I have a problem with screen flashing or jerking only when playing a card game or other simple type games, also when that program is open the icon in the lower tray jumps back and forth. All other programs run fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAround the new year, I installed new RAM. Ever since, I have been getting BSOD at various times. I ran memtest86 and it came back clean. Unfortunately I left the old RAM a few thousand miles away so I can't test it with that. I also started playing a couple of more graphics intensive games (Star Trek Online and BFBC2) around that same time. At first, the BSOD would only occur during gameplay. Lately, the games have been running better but I get random blue screens while web browsing about once a week. The ones during games usually said atimpag.sys or dxgmms.sys. The ones during browsing usually say ntfs.sys or fltmgr.sys. ntoskrnl.exe seems to occur with both. I've attached a file with the dmps and some screen shots of cpuz.

I was playing Skyrim last weekend, and the game froze on a black screen just as it was cutting to a kill animation. I had to restart the computer but when Windows loaded I had a BSOD. The computer booted fine up till this point.I've been looking up causes and fixes all week, and the dump files seem to suggest a 0x116 Video_TDR_error. I've attached all the requested information.I've already tried installing several different graphics drivers - the newest, the one supplied with the card, and one between. Windows and DirectX were fully up to date. I've also tried formatting the hard drive and installing Windows fresh, twice. I've had the computer back to the state it arrived in, when the drivers worked fine, and I've tried it with only the video drivers installed. Everything I try now is still resulting in the same BSOD.I can only get Windows to load in Safe Mode, or if I go into Device Manager and disable my graphics card. I am now fairly convinced the card itself is the problem, and I'm looking for confirmation before I go and get a new one fitted.The computer was new at the end of November. I had the same Windows install since then, but now I'm running a fresh install.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 RC a few days ago and I am very happy with it except for one thing, and that's when playing games.
When I have played for some time (it's totally random) the screen goes black and it refuses to display the image again, tried unplugging it from graphics card, turn off power and nothing helps. The sound continues but nothing else respond.
This happens in all games i've tried this far (Prototype, Overlord II, Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood). It never happens when I'm simply using Windows or programs, only when I play games. Windowed Mode also seems to work without the screen going black, but unfortunately all games doesn't have an option to play in windowed mode.
I have all updates from Windows Update installed, latest graphics drivers and DirectX. The graphics card is quite hot when I touch it, so is it possible that Windows 7 is very sensitive to this? I never had this problem in Vista and it appeared right after i formated the harddrive and installed Windows 7 RC.
I use samsung SF411 14.9 inch along with windows 7 home premium 64bit.recently i have installed nfs MW. but when i cannot play this game with full screen. i get black bars on each side of the screen..Go to ATI CATALYST Applicaton:
- Graphics/Desktop & Display/ click triangle button in big Screen Model and press "Properties" option
- now change resolution to lower one.(in my lapy i have changed it from 1366x768 to 1280x720.)

There seems to be a Lot of people with this same issue as well but none have fixed the problem for me. I also tried to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework v4.0 beta 2 but that did not work either.
Please help anyone if you can, I've had more problems with windows 7 than vista already in less than one week.
My previous operating system (Vista Home Premium) crashed and I lost everything. I also misplaced the installation disc so I just decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything works fine aside from the games don't accommodate the full desktop screen even though it is already set to full mode. I can see black screen on both left and right sides of the screen. I already searched this forum for the solutions but still no luck. My laptop is Dell Inspiron 125 and my processor is Intel Core 2 Duo.

I've never re-installed the OS and it came pre-installed in the laptop.
When I launch either of 2 games (Borderlands and The Secret World), after a while, the screen will go dark and most of the time I'll hear a high pitched wine, I'll restart the PC and everything is usually good. I say usually because in the last 2 days, when booting up, I'll get to the screen that says "Starting windows" or the desktop is about to be displayed and the screen goes dark.
The SSD firmware has been updated to the latest; I worked with Kingston to do this. In the BIOS, the drive is configured to use Raid (XHD) and the drive is physically connected to the SATA3 port.
I have tried physically connecting it to a SATA2 for the firmware upgrade along with changing from Raid (XHD) to ACHI to IDE. When I run the program Speccy, it says that the status of S.M.A.R.T is bad and running Crystal Disk Info, it says Unknown for the disk health and other fields.
I am having Freezes when playing sc2 ... i was told it was a driver error first and got the newest addition of it and still freezing randomly ... idk if im loading the driver correctly or what ?? says the updated version in the properties on the usb root controller in device manager ... i uploaded the recent Sevens folder?

