New Hardware Detected After Updating Video Driver?
Nov 22, 2011Just curious, Why ?? A video driver is software. I get a yellow exclimation point in the Windows Performace tab saying I need to run WEI again.

Updating Catalyst Control Center, Video Card Driver
Jan 29, 2012I want to update my video card, which I haven't done since I got my laptop a year ago. I'm not very experienced when it comes to drivers, and I want to make sure I get the right one. I'm looking for a second opinion.
I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v video card, I think it's series is 4650 but I'm not sure.
Catalyst Control Center says it's driver packaging version is 8.742, I imagine that's pretty old.
Is using the AMD Driver Auto-detect the best way to update my video card? It says:
Graphics Hardware: Mobility Radeon HD 4xxx Series
The best driver for this device is: catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe
Is this right for me? or is there another way to update this card.
Video Driver Not Detected?
Mar 20, 2012I am not sure if I can still fix this but I am trying not to lost hope here. This started when I upgrade my professional XP to windows7 Ultimate. I was able to use it for at least 3 months with no issue but then my computer crashed. I decided not to use windows7 anymore and then installed back my XP professional but even I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the XP os, my computer tends to use the generic driver of the video card. It will not detect now my monitor driver as well. I still have all th cd drivers but my computer always tells me it can't locate the driver. Should I replace or buy a new video card or is it my monitor driver that is damaged?

Nov 6, 2012Yesterday I got a PC from a colleague once I started up the PC everything works fine, but since there was a lot of random programs on the pc, I decided to install my own version of Windows, Windows 7 Enterprise on it.When the whole installation was finished the computer started, everything worked fine. BUT the PC did not recognize the Nvidea Geforce 560ti video card. Since It worked fine before I re-installed windows, I am sure that there is nothing wrong with the cables, however I think it is a problem with the Bios configuration. (because that is what changes after a reboot right?)So, I try to change the Bios configuration to, booting both display PCU (i think) and PCI E, but this did not fix the problem.
My suggestions are; either to update the bios, but I'm not sure witch version I need.
Also, I could disable the onboard VGA standard 14mb videocard, but I did not try this because I'm afraid I will get a black screen, and I also read in different posts that the PC will automaticly re-install the standard VGA.I have been lingering around sevenforums for a while, I have always found my solutions here, but this time I'm in really big sh*t.To make things easier I will also post some information about my new PC.
1. Motherboard is from Foxconn, Its a FlamingBlade.
2. The CPU is Intel i7 ( i think.) dual core aswell.

Updating An IPhone Driver In Windows 7
Feb 25, 2012I'm wondering if anybody can help with the following.
I'm running Win7 Home 32-bit with all of the latest updates and also have the latest version of iTunes installed. I'm trying to connect an iPhone to my PC, via iTunes, but it is not recognised by iTunes, and I keep getting an error saying that it cannot read the iPhone.
However, the iPhone does appear in Windows Explorer (apparently as a camera, as I can read the DCIM file and look at the photos there), but as the iPhone is not jailbroken I cannot see any other files. The iphone is running iOS5.
From searching online, it appears that the problem may be that Windows thinks it is a camera, and has atatched a particular driver to it (an MTP driver). Others also suggest that I need to have the phone installed with a different driver (usbappl)
If I uninstall the phone or try and automatically update the driver then it says that there is no better driver.
I have also tried to specifically update it with the usbappl driver (by updaing the driver and using the "have disk" option and then browsing to where the usbappl driver is installed). In this case I get an error saying that "the folder specified doesn't contain a compatible driver for your device).
how I can get Windows to update with the correct driver, or some other way of getting iTunes to see the iPhone.

Using Device Manager I checked out Nvidia (ver. 8.17.125896) and did the automatic internet search, resulting in my driver was up to date. However, I noted on Gateway's site that there was a Nvidia chipset driver (package 15.45) available for download. I am confused, do I need to install it or not?

May 23, 2009i installed win 7 RC1 (32 bit) on my laptop a couple weeks ago..its been great, however i hit a bit of a snag now..
now when i installed it, windows got all my drivers and everything was fine, lately i decided to reinstall a game i usually played, and notice that it crashes once in a while.(screen goes fuzzy, then eventually get a BSOD)
i checked the driver in device manager it was an old version (from 2006)..now for the past hour ive been trying to update it to the newest version and nothing at all is happening, i downloaded the drivers from hp website (used the vista 32 bit drivers), tried installing it..nothing happens..got the drivers from ati's website, try installing them..and still it refuses to update my drivers
has this happened to anybody before? any ideas as to how i could get around it?
i also tried uninstalling the driver fully..then reinstalling the ati drivers manually, to no avail..to get the computer working properly again i had to manually make windows download an update to fix it..

