I've been updating my graphics driver (Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS) and it's the correct version and after a while of the installation my screen turns black.
My Computer:
Windows 7 Professional x32
Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHz 2.13GHz
Ram: 3.00 GB
- Win 7 RC 7100 32 bit does not load the correct graphics card driver and even the boot menu is not displayed correctly (fuzzy black screen, issue known from Ubuntu installations where it was solved by adapting boot loader specifications…) I do know however, that the boot menu is loaded correctly as “arrow down” + “enter” starts XP without any issues.
Win 7 is somewhat loaded, when hitting “enter” only in what I think must be the boot menue. Harddrive gets active and for 5 secons I even get a “black screen in normal resolution” with the arrow displayed correctly. Then unfortunately returning to fuzzy mode.
Questions:
- How to boot Win 7 in vga or graphics modus being blinded? When hitting F8 hard drive reacts differently, but how then to select the right boot option without seeing anything? - Is there an option to install a different graphics card driver into win 7 via the working XP? - Is there an option to modify the boot menu’s options via working XP, e.g., setting to vga modus (that did the trick for Ubuntu). - Any experience with Radeon Mobility 9600 (MV350) under Win 7?
I've recently upgraded to windows 7 x86, and it works great. The only problem I have is that my ati mobility radeon 3650 graphics card doesn't seem to want to work.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers several times using several different versions of the driver (win7beta, vista32, mobilitymodded, unmobilitymodded).
Whenever I try starting up with the card enabled, the screen goes blank. After reinstalling the driver, everything but the wallpaper goes away. Can anyone help?
I recently turned on my laptop for it to constantly arrive to a black screen just before I select the user login. I read some instructions on a different forum stating that I need to log in to the computer via the safe mode and un install my display driver which is Intel(R) HD Graphics, I did this which enabled me to get back onto my original login but at a price. My driver now says that it's VGA, My screen resolution has changed, every app I use crashes constantly as well as any videos/films I play they crash, skip every minute or so.Yet if I update the driver I end up back at square one, the black screen. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5742 with Windows 7.I've also tried the windows recovery which crashes.
My Compaq laptop no longer has color graphics. When I go to a website it just shows black letters...I just bought a new battery from HP and can't figure out what is wrong..
Windows 7 Home, SP1. Black Screen with Moveable Cursor followed by driver issues with mouse. My diablo3 account got hacked about a week ago. Following that, I reinstalled Malware bytes, ad-aware, and spybot and did full scans/immunizations with each. I think I had one hit with spybot in my cookies? Nothing like a keylogger.A few days later, after my first reboot to install a flash update or something, I got the Black Screen with cursor after bootup. It actually took a really long time to go black - there was a lot going on. A couple updates were downloading/ installing, but then after like 5 minutes of non-responsive explorer (couldn't open start menu) it went to Black Screen with cursor. Happened again upon reboot.Booted to safe mode with networking, found a forum post that mentioned something about dll access permissions. I loaded up that section, fixed my administrator permissions to all. It did some things, but threw errors for C:\windows\system32 and C:\program files(x86), if I remember correctly.Tried rebooting normally, it worked. Couple days later, automatic windows update rebooted my computer, and my mouse (razer) stopped working. I believe this is a driver issue, as I had the same problem when I first installed the mouse. The buttons work fine but it doesn't pick up the movement.I'm worried I haven't fixed the issue completely, and I'm not entirely sure where it came from in the first place. It should be noted that I don't have easy access to another system to boot under to change the drive permissions that way.
I have an HP DV8T entertainment laptop with an Nvidia GeForce GT 230M. The current driver is version 267.67. The latest from Nvidia is 280.26.
When I install 280.26, everything appears to go great...until I re-boot. I get the boot screen with the windows logo and the swirly dots. After that, nothing. Just a black screen with the cooling fans screaming.
I tried to uninstall the current 267.67 driver and then install the 280.26 version but I get a pop-up that says "No compatible device found." I also tried to "Uninstall current driver" from the custom install menu on the Nvidia installer. Again, everything appeared to go well until re-boot. Logo, swirly dots...black screen.
Thank goodness for the ability to create system restore points or I could possibly be re-installing Windows. why I am unable to successfully update this driver?
