Running Windows 7 Ultimate. I wanted to connect my laptop to an external monitor so I pressed "Windows key + X", then clicked "connect display", then "extend."
On most computers, doing this will allow you to output the display to another monitor.
When I did it on my laptop, the screen started flickering and became garbled. It's too garbled to see, and I can't find the mouse and undo what I've done. I tried restarting but it's still like this.
I recently attempted an install of Windows 7 onto a friends PC. The specs are listed below. Here is a link to a screenshot of the problem www.ronnarozny.com.
This occurs after a Windows 7 install. The system boots to the Windows 7 setup, where personal options are selected. After this, a reboot will begin the POST, and prior to completion, this screen appears. I do not believe the POST has finished, and I do not think it is handing boot duties to the OS.
What I have attempted so far is:
Memtest - checked out ok.
Replaced CORSAIR mem with other sticks.
Reformat from command prompt on boot disk.
Removal of all hardware, including video card.
I am completely stumped on this issue, and any help would be appreciated.
I tried to do a routine (once a year) chkdsk via the command prompt Code: > chkdsk /r
> shutdown /r /f /t 1 . And upon the reboot, all I get is a black screen, no cursor, with ~4 rows of rainbow, garbled pixels at the very top of the monitor (certain pixels occasionally change colours). This occurs before the windows splash screen. I have left the computer as is, hoping it will eventually boot on its own with no luck. This was just a routine check. Some more information, I dual-boot with Ubuntu. I can mount and access the windows partition from Ubuntu, and I even ran ntfsfix in Ubuntu (which has some analogous functionality to chkdsk), but it didn't notice any problems.
i've tried recording to roxio, the sound recorder, and audacity. i've input Internet, a zoom portable recorder and my galaxy. it happens every single time. the recording starts very clear and between 2:00 an 2:37 the output audio starts to sound garbled. i've tried everything. can someone help me? i cannot even record my southern rock band reheasal on any program.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having the most insane issue with sounds in Windows 7. All of a sudden out of the blue it seemed like my headphones started dropping half the channels. I can hear mostly high pitched sounds but bass and especially voices are very quiet, laggy and distorted.
What's killing me is I can't find out why. I've tried different headphones, but every pair does the same thing. I've used different audio jacks (reconfigured in registry) no difference. I thought the onboard Realtek card might have had it so I bought a new Creative sound card. Exactly the same thing.
I've installed and reinstalled new drivers, codecs and anything else I can think of. I even booted into my Vista partition and the sound there is screwed too now. Have I just killed some part of the motherboard somehow?
My sound for my Windows 7 desktop is garbled and sometimes choppy. I install a new sound & video card (with drivers), I went thru the microsoft fix utility, but still no change.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi operate a 2 year old notebook using windows 7. lately the sound is broken up, (cuts in & out), sometimes garbled and slow, and at times it's ok. i have tried Internet, my own music, any sound system, seems to be bad. almost feels like the old fashioned electrical short circuit problem
View 6 Replies View RelatedTwitter not displaying correctly, fonts are all garbled like sticks. I have tried in firefox, IE9 and Chrome. It is unreadable in all browsers and I cannot find a fix anywhere. For Character Encoding I have all browsers set to Unicode (UTF-8) as do not recall ever changing them to anything else or seeing this problem before. All other sites show correctly. So I really am stumped. If you need my twitter page or could go see if it looks normal on your computer the address is Robbo (@aussiecriminals) on Twitter?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been working with windows 7 and I recently reformatted up 7100 x64.
I am noticing a new problem that I didn't experience in build 7000 x64. Basically my the screen locks up but I am still able to use the mouse and do things but the screen doesn't update. For example Im running FL Studio, and I load some module, then the screen freezes. Now I can still play sounds, exit software etc but nothing changes on the screen, its like clicking on a picture and navigating by memory. Eventually, the cursor disappears and I am forced to restart by holding the power button.
As I said, I have did a clean install of 7100 x64 the only other change is that I am using the 171.81 nvidia drivers instead of the older ones.
I recently started up my computer and a weird screen error appeared. Ill try my best to explain it. The screen is split up into 4 sections and its kinda blurry. Its almost like permanent safe mode.

I was previously using XP SP3 on a intel 915GAV mobo. It installed the Intel Extreme Graphics which showed many resolutions for my monitor. After installing Windows 7 I only get 3 options of resolution. Any workaround for this? Cannot find any graphic drivers for this mobo.

Now my nVidia Graphics Card does not seem to be recognized and my screen resolution is stuck at 1024 x 768 and doesn't even fill all of the screen. Also, games that I used to play online I can't hardly see at all. I have tried the Sony Support site and the nVidia site to download drivers and anything else I can find to no avail. i have a problem with my year old desktop pc and random screen corruption when i startup the pc. sometimes it does it once a month, but in the last week its happened it every day. this is a video of what happens but its not always the same, but its always at startup. usually anytime upto and including the windows login screen, but never before or during the bios screen. once it corrupts i then need to hard reset, soft reset does nothing. also, after a successful reboot windows complains of a previous bluescreen. all drivers are up to date. nvidia_gtx465_corruption.3gp - Internet i`ve tried replacing the graphics card and i still had problems and i`ve reinstalled windows 7. i`m thinking the next thing is to replace the psu? whats strange is that it never goes wrong once windows is up and running, its only at startup. it also cause the external monitor (tv) to blank out and it freezes the pc ie caps lock, etc dont function. i`ve also tried it in someone else`s house with different monitor and the same occurred.