Missing Thumbnail Previews Not Long After Updating Driver
Mar 11, 2012A week after downloading the new GeForce GT 540 drivers I started getting a rippling effect rolling up my screen only while I play video game (COD2). It was the same day that my parents maid came and cleaned and she cleaned my laptop (Asus K53SV) and knocked it off dual monitor somehow. Could she have caused the effect too? Anyway, my only thought was that it was the driver so I rolled back to the old driver. When it came back, my windows frame and taskbar colors were much lighter colored and the Thumbnail previewer changed to a list. No problem, I switched back to the new driver (rippling effect never went away) and all was fine with Thumbnails.Today (several days later), I started up the puter and the colors were lighter on Windows and the Tumbnails Previewer was gone.So I rolled back the driver and reinstalled new drivers and nothing changed. I googled the problem and found Brink's instructions to save Thumbnail Previewer thing to desktop and hit merge, etc. and restarted and still no Previewer.

During the installation the screen turns black and flickers (like its supposed to) and then all of a sudden the screen darkens and pixel by pixel start turning white. restarting the computer in normal mode and during the boot screen the same thing happens. it darkens then pixels turn white the only way to get it only way to get it out of this mode is to go into safe mode and uninstall the driver. i have tried re-installing the driver and reformatting the computer and installing windows again. NOTHING HAS WORKED!
This computer is not overclocked!

Dec 12, 2011Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Rebuilt my PC with a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 board and i5 2500k CPU. Everything installed and ran perfectly. Zero hardware or software issues. I've been running two GTX 465's in SLI configuration. They ran fine right after I first installed their drivers. SLI worked perfectly. Everything was going well. I was benchmarking Crysis, playing Skyrim, all that good stuff. Then, I booted my PC this morning, and Windows was automatically updating drivers. I checked which ones they were, and among them were PCI bridge, PCI to PCI connector, etc. Since the update, I no longer have SLI. In fact, my second GTX 465 doesn't even show up in the Device Manager. In the Nvidia control panel, there is no option for SLI, it just show "Set PhysX Configuration."

Jul 20, 2012Recently I reformatted my HD and clean install win 7 ultimate 32 bit on my computer, bcuz of some problems when booting up, took like forever to boot or 2 to 3 restarts..At first BIOS cant detect my HD so I taught its a hardware issue I did like changing the sata cable also took it to a technician TWICE! maybe the sata port was broken they check all the connection, the last one did fix it but im still having difficulty booting up..He said one last option reformat, so i did reformat it successfully from win xp, now it boots up just fine its running good no problem for like a week yeah just 1 week!. Now my pc has new problem or is it?? Whenever I used it 2 to 3 hours my pc hangs so much even just opening event viewer would take me 5 to 10 mins and 2 errors always flood event viewer the first time i saw it disk error reach 5231 and nvistor32 reach 5366 errors, right now as I am writing this, Disk error reach a waaping 23,145 total. I think this is a serious problem that needs some fixing.

I have an EVGA 680i SLI (122-CK-NF68) - updated chipset/storage drivers - no fix. I opted to reload Windows. Previously I had two stand-alone HDDs - I setup a Raid 0 and cleared the MBR before starting the new install."Expanding Windows Files" seemed to take much longer than usual and during the final phase of setup I got "Windows could not configure one or more system components". I repartitioned and formatted and tried again - this time after the initial reboot just as its attempting to load Windows to finish installation (before the point I got the above error) there was an error (too fast to see) and the system reboot itself and continued this cycle till I shut it off. I've had this machine for about 4 years and reload Windows about every 6-8 months. The above two errors back to back seemed like more than coincidence.

I ripped a couple with no issues...but then suddenly - after about the third or 4th rip - I would merely reach down, press the Eject button on the drive and the machine would instantly shutdown. No blue screen, no message, no nothing.
At first I thought it was static or something - just reaching over to the machine and pressing the button Event viewer says nothing. However I did see one obscure message back on Oct 7th that stated this:"The driver detected a controller error on DeviceIdeIdePort0"Gotta think that's this DVD drive port. But no other messages at all since then.Anyone got ANY ideas as to what the heck is going on? It's a SATA drive - maybe a cable? Maybe the drive controller is actually FUBAR-ed? Maybe the power supply? Motherboard (I hope not)