We are having this issue on Windows 7 x86 Ultimate with an Asus M2N-VM DH mobo, which has an NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE / nForce 430 GPU. If we leave the default driver that Windows installs, we can use Media Center full screen, BUT we can't run the native resolution of the monitor, which is an LG L245WP-BN. When we try to run the install disk supplied with the mobo, which supposedly contains Vista drivers, we get an error saying they "can't be installed on this operating system."
i decide to reinstall my computer from windows 7 32 home bit into windows 7 64 bit, everything works fine until i decide to install the lates intel vga driver, after restarting the computer, the screen keep showing grid lines like this pic. t

After wrestling with 'black screen' on wake up issues and 'Display driver stopped...' pop-ups, I joined the forum today and thought I'd start a thread with a copy of a reply I posted to some older threads on SevenForums related to this issue.
I think some of the black screen video driver troubles are being caused by either incompatible Power Plan settings... or poor uninstalls of older video drivers... or both. this is only a suspicion and nowhere near a certainty, which is really why I'm putting it out there.
my screen goes all black for a couple of seconds then when it returns the open tabs/sites are kinda inactive for another couple of seconds, or when i click on another window, it is highlighted but the content is of another site/tab. when this happens, there is usually a message at the bottom left of the screen that "Display driver has stopped working and recovered problems"
About 6 months ago I had several issues with my screen flickering. I thought it was just an old monitor so I replaces it. No problems, however the last 48 hours my screen goes black then sometimes it will come back on and say that my display driver crashed. I've tried looking around but i see no error reports or anything on the driver. I am using a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS. I just uploaded the complete system specs to the website.
we have an nvidia card, it was failing for a few days, i.e. we d have to reboot it in safe, uninstall and reinstall a driver,a nd it would work. now we can get into the bios but if it comes up in anything other than safe mode its a black screen with a cursor, no sound. monitor is not split to 1 and 2.
All of a sudden my screen was black. my background , wallpaper are gone.I can change it to a different but I can't get my old background back. When I try to reset them , it goes black. I didn't do anything to it that I can think of.
I am building a computer for my friend, but I want to update all the drivers and tweak things before I hand the system over to him. After I'm done with the updates how do I enable the setup screen you get when you start a computer for the first time? The setup screen that asks you to name your computer an user account? Is this even possible as I would initially be creating a temp user admin account to do all the driver and windows updates, would I then be able to go back, delete the temp account and enable the setup screen so when he turns it on the first time it's as if it's a new retail computer he bought from the store.
Since the last patch the graphics are going black. The characters gear turn black, the scenary turns black. If I go to "system" "graphics" and hit "recommended" the whole screen goes black for a second or two, then comes back up and everything runs normally for a little while. When I zone into a different area, it does it again. It is doing it on my desktop and laptop so it has to have something to do with the game.

I was bored so I decided to install a known Scarface game. I downloaded it from the Internet and installed. When I started the first mission and the graphics was bad, just some black shadows. Is there any recommendation how to run scarface the Windows 7 32 bit?
I'm wondering if anybody can help with the following.
I'm running Win7 Home 32-bit with all of the latest updates and also have the latest version of iTunes installed. I'm trying to connect an iPhone to my PC, via iTunes, but it is not recognised by iTunes, and I keep getting an error saying that it cannot read the iPhone.
However, the iPhone does appear in Windows Explorer (apparently as a camera, as I can read the DCIM file and look at the photos there), but as the iPhone is not jailbroken I cannot see any other files. The iphone is running iOS5.
From searching online, it appears that the problem may be that Windows thinks it is a camera, and has atatched a particular driver to it (an MTP driver). Others also suggest that I need to have the phone installed with a different driver (usbappl)
If I uninstall the phone or try and automatically update the driver then it says that there is no better driver.
I have also tried to specifically update it with the usbappl driver (by updaing the driver and using the "have disk" option and then browsing to where the usbappl driver is installed). In this case I get an error saying that "the folder specified doesn't contain a compatible driver for your device).
how I can get Windows to update with the correct driver, or some other way of getting iTunes to see the iPhone.
after making a fresh install of windows seven, I found the necessary audio and video drivers. The video driver is fine but this audio driver gives me the following error..'a service installation section in this INF file is invalid.'
I have a Gateway DX4720 and was checking out how up to date its drivers are. Using Device Manager I checked out Nvidia (ver. 8.17.125896) and did the automatic internet search, resulting in my driver was up to date. However, I noted on Gateway's site that there was a Nvidia chipset driver (package 15.45) available for download. I am confused, do I need to install it or not?