At times my monitor would say no signal. The problem disappeared for close to 5 days and came back up again. I've tried playing other games and the problem is similar, freezing to desktop, black screen and crashing to desktop.During the black screen to desktop I would get 'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered'. I have updated to a few different drivers including the latest stable driver from Nvidia but the problem still exists.I have ran VMT for 10 passes with no errors.
Prime95 Small FFTs for over 2hours with no errors.Running FurMark the test does complete when I run BenchMark(user's setting) when I do the Burn In-Test everything looks okay until my GPU hits 80c. The computer would shut off then. Though when I play games my gpu varies between 50 to 62c[CODE]
When playing any games like planetside 2 or tf2 anything on full screen. It will just got to the desktop. So then I would have to go click on the game to open it back up to play and then a minute later it will do it again. Is there any way to fix this because I have become frustrated with this occuring repeatedly.

I get black screen of death with annoying sound from my pc speakers while playing games only. Apart from playing games my pc is working fine and it has no problem at all. The windows 7 is perfect which I installed in May 2011; is in excellent shape, all other programs like videos, online surfing, audios, working on MS office are running well without any issue. So the problem lies with games only that too the new games and not the older ones like Stronghold Crusader Extreme is running well, but newer games like Call of Duty, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Time Shift or Euro Truck 2, I experiencing the black screen of death. I have really bad lag when running any application that requires full screen mode. I've got the latest AMD drivers that supports my GFX card (Asus Radeon 4850). I used to have a Nvidia card and I would just change one of the settings to get rid of the lag. I changed the Graphics card and reformatted the computer so it shouldn't be a driver issue. I have Service Pack 1 and all the updates for Windows installed.The lag is unbearable for games, so I can't play any games that require full screen, no issues when it's run in windowed mode. I've used FPS monitors while running games (Fraps and MSI afterburner) and the frame rates readings are normal (above 60 always) but it always looks like 20-ish no matter which game I play.
For videos there's always some kind of problem. Used various media players, and different browsers for flash videos but sometime the video skips to the end very quickly, or won't continue playing and halts immediately somewhere along the way. Used MSI Kombustor to stress out the GPU, and it maxes at 70� at 100% load. Directx 10 stress test seems to be blurry, every other test seems fine to run but would have the lag from being in full screen.
Random computer lockup to BSOD at random times while playing games in fullscreen mode. I've updated my video drivers with a full uninstall with driver sweeper but the crashes continue. I've also run a memory test and believe that my memory is fine.

I installed Windows 7 recently and then installed Borderlands and COD4. Both games run fine at lowest settings but after about 15-20 minutes of playing, my screen would just turn off and I'd have to switch the laptop off using the power button to reboot.
I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem, graphic card issue, or heat related issue since my notebook fan is not working and i'm using a notebook cooler.

I would get a random black screen while playing an online game on my laptop (this happens randomly but usually 15-30mins after starting Windows and start playing the game). After the black screen appeared, it would automatically reboot to this windows error recovery page with options to go into safe mode (networking/command prompt) or just boot windows normally.I chose to boot Windows normally but after getting into Windows 7 and started playing a while, a random BSOD would appear. It has happened for 2-3 days straight. The attached is the mini dump.
Note: I did not install anything new to my laptop, I have ran chkdsk and sfc /scannow and found nothing.I have no idea what caused the black screen and the BSOD.
So my issue is with all my full screen games, after a few minutes to a few hours the screen go's black and an error pops up on screen.

Normally I would just put it to those settings, but the issue is these are basically my setting in the nevidia control panel my settings are exactly that. The only thing I could see is the advanced display settings are 59hz. But you can't set it to 60 because windows 7 rounds down instead of up now.

From the sys reqs my system should be more that capable of running them.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers several times using several different versions of the driver (win7beta, vista32, mobilitymodded, unmobilitymodded).
Whenever I try starting up with the card enabled, the screen goes blank. After reinstalling the driver, everything but the wallpaper goes away. Can anyone help?
I recently turned on my laptop for it to constantly arrive to a black screen just before I select the user login. I read some instructions on a different forum stating that I need to log in to the computer via the safe mode and un install my display driver which is Intel(R) HD Graphics, I did this which enabled me to get back onto my original login but at a price.My driver now says that it's VGA, My screen resolution has changed, every app I use crashes constantly as well as any videos/films I play they crash, skip every minute or so.Yet if I update the driver I end up back at square one, the black screen.My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742 with Windows 7.I've also tried the windows recovery which crashes.
