View 1 Replies View RelatedI checked the forums and could not find my specific issue.
The other day, I successfully installed Windows 7 Ultimate (full version, clean install) on my primary "C" partition and everything worked. Now, I believe I have a corrupt OS. When I attempt to boot normally, I receive an "Error loading operating sytem" message. The Windows 7 installation CD is detected, and begins booting, but following the "loading Windows" screen no options are displayed.
Here is what I did to cause this issue:
-I had an old external drive not compatible with Windows 7, so I decided to try and install XP onto a secondary partition.
-In order to create this partition during the installation, I deleted my "E" partition which I had previously locked with BitLocker. I left my "C" partition (System Rese) and "D" partition (with Windows 7) in tact.
-I began installing Windows XP. Upon reboot, I received my first "Operating SYstem Not Deteced" error.
-I tried booting from my WIndows 7 CD to see what was going on, but following the boot from the CD, the installation program stpped running before any options were displayed. This occured after the "Starting windows" message was displayed.
-I tried booting from the Windows XP install CD. This CD boot properly. I deleted the partition I had attempted to install XP on.
-I tried booting normally, and "Operating SYstem Not Deteced"
-I tried booting from the WIndows 7 CD again and "Operating SYstem Not Deteced"
At this point, I am considering loading from the XP CD and deleting all partions with hopes for a fresh Windows 7 installation.
Anything else I should try before deleting my partitions?
The program in question was Roxio Creator 2010. I restarted the computer to complete the process. An error message appeared " windows could not be started as CPSC Common Tools2 is missing...". I chose to cancel, but then the password request was on screen as normal, and everything seems to be OK.How can that be; do I need take further action?

However, you can download a program that will allow you to view Help created in the Windows Help format. This is not a specific Win 7 problem but it's involved so here goes!
I have four machines all connected to a switch, two wirelessly and two
wired. The router is wired also to the switch.
The two wired machines, one a laptop and one a desktop, both running Windows
XP, one wireless laptop is running Windows 7RC and the other Netbook,
Ubuntu.
Occasionally, like this afternoon, one of the wired machines and BOTH the
wireless machines will suddenly drop internet access, although access to
shared drives on the LAN is still there, yet the one XP wired laptop machine
does NOT drop internet access. The only way of returning access to the three
machines that have dropped it is re-boot the router, causing hassle to the
one machine that is still on the internet.
Can anyone tell me any reasons why this hugely irritating and totally
illogical scenario might come about?
I tried to play age of empires on windows 7 and the display is blotched with red dots everywhere in the game. I can play the game but it is really ugly to look at.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from XP to Win7. Most things worked fine, except for the internet. At first the "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" didn't work. But I found a driver for that one. Now there are just two things left: the "PCI Simple Communications-controller" does not work and the "Intel H5 Express chipset LPC interface controller - 3B06" isn't working either. I found these problems in the Device Manager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried to install Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and it gave an error message of: windows update encountered an unknown error code 80246007. I also get the error message after my laptop restarts if the installation shows it supposedly installed: installation not successful an uknown error has occured Error 0x8008095. I have also tried the 3 steps to try before installing Windows 7 SP1 and I still get the above errors.I would like to know the following:
1. When we update Windows where does it store the updates. Because I noticed that each time I update I loose disk space and I am wondering if I could delete these updates once I know they work.
2. I noticed a folder in the color of purple. It is: c:userusernameApp Datalocalmigwiz in this folder it contains the following files: debug.txt, diagerrr.xml, diagwrn.xml, miglog.xml, setupact.txt, setuper.txt what is the folder for.
3.I use windows disk cleanup and ccleaner. I noticed that when you install or uninstall programs it creates a restore point and shadow copies. I clean them out once a month. Is there anywhere else that shadow copies are created and can be deleted. How about does Windows 7 has a cache where we need to delete files. How many temp folders does windows 7 create. I would like to retain some disk space back. Do you know if Office 2010 where it stores it updates and can we delete them once we know they work.