Recently I decided to finally reinstall my Windows 7, since it was ~2yrs old and getting slower each day. I used the official MSDN Windows 7 Professional ISO SP1 and did a clean install. Unfortunately, I've been having this problem which I can't solve no matter what. It seems to me that there's some graphics issues - When resizing any window, it takes some tome while it redraws it's contents, you can actually see it updating the contents. Also, there's some sort of flickering involved as well.Machine in question is: HP ProBook 4515s With AMD/ATi HD 4330, running Windows 7 32bit SP1.I have tried the following, without success:
- the default drivers on the HP website - the drivers provided by windows update service - latest mobile drivers from AMD - modded drivers with Mobility Modder - Aero On / Aero Off / Disabling every visual effect - Updating BIOS - Doing the same on x64 version of windows.
I have DirectX updated, and all other patches and drivers should be there as well.
i installed win 7 RC1 (32 bit) on my laptop a couple weeks ago..its been great, however i hit a bit of a snag now..
now when i installed it, windows got all my drivers and everything was fine, lately i decided to reinstall a game i usually played, and notice that it crashes once in a while.(screen goes fuzzy, then eventually get a BSOD)
i checked the driver in device manager it was an old version (from 2006)..now for the past hour ive been trying to update it to the newest version and nothing at all is happening, i downloaded the drivers from hp website (used the vista 32 bit drivers), tried installing it..nothing happens..got the drivers from ati's website, try installing them..and still it refuses to update my drivers
has this happened to anybody before? any ideas as to how i could get around it?
i also tried uninstalling the driver fully..then reinstalling the ati drivers manually, to no avail..to get the computer working properly again i had to manually make windows download an update to fix it..
A week after downloading the new GeForce GT 540 drivers I started getting a rippling effect rolling up my screen only while I play video game (COD2). It was the same day that my parents maid came and cleaned and she cleaned my laptop (Asus K53SV) and knocked it off dual monitor somehow. Could she have caused the effect too? Anyway, my only thought was that it was the driver so I rolled back to the old driver. When it came back, my windows frame and taskbar colors were much lighter colored and the Thumbnail previewer changed to a list. No problem, I switched back to the new driver (rippling effect never went away) and all was fine with Thumbnails.Today (several days later), I started up the puter and the colors were lighter on Windows and the Tumbnails Previewer was gone.So I rolled back the driver and reinstalled new drivers and nothing changed. I googled the problem and found Brink's instructions to save Thumbnail Previewer thing to desktop and hit merge, etc. and restarted and still no Previewer.
The Screen on my laptop (ASUS K53ta) turn white while updating to the latest amd drivers off the official amd website.
During the installation the screen turns black and flickers (like its supposed to) and then all of a sudden the screen darkens and pixel by pixel start turning white. restarting the computer in normal mode and during the boot screen the same thing happens. it darkens then pixels turn white the only way to get it only way to get it out of this mode is to go into safe mode and uninstall the driver. i have tried re-installing the driver and reformatting the computer and installing windows again. NOTHING HAS WORKED!
This computer is not overclocked!

My wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore. When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.
i have a Dell Vostro 1520 and im running Windows 7 with a 32bit. It is only 2 years only. It started about a month ago. I was on my laptop viewing and deleting some unwanted photos i had. A few minutes later i realized that i deleted a photo that i wanted. So i went to the recycling bin and restored that photo. When i went back to my photos and went into the album, it said something like i do no have permission to access this folder. Please press continue to get full permission. I clicked continue and i got the access i should have. Now i tried many more random folders and the same thing happened. Also when i came out of the folders, the folders had a big pad lock sign on the front of it. After that i shut down the laptop and went to turn it back on. The laptop will power on like normal. I can press f12 for the boot options. which i have already tried many times. I also tried it in safe mode and what-not, but still nothing. I can hear the fan and stuff spinning up like normal. I have also put and CD into the CD ROM and that spins up fine. So after the Dell logo on the screen, it goes black and stays that way with the cursor. You can move the cursor around no problem. I should also add that the battery light is and has been flashing for a good wile. Its flashing orange and blue. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the battery. Because my laptop will not charge with the AC adapter in it for many months now. It will only stay powered on with the AC adapter plugged in. One more thing. The LED lights over the buttons. None of the are flashing, besides one, on the far left. And i cant find out anywhere what this LED light stands for.
I want to update my video card, which I haven't done since I got my laptop a year ago. I'm not very experienced when it comes to drivers, and I want to make sure I get the right one. I'm looking for a second opinion.
I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v video card, I think it's series is 4650 but I'm not sure.
Catalyst Control Center says it's driver packaging version is 8.742, I imagine that's pretty old.
Is using the AMD Driver Auto-detect the best way to update my video card? It says: Graphics Hardware: Mobility Radeon HD 4xxx Series The best driver for this device is: catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe
Is this right for me? or is there another way to update this card.
