a location to save the recordings.Upon right-clicking the avi files in the latter, the files would be of no size and wouldn't play. Now my computer is 210GB full in the matter of a week.

I have a system with 32gb DDR3-2400, a 256GB SSD and a couple of spinners. I have set up 4gb of the RAM to be used as another RAMdisk using the softperfect software. This problem has been going on for some time, but has been more of a problem since I started using the RAMdisk. Not because the RAMdisk itself isn't working well, because the stuff that is stored there keeps getting reset.I have pretty much identified that when updates are installed through windows update (either from Microsoft update or from my WSUS server), the following are reset to defaults
1. Pagefile is automatically managed and stored on the C: drive and is set to 32gb
2. The TEMP and TMP environment variables are reset to the C:users default location
3. The temporary Internet Files location is reset to the default C:users... location
There may be others that I have not discovered.I have manually set my swap file to 1024/2048 on the D: drive (a spinner), on the belief that it should rarely if ever be needed with a system equipped with 32GB of RAM. I'm certainly not inclined to waste 32GB of space on my SSD for an unused object.I have placed the TMP/TEMP files, cookies and Temporary Internet files on the RAMdisk to squeeze a little extra performance out of the system. (Yes, I know, I'm not really getting much benefit).Photoshop and a few other programs also use the RAMdisk as a scratch disk, and were the main reason I set it up in the first place. This is becoming a real pain when it gets reset as I have to manually change everything again. Anyone know a way to make windows leave settings at what I set them, instead of having it continually reset the values to what it wants? I'd prefer to have it my way. I know there will be proponents of "leave things as windows wants it".

When I scroll through my sub-folders using explorer on the left hand side, it doesn't automatically display the contents on the right unless I use my cursor to manually select the folder, not just by scrolling up or down (right to left work to expand and contract folders). annoying. Ive tried the folder properties bar.

I went to the "recording" tab in my DVD burner's properties, changed the drive from C to D. Now there's a folder called "Windows Burn Temp Files" in my D drive. But the problem is, while burning, files are still being copied over to C in a temporary folder there. Shouldn't it be copying to D:Windows Burn Temp Files instead? Example, when I cut paste some files from D drive on to the DVD drive before burning, it should be instantaneous, as the temporary files should also be shored in the same drive, D. But this is not happening.

Working on my Acer Aspire yesterday, I went to open a file in Photoshop and couldn't find the file in the folder where I knew it was located. Furthermore, none of the files previously located in that folder were there anymore either, though the folder itself was in its proper location in the file hierarchy. After searching desperately around, I finally found the missing files in an entirely different folder. That folder had always been there, but with nothing in it.

I'm having an issue with installing certain things, such as plugins for Firefox, but also other small software I have to download first. When I try to install, for example, the Flash plugin via the official website,I get this message in a popup."C:Users*name*AppDataLocalTemp could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location."I'm not sure how to set either of those things. But what should I do anyway? This is preventing me to do a whole bunch of things. For one, watching videos on the internet. Not so handy.

I'm running Windows 7 and IE 9. In the default temp folder (tools>internet options>General Tab, Browsing History, settings>view files), I can see a number of cached fies, but not all the jpgs. On my XP machine with IE 8, after I visit the same website as on my Windows 7 machine and follow the same steps as explained above, I can see all the jpgs. The Internet Option settings are the same on both machines. Why can't I see all the same files on the Windows 7 machine?

There's something about Windows that has always puzzled me. Let's say you have a directory in which there are some additional directories (folders) and some standalone files. When in that directory you select details for your viewing mode. Right click on a standalone file, select properties and you'll see the file size. Do the same for a folder and you'll see the folder size. This tells you that the information about the size of the file or folder is present. Yet when you select view details, the size of the standalone files is displayed but the size of the folders is not displayed. The only reason I can imagine Microsoft does this is because they make a bunch of money when people like me get so annoyed with this that we buy software such as folder size (which I use). But I didn't pay one dime for the folder size software, as I got it free from a third party vendor. So the reason can't be because they make a bunch of money selling the folder size software.

I just got a new PC with Windows 7 installed and have run into this issue twice, both times with a particular folder - let's call it "UsefulDocuments2" (the actual folder name DOES have a 2 at the end, but there is no folder called "UsefulDocuments").
Sometimes, when I try to view the folder contents using Explorer or through Windows Live Mail (in an attempt to include a file in the folder as an attachment), I can't view the contents of the folder. When I access the folder, it has the proper path listed in the address bar of the window and displays the number of items (171) in the lower left corner. However, the status bar just says "Searching for items..." except I can occasionally see it flicker to say "171 items."
While it is "Searching for items..." (which is 99.9% of the time), it doesn't display any of the contents of the folder. The scrollbar on the side of the window constantly flickers - it's recognizing that there are 171 items in the folder and that the scrollbar is necessary, but then keeps re-searching the folder contents, I guess.
Weirdly, if I change the folder name to, say, "UsefulDocuments" it works fine (at least right now). If I then change it back to "UsefulDocuments2" it reverts to its old behavior. Also, if I open a file in it in Word (2010), I can view and access the contents of the folder without any problem at all.
Obviously, I can just change the folder name, but don't really want to for organizational reasons, and also am just curious as to what's going on and how to fix it should it happen to other folders, etc.

Is it possible to delete these and other temp files? How do I look for them?

I have two computers connected to the same HomeGroup on the same network. Both are sharing their documents (Control Panel/HomeGroup). On both computers, Windows Explorer shows the user on the other computer under HomeGroup, and under each user is Documents. But when I click on Documents, nothing changes. It seems that it isn't reading the contents of the documents folder on the other computer.

after creating an iso file, when I go to where its located via Windows Explorer (sitting on C drive) its not located there but when I go to burn the image, I can select it from the location via the program I use to burn it. I have made sure via Folder Options that I can see all files, I have searched high and low on the net, and found one that was the same problem but no one had answered it. I am using a computer that has 64 bit home premium Windows 7, would it have anything to do with a 64 bit system? I am looking at loading Windows 7 Pro either 32 or 64 bit on here but want to give the home premium that came with the computer a chance, this is my first computer I have not built?

Okay, I am trying to keep an open mind to the point that I invested my money into Win 7 Ult. 64 bit. While I find that it has some interesting addons, like Vista I find that is appears to be warmed over XP with the same features, just renamed and in different places so as to seem new. Now, that being said the deal breakers is really whether or not I can access and view files that I wish to. It seems no matter how I set up my admin access I can not view files such as, Temporary Internet files, cookies and many others unless I go through a 3rd party program such as Norton Utilities 10.5. In XP I could find and view them without problems. In Win 7, not only can I not view them but the difficulty in even finding that they exist makes me wonder what other files hold information that I wish to know about but windows is hiding from me.So, 2 questions. Can anyone give me an easy fix that will allow all files to be exposed to me AND viewable to me via Windows Explorer and 2, While Win 7 some nice little add ons can anyone explain what makes it fundamentally better than XP so that I would want to stay with it rather than going back to XP?