I've recently upgraded to windows 7 x86, and it works great. The only problem I have is that my ati mobility radeon 3650 graphics card doesn't seem to want to work.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers several times using several different versions of the driver (win7beta, vista32, mobilitymodded, unmobilitymodded).
Whenever I try starting up with the card enabled, the screen goes blank. After reinstalling the driver, everything but the wallpaper goes away. Can anyone help?
I recently turned on my laptop for it to constantly arrive to a black screen just before I select the user login. I read some instructions on a different forum stating that I need to log in to the computer via the safe mode and un install my display driver which is Intel(R) HD Graphics, I did this which enabled me to get back onto my original login but at a price. My driver now says that it's VGA, My screen resolution has changed, every app I use crashes constantly as well as any videos/films I play they crash, skip every minute or so.Yet if I update the driver I end up back at square one, the black screen. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742 with Windows 7.I've also tried the windows recovery which crashes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have really bad lag when running any application that requires full screen mode. I've got the latest AMD drivers that supports my GFX card (Asus Radeon 4850). I used to have a Nvidia card and I would just change one of the settings to get rid of the lag. I changed the Graphics card and reformatted the computer so it shouldn't be a driver issue. I have Service Pack 1 and all the updates for Windows installed. The lag is unbearable for games, so I can't play any games that require full screen, no issues when it's run in windowed mode. I've used FPS monitors while running games (Fraps and MSI afterburner) and the frame rates readings are normal (above 60 always) but it always looks like 20-ish no matter which game I play.
For videos there's always some kind of problem. Used various media players, and different browsers for flash videos but sometime the video skips to the end very quickly, or won't continue playing and halts immediately somewhere along the way. Used MSI Kombustor to stress out the GPU, and it maxes at 70 at 100% load. Directx 10 stress test seems to be blurry, every other test seems fine to run but would have the lag from being in full screen.
I installed my graphics card into my optiplex 755 and it gives me a picture but it keeps sending me to a setup repair screen and says something is wrong with the hardware and when I try to just use the original vga no screen will show.
View 1 Replies View Related - Win 7 RC 7100 32 bit does not load the correct graphics card driver and even the boot menu is not displayed correctly (fuzzy black screen, issue known from Ubuntu installations where it was solved by adapting boot loader specifications…) I do know however, that the boot menu is loaded correctly as “arrow down” + “enter” starts XP without any issues.
Win 7 is somewhat loaded, when hitting “enter” only in what I think must be the boot menue. Harddrive gets active and for 5 secons I even get a “black screen in normal resolution” with the arrow displayed correctly. Then unfortunately returning to fuzzy mode.
Questions:
- How to boot Win 7 in vga or graphics modus being blinded? When hitting F8 hard drive reacts differently, but how then to select the right boot option without seeing anything?
- Is there an option to install a different graphics card driver into win 7 via the working XP?
- Is there an option to modify the boot menu’s options via working XP, e.g., setting to vga modus (that did the trick for Ubuntu).
- Any experience with Radeon Mobility 9600 (MV350) under Win 7?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have heard a lot of my friends saying that they are unable to play high resolution and high definition games on their pc and told that they are on a low budget to buy a graphics card.here is a solution for that:there is a software named 3-d analyzer available in the internet which acts as a virtual graphics card for playing games. you can enter the graphic card needed from the 4 available graphic cards available and then you can get the attributes of that graphic card..if fine tuned, you can play games at the range of a 128mb ram virutal graphic card on your non graphic card pc. note:graphic intensive games, that requires atleast 512mb of graphics memory can't be played through 3d analyzer if you don't have a graphic card, but you can try running it if you have a 256/128 mb card. steps for using the 3-d analyzer software, *first download the file from here, *then extract that software and open the software, *then, select the exe file of the game that you want to run, *choose the select option, *then you can choose the attributes the options you require to play the game,*the attributes may be pixel shader or disable rendering in the game or emulation or some other options specified, *then, enter the device id and the vendor id for the graphics card you need from the available graphics card on the right.*i would suggest the ati radeon 9800pro to run most of the games like fifa 08/09 or prince of persia two thrones/sands of time, *then choose the run option and then i assure that the game would run for you at a decent/playable speed. note:1.if it shows any error that a file is not found pls reinstall the software.2.if the screen turns black/blank then play with the options in the s/w, by trial and error method,if fortunate, may be,you'll be able to run your favorite game.3.if pixel shader/shader version x.x not found, then select the appropriate shader model and run the game. all the best..happy gaming..if any queries post it below.how to: use 3d analyzer video at Internet

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.
When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.
I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.
I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.
I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.
I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.
