I cannot install XP virtual PC on my ASUS PC, Windows 7 Professional, 64 bits. I get 'it cannot be installed' message at the end of installation. I am trying to install it from url... What I am doing wrong?
View 2 RepliesI tried to re-install my windows 7 today, and at first it seemed to be going well, but then it reset me back to the windows DVD install screen and when I try to install windows it gives me this message: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. "This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOs menu." I think I need to change some BIOs settings on my motherboard or something but I am really just not sure, it's my first time build and this really is beyond me. If anyone has any experience on what to do or any advice I would be really grateful for it. The HD I am using is a Westinghouse 1T and the motherboard is a ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+.

When I attempt to use a webpage link to send an email or document, I get the error message, "default email client not properly installed".I have no clue what this means or how to fix it, so I attempted to research it online.I'd like to keep this a simple as possible. Can anyone walk me through the steps? I think I'd like to use Google & not Windows Live (have no idea why though), then I heard Post Box Express was simple, then I was told to press 'options' in my Notifier, but that went nowhere.

The other day, I successfully installed Windows 7 Ultimate (full version, clean install) on my primary "C" partition and everything worked. Now, I believe I have a corrupt OS. When I attempt to boot normally, I receive an "Error loading operating sytem" message. The Windows 7 installation CD is detected, and begins booting, but following the "loading Windows" screen no options are displayed.
Here is what I did to cause this issue:
-I had an old external drive not compatible with Windows 7, so I decided to try and install XP onto a secondary partition.
-In order to create this partition during the installation, I deleted my "E" partition which I had previously locked with BitLocker. I left my "C" partition (System Rese) and "D" partition (with Windows 7) in tact.
-I began installing Windows XP. Upon reboot, I received my first "Operating SYstem Not Deteced" error.
-I tried booting from my WIndows 7 CD to see what was going on, but following the boot from the CD, the installation program stpped running before any options were displayed. This occured after the "Starting windows" message was displayed.
-I tried booting from the Windows XP install CD. This CD boot properly. I deleted the partition I had attempted to install XP on.
-I tried booting normally, and "Operating SYstem Not Deteced"
-I tried booting from the WIndows 7 CD again and "Operating SYstem Not Deteced"
At this point, I am considering loading from the XP CD and deleting all partions with hopes for a fresh Windows 7 installation.
Anything else I should try before deleting my partitions?
I've got a new Samsung laptop. For about a month now whenever I boot up the laptop it says "installation may take a few minutes""please wait." The thing is it doesn't install anything at all and is a nuisance. Also I checked the windows task manager and all it says it is is a 'install'. How can I stop it?

When i try to create a clean install, everything goes smooth untill the Partition selection screen. I get a "no drives were detected" notice and the list is empty. It offers the Load drivers option but i dont really know where to get them.
I have Striker Extreme motherboard, and a wdc wd5000aaks SCSI hard drive (connected via SATA).
Im running Vista Ultimate x64 at the moment. If i use vista's install dvd to see if it finds hdd drive during installation, it does find them. Also if i try to use Windows 7 installer from within Vista, win 7 installer finds my hdd normally.
What should i do?
I know my copy is genuine but after a few days of installing a note appear "this copy of windows is not genuine".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.
I have just got Windows 7 Ultimate.I accept the Licence Agreement, set my partitions as i want them but when it gets to the expanding files part it will hang at 0%. This happens on both the 32 & 64 bit disc.This is a brand new purchase which I opened it about an hour ago.The laptop has a 400GB HD and 2GB of ram. It came with Home Prem x64 pre-installed, So the hardware meets the requirements.What seems to be the problem?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).
Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. Just SSD, USB cordless mouse, keyboard and no network cord or WIFI i started with a clean ssd as reccomended my bios recognized the ssd on post i booted into the win 7 install (MBR not uefi) i loaded the 64 bit rste drivers from asus as reccomended by others i left the machine to install the usb then booted into windows install (for whatever reason) i pushed f8 to boot my corsair windows brings up an error on a black screen File: windows/system32/drivers/adpahci.sys driver did not load Status: oxc0000221 Info: Windows Failed to load because of a critical system driver is missing or corrupt
Every now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst, my laptop is a Aspire 5250-BZ853. I received it back in October, I think...may've been earlier. But anyhow, it was working just fine yesterday until I did a Windows Update. I had to restart, and it was fine again. But then it began running sluggishly slow, and just terrible overall so I restarted it once more and that was when the problems began.
This entire day, this has been driving me nuts. I have important files on here, and I backed up most on my external harddrive a bit ago but there were a few I missed and hadn't the chance to get (ironically enough the most important, papers and such.) At first, it said my password was wrong -- as if someone had changed it! I restarted it once more, thinking it an error or something, and did that again so I restarted it again. Finally, it worked but I think it logged me in as safe mode somehow. After that, it restarted on its own and began this loop. I did a LOT of searching on Google until finally someone suggested to someone else to try pressing "ALT + F10" I think it was as it was starting, and finally I made progress. Before that, it was just going into a constant rebooting loop and I couldn't even log into safe mode. Trying to reset it back to a time it was working was futile, because it said there was no recovery time there! So that shot that idea down. At last, I got somewhere.as well. I clicked the reset to factory settings, but still keep all the files (and they would be saved to "C:Backup" and I thought it had finally worked. But now as it reinstalls, I got an error saying something about how it needed to restart or something...so when I clicked "okay" it began again, and finally it all just came to a stop on "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."
When I try to download a printer driver I get the message 'cannot run program in DOS', together with pages of gibberish figures/letters. I am using Windows 7.

Anyways I put in my Windows 7 7100 DVD, restart the comp... I hit a key to boot from CD, it tries to boot and comes up with a screen that says:

And I cant get 6801 off this comp. It's now starting be become unstable, it will blue screen and restart on my often.
I've installed Windows 7 from booting from the disk formatting my HDD, all went well until the installation restarted my machine. I then get the error 'sync out of range' message. I've read in other forums that the answer to this is to start in safe mode and update drivers or lower res, the thing is, is that on your first start from the installation it wont let me start in safe mode, it tells me the 'i cannot start for the first time in safe mode restart in normal mode.
